Why was it released with a green saber and not blue?

Blue LED lightbulbs are very expensive. All the other costs about the same, but the materials used for the blue ones and the hard work involved in making them would have raised the price of the Power FX Obi-Wan beyond the price of the rest of the line. They tested using a white bulb, with a blue plastic saber but the glow was pitiful. It was finally decided that they would have to go green to get a decent glow on the figure. :(

I also forgot, that the older Blue LED lights at that time didn't glow very brightly at all, as well as being expensive to use and manufacture. Of course later bright blue LED lights did come about, they were even more expensive at the time. So it was either an expensive dim blue LED, an even more expensive bright blue LED, a white LED w/ blue plastic saber, or just slap a green LED on the figure, instead of disapointing everyone by cancelling it.

You can read these 2 articles, and there may be more out on the net about the lawsuit over the bright blue LED. :)

I thought blue LEDs didn't exist at all back then. Of course, I'm still curious as to why it didn't have a white LED in there.
