I'm not certain. But I think that EpI and EPII should have been 1 movie. Sure it would have taken longer to film But I think it would have been better.

1. Take the best of the scenes of 1 & 2.
2. Dump all the bad scenes. (example: What Mediclorians are. Should have kept "the force" a mystery.)
3. (Help me out here) Somehow do that exciting action scene and then bam, goto black..."10 years later". Something like that.....hmmm maybe not.
4. Episode 1 Time frame: 30 years and 20 years before ANH.

Then when Episode 2 came out it would have been 16 and 12 years before ANH, it would be all about the fall out of Annie. Going from good to bad, then the fall out with Padme , showing the kids luke & leia separeted, dropped off. Killing spree of the Jedi. Ben and Yoda hide.

Which would leave Episode 3 at 8 years and 4 years of dark times...
PLUS the last 10 minutes of the movie being days or even minutes of showing the insides of one of the Famous Star Destroyer chasing down the rebel ship with the stolen plans. Showing Darth Vader and what they went through right before catching up. And via Emporer with holo's to Vader telling him to get those plans!

I think there should have been more than one movie to each episode. Such as EPS 3 parts 1 and 2.

Well if you read #3 I wasnt sure either how'd he would do it...but my big point I'm trying to get at is that Episode 1 could have been boiled down and some of the scenes taken out. Episode 2 could have had a few scenes taken out. Which leaves me to think that George has alot to do in EP 3. I know you know that and would agree. I mean what will he show us...what wont he show us...after we see 3, are we gonna think, thats it?? Because there will be 16 years inbetween 3 and 4. And thats alot. So much could happen in there. Important things that even YOU would want to know about. Wouldnt you think it would be cool to end the movie were it began in 1977. Well not exact to c3po and r2 talking but from the other point of view in the star destroyer or maybe a quick glimpse of the death star and vaders final thoughts after 16 years and finally its done?? I think after 3...we'll want to know more of the lost years, all 16 of'em.

No it wouldn't work because that is not what the fans want. They want their SW to be as rich as possible. Why do you think we hound the DVDs. We want to scrape everything togther to get out as much of it as we can. To condense it is to take away. We don't want that. If Lucas had the almightypower with no money, time, technology constraints. The SW movies would have been much much longer. Remeber he wanted to originally cram 1,2,3,4 into one movie. But he realized that would have been impossible to tell the story. GL may make lame characters, not so good story lines etc. but he makes sure he gives us details of what we want to see and know.

Though I wonder if it would've been different if they had made Anakin a teenager instead of a 9 year old with a huge head.

Wrong. Originally, he wanted to tell the story of all nine movies, and he was going to try to fit it into one, but it just wouldn't work, at all. He made the OT, and went back to the prequels, when technology was better suited for making the movies. Now, time's running out, so he dropped the last three movies.

I think GL should make EP 3 parts one and two! The first part could be Anakin's turn etc. The next part would be a close tie to EP 4 with Tarkin, Deathstar and the rebels.

I think AOTC should have been Ep 1, TPM doesn't feel like it really adds much to AOTC that couldn't be rapidly explained away with a few lines of dialogue or convenient writing (and gourd knows Lucas has used THAT trick before ;)).

Was I getting my facts mixed up when GL said that, I could have sworn that is what it was. He said he took the most interesting of all those and made EPS4.

There have been so many rumors on this (Many spread by GL himself), it's hard to be sure. This is the one that makes the most sense to me, and it's the one I stick to.

Now that i look back on that post, I came off like an ***, sorry about that. :o

Lucas' pre-1997 statements about this are that the original film was what we now know as Eps 4, 5, and 6 before Lucas decided to focus on just the Ep 4 elements; and the prequels were some loose concepts he put together when he decided he needed a little backstory for the Star Wars back before SW came out. (According to his statements in the THX vhs interview)
