Is the Tusken Raider with Massif just the POTJ Tusken Raider?

Yep, afraid so.

How cheap, I never thought Hasbro would stoop this low, this meens the Tusken and the Massif are just old figures re-packaged, why bother waiting I might buy another Massif with Geonosian and another POTJ Tusken Raider and put them together(Joke!).

Seriously though, the way that the Tuskens arms are possitioned, we might be abled to possition it holding the leash with two hands.

The one redeeming quality of it though, is that it does give a chance for those who didn't get the POTJ Tusken to finally get one. Also, its a generic army builder, so the more the merrier.

The problem is, the tusken looks pretty bad standing there without his gun. Hasblow should have at least put a new arm on him.

a magnetic head too :p

So has it been confirmed if the head is removable or not? Admittedly, if it's not, that is quite crappy. But whatever...it'll be good for some people.

I doubt it for it is a collection 2 figure........ That would have been soooo cool!!! It would be exactly like Jango FB!
Why couldn't they of just did that then it will be worth buying!!!
Why does Hasbro put in gimmicks that we don't want and then doesn't put in a gimmick that we do want!?!?!!?
I guess I'll still get him...

If you look at the back of the Tusken card, it appears that there is a new (but slightly crude) bicep cut.

*Sigh*

The POTJ Tusken Raider is one of among the current best Tusken Raider sculpt. If you want the Tusken Raider to have a weapon then take a rifle from the Episoce 1 accessory packs, the Gaffi stick from the Tusken Mother and let her walk the Massiff doggy, or you take the Gaffi stick for the rifle from TA Anakin.

My Wal-Mart still has tons of POTJ Tuskens.

Lord Tenebrous, that is the same bicep cut that is on the POTJ figure. I have it sitting on my desk right now. As to those that say he won't have a removable head, because he's collection 2. Don't forget that Collection 2 is getting magnets right now. The new Ki-Adi-Mundi figure has a magnet in his palm. Collection 2, just doesn't get action gimmicks. :)

MTFBWY and HH!!

I'll buy it only if it has a removable head.

Well...I'll be. Only the elbow on my Tusken doesn't move. I'll have to work on that. Thanks Jar Jar. :)

I happen to like the Tusken Sniper so I really don't see a problem with them using the POTJ mold for this. I do think a removable head would be a great addition but you have to consider Hasbro was probably just trying to get this figure out as soon as they possibly could once they realised that the Tuskens were the only species seen in the movie with Massiff's.:)

I don't think it has anything to do with that. I think it's about making a quick buck. Remember low production=more money for Hasbro.

I've noticed that the only thing different is the Harness hand thing, it's shorter than the one with the Massiff, with just one thing that wraps around the wrist of the Tusken.

Imagine if it did have a magnetic head.
HEAD SWAP!
We would have a Tusken Raider Jango and a Jango Tusken Raider!

For all the love a prospective removable head Raider is getting, wouldn't that be a pretty straight-forward customization? Drill a little hole here, a little hole there, a little magnet, a little chunk of steel...

Probably, but some of us (like me!) are absolutly HORRID at customizing....

Final Battle Jango Fett with launching flame effect. It's the Jango that everybody who didn't want spoilers but bought the figures and opened them complained about.

Actually, that's a bit of a stupid question, I should have known, I've got the Kamino Escape Jango and the Pilot version has only just been seen on the web, aso he lost his head in the final battle, how could I not know:o

Well, I bought and opened this figure today and can confirm that it's just a re-packaged, re-painted version of the POTJ figure - even the date-stamp on its foot says "2000". The robe is painted slightly darker/dirtier than the POTJ version, and the brown of the bandolier and mask is more "green" than "red".
There's NO magnetic/removable head (or any other gimmicks) and the massiff is the same as the one that comes with the Geonosian.
In short, the only element of this package that's at all new is the brown plastic wrist-fastener that holds the two figures together. This is missing the third closed loop that came with the Geonosian.

This is by no means a bad figure, but if you WERE expecting anything new here then you might want to pass on this one.

As Jek Porky 2002 has already read in a separate thread, I bought him at R2DToys, a specialist SW shop here in London - their website is www.R2DToys.com.
It's run by a chap who has some kind of connection to Hasbro (I think) and gets lots of deliveries early. He's just got back from a long weekend at a dealers' fair in Birmingham so it may be that the source of this figure appearing so soon here was from that event.

No pictures as yet, but I may try to take a comparison-shot of the POTJ/Saga figures tomorrow (it's getting a bit late here now). Doubt they'll be very exciting, though....

Just remembered it's London Beer Festival week, so I'd better get this out of the way, I suppose, to free up the rest of my time for the next few days....

Here's a comparison between the POTJ and Saga Sandpeople....

...And HERE's a holiday-snap of the whole Tusken family (including Barney the Bantha).

(Don't think Tatooine is supposed to look like my stove, but never mind....)

Thanks for the pic, I don't like the new Tusken at all it looks really cheap and can't even hold the leash with both hands.

kdp100
08-06-2002, 07:13 PM
Well, I suppose he CAN hold it, sort-of.....

I don't think he's any worse than the POTJ figure (which I quite liked) - the paint-job's slightly different but not necessarily inferior.

Man.... It should of had a removeable head to make it more unique......
I wonder if it would have 3 different variations like the Luke?! :crazed:

So has anyone determined whether Massif's are born with those harnesses, or is there some kind of Star Wars Petco that both the Tusken's and Geonosians shop at?

Just another example of Hasbro cutting corners and trying to push old merchandise as new stuff!
