View Full Version : Bring Back the "forum users online" feature

At the bottom of the main forums page (http://www.sirstevesguide.com/forums/index.php?s=) it used to list who's online.
This made it easy to private message people and find them, or their last post.
I'd like to see this feature return. I've only noticed it's been gone for a few days now.

I don't know why it's gone, but last time it left, it was because WO was using up too much system resources.
If people are in your buddy list, it'll tell you when they're online whenever you pop up your buddy list or go to your user control panel.

I didn't want to use the buddy list personally. I have no buddies. :(
This was actually quicker, easier, more seductive. So I hope it can be brought back.

JarJar, and to everyone else I talk with frequently, I like speaking with you, but I don't really want to know everything / everywhere you post. Yeah, most of the time I run into you guys anyway, because we have most of the same interests. But I almost always have stayed out of the Lego section for example, and some others, and I don't want to know if any of my online friends have posted there in particular. I'll venture in the forum if there's something to interest me in reading or posting there. But I don't need to get your movie reviews either. But there's a case where sometimes I'll go looking for them - but by the title of the movie in the thread. I don't want to know every movie you've seen lately, for another example.
It's true I've never tried the buddy system, so I don't know what it will do that I want it to, and what it will do that might annoy me. So barring the fact that the users online might be reinstated if Steve decides to, I may use the buddy thing if and when I'm searching for you guys enough that it becomes desirable.
I just had the image of Binksy sadly heading to his buddy list to scrap Tycho's name. :p
Tycho, it doesn't bother you with every one of a prospective buddy's posts, it just states whether or not they are online. :)
Hmm, maybe you can set it up in different ways, but that's been my experience with it. :)

I'd have to agree. The "Forum Users Online" was a quick way to PM or drag up a profile of someone you wanted to talk to.
I do have my main buddies on the Buddy List feature..but then one must keep dragging it back up to see whos on..instead of just scrolling to the bottom of a page:D :D..Maybe I'm just lazy..;)

Theres a buddy list on here? :o
I liked the "Who's Online" thing, it was especially cool to see what the record was for most people on-line. :D If it was taking up too many system's resources, I can see why you took it away, even if it will be missed. :(
