View Full Version : Hasbro We Want a Hermi Odle figure

06-10-2002, 01:41 AM
To Hasbro:

I've seen that you undertook the big task of Ephant Mon(which looks fantastic btw) But now i'm starting this thread to show that collectors and fans would love for you to do a Hermi Odle figure. He has got to be one of the coolest looking aliens around and would make a great addition to the saga line. Also I'm putting this here to establish that we want a Yoxgit figure( He was a Ugnaught in Jabba's Palace that worked for Hermi Odle and was a bit bigger than those Ugnaughts seen on the cloud city. He donned a Red Jumpsuit and is very cool looking) He also would be great addition to either come with Hermi or have his own figure.
PLEASE POST PICTURES OF HERMI ODLE AND YOXGIT HERE so people can see what they both look like. PICS and CCG cards all that. Please post your support here if you want these figures made and if you want them separate or in a cool 2 pack. Because I've wanted them since the first time I saw ROTJ in 1988. Thanks for your support. Also post if you want Hermi to have very nice cloth outfit or molded like the new Ephant figure. I myself would like molded vinyl. Hermi should Come with a blaster that actually can fit into his hand and may be holstered by his side. Also he should include a cane. And maybe even clear plastic removable drool that attaches to his mouth. Or maybe a mouth that is jointed so his tongue doesn't always hang out(would be great if done right) Let the FANS voice their opinions on what should be done and included. I want these figures badly

PS : No gimmicks on the figures. NEUTRAL POSES with great sculpts and lot of articulation key words being ACTION and FIGURE not statue. have articulation in the neck, waste, wrists, elbows, hips, Knees, shoulders, and biceps if you can squeeze it all it. And a Holster or clip so the weapon/blaster may fit in on both figures

06-10-2002, 06:50 AM
Yes, I am all for a Hermi Odle figure! I think he should have vinyl robes just so he can match the way Ephant Mon was sculpted.

I think that Yoxgit would be best as a separate figure, unless Hasbro wants to do a Cinema Scene type thing with Hermi, Yoxgit and another Jabba's palace alien. Although their Cinema Scenes were never the best quality (probably why they weren't big sellers) so maybe having two separatly packaged figures is the way to go.

06-10-2002, 09:17 AM
Yes seperately packed figures all the way to keep the quality at a reasonable level.

Hermi is a must along with Yarna D'al gargan. The larger characters offer so much more value for money I feel.

I'd buy just about any of the characters from Jabba's court, especially Hermi Odle. And I'd like to throw Sgt Doallyan's name into the mix. I love the way Chewbacca tossed him against the wall and his story in Tales From Jabba's Palace was pretty good.

06-10-2002, 03:02 PM
Love Hermie!!
Once again I agree with you Jargo.
And huge is good!!

06-10-2002, 05:47 PM
I'd ;ove a hermi, he looks so sweet and would go great in my jabba scene.

Add me to this list, Jabba's palace is still my favorite scene from the saga. I'd love a Hermi, as well as a Gargan and most DEFINITELY a J'Quille (aka Tooth Face). I've wanted this guy made since I was 6! If you can make Djas Puhr Hasbro, give us these guys!!!

06-11-2002, 09:24 AM
I would like one. I also feel that Yarna Da'l Gargan needs a figure done. Please Hasbro, make this figures.

I wouldn't say he looks sweet. He is rather ugly. But that's why we want him.

Alright, if we are all talking about Jabba's crew, could someone please tell me what the hell that 'thing' hanging from the ceiling is?

If it is the thing hangs from the ceiling that tries to lick C-3PO, his name is Wol Cabas****e. I found this on theforce.net encyclopedia:

this race of immobile slugs evolved from a parasitical race. They have short, round bodies with long tongues used to snare their prey. They have developed an astonishing level of intelligence over their history, a fact which is often overlooked because of their appearance.

Mission complete Rogue II.

Thanks much!

As requested by the thread's author, here is a pic of ol' Hermi. I couldn't find one of Yoxgit.

Just look at Hermi though, how could you not love him?:)

Ahh, Hermi....The face only a mother or serious Star Wars collector could love.

So if Hasbro made him, do you think they would make some clear force lightning, hook it to his mouth, and call it "drool?"

Lets keep this thread going strong. I'd like to get everyone to post on here. Get it like 6 pages and up.. I need some support here fellas. We all want a Hermi tell your friends tell everyone to get on here and put in a good word for Hermi. I gotta have one

uppin^^^^^^^^^ come on people 12 people isn't enuff to get Hermi Odle made..

06-18-2002, 07:29 AM
BillyJack, I tried this with Yarna D'al gargan and only a handful of people posted. Truth is that even though there may not be many responses to a thread like this most people would buy a hermi figure anyway. For a start it's a star wars character, secondly it would be a star wars figure, thirdly it would be a large star wars figure, fourthly jabba's palace is one of the most popular scenes in the saga and has a huge fanbase of people wanting to obtain all the characters for that scene. Fifth, It's almost an inevitable fact that at some point hasbro will make him as they run out of characters they haven't already made. He has an interesting backstory in the EU and the only real reason for never making him would be if there was a rights issue concerning his likeness being used. but as he isn't a living person and was designed by LFL staff for LFL use, there shouldn't be an issue with it. here's his SW.com databank entry...

"It would be a difficult task to determine who was the most gruesome of Jabba the Hutt's henchmen, though Hermi Odle was definitely a contender. He was a large, upright tuberous being with greasy gray skin, and a puffy face with drooling lips and drooping eyes.
Hermi Odle worked as a weapons specialist, helping craft the defenses of Jabba's palace. He spent most of his life on Tatooine after his ship was shot out of orbit by an Imperial patrol. He impressed Jabba with his weapons-crafting skills.

Odle had one major nemesis in the palace: Pote Snitkin, a Skrilling gun-runner and skiff pilot. The competition escalated as Snitkin sabotaged one of Odle's weapons, resulting in the death of a prized pet of Jabba's. During the confusion of battle over the Pit of Carkoon, Odle fired a stun weapon from the sail barge, knocking Snitkin unconscious. Snitkin was unable to move away from the exploding sail barge, and thus perished.

The Baragwin did escape the combat zone, eventually making it back to Mos Eisley. There he stole a starcraft of Jabba's, and left the desert planet. His current whereabouts are unknown

Hermi Odle was a full-body creature suit worn by a puppeteer on set. Like several aliens crafted by the Return of the Jedi Creature Shop, Odle's name appears to be a play on words, a phonetic respelling of "Hear Me Yodel." "

If he's a weapons expert then hasbro could get really creative and give him a personal armory of cool guns and bazookas and stuff. make him a deluxe figure with tons of accessories. I'd definately go for that. :)

06-19-2002, 01:47 PM
That Hermi, he's a cunning sack of potatoes isn't he?;)

Oh yeah, count me in for a Hermi Odle figure.

I don't know about a whole lot of weapons, because one hand is already going to be occupied with a cane to keep this topheavy design from taking a permanant nap on your desk.

Maybe Hasbro could include with him around eight blaster handles and barrels, so that you can piece together a weapon. I know, it's a cheap attempt at weapon-crafting, but it's not like we're working with movie material here. :)

06-20-2002, 05:14 AM
Yeah, he's supposed to be a weapons expert so why not have a selection of peg together weapon pieces so the big ol' slime ball can make his own arsenal. maybe some explosive devices too. Kinda like the ones Han Endor raid comes with but bigger. Perhaps the gun from the sail barge that fits onto the handrail, vibro pikes and knives and axes. perhaps a cloth backpack to put some of this stuff into or a big crate like the one that came with C-3PO protocol droid.

Lots of bits and pieces basically. Even re-use some of the weapons from POTF2 skiff guards if you have to. Just make him please. :)

06-21-2002, 01:00 PM
Hermi is the best f cking Baragin out there

I probably misspelled his species but at least i know it

Hes a good guy, along with hmm...

They should make aGortugg figure with vibroax

Hermi Odle all the way!

07-10-2002, 01:15 PM
Here's my vote for Hermi Odle!! I thought this fig. was in the Fan's choice voting list??

07-10-2002, 10:23 PM
Well, I would be remiss if I did not stand up to be counted with those who want a Hermie Odle figure. Though admittedly Hermie is not my favorite of Jabba's minions (Ephant Mon is closer to my ideal), I want EVERYBODY!
Okay, maybe not every single "normal human" looking guy, but to my way of thinking, the more the merrier. And Hermie has a decided screen presence. His look is unique and he is in league with Ephant Mon, Amanaman, and a few others who are not just a guy with a mask and gloves, but rather of decidedly different proportions.
And of course there is that "collector since the Early Bird Set" in me that is still stinging from ONLY FOUR Cantina denezins in over 10 years of the original line!
As for Hermie Odle, bring him on!

07-18-2002, 03:18 PM
So will this figure be on the next fan choice figure poll?

12-20-2002, 11:31 PM
Count me in. Hermie rocks! If Ephant Mon gets a figure, it only seems fair that Hermi gets one too.

12-21-2002, 10:51 AM
A little word of encouragement from canada.

I would love to have that figure too. I know, he will probably be hard to find here (like ephant mon) but I am ready to pay the 50$ that he will cost me in a special shop.

If only hasbro could listen to me... We need diversity in canada. I am tire to see 25 taun we and 30 jar jar when i go to toys r us or Zellers. I want those obscure action figure.

Hermi is a dream... a beautiful dream... and i will dream as long as he will not be in my hand...

Hope my english is not so bad... If you want, I can write in french... i would be better... If one of you want to be my american friend... just telle me.

12-21-2002, 06:58 PM
Sign me up for the Hermie fan Club.
An ugly creature like this belongs in everyone's Jabba's Palce scenes.
Much like everyone else here, I've always been a huge fan of Jabba's Palace, and would like any and all figures they could storm up.
A new Jabba would be nice as would an inclussion of the person fanning Jabba with the palm branch, and there might be some other charater in Jabba's Palace that seems to get over 7 pages of posts, hmmm...

12-22-2002, 11:52 AM
Hasbro make this figure!!! we need all the figures made that were in Jabba's palace! ALL OF THEM!

I still think its wierd seeing Dengar in the palace.

12-22-2002, 01:28 PM
Well now we know that Jabba likes a bet on the races and with Dengar being a bit of a wizz as a swoop racer, it's not such a stretch that Dengar would wind up working from jabba's place after he quit the racing game. I'm half expecting Lucas to CGI some pod racers into the palace for the archival editions. Which again isn't such a stretch for unscupulous pod racers to mingle with the denizens of the palace but will draw ire from older long term fans of the OT. Fudging the OT and PT together in a fusion of CGI cartoonery isn't going to go down well. But yes, Dengar does look odd in there pasted into the scene, but it is acceptable for him to be there. almost. :)

12-22-2002, 11:42 PM
Yes, hasbro. Make Hermi, or you will be expelled from the Jedi Order (That, and you'll also earn the respect and support from millions of fans worldwide).

Btw, no phlegm horking action-feature-gimmick.

12-23-2002, 12:37 AM
Now that we got Ephant Mon and everybody loves him, Hasbro should definatly make Hermi!

01-01-2003, 01:26 AM
I have seen the Ephant Mon's vanish from the shelves everytime. I count myself extremely lucky to have found two (two!!) on Christmas Eve! (They were both gifts for other people in case your are wondering)

Hasbro knows that the big, ugly aliens sell like hotcakes. So hopefully Hermi didn't show up on the most recent fan choice poll because Hasbro is considering making him anyway. We can only hope.

01-01-2003, 09:18 AM
After the amazing job on Ephant Mon, I want one too.

01-03-2003, 01:34 AM
Hermi!!! The question is why isn't he already made. He's been requested for over a year now. Please make him, and where is ROTJ Jabba.

01-06-2003, 01:45 PM
Hasbro should look at it this way: Hermi is the last big ugly alien from Jabba's palace that needs to be made. Amanaman and Ephant Mon were the only others (aside from Jabba himself).

Although some could make a case for Cane Adiss. However, there are still too many unknowns about that alien that should probably be covered in another thread.....

Anyways, after Hermi, Hasbro is done with the big aliens from Jabba's Palace and can focus on the more normal sized critters.

..not counting a new Jabba figure. I have the Jabba Glob sitting on the throne in my diorama. He would make a great Screen Scene.

I'm sure Hermi would sell just as well as Ephant Mon.

01-06-2003, 02:30 PM
I was meaning figures that could be offered on a card, needing a new ROTJ Jabba is almost a no-brainer. The last one we got was in 1983!

Some could argue that, like the Jabba Glob, Jabba himself could be carded. However, not if he is to be a proper ROTJ Jabba. In which he would need his throne, pipe and bowl and a sitting Salacious Crumb at the very least. Of course, we would need more than just this (like the animal skins he sits on, the fanning Jawa, the BBQ spit in back -- the features offered with the Vintage Jabba are the bare minimums). Thus they could pack Jabba as a Screen Scene, personally I'd happily pay $40 for a well made Jabba with Throne playset with all the extras and two or three pack in figures (dancing Oola or sitting Leia, fanning Jawa, Wol Cabas****e and a new Salacious Crumb-- along with Jabba himself of course).

01-06-2003, 07:23 PM
J'quille the Whiphid, Hermi Odle, Yarna D'al Gargan, Cane Adiss, Jabba the Hutt, all should be made soon. It's easy enough to shove a smaller figure out in every wave that comes from the palace but the larger ones need better treatment and with all these Jedi and bucket headed bounty hunter figures clogging up the shelf space there's no room for nice toys. Ugly toys. :D Anyone else bored with the corew characters already? Time for positive action on the aliens front I reckon.

01-07-2003, 02:03 PM
I forgot about J'Quille, Jargo, although I have always thought that he would be roughly the same size as a Gamorrean Guard at the largest (same with Yarna). Hermi, Cane Adiss and Jabba seem to be in a whole different category of bigness (and ugliness).

And I am also sick to death of core characters. If we never see another Padme, Anakin, Jango, Obi-Wan, Luke, Han or Vader it will be too soon.:)

01-13-2003, 06:32 PM
I, too want a Hermi figure!!!!!!! and Yarna, and tooth face...
MAKE A HERMI !!!!!!!!!!

01-13-2003, 07:48 PM
I am glad to see that J'Quille made it into the mix. Though he is a bit on the "plain" side, I would also suggest Mosep, one of the more interesting looking human characters in the old palace. He is clearly visible at least twice and would round out the human/alien mix.

01-14-2003, 02:51 PM
Not to mention that mosep appeared first in Mos Eisley as Luke and Ben leave the used speeder lot Mosep crosses the screen. he was also used as a substitute for jabba in the comic adaptation of star wars. At the time the comic was drawn up they were using an early draft where the Jabba docking bay scene was still in the movie. No-one had any idea what jabba would look like so the design for the Mosep alien was used thus adding to the kudos the alien design should have. making it into ROTJ as a courtier of jabba makes him cooler again. hasbro should just stop with the selective releases based on what might or might not sell and just make all the palace creatures since us collectors will likely buy every last one. The beauty of aliens is that you can easily customise them to get more of the same race provided they don't have a strange neck connection.

J'Quille might be plain but he's interesting enough and large. large aliens are good. I just read his story in tales from jabbas palace and while not really a fan of EU I did enjoy his plotting. I wasn't a big fan of him before though. but now he's cool, an interesting face, another hairy alien and i like the idea of him having enormous talons. As I read the tales from stories all the characters are taking on a new appeal, I don't necessarily buy all that's written about them as a given, but it does add another layer and rekindles flagging interest. So yeah, hasbro should just churn out the aliens from the OT. These newer CGI aliens from the prequels aren't nearly as interesting as the old fashioned rubber mask aliens. MORE HASBRO, SOON!

Well I certainly hope that everyone who wanted one was able to get one by now.
