I love star wars, my second love is cars. I'm just curious, what are Star Wars fans driving these days? I myself drive a 2000 Mustang. So what do you guys drive to Wal-Mart in?

Well, my first car (and the one I'm still driving, since I'm 17) is an 1989 Honda Accord. I did add a few of my own modifications to it, such as a loud exhaust system and audio system. What I really want is a Monte Carlo SS, but I here that Chevy's coming out with a V8 SS in 2005, so I'll wait til then to get one. Gotta love the stick!

Oh, and this thread might get moved to the general discussion area, but I don't know.

I'm 34 and I can't drive and never felt the need to learn how. I get my partner to drive me to stores and we have a Ford KA, this will change on Saturday when we get the new Renault Megane expression plus 1.9 dTi 80. From Noddy car to proper car. Lovely mover. Goes like **** off a shovel! :D You can get so much in the trunk. 6 CD autochanger as standard. outstanding. Opted for the deisel version because it's cheaper and you get better mileage per gallon/litre. Megane used to be the safest car in its class and I guess it still ranks pretty high. Can't believe though that it's still one of the only cars over here to come with front passenger airbag as standard not to mention lateral airbags. You don't get that with Ford which is why we decided to go with a car made by a company that cares. Now, if only they'd make height adjustable front passenger seats as standard to cater to short arses like me I'd be as happy as larry

Hey, don't knock the KA. It's one of the most manouverable small cars ever and turns on a dime. Goes like the clappers and has excellent fuel consumption. The trunk is a fair size and the comfort for the type of car it is is unbelivable especially if you drive good distances. Parking is no problem whatsoever, heads turn whenever you drive by and it's funky. But for me it's an embarrasment. I want a boy racer type car, Volkswagon Golf or something. My partneris somewhat older and wants a nice comfortable drive and that's why we went for a more sedate style. But you should see how the megane takes corners WOOHOO! :D Try that in a KA and you'd tip right over. Road holding par excellence.

I started out with a maroon '72 Chevy Malibu. It was big.

I moved onto a tan '80 Chevy Impala. It was a boat.

Then I got a black two-door '88 Chevy Cavalier.

And now that I have child(ren), I've gone respectable with a boring 4-door, silver '97 Chevy Lumina.

I'm with Jonna in the Point A to Point B dept. I don't need a fancy sportscar since I'm well endo...WHOA! What was the topic again?? (tugs at collar) Ahem.

97 Ford Taurus LX. Good engine, very agreeable to not getting oil changed as needed. Stands up to abuse and negligence like George Foreman stands up to left hooks. Great car, I'd be proud to get another when it's (she's) gone.

Up until about 2 weeks ago I was driving a 98 Jeep Cherokee. Then my dad decided to trade me his BMW convertible for it straight up. So now I have the BMW convertible, which is completely paid off, and he has the Jeep which also has the monthly payments. I think I got a good deal with that one.

first it was my grandma's '78 chevy malibu, baby blue inside and out... that car rocked!

then it was an '87 mustang with the 2.3 fourbanger... it was okay, i ran it into the ground, though...

right now i have one of my dream cars... a '95 chevy caprice police car... got it off auction in my town. it's got a 5.7L LT1 motor, the same they used in '92-'94 corvettes. it's a fun vehicle. i have an upgrade package in mind that can bring it up to 600 hp... yes, i'm probably going to die in it...

but not before i get my other cars i want...

'79 DeLorean DMC-12
'70 Boss 429 Mustang
'03 Cadillac XLR (cadillac's corvette...)
and an '80's T/A that i can turn into KITT from knight rider...

My first car was a '69 Buick Electra 255 2-door with adjustable pneumatic rear shocks and an electric bench seat. It was blue but someone messed up the hood so that was replaced with a white one which added to the car's "land whale" look. Unfortunately, the gas gauge was broken so I spent more time pushing it than riding in it and since it weighed around 2 tons, it became too much to deal with. :D

Now we just have some small SUV which is a major lemon! We had to replace the last SUV quickly because Rebecca "Maddog" Gayheart plowed into the last one the same day she was charged for killing that kid in our neighborhood with her friend's car. This time, she was eating a bowl of cold cereal in a rental car and was driving way too fast, lost control and plowed into our parked SUV, spun about, hit it again and the car ahead of it and then flipped over. Luckily, nobody was in the car, but if she had left the house a few minutes later, there would have been.

Derek, yes, I'm very serious, she mangled it up pretty bad, hit it hard enough to bend it's rear axle on impact, and it was a 4x4!

She pled no contest to misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter for running over that kid (which was literally less than one mile down the same street, though she was going in the opposite direction). She got 2 years probation, 1 year suspended license, and has to produce several safe driving commercials. IMO, she should have gotten the book thrown at her, she whipped around a car that had stopped for the little boy and hit him while she was on her cellphone, I think. Then, a few months later, she plows into our parked car and nearly kills herself - she WOULD have killed anybody getting in either parked car if they were there.

Her insurance paid for the replacement car, which unfortunately is a lemon and we're STILL trying to diagnose the problem(s).

Gillian Anderson didn't throw it at me! :D Just in front of me, she's a litterbug.

Well, if Comic Store Guy was any indication then we'd all be driving rusted AMC Pacers.

I have a 1997 Dodge Caravan (the family guy thing ya' know) and a 1992 VW Jetta with a sunroof.

I love my Jetta, although it needs some work done which I've been putting off. The trunk could fit a king's ransom of SW figures, it's so huge.

My first car was a 79 Audi 5000. For its time it was a kickin' luxury car. By the time I got it I guess you could say it was definitely not in that category anymore. The weirdest thing about it is the battery is under the rear seat. The car cost me $600 in 1992 and probably cost me about the same for all the mechanic work I had to have done on it. Up to the time I bought my finacee (now wife) her engagement, that car had cost me more money than any other thing I've bought before.

Much like dingodad, to fit in down the Southern way, I drive a pickemup truck:

1999 Ford Ranger XLT (Harvest Gold exterior, Medium Prairie Tan interior, just hit 36000 miles)

Havnt made many modifications to it. Added a Bugflector & just purchased a Visteon Mach MP3 player of Ebay tonight.

(my first car was a 1987 Dodge Shadow ES Turbo, hasnt quite made it to the redneck stage of blocks, but its sittin down in a field with supplies in it, kinda like a shed with wheels!! :))

I'm in a white '89 Nissan Pathfinder also.

I love it. But it's getting to the 160,000 mi point.

Reminds me, I have to pass my smog test this week...

SUV's - the most popular for of transportation for environmentalists, oil companies, and politicians who benefited from Enron. You gotta love 'em.

Oh well, my truck is modified for off-roading and convenient lauching of my SeaDoo and that took me years and finding the right parts after I changed my mind over and over again. The stereo system's great too (definitely not stock ; ) )

But I just plan to keep this truck up. I don't really want to replace it with another vehicle. But ask me that again after I go and try and pass my smog test... (in California you have to in order to get your registration renewal - and I DO support the environmental concerns behind the reasons it is the law... just would rather not be doing that this month. I'm quite busy and don't have time for the next round of repairs... besides the truck runs fine. Oh well...)

My other vehicle of choice is an X-wing fighter. For Star Wars video games or short-term space travel, there's just nothing like it.

The tranny in my '84 Toyota Camry gave up in March. A new one would cost more than the car was worth. It was donated to the local community college's auto shop for the students to resurrect (if possible).

In the meantime, I've leased a 2002 Toyota Highlander. I wanted some kind of mid-life crisis car, but that's all I could afford.....

DeadEye, feel free to ask me for assistance on deciphering derek's questions. :)
Rusty's wife Andrea was the psycopath who drowned her kids in Texas.

Hey, remember that scene in Swingers when Favreau's answers that stuck up girl's query of what car he drives? He answers honestly, "a red Cavalier." Of course, she blows him off . . . and then at the end when Heather Graham asks where he's parked, he tells her he owns the "red piece of s+++ over there."

Caesar,

I'd really like assistance in knowing what the hell happened to derek. He was my first friend when I joined these forums, and now he's my only "enemy."

BTW, I'm not 16, I'm not a farmboy, Natalie Portman is not my girlfriend, and I'm not from Kansas.

so you admit you are rusty yates? i knew it.

what happened to me?
where do i start?
basically, dead eye, you are an ***. you annoy the heck out of me. all you do on these forums is post little one line random thoughts with no meaning what so ever. you add virtually nothing to the discussions in these forums. you will never admit when you are wrong, instead you launch verbal assualts at those trying to help you. i just hope you don't treat people like this in the "real world"

this fourm is not your personal chat room.

either this is what's wrong with me , or maybe i'm still peeved over how much episode 2 sucked.

yea, now that i think about it, i'm just disapointed in episode 2.;)

no, it's both. you are an *** and episode 2 sucked.

Dang Needles, big enough avatar?

If you need a smaller version, then I cropped and resized that image for ya.

Sorry about this not adding to the car topic, but I don't think you can send attachments in private messages.

Maybe that avatar can be deleted as well. :D :D :D

DeadEye, I wasn't sure on how to approach the whole mass murderer thing, so I eased into it with my mock-offer.
I didn't want to seem like I was making fun of that situation, the woman is a complete nutjob but I'm so sad about those kids. And her husband is a moron for being such a media w**** and disrespecting his kids that way.

Not even Yoda can understand the enigmatic derek, I'm not sure I could be of much help.

What I can say is this - conservatives are a slippery bunch, as Nute Gunray would say, "Use caution." :D :D :D

What a mess this thread is, I had to scroll back a few pages to even remember what it was about.

Anywho, my first car was a cherry red, 1.2 liter monster of a Ford Festiva! After I totaled the Festiva (whoops), I got a Dodge Daytona - I loved that car. Then one day I was sitting at a light and noticed a little something coming from under the hood. "Hmmm, is that smoke? Maybe my radiator is a little hot..." Whoooooooosh!!!! Aaahhhhhhh! My whole front end goes up in flames! After I barrel-rolled out of there and the fire department hosed it down, it turned out to be an electrical fire - bad wiring they say. Next, I inherited a grocery gettin' Dodge Caravan (threw a rod on that one), then an '87 Saab (what a p.o.s.). Finally, I traded in the Saab to get the '99 Camaro I'm driving right now. My friends have a pool going to see how long this car will last.

Apparantly, I go through cars like DeadEye goes through women. :crazed:

I rteally hope a mod simply cleans the crap out of this thread and restores it to the decent thread it once was. this bear baiting is getting to be a real drag. It's not even funny or interesting anymore.

moving swiftly on.....

I've never been in an accident ever. I have a friend who buys excessivelt expensive cars to be a snob with and every time he buys one and drives it for the first time out of the showroom he gets broadsided or the engine fals out or he gets rammed by a bus. It's like fate and now he just waits for it and hads the cash ready to get the car stright to the garage to be fixed and has all the legal stuff worked out in advance of it happening. It's really funny.

Less than a year ago, actress/model/childkiller Rebecca Gayheart plowed into the back of my family SUV, totalling our car and flipping her rental car upside-down. This was the same day she was officially charged with vehicular manslaughter for killing that kid a few months earlier, and that was only a few blocks south of where she hit our car no less. The reason she put her car into ours appears to be that she was eating a bowl of breakfast cereal and speeding and lost control of her rented Mazda. She survived the wreck with almost no injuries at all, left the scene before the police arrived, but luckily her insurance gave us an ok settlement pretty quickly. But we couldn't find another Blazer 4x4 in that good condition for what we got, so we had to settle on a 2-wheel-drive version from the same year and it turned out to be a bit of a lemon that we can no longer afford to fix all the problems on.

Oh, and Ms. Gayheart got a whole year of a suspended license and 2 years of probation for speeding around stopped traffic and KILLING THE CHILD the other traffic had STOPPED FOR!!!
