I got a Massif w/Genosion the other day, and I'm trying to make it into and avatar. I'm not having luck. :( Here's what i came up with:

Here's the original:
I figured one of you resident Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro experts could help me out. :)

you'll probably need to bring the resolution down a bit--i'd use the original image and resize it at the same time you change resolution, so as not to sacrifice any more image quality than absolutely necessary

are you using photoshop or another program?

I am attempting to use Photoshop 5.5. ;)

What will changing the res do?

Looks like a crop of the image, and then a resize. ;)

Didn't add any spiffy effects though, you forgot a lens flare! Gotta have a lens flare. :D

I'm assuming you used a digital camera to take the photo, you might want to take the Massif outside and photograph him in sunlight to get a brighter picture.

Once you get a new pic then post it here and Dar' Argol will crop and resize it for you. He's got nothing better to do.:p:D

And what is THAT suppose to mean Big-B?!?!?!?!:D :D :D

Here's the pic I think you were looking for Jason.

All I did was take your photo and run it through my Cannon Photo program. Resized it, cropped it in paint(this works better for me), then resized it to fit SSG again. Nothing special:)

Thx man, and I thought that the Mods were the bad guys. ;)

here's a crop of just the head, brightened & up-contrasted, then down-sized to about 43x75 pixels via photoshop....

I'm setting it as my avatar just for you to see. I'll switch back to my original avatar tomorrow.

I had a crack at a side shot for ya. Used a pic of the toy and painted the background black, softened the painted edges and then I resized it. Finally I buttonised the edge of the pic. just to offer an alternative. Ditch it if it's no good. ;)

Wow, that's awesome! If i gave you a higher-quality pic of head-on, do you think that you could do the same thing with it? I really want it to be head-on, but that just looks awesome.

I was looking for a head on but the clearest I had was the side on. It was the only one without the harness. Sure, post the pic and I'll have a go. :)

I can't get a good picture of these. I have a decent camera, but I don't have any place to take a good picture of it. i took some on my stove, but 2 came out blurry, and one is ok, but it could be clearer.

This may work out better for you:
I appreciate it Jargo.

Jason, it's late for me here so I'm off to me bed. Try to take a picture outside with better light or on a window ledge with natural light.
You're getting the pics out of focus because the artificial light isn't strong enough to give you a decent depth of field. With natural light you get a better sense of what's in focus and what's not. The pic needs to be really clear and crisp to be any good as an avatar that small. otherwise the pic just gets muddy and unclear and people look at it and think "what the frell is that!?" :) So take a nice clear pic and I'll have a go tomorrow. (Saturday) or whenever you next get the chance to get online...... :) In the meantime here's another one I did quickly. It has the harness on it but it's a front view.

ok, thanks for that. :) I'll get some outside pics, and post them here.

Here's just something I was messing with. I have another Photo program around here somewhere:confused:. I'm gonna have to find it, it had a lot cooler things I could do to photos:D

LoL, that's pretty cool, not avatar material, but cool, just the same. ;)

I finally got a half-decent picture of it. Whenever I viewed the image full-size, it was all blurry. While I was zoomed out, and clear, I took a screen shot of it, and finally got a clear image of what I wanted. Have at it. :)

How's this look? Nothing too fancy, but I think it should be in the size parameters for an avatar.

Thanks. :) I'm hoping that Jargo can come up with something like this (http://www.sirstevesguide.com/forums/attachment.php?s=&postid=120280) for me.
