A guy at Celebration II had a Toy Fair Vader, and I asked how much it was worth.
$250.
I said no, of course, and squealed and ran away to the Steak 'n' Shake across the way.
But seriously, it was $250.

well.........the person is high if he expects me to shell out 250 for R2, rather than wait 2 months and get it as part of whatever deal TRU is having.

$10 less dumb than the person who paid $260 for one on the first auction that used RebelScum's pictures.

It's kinda sad how the secondary market spikes free promotional items to rediculous prices. Like Theatre Luke, this piece has a retail value of $0. It never had a price, it never should have a price, and any price set upon it is speculative.

Which is why I deem giveaway items worthless. Nice to have if you can find them, but have only sentimental value (which, normally, doesn't have a price, either).

That price might not be so far off, after it comes out. They are only producing 15,000 and someone reported that there are about 700 stores in the U.S. alone. So if you figure that out it comes to a little over 20 per store if it's only a U.S. promotion. So, maybe the $250 might be closer to it's value than we think. Value is based on what people will pay for it.

Someone's only reported that there could be 15,000, that hasn't been confirmed yet.

I bet the Fanclub will offer this just like the Vader. And if your store only gets 20 be aware that the Scalper will come out of the woodwork on the day it's released so goodluck!!

Well, if the guy can afford $250 and really really wants the figure, I say "Let 'em have it."

Same thing happened when the E2 figures started showing up on Ebay before they were released. Some sucker with deep pockets pays big bucks to have somthing before almost anyone else. It's bragging rights, plain and simple. Well, I will have more satisfying bragging rights. I may not have mine first, but it won't cost me $250+ plus either. ;) :D

I could've sworn the best bragging rights were always who got it the cheapest without having to go to some low-life like a scalper.

It's not dumb, it's stupid, just like all exclusives are.

Now that someone has stupidly paid $250 for R2 it almost sets a trend on the value of the figure, like "wow it went for $250, that must be what its worth"
The same thing happened with TF Vader and J. Sacul the first prices set the precedent and people value it on seeing the price it goes for.
Personally I hope they make 15,000,000 and it is a worthless pegwarmer, otherwise it will just keep J.Sacul and TF Vader warm in my list of "there is more important things in life than" :D

If we find only 10,000 of these R2-D2s are made they the person paying $250 will have made a great bet. After all thats all he is doing is betting they will be low in quantity. Still I would say wait until you find out more about this figure b4 you dump $250. Unless you make plenty of dough.
