It just says Star Wars Clan Droid
Star Wars Clan Droid: The Clone Wars. More details coming soon. ???

Is this the spider driod deluxe or a Hailfire driod?

Then below that.....Geonosian fighter? http://www.entertainmentearth.com/prodinfo.asp?number=HS84976

both due in March 2003.....Whooo hoo

Any thoughts?

The Clan Droid is most likely the HailFire Droid, because they belong to the Intergalactic Banking Clan. Plus it was on early retailer lists. :)

I haven't heard any rumors about a Geonosian Fighter at all, but it appears to be coming. Unless it gets cancelled. Cool, 2003 is looking even better next year. :)

A Hailfire Driod? Awesome! I'm totally psyched now. This rules.

$25.99 for the Hailfire Droid, it better have a ton of firing missles and maybe even be motorized so that it rolls. That would be pretty damn cool, actually. Plus we have the Dwarf Spider Droid coming in the Deluxe line next year. Now we need the Homing Spider Droid and the AT-TE. :)

$18.99 for the Geonosian Fighter isn't bad, but hopefully it will come with an opening cockpit and pilot. Though I think I recall reading that the pilots are hardwired into the ships. Hell, skip the pilot and toss in some electronics. I wish they would have been featured more in the movie. :D

Wow, I was really hoping that we would be getting these ships sometime in the first quarter of 2003. :) This is really exciting, I only wish Hasbro would have put images of these up and confirmed them. Those prices aint half bad either. I sure hope the Hailfire droid is motorized, but even if it isn't it should be really fun.

Dosn't mean a definate. the nightclub 2-packs were on retailer lists for this year but they never turned up. Still, nice to think they might happen. Two Geonosian fighter craft alongside that Dooku speeder would be pretty fly. I guess they'd make the geonosian pilot a molded in figure then or make a bog basic pack in crappy one that's all squeezed up to fit.
Hailfire droid sounds good too. Not sure I'd have anywhere to shove it though. I guess i can always make room somewhere. I'll wait and see what starts being confirmed first though before getting too excited. Still waiting for news on the deluxe sets. That dwarf spider droid better be for real and not just rumour. That's a sweet droid and no mistake. :)

True Jargo, but the Nightclub sets were a retailer exclusive, and we know how fickle retailers are on exclusives. Target has passed 3 years in a row on the damn Twin-Pod Cloud Car. If we don't get it in 2003, I'm going to just give up hope instead of continuing to get disapointed. :(

Entertainment Earth was the on-line store that broke the news on the 12" Wave of Anakin, Padme and Geonosian Warrior. I believe they also broke some other stories in the past, so I am going to hope the reports are true. :)

I will probably have to get 2 Geonosian Fighters also, even though I don't do diorama's that often. I just really liked the small bit we saw of them in the film. And I want to have them flanking the upcoming Dooku's Speeder with a Gunship in pursuit. :D

Anyway Entertainment Earth charges a little bit more than retail but they have a tendency to get stuff first.....They were the first online place with the Republic Gunship in stock without running out.....They were just $20 more than kbtoys.com and walmart online.

I hope it's got good tread ends on the wheels so that it rolls ok, also hope the boxes that housed the missiles are gonna be nice and scale with it. Considering the Gunship's size, any thought on the Hailfire Droid's possible scale? IIRC it's too big to be in scale for $25, but seems like it would be about half-size, still cool. I'm hoping they put in a mix of mechanism firing missiles, missiles you pretend "launch" like on the gunship, and some missiles that you can fire by flicking the back of them through a hole. Or just the first two would be great.

The Geonosian Fighter Pilot will probably be carded, all the other Vehicle Pilots were.

Jargo

I reckon the possibility is that the pilot will be molded in and there'll be basic electronics. The ship doesn't really have anything exciting about it, just an opening cockpit and one center mounted gun. The only other thing Hasbro could do to make it fun to play with is have it 'explode' or give it crash damage like the Coruscant speeders. It was the same with the Naboo fighter which doesn't really do much that's exciting. I suppose they might add in a missile firing mechanism to the center gun which is not movie accurate but does give the Geonosians something to use for defense.
Whatever they do I'll buy two anyway, more if it's any good. I want a whole fleet of villainous vehicles and droids to trounce those puny Jedi with. My bedroom ceiling will soon be fesrtooned with an abundance of craft and then, then I will rule the woooorld! MWAHAHAHAHAhahah.....a..... *coff* sorry. :sur:

How big is the hailfire droid scale wise to a figure? around three times as high I reckon. So if Hasbro scale it down to just twice as high that's still going to be quite impresssive. I don't reckon on the big treaded wheels working though, I bank on it having small wheels hidden in the base of the armatures that connect the large treaded wheels to the body. The only way to get the wheels to turn would be with ballbearings, that would allow the wheels to rotate freely through the housing. I suppose cogs would work too but they'd have a possible jamming problem which ballbearings wouldn't. Unless they used washers on a spindle, that would feed the whell through much like a mangle...

I'm thinking aloud here, Trying to figure out how easy it would be to make this work effectively.

Okay just looked through my picture archive and discovered that the hailfire droid is three times as high as a battle droid. A battle droid is as high as the wheel housing mount. The body of the hailfire droid including the missile mounts is twice as high as a battle droid. So scaled down by one third would probably be about right at that price quoted by EE.
There are 32 missile tubes and one belly mounted laser cannon which has Y axis rotation if I've got my axii correct. :)
If the wheels are working and the missiles are ejectable it would make it well worth the price. But at that scale I reckon the missiles won't eject out of siuch a delicate and small piece. They may be just removable and slot into tubes. Or like Basker said have a couple of spring loaded manually ejecting missiles and some molded into place. I like speculating on these things. It's cool to think about the construction of the stuff we buy and wonder how Hasbro sat down and worked it all out.

And just to add something, the dwarf spider droid, should it ever get confirmed as a deluxe set, is as tall as a battle droid and as wide as two deployed droidekas. It's legs should spread further out as wide as three in walk mode, but when standing it's as wide as two.

The large homing spider droid is as tall as five battle droids. For hasbro to make that one I would reckon on reducing by half. It'd technically be a large accessory considering it's just a giun on long legs. Can't see Hasbro making something so huge as a simple accessory. Just grist for the mill..... :)

The Hail Fire droid really isn't anything but two big wheels and a small body with big rocket launchers. I think Hasbro might be able to make it the correct scale and still sell it for around $25. It seems that Hasbro's toys are a lot more decently priced now, which is good for all of us. I got totally tired of paying 7 to 8 bucks per figure on all the Potj figures.

okay... I think the Hailfire Droid was cool in the film but will make for a dopey toy...

The Geonosian Fighter would be okay... I'm only really looking forward to the speeders.

If it is a Hailfire Droid, I can't wait! I hope it is...It would look awesome in dioramas. I really like them, as you can tell from my avatar. I hope it's a Hailfire Droid, not a Geonosian Fighter. Don't get me wrong, I like Geonosian Fighters, but Hailfire Droids were a much bigger part of the battle. I didn't even see any Geonosian Fighters. Maybe the Hailfire Droid could come with a good Battle Droid as a pack-in....

DARTHSIDIOUS: the speculation going on here is that they are making BOTH!

This is rumor now based on an online retailer's supposed pre-order catalog. They're always doing this sort of thing to generate visitors and pre-orders. Sometimes it pans out, sometimes it doesn't.

In this case, if we get what we all hope for, we'll have a Geonosian Fighter AND a Hailfire Droid.

I know I'd buy 3 Geonosian Fighters and probably 1-2 Hailfire droids, depending upon how many I could fit in my diorama.

1 large spider droid will do. 2 smaller ones. That should round out my Separatist Forces nicely. I'm adding Trade Federation Droid Fighters.

Maybe they'll make the Techno Union's transport ships with some weapons. I'm afraid the Republic is going to have the forces to cream them faster in my diorama than they did in the movie itself!

I've got 2 Gunships in this scene, hopefully an AT-TE is on the way, and I'm putting in Adi Gallia in a Jedi Starfighter.

Hot damn, I even beat Jar Jar to this one (heh-heh-heh)! According to POTF2.com, in March of 2003 we are going to be getting the Hailfire Droid (aka Clan Droid) for $25.99 and the Genosian Fighter for $18.99! Not sure if the pic they have posted of the Fighter is the toy or from the archive photo, no pics of the Hailfighter Droid toy yet, but I can't wait for these. Now all I need is a J'Quille...

I kinda figured you'd have beat me to that info JarJar :) These are gonna be great though if they're not just another rumor. I have no idea where I'm going to find the space for the Geonosis diorama though...

PS--were the Geonosis fighters actually in the movie? I can't remember seeing them

Val Da Car
09-27-2002, 11:16 AM
Yep the Geonosis fighters escorted Count Dooku when he was on his speeder and destroyed the Gunship & troopers that Anikan and Kenobi rode in to chase him to his hidden location for his solarwind craft.

The spider droid is also cool, it's not very big as you can see in the movie ( is just a little bigger than the SBdroids) so it will be a nice one for the Geonosis plateau battle

A clan droid dresses up in white sheets, drinks pabst blue ribbon, wears confederate flag shirts, shots guns, and has intercourse with it's sister.

Tycho, the HailFire Droids belong to the InterGalactic Banking Clan, not to the Techno Union. That's why it's listed as "Clan Droid" :p :D
