View Full Version : Do you want cinema scenes back and which do you want?

Didn't really buy any Episode I cinema scenes but bought all the previous ones... do you want return of POTJ cinema scenes? Loads of potential I think for armies and new releases, and also what backgrounds and other extras i.e. Mynocks....????
I think I would like to see Vader holding Leia with Moff Tarkin watching a watery Alderaan about to be destroyed, which would be cool!!!!

Well. Yes! The Cinema Scene 3-packs were really neat. Plus we got several first-time figures with them. I think it would be cool to see new 3-packs, maybe Hasbro could finally release that Pit Droid set we got gipped on during the Ep. I glut.
What extras? Droids, and some more little critters would be neat.
OOH! Maybe a Mos Eisly civilians 3-pack with scurriers? Now that'd be neat!

I'd like to see a Cinema Scene with Jedi Council members! They could do 2-3 of those alone! With Council chairs and articulated knees!
I love the Cinema Scenes. I have all of them including the EP1 stuff!
The trouble with these is distribution and package proportions!!! Hasbro should do 2 at a time and pack them evenly, say 4 of each!
I remember when the Rebel Pilots first came out, some people were paying $20.00+ for them. A year later KB was unloading them for $9.99!!!
BTW a CS with Vader choking CPT Antilles and a Stormtrooper watching would be GREAT!

I like the Cinema 3-Packs, but I don't like having to pay $21.99 or what not (I'm cheap). Thats why I bought my Rebel Pilots and Ghost Jedis for $9.99 (thank you KB). When I have the cash I'm gonna get the Skiff Guards (yes there $9.99 at KB.
I would really like to see some cool droid 3-packs. Maybe some random denizens from Jabbas Palace. Any droids and aliens would be really cool in my book.
Oh yeah, one question. Does anyone know if they released a 3 and 3/4 inch Pit Droid two-pack? I coulda sworn they did. I really want one if they did or didn't. Ok.

The Pit Droid 2-pk was released in the Episode 1 line.
The problem is that they are HTF. They came out with the last wave of EP1 figures; Sio Bibble, Amidala w/ascension gun, Holograpghic Darth Sidious, etc.
The European release seems to be a bit easier to find, but still cost a bit much.
Hope this helps.

I's like to see some EU 3-packs. Maybe from Dark Forces 2:Jedi Knight.

Leia being fitted for her slave costume scene, including R2-Blackstone the amazing "happy" (the other word got censored) wonder designer, and a peeping tom alien peering through the curtains!
What about a "Behind-the-Cinema-Scenes" which includes crew members and equipment shooting our favorite sequences:
When Jar Jar tells Qui Gon about the underwater city, they could include an Ahmad Best figure that is wearing the Jar Jar costume! Cool, huh!

What about an "alternate universe" SW cinema scene? There could be one where Qui-Gon doesn't save Jar Jar from the MTT and he's smashed into the ground with an amused Obi-Wan looking on.
Or what about one where Luke goes back to the Lars' homestead a little too early and gets fried? You could have three smoldering skeletons outside the house.
Another cool option would be "George Lucas flunks out of USC film school." It could have him flipping burgers at McD's with Mark Hamill filling up a coke and Carrie Fisher taking someone's order.
Do I hear "Would you like fries with that"?

Is that on the Commtech chip?

Enough of this silliness. Cinema Scenes were the start of a good idea, but never fully developed. If the "backgrounds" were all meant to be interconnected to create either one large display or one bigger playset then great. But they weren't so their value (beyond just collecting everything that gets made) is diminished especially since most of the figures are/were available as carded versions anyhow.
I'll sneak an insidious plug once again in here for Bucket O's. A much better method for distributing large amounts of army builders and those secondary characters that Hasbro believes won't sell in Peoria, so to speak. (IE Bucket O' Stormtroopers, Bucket O' Cantina Aliens, etc)

There was indeed a pit droids cinema scene 3 pack scheduled, which BTW never saw the day of light, maybe thats why we got the pit droid two pack.
Anyway...i would love to see the return of this line...we can have Jabba's palace aliens, Cantina Aliens, Jedi Council, Imperial dignitaries..etc... the EU sounds cool also!!:D

Well, if I remember correctly from the Hasbro Q&A sessions this summer, they said that the cinema scene line wasn't really cost-effective. The packaging, as well as the plastic bases, drove the cost way up. But I would definitely love to see them return.
And I agree about the army thing too. Bring on some Ewoks, Aliens, Henchmen, Wookies climbing trees - who knows what lies in store for the next one? Maybe we'll get a cinema scene of some clones attacking or something. Oops, I hope that wasn't a spoiler.

Yes to Cinema Scenes!
A leisurely walk through the Old Forums will show some really good ideas for the 3 packs. (We've had some good ideas on the New Forums, too.....)

Like many of you, I'd like to see the cinema scenes return. I think the classic scenes that are being released next month may be the start of that.
Also like many of you, I'd like to see them moderately priced. I remember picking up the Death Star Escape CS for $15 or less. The prices continually increased to $20. I think $10 - $12 is a reasonable price.

I think they shouls make a lost scene 3-pack of Biggs, Camie, and Fixer.
Also I'd like to see a three pack of Qui-Gon, Anakin, and Shmi where anakin is saying goodbye.

Good ideas, Jedi Master. Here are a couple of other ideas:
* Rebel leaders -- Generals Dodonna, Rieken, and Madine. Not from the same movie but still cool. Or one of Mon Mothma, Akbar and Madine from the ROJ briefing.
* Luke, Yoda and ghost Obi Wan from Dagobah.
* Rebel or snowtroopers on Hoth. Each figure would be just a little different but great army builders.
* Emperor and resculpt Royal Guards. I'm imagining the scene where the Emperor is walking down the shuttle ramp.

How about a 3-pack of major Episode I mistakes:
A Midichlorian, Jar Jar Binks, and Qui-Gon Jinn.
The back of the packaging could explain why each of them was a problem, both for continuity in the series and/or just plain annoying and unnecessary.
I'm not quite sure what their backdrop would be, but I'm leaning toward a photo of GL sitting at his typewriter with a thought bubble which envelops the trio.
I might whip this one up myself, if I could figure out how what a Midichlorian looks like.

Hee hee hee! Good one Stillakid.
I dunno....I think Luke w/moisture vaporator, and a large Tredmill droid could pass off as a 3-pack if not a deluxe set. :p Granted the vaporator isn't a character...or is it? Luke could talk to it...he could! Better conversationalist than that danged tredmill droid.
Luke: "sooo...hows it going?"
TD: "Beeep beep beep bep"
Luke: "You don't say?"

How about a final Jedi dual cinema scene, maybe even as darth maul has the final blow on Qui-gon Jinn.
Or a scene on the death star as Vader and his two wingmen head for their ships for the trench battle.
A Shadows of the empire scene would be pretty cool.
And a battle of Hoth scene or a probe droid scene.

I absolutely agree that cinema scenes should come back. The only reason they died out is that Hasbro insisted on creating nothing but TATOOINE related scenes. Why make 3-packs from the most boring planet in the starwars galaxy??
I think a great one would be , as somebody (forget who) said before a JEDI COUNCIL scene with a few members that have yet to be made. That would be GREAT!
Another idea is something from the Theed Palace. The thing about cinema scenes is that its a great opportunity to throw in three new figs that haven't been made into ONE set. So I'm thinking a Holograph Palpatine with the Queen in her chair and one more member from the theed elite people who were situated in the throne room at the very beginning of the movie.
a few more quickies are: Boss Nass and the High Priests, Couruscant Senate with a 3-pack of either the Wookies or the ET lookin' guys. Or a 3-pack works with the chancellor, Mas amedda and the other lady in the center, but they've made 2 out of 3 of those already. Anyway...so many possibilities in the STARWARS UNIVERSE!! Why restrict it to the planet that even Luke thinks sucks. Well, I can't wait for a Couruscant or Theed scene personally. Those planets have so much color and excitment that it's hard to believe that they haven't made up something for them yet. Well, just my $0.02!

How about a Balance of the Force Cinema Scene? It would include Emperor's Wrath Luke Skywalker (his body, arms, and legs except for his painted real hand would be made of transparent black plastic like Vader and he would have painted on and/or snap on lightning bolts similar too the Boomer damage Battle Droid, plus his head would have a tortured expression and be made out of transparent dark blue plastic and painted with the exception of his teeth and maybe a sliver in back to reenact the lightning effects on his teeth), Force Lightning Emperor Palpatine (same as the Flashback version with snap on lightning, except he would have a surprised expression), and Emperorís Wrath Darth Vader (same as the POTJ version, except his hand will be severed in the package, he would have some gears exposed like his skull, an he will be posed like he is picking up the Emperor).

I just received Admiral Motti today. To say the least, I was disappointed. He looks more like "The Thinker" than having his life strangled out of him. Some knees for him to sit down would have been nice too. I digress ...
Point being, a cinema scene of the Imperial officers from the Death Star at the conference table would be great. Sitting at the table in their respective chairs, discussing such trivial pursuits as the destruction of the Rebellion. That would be worth $20+, instead of three small Pit Droids.
Thinking of small ... why not Ewoks? Instead of just three, create six of the little critters to fight the hordes of Dirty Scout Troopers.

I think that the cinema scenes were great. I would love to see them come back in full force. I want ultimate cinema scenes though. I want:
Jabba's Palaca w/ Jabba, base, the whole deal with Yarna D'al Gargan
Trash Compactor scene w/ Dianoga, trash, Han, Leia, Chewy
(we alrady got Luke in the board game)
