I'm sure this is of no interest to anyone, but here are the images of the E2 AFs:

The hasbro links didn't work, so I saved them and uploaded them to my server.

Wow, I like all three of those. It looks like Hasbro may be drawing me back into the collecting of Micro Machines/Action Fleet. I especially have to get the AT-TE and Dooku's Solar Sailer. I love both of those vehicles in the movie, especially the Solar Sailer. :)

thanks for those, S43.

it's hard to get a feel for scale on the AT-TE, due to the unique stand, but I hope it is bigger than it looks to me.

The Dooku sailer looka kinda small on its regular AF stand, too. But nice. Well, I guess maybe not too small, with that sail.

07-08-2002, 03:27 AM
I dunno if this anything to be alarmed about, but I lightened up the picture of the Sailor and I couldn't see any indention in the stand for a place to put the figures if you wanted to display them loose...

I love the AT-TE and the Sailor though, I can't wait to see the Gunship, unless it comes with no figures. We really need it come with the two pilots and then have a Clone Trooper Battle Pack.

and it looks like micro machines is out of the figure business.:(

07-08-2002, 08:52 AM
yeah, and why Dooku's SS can't have foldy-outy umbrella-type wings is beyond me. Look what they did with the TF DS from EP1......

07-08-2002, 01:35 PM
I seem to recall that the sail is diamond shape when fully extended - I am right?

07-08-2002, 07:30 PM
The Solar Sailor is not exactly impressive but at least the AT-TE makes up for it.

check out this pic.. it looks VERY cool, I've only got one action fleet vehicle.. Shuttle Tyderium. I think I will be buying this one.
I wish they would show the mini Dooku figure. Do you think this will come with the pilot droid?

07-08-2002, 07:45 PM
wrong section, but holy cow!

07-08-2002, 07:49 PM
I'm pumped about the tank, but also hope it's bigger than it looks. I'm Dissappointed there are no mini figures being produced, but at least I'll get a chance to collect what I really want!

Where can I find these pictures of the latest Action Fleet vehicles?

07-08-2002, 08:26 PM
Its alright, it reminds me too much of a ship from Star Trek.

I think both look great. I think maybe Hasblow is going to release the mini figs in Battle Packs. Like Galoob did for the original AF. I hope they do anyway:confused: It would mean more money in their pockets:greedy: :greedy: :greedy:

Does anyone know Glitch? Maybe he knows whats up with the figures?

07-08-2002, 08:55 PM
And where would that section be?

Well, the AT-TE looks OK, though I don't see where figures are going to go on the stand or in the vehicle, but I think the Solar Sailer needs work - not only do I see no way for figures to interact with it, but it is tiny even including that sail. Nice to see the line isn't dead, but I'm hoping Hasbro will give us some straight answers on the issues of minifigures and MMs soon.

The AT-TE is nice, that gives me hope that they'll get the 4" scale vehicle right. A seemingly great miniature army-builder.

But the Sailer, that's a different story. They should have supported both the ship and the sail on the stand, and thinned and elongated the plastic between the sail and the ship. Horribly out of scale, too...the ship should be tiny.

hey! that does look like the ship from star trek insurection! ha! lucas copied!
just kiddin'

The AT-TE looks great, and I'll get it since I doubt they'll make a Saga one.

And the sail on Dooku's ship needs to be about four times larger!

This should really go in the MIcro Machines section . . . . . . so . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . *POOF*

07-08-2002, 11:11 PM
OK - I'm actually in the MicroMachines section and posting - but it's not exactly about MicroMachines, but IS about the Solar Sailer.

How does this thing work? I mean what's in the front of it that comes out and forms up -and how?

I think it's a cool ship - but it looks better with the sail deloyed and is kind of dull with it tucked in.

Now I know all about the theories of it catching solar energy and using the energy for silent, untraceable propulsion. I'm not talking about the mechanics of how the ship travels, I'm asking about how the sail is deployed.

07-08-2002, 11:29 PM
Slightly bigger, sharper pics are now on sw.com:

the new ships look cool, but man, I can't tell you how disappointed I am that there are no more AF figures. That is really a bummer.

Looks like you will just pop the parts down on the ship, then unhook the solar sail, then when want it deployed, those things pop up then you rehook the solar sail which is connected to the ship by a clear plastic strut.

Or it could be non-removeable...

It's about time they release some damn pics! I took a bit of a lashing a few months back when I posted some pics of the first protos before they made their grand debut on the Hasbro site.

All I can say right now is that there have been some changes made between the first protos and these models.

First, the scale. Dooku's Sail, in particular, is quite a bit smaller. The sail itself was originally designed as four identical parts that could be packaged stacked inside each other and assembled into a much larger scale. They would be packaged behind the ship allowing a much larger scale for the entire ship. It looks as though this version has the sail permanently attached and the scale has been reduced to fit the entire ship in the package. It now looks to be about a third smaller.

Second, it has always been the plan to include one figure. All ships and vehicles were designed with opening cockpits to accommodate AF figures. I still see signs that this may still be the case with the tank, but, at this new scale, it looks doubtful for the sail.

It is good to see these finally made public, but I'm not very happy with the changes.

I would hate to think that these are the last two AF ships to to be made with AF figures...

07-09-2002, 03:31 PM
Wow, that Solar Sailor would have rocked! Unfortuantely I'm not very impressed by the final version.

Final versions of the old unproduced podracers?! I noticed the new Saga figures in the photo. The last time i saw these toys was when one of each was sold on eBay. Glitch, are these from your personal collection or were these shown at Wizard World or somewhere? I guess you got my hopes up slightly about these podracers actually seeing production at some point. What's the story with these?

07-09-2002, 03:35 PM
I really like these MM Vehicles, but sadly I'll have to stick with collecting 3 3/4 figures and some of the 12"lines. Just too many things to look for and buy for that matter. Cool stuff though.

those photos of the mythical neva kee and boles roor pod racers look fontastique!

i am sooooo hoping that those two gems see the light of day.

c'mon hasbro! r&d's been done, these beauties can easily be rolled out on to the showroom floor in no time!

as fer the scale of dooku's sailer, it wouldn't surprize me at all to find out that the larger af sized version was scrapola'd in favour of utilizing a tiger mold that was being considered for that ridiculous key chain line that's currently gathering dust coast to coast.

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr:frus:

07-09-2002, 04:11 PM
Quick note:

The Neva Kee and the Boles Roor are from my personal colletion. It is just a quick n' crappy vidcap I took of them on my work desk, so they are not something from the show floor. I doubt they will ever see release, but my fingers are crossed!

Sorry, I hope I did not get your hopes up on these.

07-09-2002, 04:16 PM
Sorry, I hope I did not get your hopes up on these.

Glitch, "sorry" won't cut it here, buddy. I'm afraid you'll now have to send the Boles & Neva pods to GSJ, in order to make amends.

Hi Glitch
i was wondering do you know if there will be any aotc battlepacks???
Thankyou for any help

07-10-2002, 01:21 AM
Glitch: Would you happen to still have the original images of the Sailer and any others you might have posted and withdrawn? I'd really like to see what it would have been.

Also, I'm sure the Neeva and Boles Pods do nothing but detract from what I'm sure is an awesome collection. So, I'd be glad to do you a favor and take them off your hands :) :)

Seriously though, if you ever decide to sell them I want them.

07-10-2002, 02:26 AM
Glitch, I'm really sorry to hear of such a defacement of the AF Dooku Sailer. Sounds like that original one had a lot more creative design in it, the one Hasbro is showing seems like a small lump.

07-10-2002, 12:44 PM
is it just me or does the solar sailer remind you of one of those little series alpha vehicles?

07-10-2002, 12:48 PM
I wish they'd quit goofing around and just make the Republic Gunship and the Jedi Starfighter already!

07-10-2002, 05:10 PM
Although, I am very elated to finally see some steps to reintroduce Action Fleet, I am also alittle weary of the final product. I mean thankfully someone is listening to the fans of Action Fleet but, in the same context, I can't help but notice short cuts that may affect the quality of the series. Clearly Hasbro is somewhat confused with which seems tobe somewhere between Micromachine and Action Fleet scale. I am also concerned that they have left out an important part of the series, that being the play options, opening canopy/hatches, folding landing gear, some things that really make this series playable. Detail looks great but at the cost of losing its playability, I think Hasbro has forgotten that before this is a collectible, its also a toy. The saddest part of what I have to remark, is, I will still by this series, with welcoming arms, but in the same, it will also lose the appeal that made this series one of a kind.

The Cargo Bay......

..........now has pics and release dates for most of the new AF's (although it lists the release date of the 1st 3 as 1 June - ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?).

It also lists an AF Snowspeeder (no pic) - don't recall seeing this listed before.

Anyway, nighty-night (it's late here).

Jangu Fett
07-10-2002, 06:42 PM
Yeah, they added the snowspeeder, but did anyone notice they removed the Republic Gunship and Clone Transport?

07-10-2002, 07:06 PM
They also added an AT-AT.

Man they better not sacrifice the Gunship and Transport for re-hashes of the AT-AT and Snowspeeder. Especially since we definitely don't need figureless versions of those.

07-10-2002, 07:25 PM
if so, it would explain their using the weasle-words "hero vehicle" and "villain vehicle" on the SKUs recently sent to the retailers, instead of the actual names of the vehicles. We're all thinking "hero vehicle" might be a gunship, anakin speeder or (gasp!) jedi starfighter, but now they can dump a repaint snowspeeder into the slot.

jeeze, I hope that's not what's happening. what happened to my "Enthusiasm!!!!" Ack!!

Jangu Fett
07-10-2002, 08:14 PM
No the Gunship and Transport were listed. By name. And the AT-AT has always been on there.

FAO BRITS (sorry Yanks)

Just been chatting to a very nice man at TRU in Preston this morning.

He told me that they SHOULD (not guaranteed) be getting a delivery of Action Fleet vehicles on Tuesday and will be on the shelf on Wednesday.

Looks like I'll be working around Preston next Wednesday.

I've decided it's really Countess Dooku's I.U.D. !!! (http://www.actionfleet.com/images/SolarSailer.jpg)

I found the new MM Action Fleet today at Walmart in Pueblo, Colorado. I was only able to get 2 sets and I've already opened one set:( If I see more, I'll get another set or two. I have a few pics here Saga Action Fleet (http://www.twinsuntimes.com/toyforce/sagamm.htm) . I was curious to see if the date on the bottom of the X-wing was an "old" one, but was surprised to see that it is dated 2002. I really like the new Saga AF box..it's "cute" :p

I also put up a page of the Battlepacks, if you're interested...
BATTLEPACKS (http://www.twinsuntimes.com/toyforce/sagabattlepacks.htm)

I thought it was "mildly" interesting that the Action Fleet vehicles have the MicroMachines logo on them and the Battlepacks do not?

08-05-2002, 05:26 PM
If they are so hot on re-releasing Action Fleet instead of making new ones, why not re-release all the Episode I ships !?
Seems like they only produced about a dozen Action Fleet Sith Infiltrators.
I'd love to see some more Episode I action fleets hit the stores. They wouldn't even have to paint them any differently, I bet sales would be great.

08-05-2002, 05:55 PM
I think they were scared off by the failure of the first wave of TPM AF. Those ships collected dust on the shelves which caused the low production of the later waves (especially the Royal Starship, Tank, Infiltrator wave and the Alphas). It seems that they think the classic vehicles will have a much broader appeal (which is probably true) and will sell well enough to build a collector base to buy the AOTC stuff. If they brought out the AOTC AFs first there is a good chance that only the existing collector base would buy them (becuase Jo Schmoe collector already has a Jedi Starfighter and Slave I, etc that they bought a few months ago). Right now, AF is the only line where you can buy the classic vehicles (except for the TRU X-Wing) which is definitely a selling point to collectors who haven't already collected AF and are looking for something other than AOTC stuff. All of the existing AF collectors already have these vehicles, of course, but Hasbro knows that a lot of us will buy them again and those who don't will certainly buy the AOTC AFs when they come out. Right now there is some kid or collector who is experiencing AF for the first time because he/she had to buy that cool Millennium Falcon they saw at the store.

I know it's frustrating to all of us established AF collectors (Ifeel your pain, Wookie!) but it does make sense from a marketing standpoint (even if not including figures makes no sense). Not everybody loved TPM, unlike the original trilogy. The person out there who has never bought AF would be more willing to buy a Millennium Falcon than a Sith Infiltrator or Solar Sailer. Once they buy the one ship, they are bound to buy more so you give them what you know they will buy first to hook them. Anybody who posts in this forum is already hooked. :) They don't really need to market to us in the initial wave.

good shot jansen
08-06-2002, 11:12 AM
i agree with you on every point you raised. as fer it being frustrating to us long time collectors, i'm just glad to see af on the shelves again.

now that star wars is once again a current product (remember, star wars micro machines started in 93, and the af began in 96, all well before even the release of the special editions), by offering the familiar x-wing and falcon, new time buyers to the line will hopefully enjoy the outstanding toys that they are (even without the figures, these things are great), and will then buy the new product lines when they come out.

well said haggie! :)
