since i don't read french (and in the past many of moeb's stories have been translated into english), my priority is non-verbal content that hasn't been (and likely will not be) re-published in english. which means illustration collections or non-verbal stories i don't already have. good examples would be Starwatcher (http://www.bdland.com/cgi-bin/albumaff.cgi?x=1d&caC=119), Made In L.A. (http://www.bdland.com/cgi-bin/albumaff.cgi?x=1d&caC=117), Venise Celeste (http://www.bdland.com/cgi-bin/albumaff.cgi?x=1d&caC=118), 2001 Apres JC (http://budplant.com/prod.itml/icOid/7246), Quatre-Vingt Huit and Blueberry's but i already have those.
since i am more aware of what Has been published in english than what has Not, getting more specific becomes difficult. however, this (http://budplant.com/prod.itml/icOid/10793) and this (http://budplant.com/prod.itml/icOid/9368) look like promising candidates :) other possibilities, tho i can't be sure since i can't read their descriptions:
http://www.bdland.com/cgi-bin/albumaff.cgi?x=1d&caC=6498
http://www.bdland.com/cgi-bin/albumaff.cgi?x=1d&caC=8569
http://www.bdland.com/cgi-bin/albumaff.cgi?x=1d&caC=122
http://www.bdland.com/cgi-bin/albumaff.cgi?x=1d&caC=8603
(but i Am curious what they are :) )
i also heard there was a new, colorized edition of this (http://budplant.com/prod.itml/icOid/5611) which might also be cool but since i already have the blanc et noir version it's a lesser priority :)
what i do Not seek are signed or limited-edition prints, folios (http://budplant.com/prod.itml/icOid/10789) (tho friends visiting paris did get me L'Evťnement Du Je Dis 10 years ago) or books (tho i did go for Mockba, Jeunesse Heuresse and Folles Perspectives), since their contents are often offered later in less expensive formats and so are simply not worth the money. also don't want things he only wrote but did not draw, such as this (http://www.bdland.com/cgi-bin/albumaff.cgi?caC=5854&x=1s).
other examples of what not to get would be Arizona Love, this (http://www.bdland.com/cgi-bin/albumaff.cgi?caC=6491&x=1s) or this (http://www.casterman.com/moebius/albums/?album=5) because, even tho i don't have these contents, they are sequels to stories i have in english so it's possible they will eventually be published here :)
price is important too, since i'm not sure what jg would think the figures i sent him are worth in euros. but used books are fine (and even preferable since they are cheaper :greedy: ), as i'm not fussy about condition so long as content isn't impacted. same goes for cheapest shipping :)
there are probably a number of things i don't even know about, so feel free to let me know about anything you think i might not know about. take your time seeing what kind of deals you can find, & let me know if you have any questions. meanwhile, mare-see bow-cool, what fun it must be to hunt in pareee ;)

do the rest of you Realize what sicq's talking about?? ridley scott engaged moeb (along with giger) to design nostromo crew costume designs. i have all these pix in various books but Sicq Owns The Originals?! sacre delphine seyrig  post 504 became harry dean stanton's look, and posts 505 & 507 feature the spacesuit eventually made into an mm figure for the alien playset! cool sicq, i had no idea you were such a big moebfan, you never Said anything
btw if you end up finding more moebbooks than jg's pkg could compensate for, maybe i'll have jdah reimburse you since jdah still owes me for, as proust might put it, Remebrance Of MM Favors Past :greedy:

No, no, no...
These are just drawings from a Portofolio by Metal Hurlant (1979), not originals.

Metal Hurlant (Heavy Metal) was a legend in the early seventies, this fantastic, heroic fantasy and sci-fi comics magazine was founded by Phillippe Druillet, MoŽbius, Dionnet and Farkas.
Lots of bizarre and strange comics and stories were published in it. And lots of very well know authors : Vaugh n' Bodť, MoŽbius, Druillet, Rackham, Frazetta, Kay Nielsen, John Willie, Jeff Jones, Rolf, Carl Larson, Corben, Tardi, more, more, more...
But what you got to know is Giger made paintings and drawings for Metal Hurlant as well as Dan O'Bannon who wrote the text of "The Long To-Morrow" by MoŽbius and Chris Foss made the artcover for Metal Hurlant nį 11. A small planet indeed. (Dan O'Bannon wrote the script of "Alien").
All these people were friends and it's not surprising to see five of them in the casting of Alien...

There is a smaller rťedition of "Metal Hurlant" since last year. A great news for all sci-fi and comics fans. But this modern edition is half the size and in color... In the 70' editions I discovered some of my preferred artists : Phillippe Druillet (Lone Sloane), Jean Giraud "MoŽbius", Enki Bilal (Exterminator 17) but also the sketchbooks of Christian Foss, Ronnie Cobb or Hans Rudy Giger.

. . .Heavy Metal magazine (http://www.dreamwater.org/heavymetal/hmlist81.html) (check out july '81 cover  ), which premiering about the same time as Star Wars and introducing yanks to caza, crepax, bilal, bode, corben, liberatore et al, and in the process making a moebfan out of lucas himself :) druillet's not bad, i had/have (can't recall offhand) his Lone Sloane, published here ~1981. he's a little sloppy & illegible but sometimes makes up for it w/striking gouache colors & graphics :) also kinda dug the art of gimenez (Metabarons) and fernandez (Zora), and bjr's long been a big fan of giger (as you can prolly infer from his his (http://r2toyforce.net/IMAGES/aut_4185bjcollectionmm_7f.jpg) hell (http://r2toyforce.net/IMAGES/aut_4177bjcollectionmm_7f.jpg) display (http://r2toyforce.net/IMAGES/aut_4179bjcollectionmm_7f.jpg) ) and has several of his books :)

. . . but if i recall correctly i seen a buncha those in tatcov's bargain section for a similar price. at any rate its contents aren't really my cuppa (thumbed thru it when it came out ~2 years ago); what i really dig aboot sontag is the striking, yummy figure she cut in '60s intellegensia, paglia's initial worship of and subsequent feud with her (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0679751203/qid=1056384875/sr=1-3/ref=sr_1_3/104-3368037-2516740?v=glance&s=books#product-details), and her classic artcrit essays (http://pages.zoom.co.uk/leveridge/sontag.html); on rainy afternoons this spring i got thru ~1/3 of On Photography and most of her latest (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0374248583/qid=1056383372/sr=2-1/ref=sr_2_1/104-3368037-2516740), in which one salient observation she makes is that while american media routinely avoid trafficking in graphic images of american/caucasian casualties (marines, 9/11 victims, bosnians etc), people of other races or nations (starving africans, holocaust victims, napalmed viets or bombed arabs) are often as not denied this "dignity" :dead:

I just thought I'd ask about the Annie/Susan book, since I saw it for a good price, and recall you mentioning SSontag a few times.

Was the Evans bio in book or VTape form? If it is the movie, lemme know how you like it. I caught the last few minutes of the movie (basically the end credits only) on cable in the hotel last week.

[mini-SPOILER-alert....]

All it was was Dustin Hoffman doing what I assume was an ad-lib of who I assume is Evans. It was amazing.

i got a real kick comin across the following entry in a "new design products" article on p. 102 of the dec '02 issue of Dwell (dwellmag.com) :

Syd Mead's Sentinel 400 Limo
Hot Wheels/Mattel, 2002, $.99
For over 40 years, Syd Mead's hyper-futuristic vision has remained remarkably intact (despite the fact that we're still years behind schedule on the whole flying-car thing). Even though auto manufacturers should be clamoring to get Mead to design their SUVs, for now, his fans will have to be happy pushing this 1/64th-scale limousine around their desk (or any Hot Wheels-compatible surface).

above text was accompanied by a fab, mead-esque shot of the 400
jt & i have been in touch w/the professional photographer who took the shot, and she is kindly providing him a complimentary copy of it to post here, so all of you can view it for yourselves! so don't just Sit there- it's standing-o time for talented sanfran photrix aya brackett, she of the discerning "eye-a" & heart-a gold

Well, with a title like Blood, Guts, Bullets & Octane, how can any red-blooded All-American male refuse?

Happy 4th!!!!!

I took my sons to see T3 last night. Sat in the front row center (my preferred place for mega-action flicks). Wow. A good time was had by all.

I won't give a detailed review, since many folks may not have seen it yet. All I will say is it lacks much of the dark, almost film-noir quality of the last two films, that seemed to especially come out of the somber narrations by Sarah Connor (LHamilton). I also wish that EFurlong would've reprised his role as John.

I know it's been said this is the last terminator movie. Simply from an adrenaline-rush standpoint, I'd like to see another one. But, I know it would be a totally different kind of movie, since all the plot dynamics used so far would be irrelevant. The next one would be more like the movie-ized versions of FPS video games. Just another post-apocalyptic sci-fi about grubby remnants of humanity. Only this time they'd be fighting terminators.

Wow it was a great day today. Happy july 4th to all !
There were one or two things made for the Americans here, Champagne was offered to every American people on the Champs-Elysťes avenue and a big lighted Happy july 4th was installed on the Eiffel Tower, very fun !
We'll have to wait a little to see T3 here, I wasn't sure it could be an as good movie as the two others but Swafman seemed to say this is a worthwhile movie. Good.

VT, could you please PM me an e-mail. I've seen many interesting Moebius items but all so different (even on Ebay France). Lots of dedicated rare books and a few portofolios. I prefer to send you the offers, and then you will tell me if you're interested or not (with your maximum price). Thanks.

. . . and for t3 mms to hit toystores? :D

bc3, r2: was gonna refer Photemme Phatale aya to your sites for, respectively, pix of our collecting focus and shots taken during our teas, but they've been down :( hope those invaluable resources are back up soon, be sure & tell us when :)

swaffy: "how can any red-blooded All-American male refuse"
-you don't know how pertinent your choice of phrase happens to be re this flik- but i won't spoil it by going into detail :dead: so you do want this but not the truffaut eh? this ain't some nutty francoboycott on your part izzit? :crazed:;) on that note:
sicq: save me some o that elysee-champ-agne, cuz i think america's recent outrage over france not rolling over & agreeing w/every aspect of our foreign policy was pathetic. lotta people here seemed to think that just cuz america sacrificed 1000s of soldiers liberating france in ww2, france no longer gets to decide right & wrong for itself. lest those people forget (and it seems many conveniently have), if it weren't for france's aid during the usa's birth we wouldn't exist today. but since france-bashing's long been a cheap sport over here america's been waiting for an excuse to make a national orgy out of it. why? not sure, but for some reason t'pol's reply to vulcan ambassador soval's question "what IS humans' fixation with our ears?" comes to mind: "i believe it's envy" (Ent ep "cease fire")
not that france is so pure either of course; their main motive for objecting to the iraq incursion wasn't idealism so much as concern over their business interests there. neither of us is perfect, so i think we should just kiss & make up; and i magnanimously volunteer to start with dark, gamine elodie (http://www.e-zone.pl/lk/foto.php3?src=bouchez/d_04.jpg) what a shame, i epiphanied thursday afternoon while seated at a window-side, mm-laden table taking in the robust grandeur of a typical american city during rush hour (http://www.redliondenverdowntown.com/RestaurantLounge.htm),for our cultures' respective grandeurs to be squandered on counterproductive and just plain dopey squabbles. meanwhile, looking fwd to hearing about more moebfinds :)

but what's likely to be of much more interest to yall is that a worf/martok-esque pal of mine has owed me some $$ for a few years now, but in lieu of paying me off he recently turned over to me virtually All of his trektoy collection, cuz unlike his dax/sirella-esque ex-wife, his new wife ain't a trek fan  so to recoup my $$ i'm parting all of it out. (sorry jt, he told me he had an hms k-bop but it seems he didn't :p ) in accordance with my non-scalpy guidelines (http://www.sirstevesguide.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17869), everything goes for srp (cited below when i know what the srp was) OR LESS! or, in the case of a few select items, a decent trade. beyond that, $212 is what he owed me, which means that so long as i can get Exactly $212 total i don't really care how little Each item goes for :)
because the total yield rather than individual prices are my main concern here i'm gonna take my time fielding offers to see how they fit into a grand total, so if interested in any of this make an offer & we'll see what we can work out :) all items are in fabulous shape and out-of-package but complete unless stated otherwise; for additional details plz make specific inquiries. i still need to equalize the trade darthcarlos & i did awhile back, so he gets preference if he expresses interest :) but anyone may feel free to express interest even in "reserved" items, just in case "reserver" changes mind :) but before jumping on apparent bargains, keep in mind that except in the case of trades you will pay shipping :greedy:
first of all b'jr has long been bugging me to score him a playmates voyager, and one was in the haul so that's his, as well as obsidian, bajfighter and voy shuttle mms. voy's srp was ~$20, and mms were ~$2 each, so subtracting that from target yield leaves $184 the rest need to bring in. he may also be interested in playmates romulan bird-of-prey and transforming future ent-d and boxed, fiberoptic ds9 model (srp $40), but not sure yet.
next: swaffy inquired about a loose strikeforce k-bop for $5 a few months back. one is present, so that's saved for him until he demurs :) target yield is now $179 :)
next: jt has expressed enthusiasm about my previous cheap playmates vehicle scores so he gets 1st dibs on any of these. haul includes defiant, ds9, k-bop, vorcha and insurrection ent-e. latter's captain's yacht is currently MIA but worftok's confident it will turn up eventually. since srp's ~$20 for each of these why don't we start there & negotiate :)
$24-srp hallmark light-up xmas ornaments, boxes included: k-bop (right gun is broke off; piece hasn't yet turned up), voyager, ent-d and rom warbird.
loose mm ships w/stands: 2 ds9s, fed spacedock, isd, rbr, tie-int, atat, ent-b, sep-sauc ent-d, d-7 kbc, reliant, vorcha, original k-bop and 2 gen k-bops :)
loose mms: ent-e, defiant, voy, neghvar, 3-nac ent-d; prefer to trade for other scifi mm ships :)

Sorry VT

For the time being at least my site is DEAD !!!!!.....my ISP killed it.

My credit card transpired and my ISP either didn't send a reminder email or I deleted it along with the 60 or so spams that I recieve per day.

Anyway, when I noticed that I couldn't connet to the net I phoned my ISP and gave them my updated card details and everything was A-OK again - or so I thought.

3 days later, Gary Perry, the chap who makes those resin Trek ships, emailed me to see what was happening with my site.

When I looked at my freespace, Virgin Net, had deleted EVERYTHING - every pic, page, link, etc because of the card expiry (of course, I had not bothered to back anything up on disk).

3 years work down the bloody pan.

Anyway, I will be bringing it back again, but I sm dreading all the photo-taking and up-loading - it will take ages.

Will drop a post when it is up and running again.

PS if anybody knows of a cheep place where I can dump my site, please drop me a line - I don't want my site killed again.

britcit3, didn't realize you were having problems too  :frus:

My old web host went under and someone else took over. The new people said wait to be contacted to be switched over. No contact and one day my webpage was completely gone. I've moved on to Global Internet Solutions (http://gisol.com/) . They have a nice package and their support team is great (and boy do I need it!)

I use Frontpage 2002, though have heard Dreamweaver is better. Using the Frontpage website builder, I'm able to save my entire webpage on my desktop, so when the site went the way of the dodo, at least all my site information was still in tack. I can't even imagine the amount of work to start from scratch, as I have thousands of pics like you britcit3. A couple of webservers back though, I did have to start over and I think it was for the best. Each time I learn a little more, slowly but surely.

BC3 : USE THE ALMIGHTY WAYBACK MACHINE TO DOWNLOAD YOUR PAGES !!!

You will gain lot of time. All the HTML is easily accessible (server is sloooooooow but your pages are here... ouch !). You will have to make a right-click - show image on lots of pics but if you are patient you can save all to your HDD.
Thanks who ??? Thanks Sicqnus ? No ! Thanks R2dee2 who gave me the idea !!!

First rule always save once or even twice your datas. I bought an external 40GO USB HDD to save the sensible datas and prevent any crash on the central HDD (by viruses or trojan horses, worms, etc... even if you are using a firewall, you're not 100% protected, especially with a cable connection wich always allows you the same IP number). I paid approx $150 for it and it's very useful. 20GO HDD is enough to save dozens of websites (approx. $75 for a very good one). You can also save your data on a Zip drive or a Jazz drive (approx. : $150) but the floppys are 100 to 300 MO and very expensives.
Cheapest is to burn a CD-ROM each time you make an update (loss of time, so boring...).

VT, 1. No, my opt-out on the trufflick had nothing to do with the Franco-American political climate. Your observation on our nation's debt to France for their alliance in the American Revolution (without which we'd have lost the rebellion and seen our founding fathers hanged), is most noteworthy. In the same way, many have forgotten it was a German military officer who turned a nearly defeated, ragtag mob of rebels in Valley Forge into a capable army of soldiers who finally managed to stand up to a technically superior British force. (okay, I admit it, had I not watched PBS lately, I couldn't have made that last point ;) ) "Nutty" you suggest? Gee, thankx! ;) :p

2. Yes, I'd like the strike force k-bop. thanks muchly, as always. lemme know how you wanna settle-up, and it shall be done.

BC3, OUCH! I lost my site a while back, too. But mine was a grain of sand compared to your ocean of time and work. For what it's worth, I'm sure your new site will be even better - and that's certainly saying something! Good Luck!

BC3 & R2, sorry to hear about your sites! :(

VT, I want the playmates DS9, LMK what the 411 on this is. All the other mentioned playmates vehicles (Defiant, Vorcha, Ent-E, and KBOP) I have so they can go to the others, though I do need the KBOP's alternate battery hatch, the one not made for the stand... if it actually exists, I can't remember for sure.

Also, if you decide to pass on the Classic Communicator from IPI toys, LMK if it's up for grabs, I might be interested. Is this the one with the audio recording feature as well?

Also interested in the Playmates Klingon Disruptor as well.

ent-e sounds like a good fit for you gsj, esp since if captyacht Does show up i'll be able to lay it on someone else w/out havin an incomplete ent-e leftover :) same goes for defiant since jt already has- i Love its red alert sound  so for now we'll say $20 for defiant and. . . $15 for ent-e??

jt: "this the one with the audio recording feature?"
-is That what that is? i guess that explains what happens when i push that button :stupid: btw if happen to know srp for this and kgun lmk, meanwhile for now how duz a tentative price of $20 sound for ds9? (all parts included)

"KBOP's alternate battery hatch... if it actually exists"

bc3, r2: no hurry, just wanted you to know your webslingins are actually viewed from time to time; not that I'D (http://www.sirstevesguide.com/forums/printthread.php?t=2216&page=2&pp=207) know what it's like to wonder about that ;)

Yeah, 8 seconds of digital recording, high tech at it's finest. :D The IPI communicator/sound recorder/etc. dealy went for $26 when it came out.

I think the Disruptor was $15 when it came out, but I couldn't find any sites to back this up and the Playmates website archive doesn't have MSRP listings, so no price on DS9 either.

swaffy: can you describe or post a pic of the two klingon figs the strikeforce k-bop comes with? cuz as prev. indicated, haul also included a klingon head playset w/13 similar af-style figures, and all 15 were mixed 2gether. i wanna make sure i enclose the right ones :)

jt: as w/all playmates vehicles of this size-type, as i recall ds9's srp was $20 so if that's good enuf for you it's good enuf 4me :) and now that i look, disruptor box has a $10 price tag on it (don't know if that's srp or a discount, but also don't care), so why don't we say that for it? meanwhile worftok confirms that playmates k-bop only came w/the one battery cover that was affixed to stand :p and i've decided my ipi tos comm keychain'll hold me just fine, so why don't we say $15 for the admittedly well-crafted digicalc comm? :)

gsj: just rec'vd prototour but can't recall why you enclosed array proto & prodo since former already toured last time, plz lmk. meanwhile hadn't known what the tomyboba fig was you were referring to, but enclosed box gives me an idea, looking fwd :) thanx in advance but am curious what the occasion was for your obtaining this? i'd never known you to collect figurines. meanwhile i think "wand" that affixes captyacht to ent-e may be bent, but if i didn't already send one along w/yacht back then (can't recall) i can replace w/an xtra one i have around and never use :)

jt's current purch of $45 and gsj's of $35 brings target yield down to $99- over halfway there :) as more stuff is sold each item gets cheaper, to wit: in theory anyone could get All of what's left for $99  but i was thinking, it's unfair to "penalize" those who bit first by not including them in the increasing savings, so how bout this: as target yield gets closer to zero, i'll continue reducing the price on already-claimed items so as to "balance out" the savings between latecomers and firstcomers, whaddyathink? of course this might take me a bit longer to reach the $212 total but i'm in no hurry, and i figured on all this takin a while anyway :)
btw didn't jdah or someone recently xpress interest in a defiant mm? maybe we can arrange somethin :)

no other reason than to keep the collection together :)

i figured it might be nice for everyone to take a gander at the complete jansen line, and in case peoples like jt, didn't have a prodo handy of the array, i enclosed mine just to be sure.

as fer the tomy figures, i really didn't mean to get a whole set of em, (cause as you properlyy deduced, figures ain't really my cappa tea),

anyway, i got em cause i thought there might be a cool space ship enclosed with one of the figures (nothing ventured nothing gained), but alas, none were to be had.

but to tell you the truth, i really do like the figures, as well as the scene dioramas that are included with each one.

anyway, i thought you would like the boba fett one, so's that's why i'm including it with your hawk, when i do eventually get around to sending it to you.

i will send you a pay pal payment (which i can conveniently do since i have some reserve cash in the account thanx to siqcnus's and my recent transaction :) )

so purty soon you will find that you are $35.00 richer and i am pricelessly rewarded with some mighty fine st toy acquisitions!

VT, Trek prices sound good. I'm a bit broke right now, so unless you wanna hang onto that IPI Calcommunicator until I can pay ya for it, I'm gonna have to pass. The $20 DS9 and the $10 Disruptor sound so fantastic to me though that I can't pass, LMK when you need the dough by and how you want it.

And thanks for the info on the Playmates' KBOP, that means I have a complete one! :D Super awesome. In order to free it from its stand, I took the screws out of the battery hatch, now it sits on the stand normally but can also be easily removed.

What condition did the prototour box arrive in? Also, if you can't find the "wand" for the Ent-E, I might be willing to part with mine since I also don't use it. And I thought Jeddah wanted a Playmates Defiant, not an MM version.

small revision to bad math: target yield after bjr's 1st claims was $186, not $184. then after swaffy's k-bop it goes to $181, then after jt's claim it goes to $136, then after gsj's it goes to $101. at any rate, in light of bjr's latest claims (below), i'd say we're closing on the target rapidly indeed :)
report
though i haven't seen flik yet, i scored the Mighty Wind (http://www.sirstevesguide.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19126) soundtrack for $2; if it turns out to be of no interest to me lmk if interested :)
and since no one's yet claimed it, i was thinking that since i still haven't scored hallmark's sub-mm-sized Starfleet Legends 3-pak (def/voy/ent-e), i might reserve above-listed ent-d ornament to trade for it, which seems fair since the 3-pak's srp was about half the ent-d's :) if i can do that trade i'll deduct $6 from the target yield since that's the most i woulda paid for the 3-pack (same as mm prices :) ).
meanwhile got a chance to show b'jr the klingon haul in person, and since no more've of you spoke up he claimed the following in addition to his above dibs- and confirmed a few as well:
hallmark kbop, voy & warbird ornaments
playmates kbop, rombop & transwarping future ent-d
kbop, vorcha & fiberoptic ds9 models
resin disruptor, klingon commbadge & vint stormie fig
if anyone's got any helpful info on how much i should charge him for that load, or for the restayours for that matter, feel free to advise me, all i care is that the final total's $212, no more no less
b'jr was a lil disappointed that i'd decided to reserve jt the ds9 and gsj the defiant but tough tiddie i told him, i already got you one of each so time to spread the wealth, cuz that encourages our netpals to keep us in mind re favors they might do us :) speaking of which, remember you still gotta find me a jl &/or japhotwheel delorean mistah trick :D also still lookin for trek5 ent-a model's mm-size shuttle and, as indicated above, Starfleet Legends hallmark 3-pack :)

jt: "$20 DS9 and the $10 Disruptor sound so fantastic to me though that I can't pass"
-ah, music to daddy's ears

won't be sendin off for awhile anyway, not only for above reasons but cuz when i do i wanna be able to enclose more trekmags issues i've scored since my last pkg to you- and in which i assume you'd be interested :) but first i have to Read them, which won't happen till closer to fall (as with flix, music, cafe choices & mm fashion, i only read certain things at certain times :crazed: ) anyhoo they're Communicators 114, 116 and 120, paramount's trekmag #1 (which i'd prev. sent, albeit w/a few pgs removed) and #7, and starlog ds9 mags #s 9 & 12; i'll enclose all 7 unless you indicate uninterest :)
meanwhile protour parcel arrived a-ok :) but i was thinkin that those ziploc baglets the protos came in are not only annoying but downright hazardous to the protos in the long run, to wit: even the most careful removal & insertion results in unnecessary abrasion against the ziploc lips. which is why, during the last protour, i replaced them with appropriately-sized but unziplocking baggies before sending them on to next recipient. but this time i'd like to get gsj's permission before doing so again; lmk :)

gsj: "thought there might be a cool space ship enclosed"
-what gave you that idea, some typically bad info from bc3? ;) so outta curiosity what are you doin w/the other figs you got? and if you like the dioramas feel free to keep boba's carbo-han, it's prolly just the Costas Mandalorian i'd be interested in :) but what's w/the glue Glerbbled all over your prodo array ? :crazed: wha'hoppen, did junior "masonize" it? kids ;) on related note, b'jr was so grateful to view your latest protos in person he offered to swap you out the best of his 15 medfrigate prodos in trade for the suckyazz, thickly-glurbled-on-paint one you enclosed (i mean, if That was the example by which you judged the prodos No Wonder you & jt take such a dim view of same re how they stack up to the protos (http://www.sirstevesguide.com/forums/showpost.php?p=248726&postcount=68)) :p lmk if interested; his replacement/upgrade may not be as flawless as my Personal copy, but it'd Still be a big improvement over your current blobba crap ;)
plz wait on payment and on sending hawk & tomybob, cuz it might be easier/cheaper to just enclose $$ w/toys (cash, check or mo, i don't care); as swaffy found out last year while palpay-reimbursing me $70 for some such, paypal charged him/us ~$3 for the convenience :frus:

Awesome VT, then since you don't mind holding onto that stuff for a little while until payment can be squirrelled up, I will say "thank you" and take the IPI Calcomm as well.

Playmates KBOP - $20
Playmates Romulan BOP (or Warbird if that's what you mean) also - $20
Transwarping Ent - $15 (I paid $9 for mine on sale though)
DS9 fiberoptic model - $35 (I think, that's what F.O. Ent was IIRC)
IPI Klingon Commbadge - $10 (that's what I paid)
Vinty Stormie - $2

Sorry I don't have a guesstimate on more of B'jr's stuff, but that's $102 right there. Playmates KBOP goes for way too much on the aftermarket, so that right there is gonna be a big score for any Trekkie.

As for the BTTF Hot Wheels Delorean, I haven't been back to where I got mine, but I'll keep checking if you keep reminding me (seriously, I forget a ton of stuff, you gotta remind me of stuff).

More trekmags means more :) for me, though I'm still catching up with the last batch. Perhaps we should set up a library for this stuff. :D

Extra glad the prototour box made it in adequate condition, I had to buy tape to get it as close to GSJ's packaging style as possible and then the tape was sub-par (that's what I get for buying tape named after an ethnic stereotype about a certain people being cheap). I also was skeptical about the ziploc baggies, the openings were too small for my tastes - I'm really glad I didn't try to liberate the proto Array from one. Good idea on the protection, but baggies' openings were too close a fit.

My SWMM produ Medical Frigate is also pretty heinous IIRC so I stand by my prior judgement... though I can't compare it to GSJ's as I've accidentally lost it and several others in the closet when everything got organized. I believe I have all the transforming playsets in there as well, the only one I can find is the variant (first run) Ep 1 Battle Droid w/ packaging and that's because it wasn't in a tub, it was on a shelf. But I've blithered on enough...

i developed that style through numerous oversea packages to brit cit and our other far fllung mm folk. the tape does two things, it keeps the packages water-tight, so's none of that north sea blusterin' makes it through the outter layer, and it strengthens the box so's no matter what size piana they stack on top of it, it's don't blow out the sides. :dead:

as per above-detailed "increasing savings" principle, how bout these adjusted prices:
new swaffy total, $4- subtracted from $212 leaves $208
new jt total, $38- subtracted from $208 leaves $170
new gsj total, $30- subtracted from $170 leaves $140
new vt (trade-value) total, $5- subtracted from $140 leaves $135
new b'jr total, $115- subtracted from $134 leaves $20
so, if the few remaining items below can fetch as little as $20 total i'd say we're set eh? any takers? better say so soon:
playmates light/sound vorcha
playmates figs: 16 loose klingons & dax, unopened khan & 19th-c sailor worf
klingon headset w/13 af-style figs
ep1 cross-section book
also, i can't recall offhand whether b'jr sed he wanted klingon dagger so that may still be available. meanwhile, the only downside to new totals is that they likely render my tart retort below irrelevant:

gsj: "any additional charges levied against either you or me, will be paid by moi"
-you're right, they will :Pirate:

"got any ideas?"
-nope, just curious was all; maybe someone would trade you em for more futuras?

"array is how the sucker arrived factory fresh"

VT, price adjustment works for me. :D I'll take the Playmates Vor'cha at $7 if nobody will pay more. I don't have one but it's never really been one of those ships I had to have, the thinking was that it's not very expensive on the aftermarket and I have plenty of time if I changed my mind about it (which almost came when Thrawn had one at $10, but then I passed).

Nagging is fine. Nag away.

I don't sit and read magazines in a big batch, just a little at a time when I have some free time and nothing else going on. I usually scan the mags when I first receive 'em, check out the pics and such, and organize the loose pages, then put them aside for free time.

Mr. Touch, sorry for the delay in replying. I was out of town the middle of this week. I'm attaching a scan of the KBOP figs. If you can't make them out (fairly crappy scan), the figs are Valkris & Commander Kruge.
Male fig in std. klingon warrior garb - silver/gray vest with bandallero (sp?) and phaser-pistol in left hand. Female (if they say so, I guess?) fig's most distinguishing feature is the rake-looking thing sticking out of her head.

U want $4 via paypal, snail mail, or shall I keep a lookout for something to send you to settle us up?

That posting board got scrapped a few months ago - some people were using less than savory language, so the web site owner binned it.

from VT: anyhoo assuming you don't "make it up to me" with another cost-analysis-oblivious gesture of magnanimity, since there's no hurry as usual you could just enclose $4 along w/VTape shipment postage when you return same to me. on that note if it turns out you dig Blood Guts you may keep it as you did Guffman last year, cuz i got a feeling it wouldn't work too well as a library donation anyway

VT - That'll work!!! Thanks again. Of course, the $4 will have to be augmented with a li'l sumptin' to show appreciation for the 'blood & guts.'

Not happy 'bout the posts in the comic-con thread. I guess that means no one has received their orders from D&S, or seen any of the new AFs in any retail stores?????? My son was supposed to go to comic con, so I'll try to reach him to ask if he saw anything about AF while there.

I'm afraid I'm not up on other trading places for such things, but I do know that such things are somewhat popular items both with Trek and Hallmark collectors.

also for that quarter i got a gun from the rumble transformers cassette in case i'm missing one; in fact seller had a whole lunchbox full of vint transformer accessories (constructicon Devastator parts etc) for $1, but i don't really collect em so i passed :sur:

I am still seeking the Republic Gunship and Darth Maul's Sith Infiltrator. Unless there have been any further releases after the Gunship, I am done as I take it the line is again being canceled.

Jedicole, the gunship is still out there, but you'll have to get typing emails, pick as many online toy stores as you can and be patient, but I assure you, some places do have them.

Oh, and unfortunatly you won't be able to buy the gunship on its own, only as part of the set with the other two ships in the wave.

Whassup? All the Action Fleet dried up in Bozeman mere minutes after they went on clearance *SIGH!*

Ah well- I'll miss 'em. Could have had them all had I seen the Republic Gunship, but I never did. C'est la vie!

I'll be hocking mine soon, here...maybe all in one glop, sans the E-wing, since I already sold it.

Anyway- how goes it otherwise? Anything you need and/or looking for? How's Colorado? Once again, HI! :)

About it for now; I'll drop in again...

Oh yeah- for the record- found all Clone Wars stuff here- from the Command Repub Gunship to the Blue Jedi fighter, to the new wave of Jedi and other figs. I like the new look...but-

Doesn't it seem odd? For years Hasbro deprives us of our army builders, now they are building an entire toy line around it! And a very colorful one at that...

Damn- why couldn't they have done it BEFORE I left collecting? Ah well.

RWAV, eh? (Lady Jane's not bad either, & picard plays her dada :) ) in that case i feel even more confident re some of the flik recommendations i just posted for you :) alas, on a similar note neither would really suit my selection purpose, and i quote (from my response to offer):

and i don't know if this serendiptous incident counts as a baggin, but: while comin or goin from tatcov bookstore the other day, on a countertop right in front of me i spot an mm-sized, 1980 die-cast buckrogers ship just like the one gsj sent me a while back! i killed a bit of time browsing but no one made a move towards it. so then i axed a staffer working nearby if it he knew anything about it. he didn't, so i said i thought it Might be mine since i frequently bring my mms all the time for windowsill deployment at FS upstairs (a dubious assertion at best, since to me it's a fall vehicle so i wouldnt've brought it along since '02) so, if it's ok with him, i'd hang on to it just in case, and leave my email address w/him in case anyone asks about it. ironically, shortly after that i misplace my kazon mothership while chillin on a lounge patio  i thought this might be fate's way of "trading" me my kazmutha for a buckyroj (which wouldn'ta been a bad trade, since i coulda gotta nutha mutha from b'jr). i even covertly searched lounge premises while they were closed, but it turns out lounge bartender was savin it for me all along  so if no one who lost the buckroj emails me (and no one here can make a sufficently compelling case for me to let them have it  ), i'll just let b'jr have it. on second thought, i'll let him have Mine and keep This one for myself since this one's in better shape
in the few minutes it took me to score a coupla figs (http://www.sirstevesguide.com/forums/showpost.php?p=276186&postcount=1156) at k-b they got two calls from people seeking af gunships. i know this cuz i overheard employees, cordless phones tucked under chin, searching thru peg-warming figs right next to me while talking with the caller. how can hasbro be so clueless? :p

Hey GSJ

Was the Playmates Defiant that VT bagged for you included in his package?

If so, is it any good?

I keep trying to bag one on Ebay, but I keep getting beat.

the defiant was indeed in the package (thus adding to the required box's girth  )

it's a fun toy (and make no mistake about this, we're tawkin' toy here, it really isn't a very good display piece for visual appreciation)

it's very plasticy in appearance, lacking in finer detail. (i think the best defiant yet is the furuta one, for display purposes)

there are 4 different sounds that the ship makes (the buttons are presented discreetly, which is an added plus, unlike the ones on the kenner collection series sd, ssd, and blockade runner. jimminy, the buttons stand out on those as though they were the main feature  )

a cool thing about the defiant is that it comes with two seperate bottom hull sections. one which is permanently mounted to the stand (not much flying this thing about with the stand attached :sur: ), a second bottom hull section is included, so that you may disconnect the stand from the ship, slip on the new bottom hull piece, and viola! the ship is able to cavort about with silly stand holes in the base :) !!!!!!!! that is indeed a nifty feature.

the front noseof the ship drops down about 15 degree's or so. a nice feature, but not one that really makes or breaks this ship.

it's a fun toy, prolly along the lines of lets say the hasbro outrider. it's a toy meant to be played with, not studied for accuracy and research.

all in all, if the kid don't want it, dad's glad to add it to his ever growin' non mm fleet

dagNABit!!! I'd written you all about that in the original hump post letter that I accidentally lost a while back. By the time I rewrote that letter, I plumb forgot the part about the mag!

The issue has SO many other items that seem to track with your interests than just the article on the 007 music, it's almost as though they published a custom VT Edition! It will definitely be in the return tape pkg., or I may send it sooner.

it's a fun toy, prolly along the lines of lets say the hasbro outrider. it's a toy meant to be played with, not studied for accuracy and research.WHOA!!! That's a strong statement, Hasbro's Outrider isn't even related to the original design of that ship, the Playmates Defiant at least is pretty true to the source (especially compared to most of their other outings). True, it's lacking fine detail, but it's got the right shapes and basic designs down pretty well IMO. Only thing I couldn't figure out was the stickers that went around the warp nacelle cowlings, I totally screwed those up thanks to confusing instructions.

VT asked something of me here recently, yes? But I'm too lazy to track down what, any shedding of the mysterious "what"?

VT asked something of me here recently, yes? But I'm too lazy to track down what, any shedding of the mysterious "what"?

he had inquired if you were the one responsible for the procurement of the starspeeder 3000's. i answered him that you indeed were the purchaser of said starspeeders. as to the mysterious nature of the request,
you'll need to take that up with him.

i guess comparing the defiant to the outrider wasn't fair, i was only trying to make a point that the defiant was obviously built by playmtaes for playing with, rather than just a display piece.

all the other ships that i have seen, including the ent-e which vt sent as well, seem to be more geared to displaying em, while the defiant has more of a toy feel about it.

of all the 3 3/4" ships that mason has, the only one he plays with on any kind of regular basis, is the outrider. the defiant, for whatever reason, seems to have the same playability feel to it as the outrider.

Does Mason put figures in that pitiful mess Hasbro claims is a cockpit?

I see what you mean about the Defiant being more geared for play, but I'm not sure I see it different from the Ent-E (I have both versions), which have those huge, hideously oversized and misshapen warp pylons and that THICK saucer. I think the Defiant simply being a smaller ship that's more compact is the key to that feeling.

I received an Alpha Naboo Fighter today from a recent ebay auction. It's my first opener of any of the ep-1 alphas.

Cockpit hatch feels like it will break if I force it open, so I'm not opening it.

Paint must've still been wet/tacky when boxed. Small mark from twist tie on the right wing & on the bottom-front just fore of the gun ring.

Still, much more substantial-feeling than most of the ep-2 vehicles, and it has [GASP!] Play Features!!!

Okay, it has one play feature. Twisting nacelles that open & close "pressure manifolds" on the upper fuselage. It would've been cool to see a feature like this for the flaps on the snowspeeders.

Anyway, it displays fairly nicely. Would be nicer if I could get the hatch open & put the pilot in his seat.

Scored for ~$22, including insured shipping from Canada.
Seller = beakerme (aka: Legolady, a.k.a. Jenn Wagner) Good, honest seller. USA or elsewhere, don't hesitate to buy from this Canadian seller.

1 down, 3 to go, for the ep-1 alpha openers!

JediTricks
09-19-2003, 12:48 AM
Don't worry about the cockpit, it won't break*, it just opens oddly, it kinda hinges back while opening which is held back by the flat post that holds it closed. Try to lift the front of the canopy up a little to get the post out, that's the key. The canopy's even connected to the hinge by being popped over a big cylinder at the end of the hinge piece, so it'll probably* pop off instead of breaking if everything else goes wrong. Think of it this way, if it does break, you can just glue it back into place and you're back to where you are now anyway. ;)

Oh, and all 4 Ep 1 Series Alpha have authentic Action Fleet play features, each has landing gear (of course), but also besides the Naboo Fighter, the Royal Starship has rotating turrets and when you open the "cockpit" (the aft section), a glued-in R2-D2 moves around the floor; the Droid Fighter has pull-open engine that opens both canopies and control surfaces that move forward with a single slider; and the Sith Infiltrator has sensor doors in the front that open when you pull the wings out.

*- JT guarantees nothing and takes responsibility for even less, open cockpit at your own risk.

Cool. I'm trying to keep a watch for reasonably-priced openers of all the other EP1 alphas and several other EP1s to fill the holes in my opener collection. Now that I've had it out for a week or two, I'm even more pleased with how the alpha naboo fighter displays. Maybe it's the color that makes it stand-out among the others?

haven't seen girlfight, but remember reading about it in connection with Michelle Rodriguez, the film's lead when she was getting press around the time blue crush & orig. fast/furious came out. she seems to be one of the crop of up 'n comers who can act her way out of a paper bag, unlike too many of the barbie & kens lately.

also, I am going to try to remember to start posting my 'humps' at your ssg humpthread. but that DOESN'T mean I'll be sliding back down the slippery slope into gendisc socio-political discussions (much to the joy of most all regulars to that area, no doubt). even if it WAS possible to effectively post opinions there without running afoul of forum policy, what would be the point? jt, might be interested to know i recently helped babel streamline their australian-accent translator matrix: now all phrases converted to aussie become "eat a choy", and when converted back they all become "cheat an oy" :crazed: but i'm afraid the vt tranny matrix will have to wait cuz next they want me to do their cockney accent matrix; hmm, where's that dick van dyke dvd box set hiding? :D

"wouldn't leave you to fend off VT by yourselves"
-yeeew party pooper :p actually do you realize you're like buckwheat in a show the little rascals put on (http://www.sirstevesguide.com/forums/showpost.php?p=29000&postcount=46)? all you have to do is wander onstage and Our Gang here goes nuts

"let me at least send you $100"
-while i hate to Ever restrain anyone's eagerness to lay dough on me :greedy:, until jdah (ahem aHEM) sends & determines a final total for the items you're getting i can't even be sure you owe me that much. i've got our complete transaction record somewhere, but offhand i can only recall you owing me ~$23 for a buncha $1 singles i scored you at a TRU a couple years back, no?
but if you feel like "paying interest" in the meantime, you can always tell me why you decided against all them protos ;) never really mattered to me either way- especially since, thanx to gsj, i got to see the protoklae for myself after all- but i remain curious. and don't worry about the seller seeing what you say becuz, as i've bluntly speculated here on more than one occasion, now that seller's prospects to make $$ off us dried up he seems to've lost interest in our waterin hole here

gsj, swaffy: re cd who-gets-what quandary (above), let's see what you think of this solution: though i've been holding deee-lite's "dewdrops" for swaffy (due to its use in Party Girl (http://www.sirstevesguide.com/forums/showpost.php?p=32899&postcount=66)), as i recall gsj happens to be more acquainted with deee's previous work, so for that reason i'm more curious about his reaction to this one. meanwhile, several of Opus3's "mind fruit" cuts narrowly missed the cut for swaffy's forthcoming mixtape, which was a shame cuz for some reason i'm also curious about his reaction to them. so if you guys don't mind i'd prefer to send gsj the dewdrops and swaffy the mindfruit, and as thanx to swaffy for letting me change the plan i'll enclose mazzy's 2nd cd. whaddyasay guys?
gsj: that reminds me, listened to any of them sent cd/tapes yet? Reactions? (http://www.sirstevesguide.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11211)

checked suncoast where almost a month ago i scored micronauts galactic defender for 1/2 price ($4.49) cuz receipt was about to xpire and, if they'd undergone an additional, post-holiday discounting, i'd buy again and return the higher-priced one to lock in new savings :greedy: alas, they'd sold out, so good thing i bit when i did  also scored pal a 1/2 rpice hallmark 3po ornament ($7.50) and at a thrift store found an unopened teemto w/grabbing-action spider droid for $1.10 :D b'jr & i both already have one and he would be happy to have another, but first i'll try trading this one (http://www.sirstevesguide.com/forums/showpost.php?p=289971&postcount=16) in case anyone's interested :classic: but since i knew teemto fig'd be hard to trade (and b'jr & i Certainly wouldn't want it :p ), before leaving store i opened pkg & gave him to some kid who'd eyed it as i was grabbed it. not really an x-mas spirit gesture on my part (even if it was dec. 24th), i just hate for anything to go to waste :Pirate:
swaffy: my af sst bug source sez he can only find opened ones- which is curious since he showed me sealed ones just 1-2 years ago  anyhoo lmk whether you'd be interested in any of those (w/max acceptable price) so i know what to do :)
cuz of my long-time camaraderie w/manager jim, i helped 74th & federal comic store move to their new 88th & sheridan digs even tho the owner's a scalper. as a result jim gave me a $5 discount on the just-arrived $15 moeb Icaro book i'd had him order me (thanx to haggie's hedz-up); alas, as i feared moeb just Wrote it while some dime-a-dozen manga hack drew it  MAN am i gettin tired of moeb's Charity Work, lending his starpower name to collaborators who ain't one-Tenth the drawer he is, while tons of His drawing remains untranslated or domestically issued! just Wait till i get around to trashin this thing on amazon.com :dev: oh well, at least i was smart enough to hedge my bets and not order vol. 2 :silly:

sicq: thanx for hedz-up; from the mid-'80s til ~2 years ago moeb's eng-lang translators (r&j-m lofficier) used to maintain a same-named mailorder office/gallery in encino ca, as well as the website starwatcher.org . i maintained a cordial relationship w/them over the years but they typically weren't a reliable source for the kind of things i was after (Made-In-L.A.-type french picture books that weren't re-issued in english), referring me instead to paris bookstores such as the long-defunct Albums :smoker:

S43, I'm afraid I used the wrong terminology. The TAC Fighter is "electronic" but not "remote control". It was a companion piece to Galoob's large, electronic Warrior Bug, I've not seen it in person (the TAC), but the pictures make it look like it's the same scale as the remote control drop ship. I do have the electronic Warrior Bug. The packaging is perhaps twice as large, but identical as far as graphics and shape to the Action Fleet boxes, minus the plastic over the "window" portion of the box, but the words "Action Fleet" do not appear anywhere. Sorry for any confusion.

This is the 15" TAC fighter made for the 3" (ugly) action figures. As you can read on the Toymania article, Galoob had in 97 some financial problems just when these toys came out and they had to focus on SW and later stop the ST franchise.

I've seen the big tac Fighter and the Action Fleet version looks much better IMO, so you might not want to bother getting that one at all. I don;t have the RC Drop Ship loose, so I can;t give any info on the scale comparison I'm sorry to say.

VT, I don't know the methods of your madness (perhaps your old Boba Fett icon told us), but you have consistently found treasures at very reasonable prices.

I waited a couple of days for the forum regulars to grab this gem, but if no one else has claimed it, and you can still obtain it, I can take it off your hands.

BTW, I will be coming to your neck of the woods sometime in the Summer. My brother, a resident of Denver for four years now, has been begging us to visit him and he cannot stop raving about the natural beauty of his SW Denver locale. Perhaps you can tell me a few places you know about where I could score some Star Wars stuff? I'll keep you updated on the trip as it is still in its tentative phase.

"tell me a few places you know about where I could score some"
-shoot, even better maybe we can hit a few of them places ourselves, perhaps on a day that includes aft tea at fed spacedock (during which other local foruMMers might join us? :D) and a custom tour of a few local hidden pleasures- much as the galooBB's rich kreuger & i did when he came from michigan for the sw celebration in '99 :)

"the natural beauty of his SW Denver locale"
-HAH, that's a good one ;) i gather L-Bruddah-C lives in the burbs which imo are, with few exceptions (such as old-town arvada) a flavorless, history-less, soulless (does columbine ring a bell for yall? :dead: ), white-flight-fueled urban sprawl hardly deserving of a word like "beauty" :p thankfully, much of Denver Proper- within whose city limits i typically prefer to remain (except during post-cabin-fever, spring-hunt-season forays)- is another matter, with a lively density, big ol trees, set-back sidewalks and an architectural vernacular more varied than just concrete bunkers, asphalt acres & pressed-board house-boxes that get Worse with age :)

finally, a few discreet "coded" prelaunch messages for those to whom i may shortly mail:

Thanks VT, for snagging that R2-B1. I scanned over your list of wants and I do have a carded R-3PO, if you should happen to desire it. We can do a straight up trade for that, or if you want me to tack the price of the R-3PO off the balance of R2-B1, we could do that since he was considerably less than $7.50.

My brother lives in the SW part of Denver. I beleive our phone records show that it is Evanston (?) CO, while he claims it is still Denver because his mailing address is Denver. I have never been there but he raves about the land. He is near the foothills of the Rockies and he is a ski nut. And he loves venturing in the city, even he is a raised suburbanite.

Hanging out while I am Denver sounds like a cool idea. The hard part is finding a suitable date for our family to visit, since we have business owners in the family, and finding the time to leave is not as easy as they would like. It might just be my younger brother and I who go to Denver to visit. Some time in the Summer is our plan.

Anyway, on the legendary Bounty Hunter front, the Target here has all of the Animated Clone figures...anyone actually collecting these?

Our Target also has the LOTR figs in their new plain bubble packaging- which looks like ***, IMHO.

I also saw the General Riekaan set, too- it's kinda' nifty.

In lots of ways, I am gla dI got out of collecting when I did because damn- with the Star Tours figs, the chrome exclusives, all the different package variants (Clone Wars, Saga, Gold Bar, etc.) it'd be murder on the pocketbook to be collecting right now...

Heldensagen vom Kosmosinesef is a Japanese anime manga saga. The title has been translated in English as "Legend of Galactic Heroes". LGH is a long running book, anime, and OVA series in Japan, telling the story of a future interstellar conflict.
The series features stirring space battles where thousands of warships maneuver against each other in huge formations to the sounds of classical music.

In the same way you can appreciate the two other popular series : Maschinen Krieger (also called "SF3D") with armies of warriors in armors and futuristic war machines and the recent Supersylph Yukikaze with futuristic jet airplanes.

VT, I'm in need of your bounty hunting expertise. For Christmas '02, I received a portable CD player with an adapter that went into my vehicle's cassette deck, so I could play the CDs through my car stereo system without installing a real car CD player. It wasn't the best sound, but it was better than no CDs at all. This summer, the cassette adapter started failing, causing my tape deck to toggle fwd/reverse like it does when a tape get to the end, so it can play the other side without having to manually flip over the cassette, except it would do this non-stop, and never play the CD. I priced new replacement adapters, and they're $20+, which is too close to the price of a whole new (albeit cheap-*** low quality) portable CD player with cassette adapter.

If you happen upon one of these adapters during your bounty hunting adventures, and it's $5 or less, would you be willing to snag it for me?

Take care,
Der Swafmeister

Swaffo, you may want to consider checking for dirt & grime in the faux-spools and at the faux-tape end of things, it could be as simple as gummy spools not turning anymore, thus the deck thinks the leader has run out and thinks it's time to flip.

-D'OH, i sent em out like 15 minutes b4 seeing your above message; you Eeeediot, why dincha say you wanted some Sooner, like when i posted notice 3 days ago :ko: oh well, i can still reserve you 2 sacts ($5.04 incl tax), but since they'd be shipping separate from the protour you cover their postage, okeleydokelyhomely? :)

lbc: "They'll clearance the heck out of them to make some room for the next batch"
-dang, i was kinda hoping "next batch" (which i'm assuming will include r1g4) would be part of this clearance. anyhoo your postage was $1.04 so total's $8.54, but i assume you're keeping in mind that paypal deducts a service charge for their transfers, no? might be cheaper for you to just mail me a check or cash, but up to you either way, just so long as i get AWL MAH MO-NEH $:greedy:$ that goes for swaffy & jt too so i hope you2're eavesdroppin :Pirate:

swaffy: a 2k email bounced? strange, i've maintained at least 20k spare space of late. anyhoo i'll keep eye an out, but i'd say jt's closer to the diagnostic mark; even tho i've never used a cd adapter, i've personal experience with such a malfunction so i hope the problem's not with your tapedeck; they break down more often cuz their moving parts are vulnerable to a vehicle's constant dust & motion. on that note cuidado if you use a cd car adapter a lot, cuz since it allows the tapedeck's reels to spin without resistance, they seem to get "lazy" so that when they have an actual tape to play they don't take it up with sufficient torque. which means the takeup reel packs too loosely inside the cassette shell, it jams halfway thru and deck eats your tape :Ogre:
cuz he used to use an adapter a lot, i've lost more than 1 mixtape to b'jr's cardeck like this; and btw it's more likely to occur with longer tapes such the 110-minute mix i'm sending!
your loose sf k-bop was $4 and postage was $5.74 but see note to lbc, might be better to just enclose cash when you return VTapes several months from now; also i may be forgetting stuff you might be sending in return, the cost of which might be deducted from your cost! btw plz edit your above post to remove display of my email address; we don't want spam harvester programs to latch onto it eh? :speech:

jt: see note to lbc; roger assaj & 2 sacts, total for all 3 is $7.56 which, added to previous $44, brings your balance to $51.56; then postage was $5.14 so total's $56.70, whaddaBAAAH-gin :chinese: no hurry tho, as jdah knows all Too well

Or should we pitch in and buy you more MSN/Hotmail storage? ;) (J/k, that is the biggest ripoff IMO)

Anyway, thanks again bounty hunter legend VT (sounds like a title of an imported Anime show on CN ;).

VT - The check for $8.54 is in the mail, once I get your physical address.

I will keep an eye  out for an R1-G4. Him and the McQuarrie Stormtrooper have been missing in action around these parts, and from what I gather, many others as well. Will let you know if I come across one.

Nah condition and poses aren't important, I've already got one of each pose carded and then one loose. It's just he's so alone, it ain't easy being the only articulated Clone on the block. He needs some cronies. :D

Lemme know if anyone takes claim to any of those other three before ya get my two Clones ready, perhaps I'll be able to take another Clone or two off your hands. Oh yea, since condition isn't important, maybe for boxing'em up bending the upper part of the card could save on shipping? And I haven't given up on those Japanese Hot Wheels BTTF DeLoreans, though I don't remember signing on to the Johnny Lightning ones (which you can find in your local TRUs still, this time in a box w/ a MM-style minifig of Doc Brown and a plain die cast version of his van). Holy Christmas!
Thanks much, VT.
KBOP arrived safely, if not a bit dust-encrusted, but will clean up nicely.
I really like the figures.

One thing about the ~year-in-the-making nature of such a shipment is that I lost track of our discussions on some of the contents. Like the STTNG Companion book. Looking fwd. to perusing it w/ my son.

I'll be sure to return the Paglia. Nice "Touch", the 2nd Ave. Deli Ted Demme magpic!

2 CDs look interesting. Will prolly take on my twice-weekly road trips for some good alone-time listening (via headphones unless/until I get CD/cassette adapter replaced/working - thanks JT/VT for tips on maybe repairing my adapter. will try your suggestions).

The ol' ball & chain was most entertained by your savvy selection of postage stamps. Me, too, for that matter. Every little nuance is noticed an appreciated at this end.

Thx for the ST cards & keychain, too. Very cool.

Finally, the mmixtape was also found, and in good condition. Will be listening at times when I can devote the level of undivided attention it deserves. Feedback will be done same as last time - without reading what's on the tape, then I'll compare notes.

Did you ever give me a total on this stuff? If so, sorry to ask again. Been working hellacious hours lately, and I'm mega-frazzled.

Thanks again!

already scored you one, $10.47 w/tax; will lyk if/when i get a second :) meanwhile did i enclose, along with the mixtape waybackwhen, a copy of a MAW article i wrote? same page also has my review of Dewdrops cd in case curious :)

"Don't really like that little blaster pistol much, ya know"
-i liked it the first time i got it, when it came w/my clone pilot (even tho i gave it to my tie pilot (http://www.sirstevesguide.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13648)); this time round it's lost some detail so hell with it. will make clonerifle note, don't got a bead on any offhand; was originally gonna trade away mine (that came w/red) but as link indicates i soon found it goes perfect w/my potj ig88 :)

lbc: "with a refreshing drink in tray"

GSJ, I saw a few AT-TEs at KB the other day, poor pathetic KB who didn't pay their bills and has no air conditioning anymore and nearly 1/3rd of the store empty due to no shipments. I believe they were $12 or $10, you know how KB is.

My VT Box also arrived, Vor' Cha dusty but cooler than I thought. Flipped through the Trek cards, the extra goodies, and a few Trek mags, but mostly concentrated on the big stuff... oh, I did drool over the '85 Transformers catalog though, that was awesome. The stamps and VT logo from the stamp cast-of***e was as entertaining as ever. I was surprised to see so many Playmates paperworks for these sets, although extremely surprised when DS9's ops and the deflectors came flying out of the DS9 paperwork - luckily I had just cleaned so it didn't take long to locate 'em. One of my clonetroopers' wrists was locked up and is twisting off which is a busted bummer, but the other is dandy (in spite of his now-loose hip thanks to Hasbro borfing the hip articulation). The Klingon Disruptor is pretty neat, it's going to my collection of toy Trek weaponry for sure. The communicator watch/recorder/calculator is very neat, I haven't stopped playing with it -- however, it has 2 rechargeable batteries inside, do these need to ship these back? DS9 needed to have its batteries purged and its battery contacts scrubbed clean, but once that was done, it was magic time. Great item, screaming loud now that it has new batteries, Playmates really stepped up to the plate here. I took apart the stand and tapped the pin that holds the top on down so it was tight instead of floppy, now I just have to find a place of honor to put this bad boy (if only I had the gumption to hang it from the ceiling). The Micro Ent-D is very nice, I wasn't expecting it to be so detailed. I'm considering giving DS9 a dry paint wash to bring out its nice sculpting, but I have no experience in such things.

Oh, and thanks for the tricorder keychain, but I actually already have one, so should it find its way back to Colorado?

VT, the heads on the SA Clone and Pilot are 100% non-exchangable, so incredibly NOT similar that one might not even guess they were from the same company.

Targets aren't putting R-3PO on clearance, it's an '04 figure like R1 and Luke Hoth. I did find an Imp Dignitary 2 on clearance who ships with R-3PO, but none of its case-mates were clearance level pricing. Weird.

-oh? i'd thought he & louie only worked on "bittersweet lovin"; but then, i ain't scrutinized those particular creds since i wrote that review like 9 years ago (i'll enclose a copy when sending at-te(s)). btw way to notice, esp. without my review to point the way; similarly don't think i didn't notice your intentional inclusion of maw's shirley bassey "light my fire" revamp on the 2nd mmixtape you made, even if you didn't specify same in your track listing (i happened to recognize it from a k-dope instrumental hiphop 12" that uses most of the same aural ingredients) meanwhile i turst buckroj is in same condition as you remember? when i take mms cafe-slummin i always mini-bag the metal ones to protect both them & their box-companion mms from their weightier abrading :)

-that reminds me, now might be a good time to put fsm issue in vtape box for inclusion when you return- that is, if you're done readin it :greedy: it'd make a good companion piece for wot i just bagged below :)

swaffy: "a bit dust-encrusted"
jt: "Vor' Cha dusty"
-yeah, i figure at my prices i needn't bother makin em any cleaner than i got em, and you guys can just endure a sneeze or 2 while lovingly daubin every cranny :silly: (glad to hear they arrived so safe & sound even the Dust was in place ;) )

jt: "saw a few AT-TEs at KB the other day, poor pathetic KB"
-bingo, that's where i sighted too :)

"wrists was locked up and is twisting off/now-loose hip"
-lmk if you'll want a replacement- or, maybe boil&pop would allow you to consolidate the bad features onto one so at least you'll have a single perfect one? or, maybe some army-builder here who wouldn't care about such a defect will graciously trade you for a fully-functional? :)

"Disruptor is pretty neat"
-in that case may also be interested in unpainted/unassambled resin model of same i got in the same haul (http://www.sirstevesguide.com/forums/showpost.php?p=264461&postcount=525); lmk, klingon pal sed it cost him $70 but i'll let you have it real cheep, say $10? :)

"2 rechargeable batteries inside, do these need to ship these back?"
-izZat where they went? ;) thanx for offer to send back, just might take you up on it; like clockwork i lose a pair every year or so :ermm: i wonder if those are this year's- what do they look like?

"already have one, so should it find its way back"
-that's what i get for not axin first ;) maybe, if you don't ship or trade nuthin to a fellow collector who might want anytime soon; as always no hurry w/send-backs, waiting to consolidate w/as many other items as possible's fine :)

"heads on the SA Clone and Pilot are 100% non-exchangable"
-in current config, yes; but if i hollowed out pilot's head to match sa neck ball-joint. . .

"Targets aren't putting R-3PO on clearance, it's an '04 figure like R1"
-yeah, same on this end; bagged a $5 r1 just i case i won't be able to finagle a better deal for either. however i did return sale-price carkoon boba (since no one here wanted it- post 647 above) using the receipt for an r3 i paid $5 for and that worked fine, in effect scoring me a sale-price r3po :dev: i might try the same deviousness for r1 w/crappy flightr2  and didn't i just get done saying i hate collection redundancy? found the new bar2 at the same time and was annoyed to find it was so well done i Had to bag it as well  still thinkin it over but if i decide to keep, anyone wanna trade me for its drinktray? i wouldn't be wantin that, but i would keep the sodagun comin outta his dome :p in related news:

Do you remember how much the AT-TEs actually were at KB?

Replacement would be much appreciated if possible, I have had no luck with boil & pop, and anyway on this figure the wrist would probably simply soften and break totally off if I put it in hot water. I've tried to trade with an army builder, but no go apparently.

I don't generally mind the dust, it adds character to these ships, but I probably should start over with my own dust. ;)

I appreciate the generous offer on the resin kit, that is a good price, but I have no experience with such things and don't paint, so I'll pass.

The rechargeables are gray AAAs, I'll be glad to set 'em aside and send 'em back to ya even if they aren't yours really, least I could do. :D

Interesting idea on the Pilot Trooper's head, I'd be very interested to learn how that turns out.

BTW, I'd be more than happy to buy that $5 R1-G4 off ya for full price if you find a better price, I desparately want that figure. Besides him, it's just Concept Stormy and my 2003 year is good... except that last night, I lost my friggin Luke Jabba's Palace gun accessory, and so I need another Luke too. :( (I'm way nuts about losing accessories too, I tore my room apart yesterday and today to no avail). Is the drink tray straight or bent like most of the others? If it's straight, I might be interested, mine is not lining up all that great (though I've seen WAY worse lately).

Is that OHMSS score expanded to include what's actually in the film or expanded beyond what's in the film? Except for that Louis Armstrong tune that's badly out of place, I think OHMSS has a very good 007 score.

If you are looking for a few dirt cheap Saga Figures that I can hook you up with, check out this post http://www.sirstevesguide.com/forums/showthread.php?p=304867#post304867 or your local Dollar General.

They are all Deluxe and cost only $2. There might not be many in the lot, but I have to highly recommend the rarely sighted Clone Trooper with Speeder Bike, and/or the C-3PO Battle Droid Factory, Geonosian Warrior with Hive & Gun and Deluxe Yoda with Super Battle Droid. There are others around as well including Mace with Red BD, FF Ani & Obi. LMK if you would like one, and I would gladly drive the 1/2 mile to Dollar General

yeah, OHMSS is one of his best; hope satch didn't hear u, that was his last recording b4 death :death: it's expanded in the sense that when album was released in '69 lp format could only hold ~40min. of the ~80 minute score. that lp-length album had been cd-rereleased years ago but last year Film Score Monthly spearheaded full-score versions of several bondscores, including this one

VT, paying attention costs too much! :D

Thanks for the offer on the drink tray, but mine is slightly bent so I don't need another one in equal condition. For some reason, this material does NOT want to go back to its original form, no matter what I do it just warps away all willy-nilly. In fact, looking at it right now, it seems as if the warping has actually gotten worse just sitting on the figure. If that proves to be true, then the towel on this one will have been officially thrown.

what about b&p'ing the other's hip? :) or, a fourth idea: exchanging it at any store that happens to have a full-price fig you seek like r1, meanwhile i'll prolly have one left for a replacement :)I don't wanna boil & pop the hips, the only time I've ever tried that it snapped the crotch in 2 and then replacement was loose anyway. Cutting my losses on the hip issue is apparently the way I'll end up going. I wish I could find R1 or the Concept Trooper full price, even paying a little MORE than full price for those 2 would be totally acceptable at this point (which should tell you how miserably desparate I am), but alas, there are almost none in this area right now and those that are spotted are found while I'm sleeping (and never on the same day, it seems).

i'll keep eye out but give it time, gun'll prolly turnip Unfortunately, there is no chance of that now, I have combed the carpet, sifted through every single thing in here. So either it was vacuumed up or fell out in the TRU bag which has been long since thrown away. Appreciate the eyeball-outing, I'll be sure to let you know if I find one first.

R-3PO is a good figure, but far from a great one. Perhaps you've read my lengthy review (http://www.sirstevesguide.com/forums/showthread.php?p=301648&postcount=6) of such? In any case, I think it's easy to be ambivalent about that figure, especially with it showing up so much around here lately - it's nice to have more SW droids, but do they have to be so unimproved over previous versions AND have few accessories?

hope satch didn't hear u, that was his last recording b4 death Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad song, but it could scarcely be in a less appropriate movie. It'd be like having Metallica score Terms of Endearment (which is likely the only way they'll get me to see that film again).

I'm surprised to hear the expanded score is 80 minutes, the film is so darn long that I thought the score could have run easily 100 or more (though I suppose they did reuse several key cues a few times which might fill that space).

Lama would be retail price. I saw him (damn' Kaminoans with their unisex looks) two weeks ago at Media Play, and since that store rarely moves it's SW merchandise unless there's a clearance, I gather it would still be there. I also have a gift card from that store, so the cost would be minimal. LMK if you want it, or you want me to set my scopes on something else.

BTW, if you have only one McQuarrie to give away, give it to JT. There's a few stores in my area that have been devoid of figures for a few months, and hopefully when their shipment arrives, he should be included with them.

jt: "surprised to hear the expanded score is 80 minutes"
-a not uncommon impression re filmscores: sydney pollack sed about his Out Of Africa that its score only Seemed longer than the 35 minutes of music jb wrote for that one, cuz of its expansive sound & dominant role in the film (when hiring jb sp told him "everything's gonna depend on your score; if it ain't dynamite this picture's gonna tank"; of course i didn't much like the OOA score Or the film :p ).

"damn' Kaminoans with their unisex looks"
-the word is "androgynous" cuz from what i've read they're intended as the ectomorphic fashion models of the sw universe- complete w/disdain for physical imperfections :evil:IIRC, the Kaminoans were actually supposed to be asexual characters (which would explain why they'd eventually evolve to becoming cloning experts) and both the voices for Lama Su & Taun We were originally modified to be at the same pitch so they'd sound both alien and asexual, but Lucas apparently didn't like how the modified voices sounded and had them go back to genders.

jt: "surprised to hear the expanded score is 80 minutes"
-a not uncommon impression re filmscores: sydney pollack sed about his Out Of Africa that its score only Seemed longer than the 35 minutes of music jb wrote for that one, cuz of its expansive sound & dominant role in the film .Yeah, that's probably the case. And 80 minutes is about half the film's run anyway.

(when hiring jb sp told him "everything's gonna depend on your score; if it ain't dynamite this picture's gonna tank"; of course i didn't much like the OOA score Or the film :p )but you at least saw it, I can't say the same (and won't ;). I didn't even know John Barry wrote the film's music.

"could scarcely be in a less appropriate movie"
-(or score) i used to feel that way, but guess i've long since gotten used to itI'm used to it while watching the film, though it is strange to hear Barry weave it into his score in a few different cues, but outside of viewing the film, it feels about as appropriate as porno music in 2001: A Space Odyssey.

"AND have few accessories"
-i'm giving r-3 bd backpack from dlx 3po, since it's about the same color; maybe i got the idea from k3po? :crazed:What's R-3PO going to do with it? He doesn't have a hole in his back unlike his Dlx C-3PO cousin. I do like the color coordination here though (and you know how much I don't usually play that game ;)).

also, "don't knock trash, it provides too" -derelict hitman from Amores Perros (http://imdb.com/title/tt0245712/quotes) :Pirate: How perfectly interesting you should recall that quote to me after how I found my Luke ROTJ gun accessory (http://www.sirstevesguide.com/forums/showpost.php?p=305280&postcount=3276).

i appreciate your patience in resolving our deal. i thought i was doin jdah a favor by waiting for jdah to send to you so jdah could consolidate your debt thru me, thereby only having to convert currency once. but since we've gotten zero indication of conscientiousness to this matter from that end, to expedite things why don't i just forget about being nice and keep your debt separate from jdah's as i should've all along.
according to my records i'd gotten you eleven aussiebraids- two at $9.71 and nine at $10.666. also 2 misc singlepax purchases of $8.31 and $11.48, and shipping of $2.60. 9 x $10.666= $96, and 2 x $9.71 = $19.42 which brings your total to:
$96+
$19.42+
$11.48+
$08.31+
$02.60
=$137.81, payable at your convenience :)
in light of your recollection that it was actually eighteen braids, lmk if you have any records that support that or any other amounts not indicated above. otherwise we can just chalk up those "xtra 7" to bad record-keeping on my part & i'll take the "loss" ;)

jt: "actually supposed to be asexual"
-yeah ok, but to further nitpick my fash explanation, "unisex" has a distinct ready-to-wear vibe while "androgynous" just screams haute couture (aka kamino hauteur?)- an assertion i will now punctuate with the conveniently-provided Isaac Mizrahi Icon: :rambo: ;)

jt: "you know how much I don't usually play that game"
-not quite sure what you mean; that you're "antifashion"? ;)

"What's R-3PO going to do with it? He doesn't have a hole in his back"
-as the tales of the precision standholes i've put in the undersides of would-be mms like the betty, captyacht, fettpacks, snapfasts, b5 figure ships, q5's holo ds, id4 aa, hallmark droid control ship, rolled-up droidekas and de-carriaged pod racers (as well as the feet of pitdroids & sa clones) should make clear, if it's one thing i've a gift for it's drillin  which'll give him 3 options: backpackin, holding it phaser-style by the post or grasping it tricorder-style by the slot meant to hold a bd's gun :)

"you at least saw it"
-actually i just kinda half-watched it, so if i also half-watch I Dreamed Of Africa i think that's the same as seeing them both :p isak dinesen was actually a fascinating dame from what i gather, but i remain skeptical towards flix afflicted with Dances With Wolves syndrome (http://www.sirstevesguide.com/forums/showpost.php?p=279374&postcount=220) :p

"used to it while watching the film"
-as with most flix jb scored, it's been a long time since i took any interest in bondflix aside from their music :p

"appropriate as porno music in 2001"
-flikmath: 2001 + porn music = Clockwork Orange :cheeky: "GIMME THAT WA-WA, CARL!" -johnny stash to his 70s-styled guitarist, some cheech & chong album

"How perfectly interesting you should recall that quote"
-yeah eerie, ain't it - i'm sure it's just coincidink :Par: what's so special bout that lukegun anyway, a fig-collecting waiter at fs made a point of mentioning it to me as well  i've told him bout this place but he considers rebscum more authoritative- if only he knew, eh jt? :Pirate:

So "androgynous" is exotic like David Bowie, while "unisex" is like a bland early '60s barbershop, yes? Let's put that in a totally different metaphor, "androgynous" is Evian while "unisex" is tap water, oui?

I am not antifashion, I'm just rarely given to discussions of colorscheming, especially here. :D

I like the idea of R-3PO using the backpack as a sensor pack, it even ties into the idea of the Rebels recycling old equipment like Y-wings.

Johnny Stash is from track 7 "Black Lassie (A Great American Dog)" of Cheech & Chong's "Wedding Album". The track is the middle of a 3-parter, tracks 6 and 8 bookend it with Horendo Revolver (a classic "Geraldo Rivera" pardoy) doing an expose on the music industry by interviewing producer Nemo Tracks for "Wake Up America" (which also is the title to tracks 6 and 8). An interesting quote to use following up a great comment about ACO. :D

Then I hope you didn't tip said waiter very well. :greedy: It's a nice accessory, it's accurate and well-painted and new and hard to get.

"'androgynous' is Evian while 'unisex' is tap water?"
-if so, unisex for me every time; i can't Believe people actually waste $$ on bottled water  run the shower a bit to warm it up? then i say just use That water to fill bottles which can be drunk from all day. (letting it sit for 1-2 days takes the edge off that chlorine taste.) like the local watercompany slogan sed, "it's a drought, do somethin" :)

"'androgynous' is exotic like David Bowie, while 'unisex' is. . ."

No, I'd say $6 is at best an OK price, but I paid $10 each for mine so it's a "better" price. Since there is no actual market for these, they're Japanese imports, $6 ain't shabby. I'll see if I can track down a JL one that isn't dusty still since I have yet to find my extra JL one since I first mentioned it existed.

I buy Trader Joes bottled water 1.5 liters, like a case a week (they're the same exact water and bottle as 1.5 liter Crystal Geyser, but with the TJ brand name and lower price). Tap water here in LA usually smells funny and tastes awful, and about once every 6 months it becomes undrinkable for a few days. And then there's the whole issue of all the aerospace around here contaminating the drinking supply, but if you're going to worry about little stuff like that, then you can't eat local-grown LETTUCE!!! Yeesh. Also, reusing bottles without thorough sterilization can grow wee creatures inside in as little as 5 days.

Er... not sure what to make of that Courtney Love comment, she's just a freaky junky, not unisex. ;) kd lang, she's unisex to David Bowie's androgynous. :D

"once every 6 months it becomes undrinkable"
-picky picky :p a decade ago denver water was Perfect outta the tap but no use my crying that it ain't no more, so i just adapteded :)

"reusing bottles without thorough sterilization can grow wee creatures"
-i've heard that but ain't had no problems, so somethin must be workin; i'd guess the every-coupla-days new chlorine infusion does the trick- along with the uv-heavy mile-hi sunlight perhaps :)

"not sure what to make of that Courtney Love comment"
-see, neither she nor her flannel-boyfriend ever had enuf style to qualify as androg, so when they swap clothes what does that leave :p

"kd lang, she's unisex"
-she killed when first saw her on snl over a decade ago, but ain't really caught my notice since consigning herself to cult-lesboghetto followings :p

Water: In the 10 years since I've gotten back from my year-long banishment to Phoenix, the smell and taste of local tapwater (from here to Santa Monica, which covers a lot of different water supplies in a 15 mile distance) has become massively unpleasant to me, so it was either bottled or filtered and I am not a fan of filtered.

The wee creatures can be fairly unnoticable or can end up making you sick, it's somewhat random I guess. My grandma found out about these when she started belching more from ingesting the wee folk that came from reusing the bottles, that one was really odd.

kd lang really impressed me on the Tomorrow Never Dies soundtrack, she's a hell of a singer with terrible promotion/management I guess.

meaning you already got 2? why'd you buy 2 more then, cuz i'd only want one jpn hw No, I only have 1 jpn hw delorean, but I also bought a jpn hw Knight Rider KITT at that time. Humans and Vulcans of the jury, you see before you an innocent man of modest means. With the limited time available to him after work and family responsibilities, an even more limited budget, plus an almost total absence of cultural diversity in the Skoal chewin' t'baccee & Busch beer-swillin' berg in which he resides, he would surely never be able to locate these books - let alone for below cover price.

Still, Swafman keeps with him always (in his well-worn wallet) the lists of "wants" from his bounty-hunting comrades*, in the hope that he will some day come across these items and in some small way attempt to return the many generous favors they've done for him.

Swafman: from the ancient Aramaic word "Swafficus", meaning to grovel shamelessly.

No hurry at all on anything. I'm currently reading a 600+ page, ~4-point font book. I'll not be ready for another book for a while - in fact, I may well go blind reading this one. Heavy, but interesting as hell. You may as well hold them until we have other dealings to ship.

Speaking of ships (sort of), I took your advice and checked out my local KayBee. Scored another SWAF AT-TE. 25%-off sale was over, but still got one. Also found that our KayBee will not be closing. Hopefully, they'll get a lot of unsold stock from the KayBees that do close, and mark it way down.

Your memory is keen as ever, my green-blooded friend. Your Trials & Tribble-ations book is already in the VTapes box, along with the other items going back to you (eventually.... I hope I'm not taking too long on the flix). You're most certainly right about the Unimatrix Zero book, but I still keep looking whenever I see SW novels.

I couldn't find the Micronauts 1970's astro station, but I did score you a couple Micronauts this weekend that were 75% off at Suncoast. Happy Birthday, Earth Day, Mirth Day, or whatever you like. They're just a small token of thanks for the last "care package".

I'm WAY far behind on filling-in the missing openers from my Action Fleet collection, so I need to start paying better attention to eBay & maybe finding other sources for them. I still have to find quite a few EP-1 ships, especially. If you come across any, please let me know.

yeah, '04s are the only atomix i've sighted at targs here too. still got hope tho :)
in police limo repaint's defense, it shifts to a cool, almost-violet color when viewed in window-filtered sunlight, so i recommend for anyone who didn't bag the original paintjob  Hope has paid off, I picked you up a set on Wednesday, as well as one for myself at that price. All the new ships are pretty nice work, maybe not quite as nice as the old Space lines, but nice and futuristic. The 5th ship in the set is just a regular speedboat rehashed from the '02 line, it's pretty poor work - not futuristic, only painted to match the others in this set, ugly motors out the back and fat with a flat bottom containing 3 wheels. I seem to be most drawn to the chopper and the trike (which has a movable gun), though the future boat and Tron-tank are ok too. Oh, and Hasbro has put out a new military MM set with some of the older futuristic MMs in it alongside some of the current-day junk, all camo, and the manufacturing didn't look all that impressive (like cheap remolding and crap painting) and there's no mention of the set on the cardbacks from this wave, so you'll have to look for it in person.

Oh, and the Meadmobile in police duds is now shipping in some multi-lingual-boxed HW playset along with another car and 2 or 3 minifigs.

Galactic defender (black) & Repto (clear). They had them both in maybe three or four colors, but these were the only ones that looked cool (IMO). They did have the blue tron-2 dude (bradley?) and a mottled dark & highlighter-yellow guy (thorn?) who looked curiously like Ben Grimm as The Thing. If I get back to mall any time soon, I'll check for the blue one if you want it.

The book is The Sword and the Shield: The Mitrokhin Archive and the Secret History of the KGB (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0465003125/qid=1078021496/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/104-7565051-4775118?v=glance&s=books). 70f and clear 2day so completed my annual southeast quadrant sweep this aft :) alas, an arid land it's become, i only found 5 soundtrack cds for $6: Twin Peaks Fire Walk (so now i don't need my cassette of this), horner's Aliens dlx edition (ditto this cassette, but when's the last time i've listened to this music anyway? oh yeah, i remember, since i last viewed Any Action/Suspense Trailer Hollywood's Turned Out Over The Last 15 Years :p), howie shore's Crash (ditto my promo cd of this), The Moderns and lalo schifrin's Cincinnati Kid. also saw dozens of $1 griMACEs at a goodwill, incl. one some kid stole the purple saberblade from- so since he was already incomplete, i helped myself to the saber handle  maybe i'll give it to my research droid (sp4's head on jn66's body; i use jn66's head as a hovercam a la senate droids), and wait till i find a kit fisto saber for my fx7 to hold in his injector arm :)
finally, sighted an acklay battle obiwan for $4 (he's htf right? i don't recall seeing hm b4), say so soon if want, i'll likely make only one return swing thru that quadrant til next spring; and last chance for anyone here to claim abovementioned $5.50 o-o-p fx7, otherwise bjr's already said he'll be happy to have a second one-

I would say that the detail is very good, but on a different style level, so it's a little hard to gauge. It's got electronics, so it's been a little compromised, but it's good work. I'll try get them together if I can tomorrow and be able to judge better.

Acklay Obi-Wan was not HTF (least so of any early '03 figs) and is this because he's a crappy figure.

How come that Aliens cue is so commonly used in trailers? I mean, it's good and I believe it's "borrowed" from ST2, but how are so many trailers able to use that music which isn't even in their films? Was it sold to public domain or something?

VT, I have been trying to E-mail your hotmail address but have given up hope of reaching you.

I still owe you a debt roughly $8.35 (I'll have to double check the exact amount) of which I can Paypal you once I am provided of your Paypal account screenname.

You had some qualms regarding fees and stuff that they may charge, but it is my understanding that they only tack on fees to transactions involving mucho dinero and if you make 5 or more in a month.

You might still have a Durge for me, and if that is the case, tack it on the bill and add shipping.

BTW, I might be able to snag Jabba's court denizens from Target late this week, for anyone interested. It features the highly articulated B'Omarr Monk figure. Let me know if you would like it and I can give it to you for cost plus shipping. :)

sightings, say so soon if interest: $5 potj bespin guard, $6 full-color ds9 tech manual, $5 b5 franklin fig w/brown science-ship 'mm' (http://freespace.virgin.net/james.hobson/b5.htm), $15 12"-scale loose r2-a6 (the green one) and an $8 TPM complete score (used, but that's still a good price).

a $2 thrift-store baggie w/SW "galactic battle" electronic Battleship-type game that came w/several detailed miniships that are not unlike unpainted, half-size mms; not bad :) b'jr saw these & wants em all, but in case any interest here, there's 1 xwing, 2 awings, 1 ywing, 2 reb transports, 2 tie-bs, 2 isds and 2 tiefighters (tho both are purty bent up) :) alas no moncal cruiser as pictured in directions, woulda liked to see how that turned out.
also at thrift store: for $1 each, five 5-packs of circa 1988 mms: three (two sets still carded, one w/card missing) of "#6 aircraft I collection" containing sr71, p-51, 747 w/shuttle, corsair and f-4 phantom; and two (one carded, one w/card missing) of "#13 aircraft III collection", containing b-1 bomber, tf-18, stealth, gruman x-29a and concord. i know b'jr would want all these for their stealthy planes, shuttle-747s and grumans (and maybe trade away certain others) but due to their complete and often carded condition i thought i'd first make sure no one here wants them :)
at targ: 2 hotwheel "future force" 5-paks for the $2.49 sale price, but we'll still take the one you got me jt- bjr's decided he wants as many as we can find (which isn't many apparently :sur: ) tank's clearly a Tron homage with its black/red scheme and offset, chevron-cross-sectioned barrel; and you're right about the copter, i'll prolly end up keepin it :)
vids for library donation/VTape club, $2 each: Wigstock (to replace the previous one i'd donated some homophobe pilfered :p ) and promo copy of High Art (tho i recall you've seen this swaffy so wouldn't send along).
at suncoast: another $3.24 tron2.0 chik for b'jr (thanx again for 2.0dude swaffy, they're all gone round here) :)
books 4me: Once Upon A Galaxy- A Journal Of The Making Of ESB for $1.35, and marshall macluhan's The Medium Is The Massage, $1.25

...now there's a thought..... Victoria is ma soeur. We're in a rather Burtonesque (Tim, not Richard) hip hop club in Manchester in that photo...

The date for her wedding is set for Feb 27 2005 and then she and her betrothed are moving to Australia for 18 months. When she visits me after my move to the States, I'll bring her on a domestic flight to Denver. May take a while for me to gather funds for that particular jolly seeing as I want to live in ATL or Chi.

One further obstacle....my dear friend Yassir has offered me 25 camels for her so you're up against that kinda offer.

Speaking of magazines - do you know of an online source to locate very old magazines? You remember sending me that exellent magazine with you last shipment, with the Close Encounters SFX article? The pages that are missing are what I really want to see and want to locate another copy to pick up. Any ideas? I've tried ABEbooks but they don't have anything like that - the various vintage magazine shops here don't seem to go back further than five or six years...

at a scalper shop i found a galoob diecast tiebomber on a beat-up card for $5, a defiant/jemhadar/saratoga 3-pak for $15 and a spacedockshuttle/farragut/hms bounty 3-pack for $15 :D got him to take $28 for all 3 ($30 total with tax; one thing i love about mms, scalpers Rarely know what they got- he had Common 3-pax Also priced $15  ). so here's how i propose we distribute the savings, lmk how it sounds:
$14 for loose hms bounty for jt (that way we still come in under your $15 target max from last year, eh? btw scalper sez he's got a few higher-priced stmms so in case he's got kaztorp/array lmk your max for those :) )
$5 for dc tie-b so whoever here wants at least saves on tax (and if no one does i know b'jr will); priority to first claimer and, for sake of effeciency, whoever's already receiving a pkg from me :)
$11 for jemh, sarat, farrag, defiant & sds- b'jr gets these unless someone can make a Compelling case why they should get :Pirate:
all of which gets me my $30 back :greedy: in other news:
cds for me: $.50 each for squeeze's East Side Story and hector zazou & sandy dillon's 12 (Las Vegas Is Cursed); for $1 each, dj danny tenaglia's double-disc Choice: A Collection Of Classics and a less scratched Being John Malkovich score (so no longer need my old one); and for $2 each bryan ferry's Mamouna maxi-single and American Splendor soundtrack (tho still haven't seen) :)
for VTape club: a second copy of Venice/Venice for $.50 (in case someone wants to join swaffy in the club), and Career Girls (http://forums.sirstevesguide.com/showpost.php?p=23747&postcount=1) for $2 :)
sighted: nm copy of syd mead's Sentinel II book for $25 (http://www.sydmead.com/v/01/bookstore/viewer/sentinel-ii.html) (half original price which is typical for used books, but then one doesn't often find this one used), plus klae/miradorn/bajfighter 3-pak for $15 at same scalper, lmk soon if interest

VT-- you've found a happy home for the Tie Bomber, right over here, if no one else has claimed it yet.

Tack it on to the package that will include the Sketchy. I will Paypal you the total cost plus shipping, as well as the $8.5odd cents I owe you for R2-B1. (I have to check my records for the exact amount) Send it whenever you can. LMK if you need my address or anything else.

Do you also have an updated list of wants? I need to double check that to see if I can hook you up with anything.

How do you find these items? I go on hunts and the last MM/AF piece I found was a Toyfare Dagobah X-Wing at a fleamarket over two years ago. People around here I guess appreciate their valuables so much that they cannot part with them.

SWAFFY, check your PM for some updated information. The B-Wing is on route to PA.

LBC - check your PM, and thanks much!

VT - I've been viewing the VTapes, and listened to some of one side of the audiotape, so I'm definitely making progress. So far, two of the flix have received the elusive "two thumbs-up", being highly enjoyed by me as well as the ol' ball-and-chain. This batch of indies has several which are similar in a very general way, while also being unique stories. It's almost like I'm starting to recognize the indie-formula.

I agree with LBC about how surprising it is how you find these MM/AF/DCs in scalperstores, etc. I've only found one place ever that re-sold old MMs, and he only had a couple.

HMS at $14 - yay! Thanks, sounds acceptable. :)

Scalper's other wares that'll be overpriced - nay! Thanks, sounds unacceptable. ;) I'm not going to go very high on the Kaztorp, at most $7, and the Array is off my radar at any price now due to lack of funds plus lack of enthusiasm.

If nobody else here wants R1, I'll still take him, I know about a dozen people who would be willing to trade for him.

Hey, did you add Gold Leaders chest box to your Hasbro 3.75" accessories wants? I don't have an extra one, but I just found myself one and his chestbox, hose, and belts are all 1 piece and come off without much effort, leaving a few holes in the fig. Nice accessory, I'd tout it higher than the recent TIE Pilot chest box (which is good too, comes off with the hoses that go into the helmet). Seems like you've got this whole miniature SW prop museum going, huh?

BTW, after watching a few eps of DS9 during the marathon on SporkTV (the first network for men who eat at Kentucky Fried Chicken) I gathered up all my Federation STMMs and marveled at their loveliness. A few were less than stellar (pun intended) such as Ent-A, but in general, man do I miss this line!

"I know about a dozen people who would be willing to trade"
-well why ain't you pointed these dozen in the direction of my trade thred (http://forums.sirstevesguide.com/showthread.php?t=23286)?? come On, hook a brutha Up :nerv:

"add Gold Leaders chest box to your Hasbro 3.75" accessories wants?"
-i heard it was detachable; alas, i've yet to see a single box that Isn't all warped :p but tell me, does he look undorky enough when he puts on the helmet, hidin all his That 70's Hair on his big-azz, tholian (http://members.fortunecity.de/neutralzone/Tholian.htm)-shaped head? :silly:

"I'd tout it higher than the recent TIE Pilot chest box"
-not me; i plan to cut the one off my potf version, drill holes in his helm & then plug the saga version into em  then i'll find some 8-year-old sucker to take the remaining saga pilot w/potf chestbox attached (the Worst of both worlds) off my hands

"Seems like you've got this whole miniature SW prop museum going"
-yeah i was just thinkin bout that the other day; even tho eventually every one of them equips one figure or another (i often take my time deciding who gets what), i've concluded this focus of mine is an inevitable result of being an mm fan with not enough collecting outlet for same, to wit: the accessories, while avoiding the excessive organic/anthropomorphic aesthetic (which often turns us ship collectors off figures), have in many cases become as admirably, minutely detailed as mm ships. hell, sometimes these accessories could be Combined into a convincing mm ship

"marathon on SporkTV"
-yeah b'jr mentioned that to me, he taped dozens of the eps (me, i already got all the eps i want, and in desired groupings too- maybe i'll detail same on these forums someday); i was pleasantly surprised to hear that channel gave ds9 such due, i'd've figured they'd only salute white-male-center-seatwelled tos & tng (http://forums.sirstevesguide.com/showthread.php?t=2259&page=2&pp=21) thusly :)

"few were less than stellar such as Ent-A"
-that one was always in my stmm top10; hmm, maybe you got a bad copy? :sur:

ltb: "kinda like having a fleet"
-by that i take it you mean you have xtras of some ships? out of curiosity, which ones & how many of each?

"gonna keep lookin around a bit"
-your choice of course, but given current supply/demand i doubt you could complete your collection as painlessly & efficiently as via a trade i brokered- but i'd be pleasantly surprised to be proven wrong so good luck :)

Because these folks aren't forumites.

The Gold Leader chest box & gear is removable, but I haven't figured out a way to get it off the legs yet, it may require prying the leg articulation apart. And yes, the figure looks way better with the helmet on, that head just doesn't look right without it.

I also really like figure accessories for a similar reasoning, though I don't go out of my way to get 'em without figs unlike your Frugalness. ;)

I think Spike is using the series because they're owned by Viacom so they get it cheap and thus can use it as afternoon filler now that they've played TNG all the way through several times.

I don't think my Ent-A is a bad copy, I think the design has several significant mistakes. Upper section of the saucer has almost no curve, paint is pretty weak, and the lines are too deep (the Reliant shows they could have done better). Side of the saucer has virtually no detail all the way around and doesn't taper in until it's too late (again, look at Reliant to see what they were capable of). The impulse deflection crystal atop the impulse engines lacks subtlety and is too tall; while the impulse engines have no shape in the back, instead just flat and painted big and red (look at engines and cyrstals of Reliant & Saratoga to see it done right). The "neck" connecting the saucer to the engineering hull is fat and rounded in the front and fat and flat in the back, totally wrong. The torpedo launchers lack all shape, instead being just a brick. Main Deflector just a flat surface with blue paint (I could site lots of examples of STMM being better than this). From there, engineering hull is fairly good, not spectacular but good, the warp nacelles are a little thick but good. Unfortunately, then there's another major offense, the nacelle pylons are way too thick, their sculpted details are like for an entire size down or something, and the sections that the nacelles attach to are big rectangles that should be inside the nacelles, not beneath them.

To say the 1701-A MM is a half-baked Micro Machine would not be a stretch, and that's probably is why it ended up a gift-set exclusive (look at Ent-E, it's fairly weak, Future Enterprise was good work, but probably because it was based on an earlier design). Don't compare it to the Defiant, that's very possibly the worst STMM of all, but if you compare it to most other STMMs, I don't see how you can put it anywhere but at the bottom of your list of quality rather than exclusivity.

To clear up the Paypal issue, from what I understand, you can send payment via Paypal for free so long as you back up that payment with a bank account number. However, if someone is paying you through a credit card (the majority of payments), you can only accept it, if you are a member of their premier account. A premier membership is the one where they tack on the fees for receiving a payment. For Paypal they say they offer a free payment service (which is true), yet in reality I'd say at least 80% off Paypal payments are backed up by credit cards, so Paypal scrounges up a percentage on most the transactions carried out. I found that out through my exchange with SWAF.

Needless to say VT, I'll be sending you a check :)

to me reliant's lamo by comparison, it may be more accurate but it just lays there in dullsville :p i even like ent-a's colors better- but of course that's an area galoob often excelled in; compare, say, the hotwheel atomix trike's green/black/silver scheme to mos eisley landspeeder's same. trike's looks like it came right outta the can, while moseis looks like a picky, well-paid galoob colorist took his sweet time tweaking each hue :) speaking of:

I don't think I know one collector who would go in for these accessory trade things of yours really, but I'll try to remember to bring it up in passing. As for what I'd want to get, I hadn't thought that far ahead. I could go the easy route and say "Holo Luke" since he's the only one right now I don't have that I want that's out, but I don't know if I'd really go there, R1 is a "hot" figure right now and while I don't expect to rip anybody off in trade, asking for a figure that's super-new like a fig from the General Madine wave doesn't seem so far off the map. Of course, what I'd like and what I get are 2 different things, as is evident by the stockpile of POTF2 trade bait I never got rid of.

Only you could be so entertained by the sloppy blue paint on the deflector. Isn't the impulse crystal also that blue, yet not as sloppily applied?

"so she's a little thunder-thighed. . . considering her other charms i can live with that"
- what charms? Thick thighs and thick neck do not the Enterprise-A make, though the latter does make the Enterprise-D.

"actually i prefer their depth compared to, say, reliant's, cuz it makes them Pop more. mms aren't simply about accurate translation, they're also about artful translation- taking the format's inherent limits into account and deviating from pure faithfulness when it yields a more, shall we say, Charismatic result"
- No, sorry, I'm not buying this here, maybe on Space Dock or the TOS Enterprise, perhaps, but the Ent-A has a very specific look and those lines ain't it. They're not supposed to pop, they're a secondary design feature of the saucer, they're supposed to give light suggestion of shape, not demand attention away from real features such as the bridge and impulse engines.

"to me reliant's lamo by comparison, it may be more accurate but it just lays there in dullsville i even like ent-a's colors better"
- I'm not talking about the colors, the color scheme on the Reliant was designed several years before the Ent-A, the Reliant's colors were at the very beginning of the Space MM revolution (though I do appreciate that Reliant's paints are neater and less thick). So what makes the Reliant 'dullsville' besides coloring? And after you answer that, beyond giving some vague artsy comments (if you'll pardon my tactless, tasteless, uneducated, paletless wording), what ACTUALLY makes the Ent-A work for you as a STMM (after all, you did say it posts very high among STMMs on your list)?

VT, I wish I could figure out the thing to say that would loosen yer tongue about what criteria got the Ent-A so high on your list, but I'm afraid I'm running aground on this. (ok, we're done with the :Pirate: refs for now)

Lemme ask you this, when you see any model of the movie Enterprise/Ent-A, whether it be a level-3 model or a snapfast model or the MM or the ST3 die cast or the Art Asylum version, does it get a high response from you? Are your opinions on the MM version based heavily on feelings for the movie prop's design, or is it an MM first and foremost?

When you look at your MMs together, does the Saratoga catch your eye perceptively more than the Reliant? Do you notice the 'Toga as much as the Ent-A?

on way there found sun tzu's Art Of War at yardsale for $.25, and once there traded a borg-head water bottle a pal got me in vegas years ago for an applause droid fighter ornament (kinda a less-detailed mm of same but w/the wings separated) :) also traded a 10" dukat fig and an ep2 sticker set two other pals had given me, for another pod race arena (again for the aldar beedo mm; now bjr'll have 2, unless someone here needs) :) but most important for me, i made unexpected headway in my "longshot" accessotrading (http://forums.sirstevesguide.com/showthread.php?t=23286) by trading 3 figs i targ-sale paid $1.25 for each (sa clone, faytonni & factory-flight r2) for the exact accessories i wanted from Six figures: cw fisto's saber, antilles' gun & helm (latter fits & looks Great on my saga reb trooper  ), saga tie's chestbox, saga dengar's backpack & rifle, preview zam's rifle & pistol (waited 2 years for this :) and, of most interest to us mm collectors, wat tambor's holoship since that's the closest we'll get anytime soon to an mm of same eh? :D worked my trade partner (a con dealer) into such trading fever that he let me just Rip the stuff i wanted out of his mint-card packages right there on the dealer room floor while his fellow dealers watched, aghast but unable to tear their eyes away from this 2-way de-commodification; that was fun :D

-worry not, you seem to understand that well-chosen quextions are a key to a successful interrogation- a knack that will serve you well when you "ssg user/fan" interview me

"a level-3 model or a snapfast model or the MM or the ST3 die cast or the Art Asylum version"
-as yet i'm not intimately familiar with any of the non-mm versions you cite, and that fact touches on one of the very reasons i favor mms: getting familiar with mms requires less overall ($$, effort, inflexible display logistics) than the other formats. aside from st3dc which i consider a blaring-white, featureless, needlessly metal version, one drawback they all start off with in my eyes is their size. i do have a few larger ship toys (isd, borg cube & sphere, ds9, vorcha, falcon, tyderium, slave 1, b-wing), but in every case both their acquisitional circumstances were so efficient and their innate charms were attractive enough for me to bother- a litmus test that, for me, mms pass much more dependably than larger-scale toys :)

"is it an MM first and foremost?"
-in light of my above-delineated preference for the mm format, i would say so- good quextion :)

"does the Saratoga catch your eye perceptively more than the Reliant"
-yes, it does, tho it still strikes me as a bit of a missed opportunity (no xwing-style side guns to further set it apart from reliant- or better yet, since it's so similar to reliant, instead galoobb coulda offered an entirely different ship extant at the time, such yridian, cardie patroller, regula 1 etc).

"notice the 'Toga as much as the Ent-A?"
-no and that's an incisive query, in that toga's more sophisticated, subtleized palette is one reason i slightly favor it over reliant :) other reasons are the slightly coarser, more-poppin etchings and slightly-thicker saucer & nacelles which, while i usually favor maximum delicacy for the sake of accuracy and pushing fabrication limits, in this case imparts a more satisfying feel overall :)

Huh, dunno how I missed this post last week.

Nice gets on the accessories, sweet deal!

All that renumbercrunching has left my brain confused. I'll just trust you on my stuff here.

reconfirm post 638's cryptoquextion aboveOh good, that wasn't confusing at all. :p Luckily, using my mad math skills, I was able to track down that original post and figure it out by seeing the original question, to which I answer: "yes". And enjoy the reading of the trekmags. :)

"as yet i'm not intimately familiar with any of the non-mm versions you cite"
- Shocking! I love the movie Enterprise, so I'm very familiar with 'em all. I did forget to cite (thanks for the spelling lesson BTW, internet pushed that spelling right outta my brain till now) the various pewter versions, tho' only 1 really deserves any mention in this pricerange, the one from Racing Champions.

"one of the very reasons i favor mms: getting familiar with mms requires less overall ($$, effort, inflexible display logistics) than the other formats."
- Yeah, tell that to someone who doesn't have this piece now though. Friggin' scalpers, friggin' Paramount.

"aside from st3dc which i consider a blaring-white, featureless, needlessly metal version,"
- Lemme compare your claims against the 2 I have... yup, yup, and yup. The first one I have was 'battle damaged' when one of the pylons broke by accident and then I gave it a full-on beat-down to match (same thing with the Die Cast Ent-D years later!). Still, up intil recently, that was the ONLY toy version I could even find (the big mixo-chango one was unknown to me until very recently).

"one drawback they all start off with in my eyes is their size. i do have a few larger ship toys (isd, borg cube & sphere, ds9, vorcha, falcon, tyderium, slave 1, b-wing), but..." The snapfast model is about Action Fleet size, the Racing Champs pewter one is about Galoob Die Cast size. I do see what you mean though. But which Larger-Sized Falcon are you referring to, the Kenner/Hasbro full-size one, the Kenner Die Cast one, or the Action Fleet one (or one of the models)?

"is it an MM first and foremost?"
-in light of my above-delineated preference for the mm format, i would say so-At first, I made the same presumption, but then I backed up when I realized that this Ent-A is the ONLY Ent-A in the scale, so it's harder to totally judge that answer at this point. Still, it'd be hard to fully gauge whether I'm splitting hairs with that one or not, so I think the point will stand as an MM.

"-yes, it does, tho it still strikes me as a bit of a missed opportunity (no xwing-style side guns to further set it apart from reliant- or better yet, since it's so similar to reliant, instead galoobb coulda offered an entirely different ship extant at the time, such yridian, cardie patroller, regula 1 etc)."
- On the Toga, are you saying you would have rather seen Galoob make an inaccurate vehicle, or are you saying you would rather it had been a Soyuz class instead of the Toga?

"no and that's an incisive query, in that toga's more sophisticated, subtleized palette is one reason i slightly favor it over reliant :) other reasons are the slightly coarser, more-poppin etchings and slightly-thicker saucer & nacelles which, while i usually favor maximum delicacy for the sake of accuracy and pushing fabrication limits, in this case imparts a more satisfying feel overall :)"
- Hmm, especially taking into account that last part, I'm suspecting that besides your yen for the MM scale, perhaps the MM Ent-A is a more idealized version of the Starfleet design, it captures the very essence of that design because it literally is the prototypical for Modern Trek ships. Or maybe its coarser sculpting and painting are like a loud yell to you rather than the normal visual conversation between the rest of the Starfleet MM vehicles.

I wish I were feeling more inspired right now, but the weather is kinda beating me down today.
