I don't believe Elmo is as cool as Grover.

I don't believe you're right about Elmo. I do believe that i would like to know the nature of the rules concerned with banning a member from the site and then them returning under a new user name having only just been banned this past month. I don't believe I feel that it would be right or just for that to happen right now just as the forums are getting back to an even keel.

I don't believe there is anymuppet on Sesame Street cooler than Cookie Monster.

JediTricks
09-18-2002, 10:27 PM
Grover, Oscar, and Mr Snuffleupagus used to be the big time when I was a kid watching Seasame Street. Elmo didn't exist and all the A-list and B-list muppets had personalities that were timeless. I don't believe Elmo can say the same, but he's good for marketing and that's what's important now that Henson's dead and Disney owns his company, I guess. :(

I still don't believe I understand what Jargo's talking about, but clicking the "report post" link or even PMing me if you don't wanna go that far couldn't hurt.

I don't believe there is really anything wrong with that, as long as the charecter is used in a respectible way to teach kids that having HIV doesn't make you a monster.

Besides, it's not like there hasn't been HIV charecters in kids cartoons in the past, that were used to teach a lesson. I was flipping around last night when I couldn't sleep and ran across an Episode of "Captain Planet" that dealt with Aids/HIV.

My wife explained to me that Elmo is supposed to be a 3 year old, that is why he is the way he is.

Also, since my 1 year old has taken an interest in Sesame Street, I realized there are 4 different versions of Sesame Street on TV..."Play with me Sesame," "Sesame Street," "Sesame 2" and "1-2-3 Sesame"

I don't believe the one day i forgot to take my migraine tablets I got a damn migraine that knocked me out all day so i couldn't respond to the fun in here :(
I don't believe that Elmo is bad, Elmo is the hippest Muppet on sesame street and much better as an addition than some of the other 'PC' offerings that seem to pander to racial stereotyping. The fact that they used monsters to signify there was no difference or inequality on sesame street to begin with has been ebbed away to give rise to the sad smothering of minority group appeasement.
I don't believe that in a country such as Africa having an HIV+ muppet is a bad thing since it's relevent to the cultural climate with so many kids being in that situation or having parents who are. I don't believe religious pressure groups have a leg to stand on in their wicked witch of the west pouting or posturing nonsense.

I don't believe you're this desperate. :D Actually just thinking about hockey makes me feel cold, I certainly don't find anything remotely fantastical about being cold. I don't believe that there are so many cold weather sports where people basically wear next to nothing and prance around. Take ski jumping for instance, look at that thin layer they wear and wonder to yourself about the tewmperature it has to be in order for their to be compact snow to jump on, then think about how cold it would be with ordinary clothes on, then think about wearing a thin layer of spandex and travelling through icey air at 80 miles an hour... that's gotta hurt.
Then there's football (soccer) which starts it's season late summer as the temperature starts to drop and continues through the winter until early summer before the temperature gets too high. They run round in flimsy shirts and flimsy shorts in the dead of winter in snow hail sleet and rain with bitter icey winds and ground as hard as rock, and this is sport? No wonder so many footballers are suffering injury. They're so damn cold they can't be functioning properly. Bizarre.

I can't believe I actually care enough to have typed this.

That's the whole point, they don't have to. Just have to be superfat/fit and have the bouyancy to float like a cork. That's what make's the sport so much fun, they have to work so hard to get the opponent underwater in the first place and then to wrestle them is the second stage of combat. But the bouyancy makes the task so much harder it'll re-invent the whole concept and be hilarious to watch :D

I don't believe JT has seen the nrew sport of falling down face onto a small cushion at speed. The athlete stands at body distance from the small round cushion and then on the gun he must slam his face into the cushion by falling down. The fastewst athlete to smash wins the heat. There is also a real sport of underwater shot put. You think I'm lying it's on TV here on sunday night. There's also the high board long jump into a pool. There's also the long distance grease slide. Sports are getting cool again because the silly ones are taking over. These traditional sports are long winded and boring, time for new ones to bring back the fun.

I also invented earwax hurling but we won't go there just yet.... :)

I don't believe the UK has sunk to such levels of so-called "sports entertainment", but if Jargo says it, I'll consider that it's possible and consider that it's time to clean out the cobwebs on that little island.

You don't think sports has become a little stale and stuffy and predictable with performances being so high there's nowhere to go anymore for aspiring athletes because the pinacle has been reached and everything else is pale imitation?

New more bizarree sports are the future, they're fun and exciting again. The sense of adventure in reaching new records of stamina and endurance are thrilling. The athletes aren't the same old limelight hogging faces. The sports themselves are creative and almost surreal in their sublime stupidity. As an extension of the highboard long jump event I mentioned earlier, I invented roller diving. A competitor roller blades from the high board and performs normal dive manouvres but at increased the velocity. Awesome! The pool would need to be deeper but that's not too much of a stretch and it would up the stakes on the sport in general because roller diving would require higher levels of concentration and skill and control. A higher class os athlete. Anyone can jump off a board but to rollerblade off one? would you be brave enough? Hehehehe... :D

I don't believe "hurling" would be the correct term for an earwax game.

I prefer the pick n' flick method.

You don't quite grasp the concept dear boy. We aren't talking common or garden amounts of earwax here but large baseball sized lumps collected from the ears of small chinese children and lovingly handcrafted into aerodynamic lumps of projectile mass by Latvian widows. The art of hurling is a mixture of the shotput, discus, javelin and hammer throw techniques and disciplines. It requires great strength and fortitude to hurl earwax down the quarter mile track. The slightest breeze can throw the wax off target and ruin an athletes chances og success in a heat. The event is usually held on a cool day so the schedule is pretty eratic to say the least given that sunshine is an earwax hurler's enemy.....

I don't believe I fully understood the size of the earwax lumps that were to be hurled. I don't believe my "pick n' flick" method would work.

I don't believe sports are that important to me to begin with.

I don't believe "new" sports (mainly just new twists on current standards) really offer much beyond a quicky gimmick, like Slamball or Arena Football. I'd like to see some of those be developed further, but they never are and then you're just stuck with another XFL or American Gladiators.

I don't believe I've heard mention of "underwater sump wrestling" before your post DA! :D
