Hey guys. I guess I have been in a Super Hero mood lately. I love the new Justice League cartoon, and enjoyed the Spiderman movie. I have always loved the cartoons, and somewhat the comics. As a kid I read the comics enough to keep up with general story lines, but I never followed any regularly. However I had tons of toys, mostly Super Powers figures, and the Mego Super Hero figures. I would read the comics now, but I cannot justify the price of them for 5 minutes of reading.

I am not THAT impressed by the DC Direct line. They just look off somehow. I actually prefer the old Super Powers Figures over them I think.

Anyway, I have a few questions about the Marvel Legends line I suppose. Are Toad, Captain America, Iron Man, and Hulk the only ones released? I thought there was a Spiderman as well. I couldn't care less for Toad, but the others look good. I noticed there is a gold variant Iron Man, which looks pretty sweet. I don't usually do variants, but that one looks much cooler than the others. Anyway, I will of course be opening these.

Also, are they easy to find? Hard to find? Where do you usually find them? Wal-Mart, Toys R Us? Online? I haven't really seen them anyway, though I confess to not looking too hard. And how much do they usually cost?

Is the movie Spiderman figure similar to the Marvel Legends figures? Any more coming out soon? Have I asked enough questions yet?

Any and all help is appreciated.

I heard in Sept a few new MARVEL LEGENDS will be out:

THOR, the Sub Mariner [NAMOR] , THING , DOOM, etc

I saw several Spiderman sets at KB toy store, they also had the
"RHINO" , WALMART doesnt sell MARVEL LEGENDs, Ive only seen
them at TRU and KB toys. :Pirate:

I forgot to mention that I also saw the MARVEL LEGEND called:
"DARE DEVIL" at TRU that also comes with a comic book for $6.99
KB Toys sells them for $7.99 thats how much I paid for the RHINO
fig with comic book, the comic is a re-print of the old 1960's comic.

So far, the ones you listed are the only ones out. The next series of Marvel Legends will include Dr. Doom (who will appear with a variant), the Thing, the Human Torch and Namor, the Sub-Mariner.

The sculpts on these things are incredible, the articulation is amazing, and the choice of characters is really cool. Except for Toad - what the hell?

There is already a variant on the Hulk, other than a planned color/accessory var. The first shipments came with the Hulk's hands flat, fingers stretched out, like a fan. I noticed, recently, that they have changed the hands to incorporate moving fingers - there is a joint at the knuckles, and the fingers are molded bent, instead of straight. The fingers are molded together, not independently moving.

They are mainly found in comic book and specialty toy stores. I can probably help you out. PM me if you want more details than that.

I am not sure if the movie Spider-man figure is the same scale as the Marvel Legends, but it features the same amount of articulation. There is a series entitled Spider-man Classics, that is packaged and articulated much like the Legends. Hope I was of some help!

EDIT: the Rhino and Daredevil are part of the Spider-man Classics line, not Marvel Legends.

The "RHINO" has less articulation compared to the HULK fig,
the Rhino's head can turn and look up or down, his arms only
move at the shoulder socket, the elbows cant bend, the waist
can twist and the upper torso is double jointed and can twist or
lean forward, the legs dont have any articulation in the knees or
ankles, but the mid thigh and hip joint are articulated.

Thanks a lot guys! I guess I will go looking at Toys R Us for these! I will look out for the Spiderman line as well. I just wish DC had a good line too. Personally, I was hoping someone would have made a cool DC vs Marvel line to go with the comics. Oh well.

I was VERY impressd with the new Marvel Legends too but I can't bring myself to buy any of them. I'm not a particular fan of any of those characters, although I do really like the Iron Man character. I would strongly consider buying him but I dislike the classic designs which are what the current figure and the variant represent. If it had been a modern representation of him I would have snapped him up in a heartbeat.:)

The Spiderman Classics line is quite old by now and if lucky you'll only find the 2nd series in shops (Rhino, Daredevil, Spiderman, ?). Otherwise I think you'll only find the first lot on e-bay (Spiderman Classic, Symbiote Spiderman, Man-Spider and Venom).

I saw some pics of the 2nd set of Legends to come out on Action Figure Express, Thing looks pretty good.

The Spider-man Classics line and Marvel Legends line both utilize the 30+ articulation bodies. I consider them all the same line since they all work with each other.
The first Spidey classic line was, as Nihilus said, Classic Spidey, Blacksuit Spidey, a crappy Vanom, and Man Spider.

The second line up was Rhino, Daredevil (with a ultra rare yellow costume variant), Ditko Spidey from the classic comics, and Spidey based on the current(at the time) artist's conception.
The third line will have Dr octopus, Lizard, and two more Spidey variations.

The fourth line wil have Hobgoblin ( a sweetass figure!0 and THREE more Spidey variations. Stop it Toy biz. Enough Spideys.

The Marvel legends line has Hulk, Cap, Iron Man (with a gold variation) and (sigh) Toad.
The next line has Namor (in his icky new black outfit, not the classic green trunks) Thing, Human Torch, and Doom.
The following lineup has been mentioned having Thor, Hawkeye, Punisher etc.

There is also possibly an X-Men line being started as well.

Poor misunderstood Toad. No one likes The Toad! And I can't blame you, it is fairly poorly realized with the lacklustre paint job and oily looking overpaint.

However, from the standpoint of future collectibility, you may well want to pick one up if you find one. Though he is decidedly unpopular, you have undoubtedly noticed that there is rarely more than one on the pegs at a time (you would expect at least three or four). A customer of mine asked me to order a case of the current Marvel Legends for him. I inspected it upon arrival as he was hopeful to receive the gold, "Ditko-style" variant of Iron Man. He did not. But I did notice one rather unique aspect, there was only ONE Toad figure in the case of 12! I cannot speak for all case pack-outs, but this certainly seems rather telling. Perhaps Toy Biz felt that The Toad was too lame for words and just cut the production run short on that figure. If this is the case, he could turn out to be almost as rare as the variant figures.

This is too true. Given the fact that a series II will create a bunch of "completeists" that will need all of them, the toad will become a collectible just because you need him to fill out the whole set!

Yeah, but I can't bring myself to buy a Toad figure. I was never big into X-Men, except for a couple of them, but I always thought him lame anyway. I am going to stick with the figures I like. SUbmariner in his black outfit? They changed Submariner? Haven't seen that yet. Anyone got a pic of his outfit somewhere?

Dr. Doom, Thing, and Human Torch sound real cool! Although they better release Invisible Girl and Mr Fantastic (I think that's his name, Reed Richards right?) shortly thereafter.

Daredevil look pretty cool too, I may try and pick him up. I think I will also try and get the classic spidey blue and white. None of the other ones interest me too much. And why did they make Venom that way? That is a Hasbro type action stance.

Oh well, I am off to TRU today to look for a few of thee, to save me shipping charges. Thanks guys.

pthfinder89, Im just the opposite, I like the MARVEL LEGENDS
because they are modeled after the original characters , if they
were modern versions I probably wouldnt buy any  I had
the gold [bronze] varient of IRON MAN but I returned it and kept
the standard red & yellow, since Im not a completest type
collecter, I just buy what looks good. :Pirate:

Dude, that iron man is already worth, like, $40... it's REALLY rare, and I don't mean saga picture card rare.

Really? I've seen about a dozen of him at various stores.

Jango Fett - Yeah I figure most of the people buying these are more interested in the Classic versions, so I'm not against it or anything. They just aren't really my favorite.:)

Hmmm, I found the Spiderman classics at a local KB toys. I passed on most of them. I only picked up Daredevil and Classic Blue and Red Spiderman. I don't know why they did that with Venom. The black spiderman looks cool, but I preferred to get the classic one. I couldn't find the Marvel figures anywhere. Toys R Us didn't have a one of them. Ebay seems to have them for reasonable prices, I might go there for them.

Also, SMC had 2 KB exclusive figures, Scarlet Spider (a fig that was cut from wave 2, has wristbands and cloth vest) and Spider-Man 2099 (cool paintjob) - both are guilty of the same crime that halted the line at wave 2 for a year, most of the figures were simply direct repaints of Spidey in the black costume (even Daredevil).

The movie Spider-Man figure is based off the same SMC 30+ points body that ML is, only the movie figure has even MORE fabulous articulation! Don't fall for those 2nd wave phonies though, they're not nearly as articulated, instead pulling a Hasbro Saga and being all gimmicky.

I've seen these a lot at Target, TRU, and Wal-mart, and I have seen a relatively lot of gold shiny Iron Man, I even bought it when I picked up Cap (Cap kicks monster booty!), both are pretty great figs.

I stand corrected. I was confusing that with one of the upcoming variants. See? There's too many Spideys!!!

Captain A is clogging up the shelf in the one store I've seen stocking ML. I just don't understand why a character called "Captain America" doesn't sell well in Australia.:p

I ended up buying Hulk, Captain America, and Iron Man from ebay. I got them in the same auction for $21 plus shipping. Not too bad at all. I look forward to them arriving. And one thing I LOVE, is the ability to wall-mount them. That is so cool, especially when you already have a huge SW collection. :D

I love these figures, but I am afraid I won't be buy them. Can't "waste" money on these when there so much Star Wars stuff to be had :). Anyway, I think they are amazing. I like thier size and playability, plus the classic look of these characters we all know and love. Not since Justice League and the Toy Biz line that followed the first Bat Man movie have we had a chance to get real regular looking super heros. To the best of my recalection this is the first time we've gotten Marvel Super Heros since Secret Wars. Am I wrong??

Anyway, I plan on getting my cousin who turns 5 next month The Hulk and maybe Cap too. I also want to get him some of the new GI Joes too. I want to get him hooked at an early age just like I was :).

I've seen a rumored wave 3 of Thor, Ghost Rider, Wolverine and Magneto

Jango Jett
07-17-2002, 01:41 PM
icatch9, I would at least buy my favorite Marvel Legend, my
favorite has always been IRON MAN , I dont plan on buying the
whole series, just buy what you like and it wont cost much. :Pirate:

QLD

That is how I am going it jango. If the rumored wave above is true, I think I would go with Thor for sure. MAYBE Wolverine and Magneto, but not sure. I can do without Ghost Rider.

Plus, I have all SW figures released to present, so I need another diversion between SW waves.

Jedi Knightrider
07-17-2002, 02:30 PM
If the Ghost Rider has a 'cycle, I'm totally there! If the Wolverine is really good, as thus far they all have, I might have to get that. If the rumor on this wave is accurate, they really don't have a weak link like Toad getting in the way...

icatch9

I don't know as if I have a favoirte Super Hero. I never read comics when I was a kid. I've always liked super heros and loved the cartoons that used to be on (Batman, Spiderman, X Men, Ironman, Fantastic 4, and even the older ones with Spidy, Iceman, and the torch guy.) What ever happened to those and why aren't they on TV?

I guess it would be Spidy or Batman. There are tons of both of them avalable but I don't have a place to put them, so it would be just like putting $10 in a box. Probally should do that from time to time. That money sure would add up :)

Anyway this is off the subject so sorry. Don't need to start a "Who's your favorite Super Hero" topic hear.

Wave 3 is more than rumor, Action Figure Express is taking pre-orders on them.

What are some good online stores to buy these things from?? Every online place I go to is "sold out" or not carrying them, and I can't find them anywhere in my area at TRU or anyplace. Plus on eBay every auction I see is like a set of 4 for $50-60 or $10-16 each. That's way too much. I missed out on the Spider-Man classics (although a local TRU has like, 30 Daredevils that no one buys) so I'd really like to get these.

QLD

Forhekset,

Try looking at a KB toys for the Spiderman classics. I found all of them at a local one the other day! Keep looking on ebay though. I won an auction fo Hulk, Iron Man, and Captain America for only 24 dollars + shipping. I have seen a lot reasonable auctions on there for them.

I like daredevil, which is the only one I saw at TRU as well. I think a lot of people just don't know/remember him.

I love that... the second wave isn't even out, and someone is taking "pre-orders" on something that will be pretty easy to come by.
