View Full Version : Super Battle Droid - Loose - POOR ARTICULATION!

I'm not sure I will, it's pretty bland, and looks to lack some needed articulation, and the arm guns don't look like they raise up from the arm like they did in the film, it's just like the 3 3/4 inch one.

I believe the Ep1 BD has more articulation.

I will buy an army of Super Battle Droids.

The 12" has the right color, the 3 3/4" has a wrong color.

I agree, chances are I'll end up getting at least 1 to go with my
other 12" figs (especially Jedi). It all comes down to how cool it
really looks when you 1st see it in the stores & in your hands.

I'll buy it unless if it doesn't have good articulation. :)

I will definately get one of these! I'm afraid I will have to pass on that ULTRA HIDEOUS Zam Wesell. :)

You bet I'll buy 1 at least. Maybe more if they aren't too lousy.

Yeah I was planning to get one anyway! :)

I'll be picking up one when the hit the shelves. Not the most interesting character/droid/creature from AOTC in my opinion but it'll be a nice addition to the collection.

I will definitely get one! I enjoy hasbro making new figures for the 12" line.

I'll get at least 1, and maybe a second to take apart for display (if I can find one at a discount).

Yes, absolutely, if I can find one.

IG65,

For those who don't get any or are only going to get one, GREAT! This will leave more for me. I really like the redesigned BD. The color is cool and as long as there is at least as much articulation as the 3 3/4 scale I'll be happy.

I may buy one. I'll have to see it for myself. I'll definatly get Dooku, but Zam Wessell will have to go. Hasbro dropped the ball on that one.

All I wanted was for the droid's arm to be able to turn at the wrist so its built in lasers could be aimed the way the droid did it in the movie.

With no accessories, they could have done that.

Or even made the guns on the arm retract and spring out, like they do when Dooku makes them halt their fire.

But Nyyyooooo! Hasbro made a solid sculpt (the good), with generally tight joints (ankle articulation would have been bad for this top-heavy droid anyway, IMO) but the lack of wrist articulation for a non-accessoried figure makes this one hit my "bad list." - not whole-heartedly (I bought 2 of them) but it could have been more than it is!

I bought this one just because I am a completist. This is the yang to the Count Dooku yin. I have myself believing that for every good figure they do, Hasbro cheeses on 5 to recoup the money. It is amazing to me that a rollercoaster can have more downs than ups.

Being a completist I bought this figure also, but I didn't expect much from the SBD in the first place. Who knows, with my low expectations for this figure I may actually be surprised when I finally receive it.

I had a bad feeling about this 12" figure, so I didn't buy it.

Finally got this today, and I was surprised. This thing is built like a friggin tank compared to the EP1 battledroid. My only gripe is that the lower arm should be able to rotate, to fire it's weapon, like in the movie. Other than that a very cool lookin figure.

I totally agree, this is a no brainer. Did Hasbro reps even see the movie before this figure went into production? Out of the 3 new fig.'s it's the worst but it's better than anything in the last batch (excluding Jango of course) and looks much better than the EP1 Battle Droid.

I do like this figure, but come on. The Ep 1 Battle Droid was so amaingly articulated, and this one has next to nothing. I do agree the ankles should not be jointed, to maintain stability, but the arms are screaming for some joints!.

I altered mine so he can fire and retract his gun...
I just cut off the forearm at the joint, and reattached it with a pin so it can swivel.

Nice Job!

2 things are amazing me:

1) the speed in which brand new 12" figures get customized amongst us here (heck, the Super BD hasn't been out a month yet!)

and

2) how every once in a while Hasbro will put out figures like Dooku and Ki-Adi Mundi that are so good there's no need for customizing.

Are the figures in categories 1 and 2 originally produced by the same company? What gives?

kraigmc, I agree with Tycho, that is nice.

I don't like pre-("battle")damaged toys. An army of Super Battle Droids all damaged at the same positions? But I'm impressed: all the damage paints are handpainted! Therefore I won't say anything bad about this work of art.

I never paid that much attention to the details before, but it looks like the SuperBattleDroid had fought the Nexu, LOL

I finally got and Love the 12in SBD, but it needs the firing arm corrected, but some of the SBD's did actually use them like that in the film, so it is correct from a "Certain Point of View." ;)

All I did was cut of the forearm, leaving the round rotating joint intact. Then I reattached it with a pin, so it can rotate. It is kind of makeshift and works for display, but I should come up with something more durable and safe.
Hasbro should have at least made these joints. The regular 12" battle droid is very well articulated, so what happened here?
