Wasn't there supposed to be a deleted scene when Ben shows Qui-Gon his saber and it's shorted-out from being in the water (right after they disembark form the Droid Landing Ships)? I remember it in the book. And if that were so, then the deleted waterfall scene would have shorted-out both there sabers. Now if that scene was reincorporated back into the film, then they couldn't have saved the Queen, Panka, and all those other guys (maybe) when they were escorted by those droids. Makes ya' think.

I think the lightsaber only shorts out underwater if it's ignited. If it is shut off then it shouldn't short out. Maybe it was left out to prevent questions being asked about Obi-Wan's fight with Jango in the rain in Ep2.

It had something to do with the power cell being left on, not actually being ignited. It's another scene that deserved to be in the movie, since it would have made it clear why Obi-Wan just sat back like a lame-duck when the STAPs showed up.

Yeah, we're missing that scene, and it was DEFINITELY filmed because there are stills of it on the net.

Also, I'm told the DVD is missing the scene in the Tatooine desert where Qui-Gon jumps up on the ramp of the Royal Starship as it's taking off, Maul jumps up behind him, and Qui-Gon force-pushes him back off. These are 2 of the scenes I wanted to see the most. :(

What about the scene with R2-D2 on coruscant, falls over the legde and uses his rockets to save himself?

What happened with that scene?

The Obi-Wan swamp scene is in one of the documentary pieces... you see Ewan submerged in a water tank and then surfacing.

The Artoo scene is in part of the blooper reel... Artoo falls over the ledge, causing a loud crash and Liam and Jake start snickering. You can also see the Artoo with the booster rockets in view during "The Beginning"- I think. They have two Artoos... one is one the floor and another is being hoisted up on wires.

And there's a still in the still image gallery of Qui-Gon and Maul fighting on the ramp of the Royal Starship. The actual scene was QuiGon cuts off half of the ramp that Maul is standing on...

Question. There's an Image of George Lucas in the background of theed palace somewhere. Now that we have DVD, could someone give me the timecode coordinates when this shows up? I've never been able to find it, but now that we have digital clarity and I have zoom features on my DVD, I want to see it for myself. Thanks.

I don't have the DVD in front of me at the moment, but I know the scene you're talking about. It's toward the end of the movie when the queen and panaka enter the palace's upper level using the acension guns. When they are seen entering the hallway, there is a faint, slightly out-of-focus, picture of Lucas up by the ceiling. It's in a scene before they get surrounded by droidekas. It's probably much easier to see on DVD being clearer than on VHS.

If I remember correctly, wasn't there a scene filmed with Bail Organa in it?

Yeah, they filmed Adrian Dunbar the Irish actor and mate of Liam Neeson's doing the senate stuff. We should have seen a senate pod with Him, Agrippa Aldrete and Liana Merian. The delegation from Alderaan. Unfortunately poor old Adrian didn't have a very good American accent and his acting style wasn't dynamic enough for Lucas. Also his costume sucked. So he went the way of the cutting room floor.

With Jimmy Smits due to play Bail Organa in EP2 it's probably not included so as not to confuse folk. And also to make Jimmy look fresher. It's tough when an actor replaces another, the audience take a while to warm to the new actor and so maybe miss what's being said or conveyed. It's easier to just leave out the Adrian Dunbar parts and let us the audience learn to accept Jimmy as Bail Organa without the performance of Adrian getting in the way.

If the rumours of another disk of cut stuff is true then these scenes may make it to release after all. If that's so, then with recordable DVD technology we could start to see more and more phantom edits with some interesting cuts and insertions.....

Yeah that's right. I forgot about Organa (or Bail Antilles as he's called in EP1) being cut from the movie. I remember seeing some kind of miniature book from the company that makes all those cool cut-away diagrams of SW ships and stuff. The book had a picture of Organa in it along with a bunch of other characters that I think got cut out of the movie too.

Jargo, you mean actor changes like the Emperor from ESB to ROTJ? ;)

MC, he was called "Bail Organa" in one scene and "Bail Antilles" in another in the script. The Ep 1 Sticker book has a pic of Bail Organa in it with his name underneath.

Oh, hahaha JT. Yeah point out the flippin' obvious glaring mistake why dontcha!!!!!

Actually the Emperor doesn't count because he wears a hood and only appears in hologram form in ESB. If he'd appeared full facial and in person with real interaction between him and the other actors then it would have mattered.
Bail Organa was fully fleshed out and full facial. He interacted with characters in a big scene and it would have been too obvious that the actor had changed on viewing of episode two if they left the Bail Organa stuff in episode one.

I take your point JT, but re-submit mine just to be pedantic. :p

And I don't apologise for the lousy grammar in this post.:p

That scene is only in the EP1 Game and not the film

Sorry Jargo, didn't mean to bust your theory with little things like "facts". ;)

The Emp in ESB was nearly as fully-facial as ROTJ, and he interacted with Vader plenty in ESB even though it was a hologram. I think everybody noticed this change though, so it's not like it was a smooth transition from Monkey-eyes to McDiarmid, Lucas certainly didn't "get away with it". Lucas was just lucky that Ian McDiarmid pulled off a fantastic performance in ROTJ while the old lady was pretty bland and uninteresting in ESB (despite all the effort that went into making that look... I mean, who the hell thinks of using an old lady's face and upside-down chimp eyes?!?).

(note to self, don't mention Jake Lloyd/Hayden Christiansen or Alec Guiness/Ewan McGregor to Jargo, his head may explode.) ;)

BOOOOOM!

You're just mocking me now JT. You know perfectly well what I meant.

I seem to recall seeing a still or two of Yaddle actually in the act of speaking. I believe you could see Adi Gallia in the shot as well. This was certainly suggestive of a much longer scene in the Jedi Council chambers. Was I the only one who saw this still (or stills)? I was rather surprised that no one else had mentioned this one yet.
Does anyone know of this particular shot or set of shots? Was there more interaction with the seemingly majority of the Council?

Would this be why we had lines on the commtech chips that weren't in the movie? I can't believe Hasbro paid actors to speak those line especially for the toy line. They had to come from master tapes at LFL. So does this mean there's more to Anakin's trials than we know about? Probably from just before the telekinesis test with the "A cup, a speeder..." lines. I wanted Yaddle to speak. I must be the only one that likes Yaddle and I'm not ashamed to admit I like the look of Yaddle. There, I've said it now. :)
