I checked my records and here's Thrawn's answer from a FAQ post he did a year ago:
HASBRO POTJ TOYS: Thrawn's FAQ for 8/21 - Date Codes
Another very popular question answered.* Q: What do the Date Codes on the figures mean?* A: That is the date the figure was put on the card. For example on the Dagobah Vader you have "02791" 0 is the last digit of the year as in 2000, 279 is the day of the year (Oct 16) and 1 is the batch. Batch is the unknown number - say they made 150,000 in that batch and then ran out. Next date might be something like 10102. The highest batch I have seen was on the E1 deluxe figures. Those reached a 3.

The whole date thing is crap. It doesn't lower or raise the value of your figure. Either you have a figure mint in the package or not. Thats it.

So how does 279 come out ot be October 16th? Anyone? Anyone? I'm not trying to make an association with earlier figures being worth more then later ones cause of date codes. I just want some straight answers as to what they mean. It seems like there's conflicting reports.

If October 16th is the 279th day of the year out of 365, then that is how it turns out to be October 16th. ;)
See the date code example that was given was 02791, and with the given examples makes it Batch 1, October 16th, 2000.
Like on my Anakin's hotrod, it says 20211, meaning it was Batch 1, January 21st, 2002 because "021" would be the 21st day of the year which means January 21st. Get it? :)

If October 16th is the 279th day of the year out of 365, then that is how it turns out to be October 16th.
I can see clearly now the rain is gone. heh heh...thanks. :D

OBG, I believe your exact 4 date codes listed would be:
March 18th, 2002
March 25th, 2002
April 2nd, 2002
April 8th, 2002
(I notice the date codes are usually by week, seems like either they do one run per week or they simply make changes on weekly periods)
Glad Thrawn and I could be of service.

See, what someone should have originally posted at the beginning of this date code thing way back in April should have been this!
Just find the number and you can quickly see when the date was. That does make it much simpler.
The codes I provided by the way were the four different Jorg dates.
