Lists. The final thread topic. These are the statements made in sentence fragments. We've had some "what're your favorite movies?" threads, but how about by genre?

What are your favorite science fiction films, aside from SW?

My list:
The Black Hole
Blade Runner
2010 (not 2001!)
Aliens (not Alien, Alien 3, or the last one)
Star Trek 4

Others?

1. Aliens
2. Bladerunner
3. Star Trek 2: Wrath of Kahn
4. 2010 (I thought I was the only person who liked this movie)
5. The Fifth Element (just fun to watch)
6. Starship Troopers (it's silly and stupid, but sure is fun to watch!)

Had to edit in War of the Worlds. Geez how could I forget that one!

Back to the Future series (Great Scott!)
Mars Attacks (Tim Burton at his violently goofiest)

I think all of us can agree that Star Wars is the best Sci-Fi film.

Some of my favorites are
The Matrix
Mars Attacks
E.T.
Back to the Future
ID4

In no particular order and not totally sticking to the pure "science-fiction" criteria:
Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan
Star Trek 8: First Contact
TRON
the Matrix
2001
2010
Blade Runner
Akira
Aliens
Terminator 2
The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension
the Back to the Future trilogy
The 5th Element
Stargate
The whole Star Trek movie series
Robocop

All of them? But all of the odd numbered ones suck.

I really like ST:TMP (ST1), ST5, and I fully tolerate ST3 and... somewhat tolerate ST:Insurrection (ST9). ;) As for Generations (ST7), let's just say that there's no #7 in Star Trek. :D

"The Day the Earth Stood Still", good call Evenflow! I actually realized I left that one off my list around 3am this morning.

I'm also leaning towards adding "Amazon Women on the Moon" even though it's not entirely a sci-fi film, though the title is the center of the whole movie and it's just a fantastic parody.

I didn't think This Island Earth was that bad and I forgot to add it to my list.

I'm not a huge sci-fi fan, but I feel compelled to add Demolition Man, Jurassic Park, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, Robocop, Robocop II, and The Transformers: The Movie.

Nuts, I forgot Jurrassic Park and Bladerunner. The Matrix I think of as more of an action movie, but it definatley qualifies as a sure favorite.

Robocop, another good addition! I am shocked that I forgot it, I went out and bought a copy not 2 months ago.

Damn straight, JT! That is about the funniest movie ever made next to "Hollywood Shuffle." Plus, it has Carrie Fisher as a naughty girl in a funny 50's hygiene movie parody!

Gotta give a shout out to Matrix, Alien and Aliens, Blade Runner, Robocop, Stargate, BTTF (the first one only), ST2, Dune (love that David Lynch), Close Encounters, ET, and Enimy Mine. Another one I kind of like is The Last Starfighter. Who can't resist a movie with both Robert Preston from The Music Man and Commandant Lassard dressed as an alien?

Poor "Mary Brown", she's unclean. ;) If you enjoyed "Amazon Women on the Moon" as a comedy, then check out "Kentucky Fried Movie" which is the predecessor of "AWotM".

"The Last Starfighter", I think this movie deserves honorable mention even though I'm not putting it on my list. It was ambitious and really seemed to care about the sci-fi AND the characters, and was almost a rallying cry for us of the Atari generation. :D

I'd forgotten The Last Starfighter. While I wouldn't put it among my favorites, I have to post this ESB/TLS cross-over:

Hobbie: "Two fighters against a Star Destroyer? It'll be a slaughter."
Derlin: "That's the spirit!"

El Chuxter, you've given me a great (in my mind, at least) idea for a new thread!

Last Starfighter/ESB crossover scene:
"It's like a cave, that moves, but it doesn't."
"This is no cave."
:)
