VT - A-OK on all aspects of your post.
I also bought 4 more Strike Force PlaymAFes from Federation Supply Base (all except the Maquis fighter), which should arrive the middle of next week, so I can use the cardie you're sending as one of my openers. I've read the negative comments about these ships in other recent posts, but having the boxed ones all this time, I'm just really curious to open them and really check them out. I'm hoping they display nicely along side the AFs, and from what I've seen of them boxed, I think they will. I forget who on this forum referred me to Fed. Supply Base, but THANKS!

BC3, I'm envious of you getting your digicam back in service. I'm still digicamless, and have to take regular pics, then scan them. It sux! :(

Hi vt,
I am sorry I did not answer to your postings before, but it is more than a month I cannot check the MM forum (even if my interest for MM and SW is not vanished at all, on the contrary! :) ). I came back here at the beginning of this week and spent a lot of time to read all the postings I missed. I discovered a lot of things has changed! New people, Glitch! (welcome, I have a question for you but I will post it in your "Introduction ..." thread), jkf has surfaced, ... what news! :)

About your always wonderful job as a Bounty Hunter I have to thank you in advance for your help :) , I read you were able to get the firing MTT and the rotating turret AAT from artoo, but in the meanwhile I bought them from a very nice seller on eBay (I followed your suggestion to ask her to sell me just the vehicles and figures in the MTT/Naboo Battlefield Action Set and she agreed for a very good price ;) ). Nevertheless I still need your help: I am still missing an AF Cloud Car pilot and the Han Solo seated from C3PO/Cantina transforming action set, moreover, checking my MM figures collection, I discovered I am also missing Duros from the same C3PO/Cantina set, the Ugnaught from Darth Vader/Bespin and Han Solo in snowsuit from Luke/Hoth; that is I am missing 5 figures! :(
I would be very grateful if you can help me to find these, but unfortunately I still have available for you and b'jr only the MM Gian Speeder and Jabba's Sail Barge and a couple of AF Battle Droids (one captain and one soldier) for artoo (if he needs also AF figures and not just MM figures). Anyway, if you can send me a message with your mailing address I can ship you these few items asap.

Ciao,
JediGoofy

P.S. I know you are not an MM figure person, so I am including a jpeg image which "should" help you understand the figures I am missing (I am writing "should" because in the picture, taken from the old Galoob site, the figures are really really tiny, sorry).

P.P.S. The MM Gian Speeder I am shipping to you is from my Naboo Temple Ruins action set, but it is actually the same of the E1 Collection X (and not the variant gsj pointed out). Maybe this is due to the fact my action set is the international version (multilingual). I hope b'jr can get the variant from another source. :)

you latter 3: lmk if your pkgs don't show within the next week :)
gsj: finally did sst bugtrade; as promised, reporting what i was able to get for 8 of them- 9 ships: 1 of each sst ship, 2 reb transports, 1 rbr, 1 narn fighter, 1 b5 raider and An Earth Force One (which bring b'jr's total of these to Three) :)
jg: reserving needed han & cc pilot for you; i May be able to get you duros but the other two are less likely; i'll keep you informed :) meanwhile, how much were you able to get them battlefield ships for? :)
dc: i've STILL had NO substantive response from you re our trade, so until i do i'm gonna assume you're no longer interested in trading for this xtra hallmark controlship "mm" and i'll shortly offer it to anyone here who Does want to trade. howEver, dc might be interested to know i can now also offer (in the event of an enlarged trade) a dc sebulbapod, t-16 from commtech luke, turning-turret aat and firing mtt (the latter 2 thanx to jg's recent score), all mint o-o-p :) either way, this is the last reminder i'm gonna post.
also: b'jr (via me) can also offer any/all of the mint o-o-p contents from ep1 mmpak12 (rattspod, queenship, & ratts & queen figs) to anyone who can offer an attractive trade :)
for-now-hypothetical quextion: anyone here need af-sized sst warrior bugs? if so, state min. acceptable condition & max acceptable price :)

VT - I only have one SST AF warrior bug. It's boxed. Since I'm going for one boxed and one opener of all AFs, I'd be interested in the bug, unless anyone else here is still trying for their first and only one, in which case, I'll stand down. I'd be willing to pay up to $13 for an excellent box, or if it's a poor box (which I'll open), I'd go up to $8.00.

Hi vt,
Han and CC pilot will be fine :) (if you will be able to find the other figures let me know, I can wait :D ).

About the MTT/Naboo Battlefield vehicles and figures I got them for $6.99 (+ $3.55 for the shippping from Canada). Not bad in my opinion (unfortunately my collection has always been very very expensive :( ).

By the way, vt send me your mailing address and I will ship you the vehicles and figures I have here.

P.S. Off topic: Hi SID! Please have a look at my profile and you will see I am a U.F.O. fan too :D (so my collection proudly includes also the Dinky's Interceptor, SHADO 2, Space Eagle, and Thunderbird 2. All of them escaped for all these years any attempt on their life by my parents! )

re: JediGoofy's "my collection proudly includes also the Dinky's Interceptor, SHADO 2, Space Eagle, and Thunderbird 2. All of them escaped for all these years any attempt on their life by my parents!"

My interceptor, and a ton of other VERY collectible items disappeared while I was away frm my father's house one year. I never saw it again, but did find the big missile from the front of the ship in a cousin's room several months later, and he had visited my house while I was away. At the time I wasn't interested in collecting, and just wrote it off as a lesson learned. To this day I've never associated with him or his siblings. But in recent years, as I've become more involved in serious collecting, I've regretted not trying to recover my Corgi / Dinky car collection. I had some absolutely beautiful cars. :(

in that case we better think of some things to send you (in Addition to the control ship) to make this a fair trade; need any of the additional items above? if not, lmk what Might fill yer bill :)
meanwhile, the #13 paks likely aren't needed on this end, unless maybe ar2, dee2, haggie or some other colorado collector here might want- anyone?

-anytime you wish, but wouldn't i feel bad about you drivin allaway up here when i haven't been able to score you no goodies since the Last time we met up? after all, i like to make the trip worth yer while :) either way: now that it's gettin warmer & there's all these cool new ep2 toyz to ogle, b'jr & i were thinkin maybe sometime in the next coupla months we'd drive down & view your impeccable supercollection in person? say, some afternoon between ~3:30 & 6:30, so as to evade rush hour? ;) he occasionally has a tech errand to run down in cosprings, so maybe we'd drop by on way back? lmk & i'll begin coordination attempts :)

sightings: silver-logo afs (nmip i think, but since i don't care much about that kinda thing i can't say i checked thoroughly), lmk if interested in any: $15 xwing, $20 tyderium, awing & atat, and $25 snowspeeder. also a $40 nmip virago :p
scores for myself: voy Flashback novelization $.50, voy Endgame novelization $3 and Tales From Jabba Palace for free (unsellable cuz i discovered someone had carved a hidden compartment into its first 100 pages, rendering them unreadable; however, i wanted it mainly for the fett story anyway, which is towards the end and therefore intact :) )
b'jr sez he saw ep2 crosssection book for 1/2price at costco or some such, so since i won't be able to count on no more $5 fanclub sales i'll prolly try to score that :)
btw in case anyone here's interested, i've posted a new fig accessory trade offer in da classifrieds (http://sirstevesguide.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=8625) :)

even though i beat the june rate hike, i was surprised by the high postage costs this time round:
swaffy: $71.79 purch price + $7.20 shipping (no way could a pkg of this size & density pass for media mail :o ) brings yer total to $78.99; eta a few days, just 2b sure plz wait til it arrives b4 palpayin :)
jdah: $39.55 ground shipping (box is about same size as last time but definitely heavier); also wait on paying cuz Total cost will be determined after you ship to baal cuz, along with your shipment to me & b'jr, that will be deducted from your cost for this & prev parcel :) eta ~six weeks- which means you have That long to gain handy access to a cassette player, that you may immediately review timmer's packed-in mixtape before promptly forwarding to him
bc3: pkg enclosed within jdah's, so should receive a few days after that; no shipping cost since we traded :)
my only current remaining obligations are shipments to dc and jg, both cuz i await add'l info :) jt & gsj: have yers arrived yet? good, time for me to take a break & have a few laughs (http://www.sirstevesguide.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=2656) :crazed:

dee2: "noone can beat B'jr's massive fleet"
-quoth quiggonn: "if only that were true" ;) maybe b'jr outclasses you re Opened mms, but from what i've seen on your website You certainly outclass Us re opened & sealed sw items of All kinds :) and baal certainly beats all of us re sw & trek mms- which is why b'jr is only his junior ;)

Right now I am about to move, so my entire SW collection is a complete mess. :( But when I will be in my new home I have all the room to create finally a very good display for my beloved MM and AF vehicles! At that point I will be able to carefully check any doubles I have. ;)

ITEMS RECEIVED! - Thanks VT!! Silver logo X-wing, Shuttle, Sandcrawler & AT-AT, an elusive SST warrior bug battle pack in the best condition card I've yet seen, plus a strike force Cardassian Warship. Add-ins included beautiful artwork ST TNG collector's cards & film mag articles on What Dreams May Come & Space Jam. Whadda guy!!

The cardie ship doesn't display too badly, but I opened one of my strike force Enterprises, and it is horrid! No pride or quality in the workmanship, at all! They didn't even finish the bottom of the fuselage, and they gave four holes to mount the ship on its stand, and ALL of them are off-center!!!! ACK!!!! I "hid" this one on the lowest shelf, surrounded by software boxes!

Anyhow, more props to VT!

timely as always with the moneys, swaffy's ccard pmnt confirmation just arrived, but w/following note:
Important Note: Personal Accounts may not receive payments funded with a credit card. You must upgrade to a Premier or Business account before this payment will be credited to your account. And the fees on incoming payments are 2.9% + $0.30 to receive payments.
If you do not want to upgrade your account, please deny this payment. You will retain your Personal account and will not be assessed any fees. To continue to receive payments for free, make sure that the people who pay you fund their payments with their PayPal balance or with a bank account.

live & lurn eh? :p oh well, lmk what you wanna do swaffy, no hurry. meanwhile, anyone else who owes me $$ be advised that if you paypal via ccard you'll have to add that xtra 2.9% + $0.30 they wants, cuz I ain't gonna cover that poop :greedy: otherwise, do it viz your paypal acct, your bank acct, or mail a check or money order, or hand-delivered cash via nubian slave :p
swaffy: "Those silver logo SWAFs are in very nice shape!"
-goody :) to keep weight down i always like to push my (our) luck by packing w/the absolute minimum amount of neccessary space & crush-clearance. glad it didn't bite us in the *** ;)

"SST warrior bug battle pack in the best condition card I've yet seen"
-really? it looked pretty jacked-up to me; glad it's acceptable :)

"The Enterprise card's artwork sorta reminds me of the

-yeah, i've retained a personally-edited copy of that ep, since about 1/3 of it is dopey but the rest is supercool :D
(i sent SJ article cuz you asked if a maw mix i put on your tape was in Space Jam :p )

"hoping to get an opener Dagobah X-wing off eBay"
-lmk max price & i'll keep in mind in case i sight locally (would check w/you before buying of course). still waiting to follow up on af warrior bug possibility, i'll lyk :)
dee2: stilltryina arrange a rendez down there; meanwhile, would you happen to need a 2' x 4' frito-lay display that has biker anakin on one side and annie & vader on the other? if so i'll bring it when we head down, it's big but in great shape :) otherwise i'll try to do an in-person trade of it w/some colorado collector for some little bits o' junk i seek (http://www.sirstevesguide.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=8625) (after all, no Way would i spend the postage to trade this thing to an out-of-town collector ;) )
jg: surface is a-ok, no hurry on this end :) speakin of, i still gotta consult w/b'jr to see if he has those other figs you seek :)
dc: still waitin to hear if you need any more of the things i listed above :)
meanwhile, hasn't jt's or gsj's stuff arrived Yet??

VT, I did indeed get your package yesterday... sadly, it's sitting next to the Jorg Sacul I received in the mail in the back of someone's car since like an idiot, I left 'em both there. Thanks for sending, sorry I dropped the proverbial ball in finishing its mighty journey. I'll make sure to let you know what I think of its contents when I finally get it back tomorrow.

VT, opened the package today, the Lego 2x1 plates and your note were so inconspicuous that I almost missed both of them. I thumbed through what you sent, it was really cool to see an Insider before the Hasbro figures came out, back when Micro Machines were the big deal. I had a major nostalgia flash when I saw that ST4 promo thing, that absolutely floored me 'cause I had one when I was muuuuch younger, I got it at a convention where Shatner was the main speaker, this was before the film's release.

The Imp and Reb tech books were very cool, I definitely have never looked through those before. I also enjoyed the heck out of the ESB sketchbook, now I might have to track down the ANH and ROTJ ones. :D

JT, I know what those Insiders are like, I've got 6 from a '94/'95 subscription and the last one I got was the first one with the '95 toys. I liked the way they displayed the micro-machines in the pictures, took forever for them to send my Sarlacc and Dagobah sets when I ordered from one of the insiders. :D

after all, b'jr & i still kinda owe you, & besides trading away display was only a fallback plan for gettin rid of it in case you didn't happen to need it :) meanwhile, if i can't make that accessory trade maybe i'll just go execute my karmic mandate & quietly Take what i seek from no-good walmart's (http://www.sirstevesguide.com/forums/showthread.php?postid=83269#post83269) stash  heck, it's how i got my af sithbike & centauri destroyer: someone had opened the pkgs (& /or the bubbles had come unglued from the cards), and someone else had already taken other items from the pkgs, so since the pkgs were already incomplete, i helped meself to abovementioned items :D

jt: yeah, even though some're all cannibalized to hell there's still plenty of interest eh? :) to save weight & redundancy, i figured you wouldn't want most of the middle insider/communicator merch catalogs so removed them, but i left That one since it did highlight mms so prominently :)
ironic that the only Recent mms were dooku's ds hologram (enclosed w/r2q5) and jorg sacul-enclosed xwing (wouldn't mind havin his helmet, it looks like a ywing pilot's  )
payplah quextion: if i upgrade to business or premier in order to accept swaffy's payment, are there any fees (annual or whatnot) besides the cut they take from cc payments?

gsj: d.i.d. reminds me of french new wave, it plays good w/racecar cue from francis lai's A Man & A Woman score ;) glad you like glasscard, i was gonna send a printup of my amazon Paris review but couldn't find it in time; i have since so i'll wrap it protectively around your upcoming mini-t16 (since dc's indicated he doesn't need it) :)
i'm surprised that comin from 3 generations of designers the logo hadn't already occured all obvious-like to One of yous ;) spekin of which, another relevance is its "3 nested generations" implication (gramps, father, son)
i think bc3 was gonna send you an xtra gian speeder for b'jr, maybe that's what you're forgetting? offhand i ain't sure either :stupid: but no hurry so feel free takin time to remember.

eh up bc3: your box o delights (http://freespace.virgin.net/james.hobson/sanct.htm) is the inner sanctum pic that most resembles my collection :o my mms don't stand on ceremony around here either- they're always on hot standby, ready for cafe-table deployment

I believe the only other charge would be if you got a PayPal debit card, in which case you'd have an annual fee. If you do a crapload of business there is probably some fee as well. I was forced to upgrade my account a few months ago for the same reason as you and am only getting charged the percentage + PayPal b/s charge for the credit card transactions.

JediTricks
06-04-2002, 09:36 PM
If you upgrade to the minimum level to accept the payment, it's just the fee on the incoming paypal, no other fees as it stands. However, Haggie's point about the CC/Debit Card is of course in effect.

BTW, I really dig the merch cats, so next time, if you don't wanna keep 'em, I dig having those.

The X-wing still has the '93 GTI copyright markings on the insides of the wings, but is made of a rubbery material. The helmet is identical in design to the Porkins/Wedge/Luke X-wing helmet, except it's molded in opaque white plastic and has different markings.

VT's megapackage pour moi est arrivť ce matin! :):):)

Imagine my suprise when I was greeted at 7.30am with the ugly (and possibly hirsute) mug of Frida Kalho glaring at me :D It coulda been worse, you could've decorated it with some of her artwork - of her giving birth to herself.... ;) A maelstrom of stamps and colour papered the box which was big, and reassuringly heavy.

God, today dragged at work, clock watching for 5.30 so I could come home and delve into my goodies :)

VT had sent me strict instructions to listen to Timmers mixtape whilst I browsed the contents but as I am still sans tape player, I had to make do with reading the inlay and impressive faux reviews ;)

I took R2-Q5 and R2 holo-leia to work to be displayed on my desk and ogled at. I am so used to seeing the banner-pic of Holo Leia with the 'beam' coming from R2s HP, I thought the figure came with that. When I saw it was on a POTF card I was further confused....Hasbro...Wtf?

I also took the fantastic cinefantastique issue from 1978 to work and have spent most of the day surreptitiously reading it, obscuring it from any prying eyes with work papers :D. I haven't been able to put it down and there are some good reference pics for the CE3K UFOs - this is one of the most cherished things in that package! In fact pages 47-51 (centre pages) are missing and I am so impressed with the issue, I wondered if there was any likelihood of being able to pick up another copy somewhere in the world....?

With all those POTJ figures I was shocked - I didn't realise how many I'd said yes too :stupid: :).

My favourite things are;

Voyager MM - I thought this was bust.....? I got its nippelles work fine:confused: Thanks GSJ :)
Sw cards - vintage cards which were a lot more than I anticipated. I was 5 years old again and could almost smell the gum that used to come with these (and stick to the first card). Thanks for these. I love em.
6" R5-D4 - I love the R-series of droids and have searched for this so many times. I love it so much, and have got a place for him next to my Electro-R2. It's a crying shame that Haribo candy-coated R2-A6's dome with a shiny chrome finish or he could be in the line-up too.
AMT Defiant Model kit - at last, I'll have a nice big Defiant model. I'm going to wait until we move before I start this and I may use lights to complete its coolness. I'd love an MM of it too :Pirate: ;)
Mega Droideka - How this wasn't a screaming sell-out I'll never know. I never even saw it in the UK. I love it, I just wish I could get the arms to go in far enough. Thanks R2 for picking this up 4 me, droideka's have now gone up into my coolness category
E-wing & Lars BP - out of relief more than appreciation of the actual molds. I didn't realise Lars speeder had a transparent windscreen. I may paint it black. A special bonus is tjhe Eg-6 power droid, it's charming! The E-wing is a strange thing because of it's lack of features and one of my pet-AF-peeves is when 'they' use the wings as landing gear. I know the wings on the E are too thin to retract landing gear into, but I think wing skids = naff, is all (although not as bad as the corvette or b-wing). The R7 unit looks like an R6 on the pic and a squashed R2 in the flesh. I was expecting the evil-eyed vulky/Xanthra (just kiddin  ) R7 from the Essential Guide to droids. I am very glad to have this at long last as I didn't like to miss out on the Rebel stuff.
Rebel pilots for Ten Nunb :)
Cinefantastique special on CE3K. This is going to be as valuable a prop-building resource as the SW Chronicles book is for me. It is just sublime, exquisite, delicieuse!!!

I am currently looking for two Star Wars Battle Packs #17, not really looking for mint package, I am mostly looking for two scout troopers on speeder bike.
Also, looking for one Lars Family speeder Battle Pack. Can anyone help? Please let me know.

You may not want to even bother with the Lars BP unless you really want the figs cause you'll be able to get the http://systems.figures.com/database/index.html?page=detail&sdomid=5&sitemid=29614 rehash in a few months at Target.

#17 is pretty scarce. You can nab one on eBay for about $10. One shows up about every week or two.

so, izzat all you got to say about your pkg? you like it better or worse than dec 99 pkg? :)

If it didn't have an antenna on it, then that's probably what the hole is for. R5-D4 is supposed to have a small antenna on it's head.

It's definitely supposed to have an antenna, which was bubble-sealed onto the box's inner tray. You can see pics of this here: http://systems.figures.com/database/index.html?page=detail&sdomid=5&sitemid=739

VT, thanks, re: Warrior Bug. re: T2 figs, I haven't seen them. Not really sure if I need them / what I'd do with them? Do you know if they are the same as those included with th MM T2 playset? I'm not really "trying to unload" those die-casts. I just saw 'em at Kaybee & snagged ones for me and extras in case anyone wants them. I'd really like to trade them for something that would fill-in a gap in my checklist. Like especially a loose Wedge or Jek AF x-wing. (red 6 & red 2 = # of stripes on wings). Just wanted to inform you that I went to put the new Star Wars and Star Trek ornaments in lay-away yesterday (E2 ornaments and the NX-01 are gonna be October debuts) and the Delta Flyer is very nice and could be passed off as X-Ray/Die-Cast scale. I'd say it's a little bigger than Die-Cast scale, and a little too small (smaller than the AF Cloud Car and even the Innerspace 1701-D Shuttle) to pass as AF scale. It's electronic and is $24, so if you got it then you'd have to pull out the cord that goes to the X-Mas tree lights since they didn't use batteries like they have been with other ornaments.

Hey, Sakay. You should email the winner of this auction (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1752568204) when it ends (or you could even buy the lot yourslef since you do so many customs). also bagged a new $2 Glass Cage (as in philip & john) (http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B00004X0MF.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg) cd along with 3 used $1 cds: The Insider score, an non-score album by flim composer michael nyman and a portugal house comp :)

Hey VT, I'm axin' for your bounty-hunter expertise. I recently scored an opener AF Aliens Drop Ship & APC, and have heard folks like JT praising how perfectly the micro MM APC nests and can be posed to emerge from inside the Drop Ship's ramp. I'm gettin' all hot & bothered to find a micro MM APC, but don't wanna spend $10 - $15 on an eBay auction of one or two entire Aliens MM 3-packs to get only the APC. Do you (or any other industrious foruMMers!!) know where I could score the lil' APC for trade or cash, or do you someone who'd want the other two MMs in that 3-pack if I do end up goin' to ePay-through-the-nose for it?

added a minute or two later....

Aw crud!!!! I mis-threaded this post!!! GSJ, if possible, wouldja mind movin' this post over to the "VT bounty hunter.. " thread? If it's a pain in the butt to do, then don't worry about it.

so, "supermodder" jt, you say you didn't care for the giger mm ship that came with your mm apc? well if it turns up (how Careless of you to misplace such a gem :p ), feel free to send it up thissa way & i'll finda good home 4it
swaffy: i'll keep eyes open, but my expertise might be limited to consulting in this case: ~3 years ago b'jr & i found him 16 af dropships for $5 apiece (he now has 15, after giving ws one). he's been seeking enough mm apcs for their belly-fillage ever since. so far we've found him 7 or 8, which means 7 or 8 to go.
alien mms in general've been more elusive than i'd anticipated, and that set (#3) seems to be more sought than the other two -probably cuz over time af collectors have, just like yourself, come to recognize & be interested in the perfect fit between mm apc & af droppy belly. i haven't kept track of closing prices for this set (or Any mms) in years so i'd advise watching several auctions for it come & go to get an idea of its typical closing. then just try to score one for less than that amount. maybe the one gsj just posted? :)
keep us informed; & btw, what i sez to jt above goes for you too :greedy:

GSJ - thanks again!!!! I've been terribly distracted the last couple weeks, and haven't done as much looking for SWag (or ALIEag ?) as I have in recent months.

which also reminds me, re: VTape parcels or anything else shipping to me - be sure to contact me beforehand. There is a chance, small but possible, I will be moving soon. During transition, I'll probably ask folks to either hold-off shipments or send to one of my folks places. I hope to know for sure in the next week or two. It may also effect my e-mail and website. But I should be able to give decent advance notice to all here.

vt Hmm, that's not good news at all. I blame Galoob for claiming the "HMS Bounty" MM was in that set when clearly it wasn't. Why not just paint the regular Excelsior white and green and claim it's the Enterprise-B? Anyway, blaming doesn't help (except my fragile ego in this case) so I guess I'll need to look into this. I doubt Baal is gonna want to stop hoarding this piece just because I want one, it's partially the hoarders who cause these aftermarket explosions so he's got no motivation not to stop, right?

Oh well, thanks anyway VT. I can't trade away the Sisko's Sailer for it obviously, I'm too low on cash to try to outbid the next nutjob who wants this, and you got most of my trade-bait, so I'm pretty screwed.

Thanks for the tips, VT. Alas, I tried all three and none of them carry them. There has to be some place in town that has piles of imported ZOIDS sitting on the shelves. If you happen to run across them please LMK. Hasbro has started to release them now but they haven't produced nearly as many as Tomy did in Japan.

Lemme apologize to Baal, I have never done any sort of direct business (MM or otherwise) with him and merely assumed that his buying everything in sight and being "the devil" made him more of my adversary in this situation. I am very frustrated at getting this repainted BOP under the name HMS Bounty and let it out in the wrong direction at a fellow MMer. If Baal would like to accept my apology, please send one HMS Bounty MM to VT so he can send it along to me. ;)

VT, you are right, I got confused and thought there were only 2 sets that came with the recolored MM and that I got it in Collectors Set 1, but now that I'm looking at the STMM 16-back card you sent me, I see where I got confused -- set 9 (ST Generations) comes with the recolored BOP!!! Damn that is frustrating.

That doesn't make sense to me, if the 1 collector has taken 20 of them off the market, that means that 19 other collectors will still be looking for them. The more hoarding there is, the less likely these 19 others will have a chance of getting that item and might get more and more desparate until they simply went to a scalper, thus fueling the ridiculous aftermarket situation (see the AF E-wing for more on this - there are just as many E-wings as TIE Defenders and Jabba's Sail Barges, but there are less E-wings on ebay at any one time than the other 2 and the E-wing always commands more and more money on this aftermarket. Every time one is bought, it creates a frenzy situation which drives the price of the next one up, making it and all the others that more rare and expensive).

So,
I turn my back for a few seconds, and I'm being slandered. And I thought you guys were my buds.
Just jokin' JT. Actually, I'm a little uptight that most of you think I'm too greedy. How many sets do you think were produced?
I have about 50 sets of ST XI, all are mint on card or close, I've got a couple of loose ones too. I'm sure everyone knows the pounding I take on the prices, and I think I've been more than fair with anyone who has done business with me, and even tried to help out if I could. But, I'm The Devil, bub!
You think I'm anything less than horrific to just anybody? I happen to like you guys. Now, I haven't been checking in lately, so you'll have to excuse my ignorance, it's bliss. Did you get screwed on an auction? Sorry to hear it.
Once again, I love Star Wars and Star Trek Micros, I'll never stop collecting them, and if I have to outbid or out-trade or out-pay anybody to get them.....
You should be glad that Micros that join "The Colletive" are going to be here for everyone, forever, or at least until this place falls into the Sun.
Now, why don't you come by and we'll inventory a few thousand Micros? You can help me paint the display room, and set up the shelves and cabinets.
And, if you're not a pain in the ***, you can set up all the displays.
And, now that you've reminded me, let me go get some more.

Hey there Fly-lorder, actually I didn't get burned on an auction because I couldn't afford the ridiculous price (which VT tells me is unusually low, to boot). The reason I don't have one of these is I mistook the BOP in set 9 for the HMS Bounty in set 11 and nobody ever told me there was another.

Since I've got your attention, what IS with your... um, "special" style of MM collecting?

And I think this set, like everything after set 9, was way underproduced for the long haul. I don't remember seeing it on shelves ever, and now it's a complete nightmare for a collector like myself to try to get one of these.

"why don't you come by and we'll inventory a few thousand Micros? You can help me paint the display room, and set up the shelves and cabinets. And, if you're not a pain in the ***, you can set up all the displays"
-i tolja a year or two back that, so long as you provided my any-class plane ticket, room & board and enabled a few select manhattan fun & games (moma, india house, empire strikes building, rainbow room etc), i'd be perfectly willing to donate my services to thoroughly inventory, curate, set up & consult on your vast mm holdings ("if there's one trait you would ascribe to me and my fellow cardassians, would it not be. . .our attention to detail?" -garak to bashir, ds9 ;) ). i'll still honor that pledge even though, after 9-11, air travel's Such an inefficient P-I-A cattledrive i'd much prefer either a Chartered flight or an interstate chauffeur ;) but on the plus side for you, i'd no longer be able insist that you treat me to aft tea at Windows On The World

haggie: not sure but i might have a few vintage zoid components buried somewhere. don't know what they are (a dinosaur-head cockpit maybe?), but if you might be interested you can have em next time whenever we arrange a meet-up, just remind me :)

jt: "everything after set 9, was way underproduced for the long haul. I don't remember seeing it on shelves ever"
-i saw 16-backs at tru very briefly in spring '97, but never saw 14-backs at retail. as i puzzled during that time over why they'd bother to offer a Third k-bop sculpt, it occured to me thay maybe it'd finally occured to them to incorporate hinged wings. i took a chance, made a special trip to the 80th & sheridan tru and bingo , saved myself years and perhaps decades of painful empty longing :D

"Every time one is bought, it creates a frenzy situation which drives the price of the next one up"
-this would result regardless of whether or not the buyer has already bought 50 of the same item. so, no buyer can be held responsible for any "frenzies" whipped up among his fellow buyers. that blame lies solely on the Seller for arranging such adversarial free-for-alls.

"if the 1 collector has taken 20 of them off the market, that means that 19 other collectors will still be looking"
-considering the thousands of extant hmss, and the thousands of collectors seeking them, this effect is negligible in the grand scheme and not worth me gettin worked up about.
applying ethics is like anything else; one must pick one's battles. condemning people who want 50 of one item (or, for that matter, who are willing to Pay 20x its original price) would be an injudicious squandering of my ethical objections. my finite voice, ire and outrage would become diluted and lose credibility as they chased about villifying all those activities. so instead i focus them where they make the biggest impact: on the indisputably parasitic practice of people who played no role in the production, distribution or retail sale of toys makin profits off em.
if that ain't good enough: are you not yourself a 1-to-open and 1-to-not collector of numerous items? if so, why is having 50 of a htf item unethical but having two is not? why would Any number higher than One of any item not qualify as hoarding?
btw, didn't baal send you some sw 3-pack package variant gratis awhile back? :)

"I could trade most of that selection plus whatever meager extras I have left for the HMS"
-unless you been hidin a Very rare mm from me, i don't think all your xtras put Together would trade you an hms, However: i hear a lil birdy's song that tells of a vewwy special hms out there i can easily imagine that, were you to acquire it, would likely get you not only a regular hms in trade but also that kaztorp & array you've been seeking

At this point it isn't technically cancelled. They had about 30 episodes "in the can" that hadn't aired yet so production was stopped (everyone was laid off). It's pretty much in limbo. We can assume that it will be cancelled after they air all the remaining episodes but it isn't actually fact yet (thankfully). I love the show and often miss it because I forget it is on in it's crappy 6:00 slot. If they'd give it a chance, it would succeed. Now we just need some DVD sets (they have them in Europe).

What 3pack package variant would that be? I know not of what you speak, as I have almost no standard packaged sets at all and wouldn't care about an MM packaging variation. I found about 4 of these sets at a local store for $10 each, if anyone is interested. (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2134510758)

They had one opened, and I looked at all 20 prints. It's a very nice package. The box is tin or some other chrome-like metal. None of the boxes were mint, some had minor scratches or dings. The artwork should be fine inside though, as there is a nice protective insert holding the prints inside.

These were orginally $50, but are marked down to $10. If anyone wants me to pick one up, it's no problem since I am going anyway to grab at least one for x-mas gift-giving.

It has everything to do with it, that's the dictionary definition of hoarding I was referring to. You have to remember that I'm using words and terms not based on VT-definition.

i'll take your word for it that you open everything; i was going on the recollection that on past occasions you've had me bag you 2 or 3 aussie braids, as well as mulitple battledroids and death star troops. again, if "army building" or diorama staging isn't a form of hoarding, why would "mm fleet building" be?
You can check around, anybody who knows me or has even read my forum posts consistantly in the other sections knows I'm not one of those collectors. I got the multiple braids to dispense out to others, and multiple army building figures (whether they're MM or 4" or whatever) to build actual scenes in my collection which I regularly change and even occasionally play with, not just amass "the most" of something.

"What 3pack package variant would that be?"

I'll have to check my collection because I don't remember that sitch. In any event though, I don't know where you'd get the idea that I already had the regular Tyderium and Imp Speederbike MMs since I only have 1 of each in my collection and they WEREN'T there from the beginning.

Even if I had 2 of these, that doesn't fall under the definition of hoarding... except in VT land.

vulcantouch

-ah yes, VT Land, a realm in which typically nebulous terms have been sufficiently defined so as to actually be Usable
a cogent philosophy, and the arguments springing from same, depend on the precision of one's definitions. as i've always said, i'm happy to hear alternate sharpenings of the definitions i've made, cuz who knows, maybe someone else'll come up with something more useful :) but in the absence of that, i've little choice but to stick with the most effective tools at hand, namely my Own definitions :)

"that's the dictionary definition of hoarding"
-dictonary defs are like anything else: they have their place. they weren't written with the special context of collecting in mind, and as such their application therein has limits. so i go beyond them & sharpen them enough for practical use in our context :)

"to build actual scenes in my collection which I regularly change and even occasionally play with, not just amass 'the most' of something"
-first of all, it has not been established that baal, b'jr or any other "hoarder" proceeds as they do in order to amass "the most" of anything. maybe they just plain like to have a bunch :) secondly, even if that had been established why would it be a somehow less noble motive than getting multiples in order to "build actual scenes" or "occasionally play with" them?

VT-land is where terms and words that have been clearly defined by recognized English dictionaries the world over are given a new spin to fit VT's personal ethics... case in point, "practical use in our application" seems to mean "I've decided the term doesn't mean what I want it to mean at this present time, so for my needs it'll be changed to accomodate any argument that suits my whim". :D ;) I have never found the dictionary definition of "hoarding" to be inaccurate for collecting, it fits fine from every application I've encountered, not withstanding your inaccurate and wholesale disregard for the term.

Hoarding is simply having a bunch of something without reasonable use. If I buy all the lamps in my area because I'm afraid I'll break my lamp, that's hoarding because obviously I'm not using all those lamps, they're just collecting dust in my storage waiting for the moment I break 650 lamps and need to replace them. If I have a practical use for them all, such as trying to light an enitre block of apartment buildings, then they all have use. You'll probably never understand what I'm getting at because it requires a viewpoint that allows for perceived "reasonable" amounts of usage but not ridiculous ones. The difference between having 10 DS Gunners and 100 DS Gunners. Perhaps this post is too cutting a statement and will have no purpose except to give VT another philosophical point to argue with.

Baal is hoarding, plain and simple. No matter what his reasons are, it is still hoarding. He could have good intentions, but it would still be hoarding. The one good point is that it doesn't sould like he's hoarding in order to sell them later (which would make him a scalper). Anybody who intentionally buys up as many of a collectible product as possible is a hoarder. Buying up a limited number (my definition of "limited number" would be 2-4) of said items is not hoarding. Buying up every one you see is hoarding. This is not a positive thing to the collecting community because it takes said product out of other collector's hands. I obviously don't know Baal and it is not my intention to slam him. IMO, hoarding is one step below scalping on the list of crappy practices.

haggie
08-30-2002, 11:38 PM
...I also don't like it when people buy up several of each item in order to use the extras as traid-bait. This is a ridiculous practice IMO and is comparable to scalping. When a collector buys up all of an item it screws other collectors out of getting the item themselves (just like a scalper). Now the only option is to get that item from a scalper or through a trade with the collector who bought them all. I can't believe that the practice of buying up several of each item to use them in trades is acceptable to the collecting community. If people didn't buy up all of an item, I wouldn't need to make a trade with the dude who has them all.

Haggie: I disagree with your thoughts on collectors buying them up to use as trade bait. If a collector passes them by, say it's a "hot" item for example, chances are very good that someone will come along shortly and buy them out to sell them for inflated prices on ebay. I for one would rather have to trade reasonably for an item than pay ridiculously for it.

I would rather make a trade then pay a lot of money as well but it's still a fact that if people didn't buy what they did not need for their collections there would be enough to go around and you wouldn't have to buy from a scalper or make a trade. I would rather pay MSRP at the store but I can't do that if scalpers, hoarders and collectors who want traid-bait buy up everything. The person who buys up the collectibles to scalp or trade is the one who is creating the inflated demand for said product. Plus, I don't buy extra stuff for trade so how am I ever supposed to make a trade with anybody when I have nothing to trade. My philosophy is if you don't need it for your collection, leave it for somebody else. The reason you have to buy from a scalper is because the scalper bought the collectible so you couldn't. The reason you have to make a trade with a hoarder is because the hoarder bought the collectible so you couldn't. I don't see much difference in these situations.

vim - noun. - Ebullient vitality and energy. See Synonyms at vigor.

vigor - noun. - 1. Physical or mental strength, energy, or force.
2. The capacity for natural growth and survival, as of plants or animals.
3. Strong feeling; enthusiasm or intensity.
4. Legal effectiveness or validity.

------

No, I don't think the dictionary definition is rock solid in some cases, but common and widespread alternate usage is what motivates a change in definition, not simply a small individual's strength of will.

Another paraphrasing of Spock: logic dictates that the definitions of the many outweigh the definitions of the few... or the one.

To claim you are doing otherwise seems like arrogant presumption from here.

Ah, but now you are giving an added context to a defined word where none exists in its definition. Just because hoarding has received a certain level of "panic" stigma to its application by some does not mean that it is an accurate stigma to apply. Royals of old did not find panic when hoarding their lands' gold.

But semantics-time is over now for me. Let me remind you that your accusation that I was hoarding DS Trooper figures comes with a rebuttal, you offered me more of them a while ago and I turned them down because I had filled my display needs.

Haggie, I usually don't buy trade bait either, but I have found that if I am reasonably sure someone I know will want it, I might pick up an extra for that purpose (not more than one at a time though).

I should probably clarify my stance on this because I agree with your statement, JT, and I also don't mean to offend anybody who participates in friendly trading. I'm referring to people who hoard all of a collectible because they know it is, or may be, desireable to others and by taking all of them, they have cornered the market. What I mean by this is that this is not a friendly gesture on their part to buy it with a fellow collector or friend in mind. They buy it in the same fashion that a scalper would buy it, only hoarding the product allows them to score something they need (instead of a profit in cash). I'm all for trading, and buying an extra item if you know for a fact that a friend or fellow collector is looking for said item. If you have collecting friends and you know one of them would want something, you pick it up for them and either sell it to them for cost of work out a trade. The process of working out a trade in person or in a forum can make particiapting in your collecting community even more enjoyable. It's just the people who buy it all up and then say "I have all this stuff that you can't find anywhere, let's hear the offers". Maybe others have not had experience with people like this, but I have run into a few people that do this crap and it really irks me. Anybody who went to midnight madness has probably experienced this. Some jerk grabs all the Yodas and Dookus because he's going to use them as traid bait (instantly causing a shortage of supply and increased demand which fuels the balck market).

each person collects for their own reason. no one is right, no one is wrong, it's simply a matter of what each person feels they must do.

i recall an argument sometime ago in the potf section where everyone was getting on some guy who collected every storm trooper he could. everyone was yelling that cause of him, they couldn't find any. true, the guy had maybe 100 or so, but that certainly ain't the kind of manifest quantity that's gonna dry up the market. but what really brought the argument into prospective, is that the reason he was collecting so many, was so that he could display an awsome diorama with a large army of these storm troopers, and after he posted a pic of it, all the detractors began changing their toon:sur: . "oh, well since you're doing a diorama, then it's ok"

i love looking at the photo's of b'jr's sabertooth collection, i am in awe of it's beauty and it's majesty. when i see something like that, i don't think, "that son-of-a-gun, he got all those mm's and i don't, he shouldn't be allowed to do that!" , i believe that if someone wants to collect as many of something as they can get their hands on, that's ok with me.

i don't even get upset by scalpers, they ain't worth the energy it takes to give them any thought. we've set up a nice network of international bountyhunters here, who have helped combat the prices that scalpers demand for their wares.

the true issue here is patience. acting rashly and quickly, will lead to paying a scalper loads of dinero to acquire what your after. (i've been guilty of this quite a bit), by practicing restraint, eventually you, or someone else for you, will find what you're looking for, and it will become yours!

Haggie: I do agree that people shouldn't buy them all up just to trade for favorable to themselves deals. Buying them all and taking offers is pretty much the same as selling them on ebay, they bought them just to get what they can for them. Buying extras to trade evenly or selling at cost is no problem though. I myself almost never go to toy stores since nothing I wanted has shipped in a few years (up till the new AF releases which I preorded and the Target BPs which I finally got 2 days ago). When I did go to stores it was very rare that I found anything I wanted though. I did go to stores very often ( a few hours a day at least to be exact) so I ended up getting most of what I wanted, although I would be lucky to find one item at most a day. Some of what I didn't get I was able to get in decent trades or at cost from others who picked up extras just to help out those who couldn't get them. If I had no option other than paying high prices I didn't like it but wouldn't let that stop me from getting what I needed.

gsj gets at the crux Exactly. neither baal nor b'jr's Style of collecting is my own and, baal's kind words to the contrary notwithstanding, i certainly can't claim to fully Understand either of them. (though i can understand baal's confusion, as i imagine not being outright Condemned by a fellow collector is the closest usually comes to being "understood" by same ;) ) but as a subscriber to vulcan IDIC philosophy i know that i don't Need to understand or even Approve of my fellow collectors. so long as i don't Disapprove of them, i simply Tolerate and Accept them. my tolerance and acceptance is all that's needed or called for, not my approval or understanding. as a result i'm left free to revel in the camaraderie & fruitful exchange with my fellow ethical collectors.
in addition, i can't deny the unique magnificence of their results. haggie: when we eventually meet perhaps a personal viewing of b'jr's collection can be arranged, at which point you can see for yourself there is an undeniable aesthetic difference between a one-of-everything collection such as mine (and yours?) and a basement-floor fleet with 80 warbirds, 150 k-bops, 70 galors, 60 aats etc :)
not that it should make a diff, but for years now b'jr has dreamed of opening a "micro cafe" in which his 1000s of mms would adorn the walls, ceiling and tables, cuz he wants to share his collection w/the world. but before a collection is shared with the world, it first should be exceptional enough to Warrant the attention, should it not? :)
collecting is an art like any other in that, as wilde said about literature, "there is no such thing as a moral or immoral book. books are either well-written or badly-written. that is all". the moral judgments some of you try to apply to collecting tastes simply do Not apply.

jt: "common and widespread alternate usage is what motivates a change in definition, not simply a small individual's strength of will"
-ah, "one man cannot summon the future", eh? but "one man Can change the present", as i have already done, via this discussion, my debates on scalping and illustrating and backing up my beliefs with ethically-proscribed assists to fellow collectors :) "in every reVoluTion, there's One Man with a vision" (all quotes, tos' "mirror mirror" ), and i'd say a revolution's long due re these issues and the sloppy, overheated thinking that surrounds them :)

"the definitions of the many outweigh the definitions of the few"
-not when those majority-defs are so fuzzy as to say nothing at all- as in this case :) one hundred million frenchmen Can be wrong when they disagree w/vt, oui?

"Just because hoarding has received a certain level of 'panic' stigma to its application by some does not mean that it is an accurate stigma to apply"
-just cuz "panic" happens to be a feature of the example i provided doesn't mean i'm arguing that panic's an essential part of hoarding. That said, a certain fear of eventual scarcity, whether of gasoline or feudal gold, does seem to underlie most or all Real hoarding.

"your accusation that I was hoarding DS Trooper figures"
-never have i made such an accusation; what i said was, either having more than one of a collectible counts as hoarding or Nothing does. i left the choice between those two entirely up to you :)

"To claim you are doing otherwise seems like arrogant presumption"
-lotsa things seem like mere arrogance at first; doesn't bother me :) i'm content to wait for posterity's judgment re my "arrogance" :)

"semantics-time is over now for me"
-why are debates always suddenly mere semantics when You decide you've had enough? :(

haggie: "my definition of 'limited number' would be 2-4"
-and if you could explain to me exactly why That number should be the cutoff point, it might become my definition as well ;)

"it's still a fact that if people didn't buy what they did not need for their collections there would be enough to go around"
-are you implying that if it weren't for trade-baiters nothing would be htf? if so that's patently wrong, even if we were to lump trade-baiters' activities in with scalpers.
trade-baiters didn't create the situation of scarcity; they're simply adopting a measured but shrewd and effective response to it :)

"This is not a positive thing to the collecting community because it takes said product out of other collector's hands"
-you know what else takes product out of other collectors' hands? pre-existing economic inequities which prevents some people from being collectors at all. but i don't see any of us givin a damn about That, to wit:
if we're supposed to waste lamentations on the 49 other middle-class hms-wanters baal has thwarted, should we not then also feel so sorry for the thousands of trekfan kids too poor to afford mms at Any price that we give up collecting and donate all our toys to them? i don't see any of You doing that. and i'm certainly not about to do it myself  the difference is, i'm not kidding myself about the ultimate implications of my arguments. making them as precise as possible helps me do that :)
and i agree with s43 re trade-bait, a practice i've engaged in countless times (and always to the satisfaction of the other guy i might add) in order to procure items for acceptable terms not just for myself, but for many of you here :D i explain my position fully in the trade passage of my def of scalping (http://209.197.112.151/thread.html?dom=ss&TID=20&PID=1590), in case interested :)

swaffa! get on the ship!
this one's a toughie....

from reading all the posts to-date, it seems that hoarding is in the eye of the beholder, and certainly not the holder.

I can understand (and have felt the same way on occasion) the frustration of not being able to find a collectible on the store shelf or at a reasonable auction price, only to learn of someone who has dozens and continues to buy them up at auction, willingly paying well above my (admittedly subjective & self-imposed) standard of a fair price.

at the same time, it doesn't feel completely right for me to impose my value systems on someone else who buys multiples of a collectible, unless I see that person scalping them at auction or posting them for trade and expecting a scalper-equivalent in return-trade swag for their item.

so, I'm conflicted on this one, and am going to take the easy way out and blame the manufacturer for not providing a supply and distribution chain adequate to satisfy the demands of both the limited-quantity collector and the (for lack of a better term) "hoarder."

I have to close this post now - the weight of the keyboard is making it hard for me to maintain my balance stradling the fence!

That's just my range. I'm sure there's somebody out there who has the same beliefs I do but has a range of 1-20. It's just my way of saying I'm fine with people buying multiples, but I get really irate when they buy them all. It's hoarding, and hoarding is really crappy in my opinion.

There will always be HTF items because Hasbro has to produce enough to make money, but little enough to ensure they sell out. Regardless of their intentions, anybody who buys up items for traid-bait fuels the balck market. When there isn't product on the shelf, collectors buy from scalpers. It doesn't matter who bought up everything on the shelf or why. I don't have any problem with picking up an extra here or there because you know you can use it in trade. It's just the extreme cases that bug me.

Went looking for AF saga/ep2 wave 2 today. No joy.
Found two of the TIE Advance x1 on the shelves (1 at each local WallyWorld).

However, I did find/buy the following at Suncoast on super-sale:
~3" TRON figure, Sark figure, Warrior figure, Flynn figure - all were about $1.75 each. They have 3 red lightcycles in stock, too. They're about 6" long x 4" tall (very approximate) and are $12.49 each. If anyone wants one, I'd be glad to grab 'em.

Also found a set of McFarlane figures I've never heard of before, Ultima Online, apparently taken from a video game. Look, size & quality are very similar to the Spawn figs and the Resaurus line of Quake II figures. They had four of the six from the set: Adranath, Blackthorn, Cap't. Dasha & Juggernaut. $3.75 each. They had a couple left on the peg after those I bought, if anyone is interested.

i may take you up on the sailor (and if you happen to see then too), the at-te and new naboo fighter repaint as well.

as of this morning, none of the wave II stuff is available as yet in south florida.

i'm gonna git these things at retail, and not through on-line joints if at all possible.

so let me know how much i would owe ya, and maybe you can hold onto it until you see the other two (or at least wait until i'v posted if i'v acquired them otherwise)

thanx vt

GSJ & JediGoofy - I've been out of town lately on business but have checked-in at all the WallyWorlds & Targets I've passed by. No current AF wave stuff seen yet. I'm still operating under the premise that you want me to get these for you both if I see them. Let me know if that has changed.

The Sailor is not at the Targt VT mentioned any longer. I went to check it out (not interested in buying one myself) and found it. It was missing one of the top flaps of the ship (one of the major body pieces on the top). I turned it into Guest Services so somebody's day wouldn't be ruined once they found the problem after they got home.

I'm guessing the dock worker strike is what has held the new AFs up. The toy isles have been stagnent for weeks. Thankfully, the strike is over so we should see SW toys en masse soon.

I found a Solar Sailor at a Walmart today. It was all alone justl ike the one VT found at the Target. Damn. I really want an AT-TE. Anyway, I went ahead and bought it so I could take a "boxed" photo of it for starwarsactionfleet.com. I have no interest in keeping this thing. It is horrid. Possibly the worst AF ever. I can either return it for a refund once I get the photo taken or offer it up to somebody (GSJ?) if they don't mind paying a few bucks to get it shipped to them. If nobody wants it I'll probably just hold onto it for awhile just in case somebdoy can't find one over the next few months. To clarify, I'm not going to open it. I'm just going to take a picture of it in the box. GSJ, if you want it, I can hold onto it for a bit to see if somebody can score you a full set so you can save on shipping (I may even be able to get the other two for you if I ever see them). It's not a problem for me to return this thing to WalMart three months down the road.

unless vt has already picked up the one he saw:eek:

thanx for thinking of me.

as of today (i was out and about all morning running back and forth to different job sites between fort lauderdale, and miami), i was able to stop into 2 targets, and one walmart, and the shelves are still bare of any wave 2 af's.

so since your gonna return it anyway, (and if vt has yet to pick one up for me), i'll gladly take it off your hands for the price paid plus shipping costs.

you may want to hold on to it, and see if you run across either the at-te, and the naboo fighter, that way, i can pay you in one easy payment, and save on shipping.

thanx haggie.

GSJ, look at post #379 to see what came of the other Solar Sailor (that VT found at the Target).

I'll hold onto the Sailor for ahwile. If I can find a complete set for you, I'll let you know. I know SWAFFY was looking for you too. I'd say, SWAFMAN, if you find a set, go ahead and get it for GSJ and I can just return this one to WalMart. No reason to have the new AFs shipped to you from two different locations unless totally neccessary.

Newly release VT. I'm assuming it may end up being HTF since it is a new AF, not a rehash. I'm not taking any chances with the new AFs, just in case. The rehashes... I can take 'em or leave 'em.

The body of the Solar Sailor has about five pieces so you can imagine how bad of a mistake it was to be missing one of them. I noticed it within about 10 seconds of lifting up the box to take a peek.

I've only got the one set. I'm only interested in keeping the AT-TE out of the set though. I was planning on taking 'boxed' photos of the other two for my site and then returning them. If you want the Sailer and the Naboo Fighter I could send them your way. There was another AT-TE at KMart yesterday so it may still be there. I can look if you want. I'm guessing you'll be able to find a set, though. I see tons of Falcons everywhere and that AF was hard to come by when the new AFs first came out. Anyway, LMK.

Same for the sailer & nab fighter. i'm in no rush to get them in-hand, just LMK they're being held so I don't buy others for myself if I ever DO see them locally.

thanks muchly!!!

SWAFMAN, I'll go ahead and hold onto them but if you see them at retail, by all means buy them. You'll spend less money that way. I'll check KMart on monday for the other AT-TE and grab it if they have it. I can always return it if you find a set on your own. No problem.

Fans of the Die-Cast models, I highly advise you to get the NX-01 and Slave 1 Hallmark ornaments. They're made of die-cast metal!!! And they're above die-cast scale but below Action Fleet, well actually the Slave 1 I think is about the size of the Cloud Car and the NX-01 is about the length and such of the Gian Speeder but considering the details on these, they're well worth it! One thing you might want to do is since they came out in October, they should be around till after Christmas which you can get them for half-off. (NX-01'll $12 and not sure how much the Slave 1 will be)

If I get my digital camera stuff reinstalled I'll take pictures.

thanx for tips, but couldn't've xchanged dvd anywhere xcept tru cuz it had a tru sticker over the gold label outside the shrinkwrap, so if you removed tru sticker it would damage the gold label. (other stores also placed store-specific stickers over gold label, perhaps to discourage such "interstore-swapping"?). anyhoo i scored the wide dvd for tru price and can now return fullscr at my leasure ;) and once again huntgut steered me right: 2day scored clone pilot at westland lame-art for the $3 unadvertised targ price :D (attempting this yourself is not recommended unless you've mastered that "look of persuasion" spock used on the native chik in "omega glory" ) i think i like red cloney's body better though so i was thinkin of boil&poppin pilot's head onto red's body. but i notice pilot's neck is thicker to accomodate balljoint, so does anyone here happen to know if their neckjoints are compatible (or able to be made so w/minimum fuss)? if not, maybe i should axe over on the custom forum, eh jt (http://www.sirstevesguide.com/forums/showthread.php?postid=188289#post188289)? ;)

VT, I saw the virgin suicides. I liked it, but was a little confused by the ending. Don't want to include any spoilers, so I'll follow-up with you about it via e-mail sometime.

I remember Parker's rave meltdown scene. Good stuff. Dewdrops, by deee-lite, eh? coolness...

We'd really enjoy going through the TNG companion. Ray is officially addicted to ST-TNG. On weeknights, it's our official father & son time together. The marathon this week has been great, with the extra commentary by PStewart about Nemesis.

To keep this post on-topic for this forum, On a visit this week to WallyWorld, I scored two saga snowspeeders & one saga AT-AT in a crushed box, which will be my opener.

Almost took the third and last remaining snowspeeder, so I could paint the gun/grappling hook cannon, but I left it on the shelf. Hopefully it won't end up in the hands of a scalper.

There were two AT-ATs on the shelf, both in badly crushed boxes. Dunno what's up with that, since the snowspeeders were all in minty boxes sitting right beside the AT-ATs??? Still looking for a clean-box AT-AT.....

Snowspeeder - well, it doesn't suck. But it also didn't give me any new appreciation for the vehicle. At least the new paint effects on the saga falcon & x-wing enhanced my ability to see some of the details in the molds that didn't pop out as well in the original releases of those ships.

AT-AT - I doubt I have anything to say about this one that hasn't already been covered by other foruMMers. In the areas where more than one white paint spot overlay each other, making irregular-shaped splotches, it looks sorta okay. But the areas where there are single, perfectly round dots totally screw up the intended snow effect. When me and the kids whomp each other with snowballs, we don't end up covered in perfect little o o o o o marks!

Can we PLEEEEEZZZZEEE get some new, original AFs WITH FIGURES!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? P L E E E E E Z Z Z Z E E E ! ! ! ! !

Sorry for the late reply. I thought I was caught up on posts. I guess not.

I haven't seen either of those movies, VT. The previews of Cabin Boy didn't inspire any motivation in me to see it. If you say it's worth a try, I'll check it out. No need to ship it, though. I know that one's available at the local vidstore. Get a Life? I don't know of a movie by that title. Wasn't it a tv series a while back? ---- just checked IMDB, and found a Chris Elliot series with that title, so now I understand the link to cabin boy, but still don't get how it ties in to VS?

To keep this at least marginally on-topic for the MM thread, I saw very little AF on the shelves this x-mas. What I did see were a few first-wave X-wings & VaderTIEs, and they've been sitting on the same shelves at the same stores for at least a month or more. Still no mark-downs on the prices of those shelfwarmer models. I did find the snowspeeder & snowAT-AT a couple weeks before x-mas, but only that one day. Still looking for a clean-box snowAT-AT. Yesterday, I saw Kay-Bee has marked-down 4-packs of the 3-3/4" figs for $9.99.

Did anyone else see better stock quantities, variety, or apparent sales performance of AF at stores in their area? I'm hoping holiday sales were stong enough to NOT give Hasbro an excuse to kill-off the line.

swaffy: no link to VS- GAL was a 1990 fox "sitcom" that somehow evaded cancellation for a whole year & a half, packing a breathtaking concentration of surreal, pee-yer-pants idiocy into its short run; add'l remarx on my profile link :D 4 eps per dvd so lmk if interested in this true tv oddity. meanwhile since you still inexpliciably Refuse to make wit da Humptawk i'll just say right here that i recently heard the sublime "playground love (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00004KD51/qid=1041915209/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/002-7065965-8305605?v=glance&s=music)" from air's VS score used in a new levi's comm where guy&gal drive a car into some water

jdah, belated answer to katebush quextion: Whole Story trax are WUTHERING HEIGHTS, CLOUDBUSTING, THE MAN WITH THE CHILD IN HIS EYES, BREATHING, WOW, HOUNDS OF LOVE, RUNNING UP THAT HILL, ARMY DREAMERS, SAT IN YOUR LAP, EXPERIMENT IV, THE DREAMING & BABOOSHKA. i like wuth & army best, followed by wow & baboosh cuz the 1st best offer her earlier, operatic, asian-style chromatic chord shifts while the latter two don't entirely lose that sound to her later encroaching "fluttery feminist" wardrumming a la a squeaky clannad ;)

I didn't remember to post this sooner, but I saw a dozen first-wave Saga/EP2 AFs - roughly an even mix of X-Wing, TIE Advanced, and Falcons - at one of my local WallyWorlds on Monday evening.

I have no idea if this means that the 1st wave was just over-produced and is being bulk-shipped now, or that there are also plenty of the subsequent wave ships left over, and destined to hit the store shelves sometime soon.

Let's hope it's the latter!

later!

I see piles of Solar Sailers around and a few misc. AFs from wave 1. No wave 3 anywhere.

Those same ~dozen 1st wave Saga AFs are still a-warmin' the same shelf at that same wallyworld.

The other local WM has had a few of the first wave ships sitting there for quite a while, too, but fortunately I looked up and saw six of the brand new ones (two of each) in pristine packages sitting on the top of the shelving, about nine feet high and way down by where the new Hulk toys are stocked. I snagged a staff person with a ladder, and bought all six, cleaning out their stock.

during recent warm weather i've been able to cover about 1/4 of the metro area and have thus far bagged 2 stylin walkmans for $3 (to add to my two-dozen-plus arsenal  ) and the following cds:
for $5: unusual-looking advance issue of mellow's CQ score; haven't seen this flik yet but dug their endsong on Novocaine (humpost #199) :)
for $2.50: sealed copy of sade producer stu matthewman's Twin Falls Idaho score (humpost #74), scores to Oscar & Lucinda and Monsoon Wedding (neither of which i've yet seen but have enjoyed composers thomas newman and mychael danna, respectively); danna's Exotica score (should appear on next humpost) and the Guinivere soundtrack (humpost #206) :)
for $1: gilberto gil's '79 album Realce and deutsch amerikanische freundschaft's '81 album Die Kleinen Und Die BŲsen (a cut by daf alumnus robert gŲrl will likely appear on next mixtape for swaffy) :)
for $2: malcolm mclaren's '89 album Waltz Darling (even tho i doubt it'll be as good as his Paris or Fans); the instinct label's Best Of Acid Jazz and volumes 1 & 2 of This Is Acid Jazz's New Voices; and the Virgin Suicides soundtrack (as with prev-purchased American Beauty soundtrack i'd really rather have its score than this soundtrack, but since this has 2 of air's score cuts it'll hold me for now; anyone want this when i eventually do score the score? maybe swaffy since he's also seen this flik- or maybe my local pal with whom i coined the term "diagonal wood music (http://www.sirstevesguide.com/forums/showthread.php?postid=14960#post14960)", since it includes some good [10cc's "i'm not in love"], some bad [rundgren's "hello it's me"], and some fuh-fuh-fUgly [heart's "magic man" and "crazy on you", gilbert o'sullivan's "alone again naturally" and styx's "come sail away":p :p :p]).
also scored $2 xtras of cds i already got, say here if interested: mazzy star's Among My Swan (source for the "roseblood" included on all your mixtapes), philip glass' scifi synth-opera 1000 Airplanes On The Roof and deee-lite's Dewdrops In The Garden, which i may have to give to swaffy since he just sent an alien giger derelict mm ship for free and he previously xpressed interest in the track Party Girl used from this for the rave-meltdown scene :)
speakin of mm ships, for a change I Actually Have Some MM Baggins To Report :D sighted a buncha loose military mms for $1 each and picked out the following eighteen ships- mostly GalVoys (http://freespace.virgin.net/james.hobson/gv.htm), and most of which will probably go to b'jr but if interested in any say so here just in case :)
alien apc- quelle coinkydink eh swaffy? almost as if it appeared to keep just-sent giger company ;) now i can give b'jr back the one of his 12 i been borrowing :)
not one but Three different colorschemes of the butched-up Ark II (http://www.yesterdayland.com/frames/?toURL=http://www.geocities.com/Hollywood/Hills/6009/ark.htm&fromURL=/popopedia/shows/saturday/sa1003.php) clone shown on the left of gv set 9 (http://freespace.virgin.net/james.hobson/gv.htm) (seriously, does anyone else recall that show (http://www.geocities.com/whittakill/ark/ark2promo2.jpg)? had some snazzy pre-sw hardware  ); i'm gonna keep the cardassian-desert-lookin one for myself & give b'jr back the camo-green one i've been "borrowing" ;)
a camo-greened version of the tank in gv set 8;
two different designs of IndyLastCrusade-type ww1-era, rivet-studded, track-enclosed tanks, one of which did come from the indy mm set;
a pre-bell, M*A*S*H-era, dragonfly-style helicopter;
the beige/pink 50s-styled ship from gv set 2;
the boxy camo tank from gv set 4;
Five darkkon pulverizers from gv set 3, so i Think we'll be able to accomodate you owen (http://www.sirstevesguide.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=18163) (even tho b'jr likes as many of these as he can get, to simulate a borg nanoprobe swarm :eek:;
a "space tank" mm, looks like an early mm design;
and 2 of the tank-like vehicles from gv set 6 :)
also feel free to say if might be interested in seller's other tank, battleship, plane, jet, copter and other military mm vehicles i didn't bag but be warned it's Not my area of expertise so i'm no good at identifying unless you provide pix :p
meanwhile swaffy, i found a $2 vhs of Cannes Man (humpost #57) to add to any VTape club shipment we do this spring :) also sighted $2 vhs' of Dream For An Insomniac (humpost #209) and The Limey (humpost #199) but those are less htf so for now i'm holding out for a better price. meanwhile i finished that TNG Companion book so that'll also be enclosed w/shipment :)
other sightings- anyone say here if interested:
$5 o-o-p strikeforce kbop, no figs or stand evident;
$3 orn free ta figure (cuz it comes w/senatecam droid);
a few common trek mm 3-pax for $5 each;
and the only sighting of another sydmead hotwheel i've yet seen (tho admittedly i haven't looked too hard, having only visually scanned the peg surfaces; haven't actually dug thru em due to lack of interest, and maybe cuz i just don't wanna get cootied up with no redneck scalperwhiff on me :p ), in a scalpercase for $2

I finally found the Syd Mead hotwheels car, his name on the title of the card is way cool, I can't think of another basic HW with that (though I'm no mega-collector of HW). I found it at Target, only one there. Nice vehice, but paint and chrome are way cheaper than they should be (as is the case with nearly all HW cars lately :( ) and those standard HW 5-spoke wheels are dog-ugly on this piece.

oops, forgot to report that i sighted the previews-xclusive b5 figure that comes with the must-for-any-scifimm-collection earth science vessel (http://freespace.virgin.net/james.hobson/b5.htm) in a damaged package for $5
now that i have bc3's online resource in front of me i also see that prev-reported $1 military mm source also had the copter from gv set 8 (not sure if same colors) and the middle ground vehicle from set 9, a set-10-style lunar lander etc- say here if interested :)

just for that i'm gonna throw in an xtra serge gainsbourg '68 "comic strip" cd i scored last year for $2 i've been tryin to decide who's special enuf to give it too, it should make a nice companion piece for earlier-sent mm Paris
report
got a look at af wave 4 (http://www.sirstevesguide.com/forums/showthread.php?postid=230108#post230108); until wenzday's announcement that mms were comin back (http://www.sirstevesguide.com/forums/showthread.php?postid=230103#post230103) i was Gonna say i could scarcely sympathize w/you af collectors lamenting lack of quality in aotc afs cuz at least you Got jangoslave, sailor, at-te & assualt ship, while us mm addicts ain't got Squat from aotc :p
found a sealed cassette of combustible edison's I, Swinger album for $0.25 but since i already scored the cd last year (not sure i've even listened to it yet though :o but i did like their Four Rooms score :) ) that's up for grabs. also a $1 vhs of Desperate Living ('77), aka prolly the only john waters film me & local waters-lovin pal ain't yet seen. will eventually give it to pal but if swaffy wants it included in VTape shipment before that fine, but cuz i've yet to see it i can't really vouch for it (but if it's half as nutty as Polyester, Pink Flamingoes or Female Trouble it should be worthwhile :crazed: ).
bagged b'jr a sentinel hotwheel for srp and in doing so noticed, Damn, stores stock a Lotta hotwheels :p i'll keep eye out for more in case any of yall want one (&if you don't i'm sure b'jr'll be happy to take the xtras :) ) i wonder how high the sent'nl will rate on the redneck-scalp-o-meter rarity scale, and why; anyone happen to know? jt?
found myself several loose aotc gaming cards w/cool spaceship pix on em (the closest i'm gonna come to aotc mms for the time being :p ) for $0.10 each :)
spent like an hour at a fab book/music/vid/toy/wierdstuff shop (http://www.blackandread.com/) (a long stop for me anytime i be huntin) cuz they had a Dozens of trek offical fanclub & starlog ds9 mags i Had to thumb thru cuz they was real cheap ($0.25 each former, $0.50 each latter). finally picked out for myself 2 fc mags (#s 111 and 116, the "conversation w/dukat" and "afrimercians in trek" coverstories, respectively) and 3 ds9s (#s 9, 12 & 24) cuz they had cardie-actor interviews with andy "garak" robinson, paul "tain" dooley, casey "damar" biggs and mel "ziyal" smith (along w/yummy pix  ) (http://www.3miasto.net/~bastian/kardasja/postacie/big/ziyal08.jpg) at those prices i figure you might be real interested in some, jt- they also had lotsa $0.50 sw fc mags- lmk which ones if any :)

vt, to bastardize a wonderful CathDen adverquote: "don't hate me because I'm principled."

I made a choice, and I'm standing by it. At some point, I may make a choice to return to the other forums. You may not agree with my reasons, but please try to respect my decision to stand by my principles. You know damn well that my decision had nothing to do with you, and wasn't meant to imply that I don't value your contributions to the "hump" forum. Your posts are among the most thoughtful and entertaining on this, or any other forum. Unless or until I choose to post elsewhere, I'll continue to e-mail you, or tread the off-topic line by posting some stuff here. I hope you'll continue to read what I e-mail you with the same weight as had I posted it to the humpthread.

Since so much of Hot Wheels collecting is how it looks, that factors in. However, being "the first" is important, as is being rare. Personally, I couldn't care less if Mattel simply flooded the market with each car, but I know some collectors are only in it for the Treasure Hunts and whatnot.

25 bones for a Playmates DS9, that's a sweet find! There's yet another piece I forgot I wanted. Playmates never handled the larger vehicles right IMO, that should have been the keystone to their Trek line instead of being treated as someone's dirty little step-cousin.

Hi VT, sorry I haven't noticed the question.

But if I remember well, "The english patient" is an american movie ? I loved it but I must confess I'm not an admirer of Juliette Binoche... since I've seen her in "Les amants du Pont-Neuf" by Leos Carax - (France - 1991). She played a homeless and she really became a homeless before filming, spending nights outside under the bridges, asking for money in the metro and she slept several night in a homeless center (a very bad place) to learn her role... (...) here is the pitch :
"Set against Paris' oldest bridge, the Pont Neuf, while it was closed for repairs, this film is a love story between two young vagrants: Alex, a would be circus performer addicted to alcohol and sedatives and Michele, a painter driven to a life on the streets because of a failed relationship and an affliction which is slowly turning her blind. The film portrays the harsh existence of the homeless as Alex, Michele and Hans, an older vagrant survive on the streets with their wits. As they both slowly get their lives back together, Michele becomes increasingly dependent on Alex as her vision deteriorates further. Fearing that Michele will leave him if she receives a new medical treatment Alex attempts to keep Michele practically a prisoner. The streets, skies and waterways of Paris are used as a backdrop to the story in a series of stunning visuals which dominate the film."
It's a very disturbing movie, completely crazy...
Ok then here are my preferred movies of the last two years :
8 women ("8 femmes") de FranÁois Ozon (director) with Natalie Baye, Fanny Ardant, Catherine Deneuve, Emmanuelle Beart, Virginie Ledoyen (cutie), Ludivine Sagnier (cutie), Dannielle Darrieux, Dominique Lamure, Firmine Richard. An excellent movie on women with an old house, a dead man and eight women... who is the murderer ?

Best french actor 2003 is Adrian Brody (talentuous american actor in an English production : "The Pianist"). My preferred Roman Polanski movie is still "Dance of the Vampires".
Best actress, Isabelle Carrť in "Se souvenir des belles choses" ("remembering the good things" by Zabou Breitmann - France 2002).
Best foreign movie, "Bowling for Colombine" by Michael Moore (USA).
Best European Union movie : "Parle avec elle" ("Hable con ella") 2002 by Pedro Almodovar (Spain). I must agree, this movie is great : a must see.

I also loved :
"Punch-drunk Love" by Paul Thomas Anderson (USA). Adam Sandler made a superb performance in this movie.
"Intervention divine" ("Yadon ilaheyya") 2002 (Palestine/IsraŽl/France - co-production) by Elia Suleiman ; a very funny (but also serious) movie on the tragic events in IsraŽl.
Elia Suleiman is a Palestinian director, one of the best friends of the famous Israeli director Amos GittaÔ, he lived several years in New York when he was making TV movies. Great prize of the jury, prize of the critic - Cannes Festival 2002.
"No Man's Land" (of course !!!) by Danis Tanovic (France/Italia/United Kingdom/Slovania/Belgium - co-production - 2001). One of the best movies (with the English "Warriors") on the Yougoslavian war. Realistic, absurd and drole. The scenario was written starting from real facts and is very paradoxal, fun and sad at the same time.
"Playtime" by Jacques Tati (France - 1967). A group of young american girls unload in Orly with one of these voyages in groups of Economic Airline. They visit ultramodern Paris, where all the cars resemble each other, where everyone is equipped in the same way. An American young person notice however a curious "dťguingandť" man, who smokes the pipe and has often his umbrella caught in the doors. Funny man this Hulot. It will start a serie of catastrophes which will give again colors at the city.
This movie, filmed in 1967 almost ruined Jaques Tati, a lot of scenes were cut and the film was damaged during the years. Everything has been restored in 2002 and the movie is now complete.
Concerning SW :
Ok I'm a SW lover but I must say the AOTC scenario is not as amazing as the scenari from the first trilogy. I can only regret the loss of what made with dimensions the sympathetic nerve of the first trilogy : Humour !!!
Were are the arguments between princess LeÔa and Han Solo ? The jealousy between Luke and Han... Gone ???

always happy 2 clarify, esp. re the crucial topic of, to paraphrase mayor quimby doing his best jkf, What Yoo Cahn Doo Fohr ME :D
see, gapgirl rb2 told me tourdroids are available at retail at disneyland store for $6 each, so i'm sayin if that's true (a big if, since he also told me all 9 have been released so  ) & opportunity arises plz bag me one of each for tokyo pal, except for rx24 and g24t since i just scored those; also, plz get 2 of r4m9 cuz one of those for tokyo pal & one for Me :D

"your language is becoming undecipherable"
-you think That's bad, just the other day in i was sayin to someone in a tarzhay toy aisle gleeble, glerrrble, blerrrble, meepzorp, shizzle shnadizzle televizzle, cruggaZUNCH krubble krubble krubble ;)
hmm, maybe if you waited 24hrs before reading anything i post, cuz up until then they're subject to my compulsive (and lamentably necessary) re-editings of them for errors, clarity & flow :crazed: so help me i just Can't seem to get any but the briefest of posts out the gate the first time polished to my satisfaction :p ;)

gsj: roger mazzy, & forgot to axe: would you like an id4aa with or without a precision-drilled underside standhole? since i never touched the one you sent before, i can offer you either :)

jdah: Say, that is not a bad idear; while we're at it, I could copy comments from swaffy flik emails and paste em (anonymously of course, a la advice-columns) onto the Hump, and then reply to them There  then You can copy/paste Those replies and email them Back to swaffy :D;)

sicq: hey that's great but actually i was just asking if you like the french bands Mellow or Air ;) seriously, unless your ambition is to be swaffy#3 (jdah may have claimed the #2 designation  ) it would be bow-coo maneefeeek to see you over at the Hump (http://www.sirstevesguide.com/forums/showthread.php?postid=42569#post42569) where i'll happily respond to your stylin cine-remarx :)

 Of course I know "Air", these two guys are well known here. They are real musicians (classic) lost into electronic music. The track "Kelly watch the stars" was very popular. I prefer "Daft Punk" or Laurent Garnier.
 Never heard about "Mellow"... sorry.

ok then, how bout a Hole one, that way you can marvel "wow that's a professional hole vt drilled, how'd he Do that?" (which happens to be what She axed last nite- NDOISH!! :D)

sicq: hm, maybe mellow are belgian, not french; if so wouldn't be the 1st time i've made such a mistake (http://www.sirstevesguide.com/forums/showthread.php?postid=190658#post190658) ;) anyhoo they did the music for CQ (http://www.mgm.com/experiencecq/) which i recently bagged (huntpost 426 above) and, unless i'm mistaken, is how i should pronounce the abbreviation of your nomdeplume, oui? seek-Yoo? :)
garnier's name rings a bell, he's done some producing or remixing, right?

swaffy: recall my sayin in post 429 above i thought i could do better than $2 for Dream For An Insomniac? well technically i did: $1.80  other VTape club baggins- lmk which of these and prev-listed you might want sent:
10/$12: The Limey (humpost 199), Dreamlife Of Angels (humpost 210), Small Time Crooks (humpost 116), almodovar's All About My Mother (humpost 92), polanski's Bitter Moon, hal hartley's Simple Men, a vhs of Real Blonde, an xtra copy of Chuck & Buck for local pal, Lie Down With Dogs (mar 22 '01 humpost (http://www.filmscoremonthly.com/board/posts.asp?threadID=1764&forumID=1&pageID=3)) and Entropy (http://us.imdb.com/Title?0156515) which i haven't yet seen, so plz wait til i have so i can in all good conscience endorse its inclusion in the club shipment :)
3/$5: Pompatus Of Love (humpost 38), Blue In The Face (humpost 1) and Rounders (http://us.imdb.com/Title?0128442) :)
aside from isolated spots i've about finished my spring hunting, and right before daylight savings kicks in as i prefer (ask & i'll xplain :) ). baggins, all for me me ME unless otherwise stated:
2 more srp sydcars for b'jr which brings his total to 18 i think :crazed:
5&cent sealed may 02 u.s. Vogue w/nat portman cover story, which i spose i'll have to rip out & add to the modest-but-growing pile of clippins i been savin for jdah, knowing same's avidity for her :)
66&cent Criticism: Major Statements essay anthology and $1 Making Of Deep Space Nine big tpb; after skimming latter i'll prolly rip out a few production design pix i like & discard the rest in case anyone wants :) also $1 nov 99 trekmag w/breen ship designs & cardassian society articles i'll prolly rip out & save :)
50&cent o'jays' "i love music" 45 single and a buncha cds:
$1- jw's ep1 score, morricone's Vatel score (haven't seen but at this price happy to take chance), thomas newman's Up Close & Personal score (ditto), sven vath's Harlequin, Robot And Ballet Dancer, Further Adventures Of Der Shrimpkin by primus-y sf jazz combo eskimo (who did Some Prefer Cake's fantastic score :) ), a 2nd copy of the Big Tease soundtrack (for local pal), and a 2nd copy of dmitri from paris' Sacrebleu (guess i'll have to give this to gsj too, since it'd go so well w/mmparis & serge ;) )
4/$6- Girl From Ipanema- The Antonio Carlos Jobim Songbook, donizetti's Il Campanello opera, john barry's Zulu And Other Themes and a 2nd copy of towa tei's Sound Museum i might Also have to give to gsj since it'd go good w/Sacrebleu? :crazed:
3/$5- serge gainsbourg's A Gainsbarre, the Pompatus Of Love soundtrack and the Novocaine soundtrack (humpost 199) :)
$2: goldsmith's Trek First Contact score :)
also sighted a sealed $7 copy of pglass' new Naqoyqatsi score; tempting, but i think w/patience i can best that :) besides i ain't yet viewed the flik & don't wanna "music-spoiler" it for myself :)
of course what Most of you sat thru that vacation slideshow for is to hear that on monday, in the bowels of an off-the-main-drag, hole-n-the-wall junk store that's only open like 3 days a week i scored a small bag containing, besides a sote swoop mm, 104 mm figs and 40 af figs, all for only $3; and i'll be happy to part them out to anyone here seeking specific ones :D
cuz they only cost like 2&cent each i wouldn't charge any of you for any except maybe for the nominal shipping; however you needn't bother paying even that if maybe you got xtra mm ships to trade me in return? :)
so who gets what, 1st claimed 1st served? well sort of: artoo gets 1st pick of any mm figs cuz i feel like b'jr & i still owe him for the good swap he made us a year ago. next in line are people who're already getting stuff from me or meeting up w/me in near future (so as to minimize shipping cost mentioned above), and after That it's 1st come 1st served. which is all complicated but don't worry: just say so here if you want any of these & i'll sort out who gets what :)
note that af & mm figs are not my specialty so lmk if need info more specific than listings below:

Very nice find VT! :)
It is really true you are still able to find undiscovered treasures.

Sometime ago you already helped me with the AF Cloud Car pilot and the seated Han Solo from the C-3PO transforming head.

I am still looking for some MM and AF figure (Duros from C-3PO trasforming head, Ugnaught from Darth Vader transforming head, Han Solo in snowsuit from Rebel Pilot transforming head, and AF Jek Porkins) but unfortunately it looks like they are not included in what you find.

Anyway I would be very happy to buy from you everything will remain after other forummers and B'jr have what they want. Since I am trying both to write a list of all MM and AF figures variations and to create some diorama with my vehicles, the more the figures I have the better. :)

So please let me know if you will have something for me in the end.
Thank you in advance. :D

wow! after all these years you still remember guri! my she was a fine lass!

thanx fer thinkin' of moi, fortunately, guri was also available in battle pack 5, so's i got's that covered.

if no one else speaks up, the tonnika twin would be cool, i only have one, and hell, they're supposed to be twins anyway, so no one's gonna know the diff, if it's just a dupe o' the 1st (perhaps the 1st known instance of a clone in the star wars saga!)

dmitri's screbleu and towa's sound museum would be most welcome! what's lady kir been up to lately?

btw, i am the new owner of a white pt cruiser (named her elsie, cause emily thought it looked like a milk truck!), vt's mix tape supreme sounds even better in this sled than it ever did in my chrysler concorde!

VT - VTapeClub pix-picks:
The Limey (saw it - wasn't thrilled - no thanx)
Dreamlife Of Angels (sounds cool!)
Small Time Crooks (yes, please)
Chuck & Buck (if you were offering - was ambiguous from your post)
Lie Down With Dogs (I'll try it...)
Entropy (I'll wait til u hump it ;) )
Pompatus Of Love (okiedokie)

thanks muchly!

On the af minifigs, if you would be willing to select couple rebel and imperial pilots (of any ilk), I'd love to use them in the newer sans-figure SWAF releases (the ones that still are designed to accept figs, that is  )

Thx again!!!!

jg: you may have all non-claimed if you wish, but i have an idea: plz say which 15-20 figs you might care less about, in case i can trade those for any of the ones you listed :)

gsj: "mix tape supreme sounds even better in this sled"
-still diggin eh? excellent, it was designed to endure  then i guess we can look fwd to an eventual cut-by-cut critique of same on mmixtape thred? oh goody :D
roger towa & dmitri, but fyi latter wasn't in deeelite, that was supa dj dmitry brill, who btw i met once; easy to confuse em though eh? ;) dunno bout his wife lady kier, maybe in rehab still recovering from the potency of the vulcan hand-sign she saw me flash her at a fall '92 rave? :crazed: btw forgot to mention dmitry paris cd is missing booklet; also forgot to mention i scored a $1 Truman Show soundtrack which has some pglass cuts, so want that Too? :crazed:
i figured someone'd want tonnika; as i recall ham salad (remember him?) had me hunt down a 2nd copy of that battlepack cuz he too wanted to twinnicize them tonkatruck sistas :crazed:

swaffy: "Limey (saw it - wasn't thrilled"
-godDEMI MOORE, if only i could coax u to discuss it u no where :p do me a flavor? when you see these clubflix (or re Any recently-viewed flix for that matter), type up lil humpthoughts & archive em until you're reddy, upon your eventual righteous return to the hump, to unleash em there?
confirmed 7 VTape preferences (will lyk re Entropy and yep, ChuckBuck's on the table, was sayin i scored one for pal and one for club/libdonation :) ), as well as your prev-xpressed interest in Get A Life dvds. re the rest you haven't mentioned:
Dream 4 Insomniac, Safe, Splendor, Henry Fool, Cannes Man, Luzhin Defence, Blue In The Face, Big Tease- all highly recommend if you haven't seen, both for inherent interest and the unlikeliness of blockbuster stockage :p
All About My Mother- esp. if not prev. familiar with almodovar's oeuvre (http://us.imdb.com/Name?Almod%F3var,+Pedro#director) :)
Swimming W/Sharks- if your kspacey "embargo" is at all flexible; he's hellafun here & gets put thru quite a wringer  also has ensign ro to recommend it
Simple Men (see mar 22 01 humpost (http://www.filmscoremonthly.com/board/posts.asp?threadID=1764&forumID=1&pageID=3))- recommend if might be interested in/familiar with director hartley, otherwise maybe let his Henry Fool be your intro to his work for now :)
Bitter Moon- ditto above re polanski; deleted hump available on request :)
Rounders- good but not crucial to include cuz more ez2access; i mainly bought it for libdonation :)
Desperate Living (john waters)- up to you cuz i haven't yet seen, but will soon :)
and re Lie Down W/Dogs- only if you liked Broadway Damage which, seeing as how you never Humped it, i'm assuming you didn't; otherwise, as matchmakin laraflynn boyle sed to her just-divorced-from-pederast-hubby sis who complained that lfb didn't set Her up with phone-perv ps hoffman at the end of Happiness, "trust me- Not For You" :crazed:
also, a local pal who owes me a favor has dvds of Gummo and Amelie i'm sure he'd be happy to loan to our lil club; lmk if interested, i highly recommend both :D
meanwhile i'd be happy to reserve 4u a "couple rebel and imperial pilots of any ilk" if only i could guess which of the listed af figs (i.e. not mm figs?) you think would fit that description- plz specifry

JediGoofy

Good suggestion VT. :)
Here it is a list of the figures less important for me.

AF FIGS:
vader (x2)
biker luke
biker leia
dewback-ridin sandtroop
MM FIGS:
slave leia
vader (4x)
8x tiepilots (4 styles; 2 of each)
9 reb pilots (4 styles; 2+2+2+3)
most of the jawas
and all the replicated figures

Anyway I do not want to exclude other forummers from your offer. What remains after everybody had what they want is very fine for me. :D

Ciao,

holy moley VT, you sure do pack a lot of things to respond to in your posts!

re: do me a flavor?....
* Okay, I will try to keep notes after my flixwatchin' & make sure you're kept apprised.

re: VTape preferences: Dream 4 Insom/Safe, Splendor/Henry Fool/Cannes Man/Luzhin Defence/Blue In The Face/Big Tease...
* Okay, on your high recommendation, I'll try 'em.

re: All About My Mother- esp. if not prev. familiar with almodovar's oeuvre
* um... okay, if it's not depressing, and it's in english (dubbed is ok), but not subtitled.

re: Swimming W/Sharks
* okay, I'll bite. ;) (my "Kspacey embargo" permits watching as long as not a nano-cent of profit makes its way back into his coffers from my viewin')

re: Simple Men
* howzabout I "let his Henry Fool be my intro to his work for now"?

re: Bitter Moon
* I'm not ready to give the RO-man an unbiased opinion on anything he does yet. My view of him is still too tainted by his poor choice of intimate partners some time ago.

re: Rounders
* A gambing movie, eh? Well, if you wanna throw it in the box, I'll watch it. It may be a good one to help get the "ol' ball & chain" more engaged in watching the whole batch o' flix....

re: Desperate Living (john waters)
* I think I've become too stodgy in my old age to put up with John Waters anymore. David Lynch, too, for that matter!

re: Lie Down W/Dogs
* no, I'll pass. but thanx much for offering!

re: Gummo and Amelie
* Sure, why not. I hope you're not gonna be in a hurry to get these back! These will take me a while to get through.

re: "...pilots.... plz specifry"
* 2 or 3 Tie Pilots and 2 or 3 Rebel Pilots. Not picky on specific characters, as long as they look like pilots.

thanx again.... :D

...roger swaffy; plz confirm you understand pilots are rigid-standing mm figs, not articulated, cockpit-friendly af figs yes?
almodovar's subtitled so will withhold; meanwhile Dreamlife is also subtitled but it's so good i Insist :D same with Amelie dvd tho it may offer a dubbed option- not that i'd know cuz i'd Nevah avail myself of such a provincial bourgeois choice :p meanwhile, just posted humps of Entropy & Big Tease (http://www.sirstevesguide.com/forums/showthread.php?postid=238638#post238638); i only recommend latter :) and btw when i suggested archiving your Humpthoughts i didn't mean In MY Mailbox, geez

"sure do pack a lot of things to respond to in your posts"
-like i sez to gsj in post 453 above, That's What SHE Said Lazt Nite- NDOISHHH! :crazed: speakin of packin, if VTape parcel gets too tight i'd suggest we leave out Rounders &/or Small Time Crooks since they're easier to blockbust-rent ;P

"hope you're not gonna be in a hurry to get these back"
-nah, i'm plannin ahead this time so take thy time :) in fact maybe if you resume humposts you can help keep that thred righteously buoyant during my summer flikdrought by posting all summer long :D

"if it's not depressing"
-askin the wrong guy- flix never depress me, only life can do that; flix can only disappoint me

"not ready to give the RO-man an unbiased opinion"
-ah, Solondz Syndrome eh? still havin trouble separatin the art from the artist i see ;)
report
b'jr & i did a lil mop-up hunt this weekend; sighted b5 mm 3-pak #6(ef1 (http://r2toyforce.net/IMAGES/vtime2003VTprotocompareB_7.JPG)/marie celeste/narn heavy) for $40, not bad by current scalper prices so anyone lmk if interested. bagged myself $2.50 jamiroquai Travelling Without Moving (so will have to give away my cassette of this), $2 Blair Witch 2 score (haven't seen/heard but it's carter burwell so happy to try :) ), and a $2 2nd copy of mazzy's She Hangs Brightly so i guess now gsj's gonna be getting all 3 of their albums :crazed:
meanwhile bjr's become quite a sighter/bargainer in his own right: went back to those loose $1 military mms i'd prev sighted (post 426 above) and he swung a deal for 78 of them (mostly tanks but also air & sea) for $50 :) he also picked up that $5 b5 brown ship (post 430 above) and got them to cut price by $1.50 if he didn't take its unwanted figure :) also got same line's starfury and minbari warship for ~$4 each the same way :) we also found him the large id4 mm's toy for $7.50 and a $1 mm-fig pack of 9 tie pilots :)
speaking of figs, jg: i'm afraid the only af figs trade source had are red-helm tie pilot, deathstartroop, ig88, tonnika, an xwing pilot (not sure which one but he ain't porkins), ponda, bossk, dashrendar, swoopbiker, i****ib, skiffylando, garindan, pilot vader, 2 xizors and 3 tie pilots. meanwhile, if it's ok b'jr would like to keep following from the haul:
AF FIGS:
tusken bantha rider
biker leia
yoda
deathstar droid
boussh
ben (1)
bossk
bib fortuna
3po
r2
slave leia
gamorrean
scouttroop
dewback-ridin sandtroop
sandtroops (2x)
MM FIGS:
deathstar gunner
tarkin
slave leia
fett
blond w/reb skirt (epic)
yoda
3po (2x)
r2 (2x)
stormtroop w/brown base
9 gray-base stormtroops (4 styles; 2+2+2+3)
8x tiepilots (4 styles; 2 of each)
8 hands-up jawas
8 jawas w/wrenches
11 of the jawas w/guns
6 of the "boogie night" jawas
which, since i haven't heard any interest from artoo, means that you'll be getting ~half of all the figs and bjr'll be getting ~half (and swaffy/gsj a few each) :) so in lieu of a trade arrangement, since you'll both be getting so many you'll each pay $1.50 (plus shipping), ok? meanwhile lmk if any other questions/ideas :)

p.s. to sicq: i think i confuse garnier w/francois kevorkian ;) also, moebius' metabaron = The Incal's fett

-ironic such a stance against exclusion would impact what i dare say is the most Inclusive thred in ssg-town :( recall the fab sensitive-issue debate we had there re Happiness? well my latest humpost, among others, offers several examples of the kind of expressive freedom one can still pull off on ssg, provided one deftly goes about it within the discreet, nuanced context of discussing flix. i for one don't mind working within such limits cuz they're a nice challenge, so you could say that since march 20 (http://www.sirstevesguide.com/forums/showthread.php?postid=232992#post232992) the Hump endures as the most subversive and freewheelin thred on ssg :D
btw, kofi chirac's guide?? not sure i capeesh, cuz ss' conservative leanings are well-known, and not just among those of us obsidian operatives who track such things  meanwhile i notice your declaration was posted almost 1 year to the day after my quickly-censored vow to leave fsmmb (sep 8 '01), so i spose i should be flattered by thy imitation ;)
btw, BlueInTheFace's box sez it's a preview demo, so just to be sure i play-tested it. turns out it has a "property of miramax" copy-prevention crawl on screen's bottom edge that repeats every 3-4 minutes. doesn't seem too distracting for a lively flik like this tho, so i suggest still including it; concur? :) on related note:
gsj: have playtested most of the cds i'm sending you cuz some came w/cosmetic scratches. no skips occured and am confident none will, but if any do lmk so i can remedy :)
to all: i suggest we wait at least til after local trekcon in late april before i ship anything, in case i find anything there to include :)

Well to tell you the truth VT, I have been in a film desert since Last December and I find it very difficult to sit in front of a TV at the moment. Consequently, my LOTRs mega-DVD package, AOTC DVD, Farscape DVDs, Eddie Izzard Circle DVD, etc etc etc have all been gathering dust. I caught Ghost Ship on the plane (Which I enjoyed admittedly because of Juliana Margulies' presence therein  ), Ring in the Amerisuites hotel room and saw The Core on Sunday.

So, I have very little valuable input at the moment. ;) I am not boycotting the Hump. I must admit however that it seems these days that whenever I venture to Gendisc, some or other member of SSG will quote what I have said, misinterpret it and lambast me. I really can't be bothered with such childishness from the Peanut Gallery so unless there is something I really want to say, I don't bother.

I guess it is easier to ignore the child pulling at your clothes for chocolate or toys than it is to argue with it ;)

some of my lifes greatest moments were had whilst clothe pullin' in pursuit of chocolate:evil:

not to worry about cosmetic scratches on the cd's. in my nearly 20 years of collecting these superior to vinyl in the sonic department yet sucky supreme in the presentations of album art and linear notes, i have yet to hear one scratch or develope a digital stutter that i wasn't able to correct with a quick wipe of a soft cloth.

btw, i've decided not to wait fer an answer to my qextion regarding whether i should ship now or wait (although your comment regarding that all further shipping from co will be delayed until after trekcon may or may not be an answer), the parcel has been posted this morning with all protos intact, id4 added, as well as the previously mentioned suprise!

Hi VT,
I will be happy whatever you will be able to send me. :)
And of course I will send you the money asap as soon as you know the total including the shipping.
By the way, since it looks like I am getting the biggest part of the figures, I would be happy to give you all the 3 dollars you paid for them. It would be a pleasure to contribute in some way to the b'jr's amazing collection. :D

Ciao,
JediGoofy

P.S. I think it is a nice idea to have both the Tonnika twins (thanks to GSJ for the idea) so, if it is possible, can you try to trade some figures for the Tonnika available at your trade source? Thank you in advance! :)

VT, I'm used to "Property of " crawls on some of my movies, from all the "dvd screeners" off kazaa. No problemo!

Coincidence you should mention "Happiness" since we were just remembering that movie on Sunday, here at home. We happened upon a train-wreck of a tv show, aptly named "The Pitts" and recognized the show's father character as the pedaddy from Happiness. Dylan [i]someone?...

re: the KCG / SSG reference. I know nothing of the "leanings" of u-no-hoo. If it's true that he's a conservative thinker, then I apologize for the mischaracterization, but I stand by my opinion that the recent decision restricting certain content gives the appearance, if not the reality, of a lack of intestinal fortitude on behalf of forum mgmt.

Other than this forum (and the hump - at least in a spiritual sense), discussing socio-political issues was the most interesting thing about this site for me, for a period of time. It is disappointing to see that facet of the site being abandoned. To be honest, I haven't been to gendisc since I posted there last, so all I know of the tone there lately is what I can infer from Jeddah's post. I'm not at all surprised to learn that the same cabal of dipwads is piling on against Jeddah's posts. At least they're consistently shabby.

Tell that to the dozen or so discs I've had go wonky over the years. The last track of my poor Ozzy "No More Tears" CD is unplayable, there's no working track on my Jimi Hendrix Experience "Are You Experienced?" disc anymore thanks to small surface scratches, the list goes on and on. I think some might be fillable (they make a scratch-filler to fix this), but some have reflective-side scratches which are not fixable. :(

Swaffy, I understand what you mean about socio-political discussions, it was a hard choice for us to make, but there were so many fights that were getting out of control so quickly that it just became too much of a problem to let continue.

jg: was able to get you af tonnika in trade for 1 mm rebpilot, 1 mm vader and 1 af biker luke, all of which you'd indicated were low-priority tradables, yes? will include her when sending :) meanwhile had a 3-way thought: b'jr & i still feel indebted to this forum's darthcarlos from the last trade he & i did, so since you don't currently have any mm ships with which to compensate us maybe email him instead & ask if there's something you might be able to help him with? :)
meanwhile, found b'jr 3 more srp sydcars (brings his total to 22) and a $2 af tie-int (no figs or stand); turns out it was the only tie af (aside from defender) he didn't already have (http://r2toyforce.net/IMAGES/aut_4214bjcollectionupstairs_7f.jpg)- not that i knew that when buying it (i never kept as close track of his afs as his mms ;) ) he also paid srp for 3 af sailors despite my assurance that we'll be able to to do much better than that price in the months to come
local trekcon's friday apr 25th (hopefully b'jr & i'll meet r2 there- still got ephant 4her :) ), so if there's anything yall want us to keep eye out for, specifry min. acceptable condition & max acceptable price here b4 then :)

$5 battledamaged droideka and r4m9, both on bent cards; b'jr'll take if i can't use em for good trade bait :)

oh yeah, at yardsale on way there scored a Step Off triphop comp cd for $1 :D also $1 magnolia double-vhs for libdonation and $1 soundtrack (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00000JMWY/qid=1051634563/sr=2-2/ref=sr_2_2/104-2956809-8033539) for local pal who loves wretched '70s music :p

Without getting into specifics (because get this, apparently he can sue me for telling the truth about this crap), the host of the server that does my business is on decided to get out of the hosting business. Now, even though this clown KNOWS that downtime is the bane of all web-based business and can snowball into massive financial loss, jerkweed decides that instead of giving all his loyal customers ample advance notice to move, he'd rather try to sell his customers to another company and bargain with them for a big finder's fee. Even though he knew exactly when the bandwidth was being turned off, he shopped us around without our knowledge until he found another host capable of handling our needs that would show him his big payday, once he hammered out the deal, he gave us all 12 days notice and then after promising minimal downtime and a fast transfer to the new servers, he botched the transfer, gave us a week of downtime, major problems transfering the DNSes, and sold off the servers with data on it without finishing everybody's transfer.

Bah humbug, and I hope his big payoff gives him really painful papercuts!!!
