Continuing the VT the Bounty Hunter Thread (http://220.127.116.11/thread.html?dom=ss&TID=20&PID=5153) ....where I posted pics of our last VTeatime, I have another page up of pictures of our VTeatime yesterday. You can see them HERE (http://fan.starwars.com/ForumForce/tea.html)
Thanks to VT for my AF Virago and another TIE Bomber to open:) The Virago was $3! How does he do it:D !!
Warstar is off to Montana to go to film school. Good Luck Warstar, we'll miss seeing you, but know we'll still see you on the Forums.

Did I see K3P0 for jeddah written in your subtitle? Merci merci bien!
That pic of Warstar, VT and WS's friend should be titled "the Stygian Witches." :D
Please take more pics next time :)

And how does one take a picture of the embodiment of the Force? ;)

if so, compare&contrast w/hunter-thompsonesque machoman persona i happened to be fronting in the previous tea pix (http://fan.starwars.com/sabretoothcollection/tea.html), & you'll realize you should Be so lucky as to possess my compelling, chameleonic androgyny- you'd be suprised how handy it can be from time to time
that said, which stygian witch do i get to be? is there an edie sedgwick stygian witch? a jackie stygian witch? a parker posey one? and have you seen clockwatchers Yet?? :)
btw, ws' pal was known as "sherwood" here at ssg. and instead of a stygian witch, to me his pics bring to mind paul dooley's assured, superfun portrayal of enabran tain :)
"no wonder the romulans can't conquer the galaxy: no one can stomach their cuisine" -tain (sipping a romulan ale), ds9's "the die is cast" :)

.....Of course not dear, I would take it as a compliment - but if you must be a *specific* witch, you can be the one with the eye.
The old stygian witches were very wise ol wimmin that lived up in teh caves of Ancient Greece, overlooking the Aegean; They shared an eyball for sight and were cannibals. There is a representation of them in Clash of the Titans.
My remarks were based more on the coven-like aspect of the photos and the regularity with which you meet smacks of "when shall we three meet again, in thunder lightning or in rain, when the hurly burly's done; when the battle's lost and won - there to meet MacD2" :D
As far as me being "so lucky as to possess my compelling, chameleonic androgyny" - I think I have done quite well over the years :p but you're right I do not have your propensity for androgeny.
these new forums suck. overcomplicated, underachieving. NO AMIDALA!!!

is that they is toooooo steril and clean. the old forums (pick your own carnation, old, older, oldest, don't matter which), had a nice personality to em', they may have had their glitches, but i enjoyed using them more than this new one. a good analogy might be the cluttered, slightly dirty, rough around the edges, mom and pop store vs. the big new shiny, everything perfectly coiffed super mall down the road.
hey! that's jes me. (i'm jes happy to have a contunuing forum on mm's)
jeddah, you will find an amidala avatar on page three of the avatar cherces. click on the use cp button nestled between the log out and the calander button on the upper right of your screen, then click on the edit options button, scroll all the way down to the change avatar button, and then go to page three of the avatars. amidala is on the bottom row.

. . .even though i make up for it & then some w/my excellent Training in other spheres ;) i did see that titan movie waybackwhen, but i still wanna be a specific stygian. hey i know! i'll be a SONTAGIAN (http://images.amazon.com/images/P/0393049280.01.LZZZZZZZ.gif) stygian! it's perfect: she too possesses a formidable, androgynous VersaTility (she's a Real lesbian, not just a Male one like me ;) ), a sharp eye And knows the value of a nice window seat (hers, as you can see, overlooks centpark; i wonder if it's in the tower gsj's grandpappy designed?) :)
gsj: so you look kinda like your faddah; jdah looks kinda like My faddah; if traVolTa were here he'd ask, WHAT'S GOIN ON OVAH HEAH? :p and how come r2 gets all the nice? doncha like My bf tshirt too?? :( :p
b'jr & i went ahuntin, spurred partly by retrieving grif's awings. the good news, grif: it turns out red awing was in a silver-logo box, which has been opened but everything's present, still tied down & in perfect shape, $10.77 incl. tax :) the bad news: the green awing was no longer there :( which of course you can't blame on Me since i launched only 2 days after rec'ving your payment, and it took you Weeks to send me said payment :( anyhoo, after you give me final clearance i'll send off your awing and enclose the change remaining after shipping :) or, you may wish to wait a week (see end of post below :) )
we also found a second silver-logo af awing, also opened but otherwise perfect, $10+tax; anyone wants say so here asap :) also: sealed silver logo xwing, $20; sealed silver snowspeeder ($10 or $25, can't recall offhand), and o-o-p af rancor $7. also, we bagged b'jr a $6 sealed virago model, $6 o-o-p droideka and 2 applause cloud cities (price not sufficiently impressive to warrant citation though :( ).
but the Real newsmaker in this report is r2. i meets up with her at fed spacedock last week to turn over af tie-b and virago to her. but she surprises by havin stuff for me in return! as you can see (http://fan.starwars.com/forumforce/files/aut_4655teamm_6f.jpg), here's what she bagged on her trip to lousyanna:
all 4 mm-sized ep1 snapfast vehicles, $.25 each!
ep1 mm pax 1 & 2, $1 each!
af miniscenes that include sithbike, stap and mini droideka, $2 each!
i turned over all of above to b'jr, who was Glad to get em for such prices :) except for the eka, that is- i kept that for myself, cuz it's cool :) thanx to r2, now i have 4 sizes of this: af, applause, commtech and megaction, each offering their own attractions :) did y'all know that af eka's 3 legs fit perfectly between the triangulated "fork tines" on the top of the aussiebraid holojector? the colors even match nice. try it for yourself :)
demonstrating her commendable attentiveness to our crosstawk here, r2 also took note of jdah's wish for a k3po and remanded one to my custody, $7+tax :):):) (which reminds me to axe jdah if i may open & examine k-3's commpack? :) ) now all we need to do is find jdah an r2q5 before i finish timminator's mixtape & wing this pkg britward (but You, jdah, are not working on Any mixtape, so light that candle already! ;) )
total for r2's stuff was $13.90. meanwhile my total was ~$17, so i ended up giving Her $$ :)
hey r2, didn't we take a pic in which swaffy's music folder's visible? did it come out? canweseecanwesee? :) and hey bc3, did you see the teemto pod swaffy sent me (http://fan.starwars.com/forumforce/files/aut_4656teamm_6f.jpg)? welllll? not too shabby, eh pauly? :)
next friday b'jr & i are planning to hit local trekcon dealer room. plz list all yer hunt wants here before then, specifying min. acceptable condition & max acceptable price :)

i have an idea,
grif, send me your addy, and i'll cover the green a-wing from my end, i have several dupes of it laying around!
vt, you keep the extra scratch from griff, and use it to try and git me some more reasonable priced, (i will only accept srp or less) babylon 5.

VT, Sounds like you had a full and successful day of bounty hunting w/ b'jr. I sure wish I could still find AFs (open or sealed box) anywhere here!!! About the trek-con, if you see a decent, unopened playmAFes Ferengi Maurauder, I'd be interested. I'd prefer to pay $10.00 or less (but I'd go to $15.00), before shipping. Any chance to listen to the tape yet?
btw - I will not be able to check my work email for the next 2 weeks, so if you email me, please send to the addy in my SSG profile (jr477aol.com).
Hope everyone is enjoying their summer. It sure has gone by fast!

horrors of horrors :(
when i checked my stash at home, the boxed green a-wing that i had, is no longer there. i had forgotten that i told my wife it would be ok to give that to a friend of mason's for a birthday present some time ago :(
however, i do have two loose green a-wings, unfortunately the pilots are not included nor mon motha ( they were part of a package auction which i had won, which included a lot of things with it). if you would like, i will send you both of those a-wings (with stands), i'll substitute the a-wing pilots with other pilots which i have, and if agreeable to you, as a bonus, i will include a loose but complete dewback battle pack which includes the rare dropped figure of ig-88. let me know if this is ok, and i will ship it off asap.

Many Thanks R2 and VT ! :D
08-29-2001, 10:48 AM
jeddah...you're most welcome!:D ....and hope you got my email regarding the Action Collection R2-A6 I think you were looking for? If not, email me if you're interested.
VT, there was one pic that didn't turn out.... way too overexposed....and I don't think I can salvage it enough to discern SWAFMAN's incredible music folder. Sorry:(
08-29-2001, 12:43 PM
Thanks, yes I got your email.
I have about 6 R2-A6's (which I myselft bought for $4.00 apiece). I'm all R2-A6'd out at the mo as I decided to build 1:1 scale models.
Having said that, I am still after the R2-D2 with moveable claws/parts and the R5-D4. Altho' I'm on a collecting sabbatical @ the mo', I make an exception to anyone finding these 2 6"ers. :)

re other arrangements such as green awing: y'all might wanna wait till after convention friday; let's first see what i can find there :) btw gsj, i think i know who that glenn guy is; in fact, he may be selling at the con. feel free to email him, telling him you're from florida but that a denver pal of yours named vulcantouch will be making the rounds friday night, so if he wants feel free to bring whatever you may wish me to inquire about, as well as his aliens & t2 mms & set them aside for vt's inquiry on your behalf :)
swaffy: oh sure i've had Time to listen to tape, but you already know that with me, it's never that simple; i have to wait for the Right time  the fsmmb's timminator also sent me a cdr (as with gsj's, i'm still working on His mixtape  ) so who knows, maybe i'll hear em both back2back :)
r2: if u still have, plz send overxposed swaffolder pic to my "real name" address so i can see just forda heckuvit ;)
today at thrift store: o-o-p (no figs or stand) af slave1 for b'jr, $.80 :) one thing you never find at thrift stores is mms. i guess potential donors figure, "aw heck, these're so cool and small, it's not like i'm gonna free up a lotta space if i throw em out, so i might as well keep em around". i know how they feel :)
has anyone forgotten i've not only sighted a loose af ig88 figure for $1.50, but also the bp which includes it for $5? just checking :)

i have e-mailed glenn and informed him that you would be makin the rounds on friday, and that i would be interested in his alieans and t2 mm's (i would?).
i've never even given those mm's a thought, but as in the case of bab 5, i trust your judgement in these matters without hesitation, so if you score these fer me at a price that sits well with you, i would love to have these (i would?).
actually, i recall reading somewhere thet the mm acp fits like a glove into the af drop ship, and that does interest me!(i love when mm's work with different lines due to the scale of the toys!)
now i'll have to find a drop ship somewhere. (just when you think you're done.............................................. ..........)
np: robert morse - i believe in you (how to succeed in business without really trying original broadway cast album)
08-31-2001, 12:35 PM
. . .i was actually asking so i could score em for b'jr, cuz he always wants more of them (esp. the apc, sharing your fits-perfectly-into-the-af motive; he has 15 af droppers and "only" 6 apcs to put in em  but whaddahell, if you wanna get in on t2 & aliens mms, lmk min. acceptable condition & max acceptable price asap, & if b'jr don't want glenn's price (or even if he does ;) ), maybe you will :)
last call for wants! b'jr & i are heading to dealer room in less than 5 hours!! then that pal who sold b'jr $170 wortha sw stuff this summer (http://18.104.22.168/thread.html?dom=ss&TID=20&PID=1539&seen=108) is draggin us to the 'bird (http://www.1159.com/bluebirdtheater.htm) for some sick twisted animation fest or some such. but i promise we won't take any finds in with us :p

first of all, that guy i thought was glenn wasn't :p oh well:
-$5 minmp af tf droid control ship
-$3 o-o-p dc rep cruiser
-strikeforce k-bop, $15
-playmates insurrection ent-e (w/captain's yacht "mm") in a box that has been opened but otherwise in perfect shape, $35
say so ASAP if you want any of above, i'll try to get back for a mopup run  baggins:
-$6 mint o-o-p dc sith inf -say so here if you want :)
-minmp ferengi strikeforce for swaffy, $8.30 (this dealer charged tax)
from another dealer i negotiated a $30 deal for a dc slave 1 (for b'jr, $5) and b5 mm set #5 (for gsj, $25!) :) in the event gsj doesn't want it for that price (about a third of ebay yields :) ), one of you may take it, otherwise b'jr sez for that price he'll be happy to get a second set :)
from another dealer i negotiated a six-item, $50 deal- price breakdown as follows:
-r2q5 for jdah, $10 (about the cheapest we're likely to find; confirm that this is acceptable) :)
-ree-yees on slightly crimped card for $5 -any mm forum regulars may claim this if they want it; otherwise i'm using it for trade fodder
-mega droideka, $10 -claim if you want, otherwise b'jr'll take it :)
-300fett for b'jr, $13
-alpha/af cloud car and bwing, $12 total (hope you waited like i tolja, gsj :) ); b'jr gets the afs, i get the alphas :)
also for me: an mm-sized, snapfast-type model of the kazon raider, FREE! (traded it for b'jr's spare jedi hair braids :) ) like the maquis of this (which i already have), it's prepainted and differs significantly from the mm, which makes it a worthwhile addition to an stmm collection imo :) but box sez they also made a voyager, so you Punks keep an eye out for a cheap one for me, hear? :)

VT - did I read correctly that you scored a Ferengi playmAFes ship for me for $8.30? That is so cool. On your OK, I'll paypal the total + shipping to you in a VeryTimely manner.
BTW, in case you haven't read your email yet, I have a new email address for the house - email@example.com. My work email is still the same, but I won't be in the office until the 10th, so the '@home' one is the best way to contact me. I won't be able to access any computer from about 9/5 to 9/8.
Anywhoo, thanks a bunch for finding the trek ship. Your rep as bountyhunterextraordinaire is solid gold!!!!
I'll try to stay up to date on the forum as much as I can between now and the 4th, then around the end of the week. Hope you enjoy the holiday.

as fer the bab 5, ..............sold to the language thrashing, transplanted new yawka, with the respectable lookin family from miama beectch! (1/3 the usual yield? on some auctions it's a 1/4!)

gsj: all b5mm 1-4 pax were the inexplicable price of $25, so i left em right where they lay  no green awings, so if grif agrees, go ahead & send him your o-o-p green a-wing. then, in return for the $$ he paid for it, i will send you all nine b5mms from pax 1, 2 and 4 (o-o-p); b'jr has graciously agreed to turn over one of each in exchange for the leftover afs i got him friday (above) :) this will yield you all ships from b5 1-5 in one swoop; now, as with the kaztorp/array that eluded your stmm collection til recently, all you'll need is the last pak (#6) :)
b'jr'd actually been loaning me his alpha bwing for the last coupla weeks, so i'd been contemplating its desirableness/lameness quotient for some time. though i too agree the "quisinart cam"'s the focus of its appeal, let's just say i don't expect it'll be seeing much rotation on vt's playlist ;P alpha cc, on other hand, is quite adequate- provided the underside remains out of view, that is. what a bloated, boat-like, unrefined, unintriguing underhull this thing has; i feel like pressing something hot against it to push it in :p
maquis quicksnap model (http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1625755019) in a beat-up box (but undamaged contents), $2 :)
also bagged the previously-reported $5 minmp af trade fed droid control ship :)
also an o-o-p dc repcruiser in great shape, $2 :)
say so here asap if y'all want any of above, otherwise b'jr'll take possesion of them.
b'jr found o-o-p dc aat and rss for $3 each :) he also scored his own b5 #5 set for $30, his second. same scalper was selling an le3 set, opened and Missing ent-e, voyager, voy shuttle and obsidian yet was Still $100  i offered him trade items that cost me a total of $22.50 (abovementioned ree-yees and momc r2 hololeia), and when he declined i walked away
finally, since no one here claimed, another buyer got the above-reported $35 playmates ent-e w/captyacht "mm"-

after all, he Did overpay last time :p meanwhile swaffy, to Flamingly answer mixtape quextion, see aug 29 post above  ;) i guess your attached files aren't working properly on my end. oh well, feel free to describe what i'm missing :o
jdah: your cap just arrived, looks a-ok :) so now, along with your r2q5, your package is COMPLETE AND READY FOR SHIPPING, save for the completion of timminator's mixtape. so i'll tell you what: i'll wait until you've mailed My package before finishing the mixtape & mailing yours. after all, fair's fair, right? besides, there's gotta be Something that'll motivate you to send my pkg already; i Would like my stuff to arrive by December :p and no fair cheating by sending airmail either, cuz I AIN'T PAYIN FOR THAT :p ) btw, you Still haven't answered my commpack question (aug 24 post above) Or whether you want air or seamail. re whether you want the mm neimodian figures, too late- you left that one without an answer too long, so i gave em to b'jr :p
gsj: similarly, your package is also ready to ship except for awaiting-completion mixtape  your current total is $25 plus whatever xtra sfmms you're trading me (no hurry on those, feel free to continue to amass & send all at once later :) your current contents are:
-b5 #s 3 & 5 mm 3pax
-9 o-o-p b5 singles from mm 3-pax 1, 2 & 4
-o-o-p queenship mm
also, until i hear otherwise i will assume our FOUR-way "grif deal" is a go. to recap:
-gsj sends bp/awings to grif;
-grif sent $$ to me;
-i gave alpha xtras to b'jr;
-and b'jr turns over abovementioned b5 singles to gsj :)
meanwhile, i will send out grif's awing same time as i mail swaffy's, sometime in next coupla days :)
LAST CALL ON FOLLOWING CON-BAGGED ITEMS- claim em asap or they're b'jr's:
-$5 minmp af tf droid control ship
-$6 o-o-p dc sithinf

i'm still in euphoric shock over the bab 5 fleet that will be wingin' it's way in my direction! :D
grif's package got mailed to him today. as of his last communicae, he was a go on my substitution's to cover the green a-wing.
how do i only owe ya $25.00? if i recall, bab 5 #3 was $5.00, bab 5 #5 was $25, and dc snowspeeder was $4.95 (or something like that)
any st mm's i send ya, i figure i owe ya anyway for my mix tape (i know ya didn't jes stick a bunch o cd's in the changer , and hit shuffle!)
anyway, confirm here the total, and i'll wing a paypally in your direction within the week. (i'm expectin a paypal reimbursement in this time frame from the uk lord of the rings collector for items i have procured on his behalf, lessen o' course he changes his mind and sends me the ep I sets 12 and 13 as i have suggested in lieu of cash:D :D :D )
09-05-2001, 05:09 PM

and the -$2 o-o-p dc repcruiser, I'd love to have them:)!!
09-06-2001, 01:14 AM
VT: If [$5 minmp af tf droid control ship] is still available, I need it loose. If you have it and if you haven't shipped out the package, you can open it up and ship it loose to save a slight bit on shipping and I'll paypal ya another 5.00. LMK.

as of today, swaffy's AFerengi, griffy's awing and shinky's multi-item pkg are on their way :)
gsj: i don't recall the specifics offhand, but i do recall that i felt like i'd finally evened the score only when i'd gotten you the dc snowspeeder, so that & all that came before it don't count, so confirmed total is $25 :)

When is your next Fourth Story Foray, VT? I'm actually planning on being at the Tattered Cover tomorrow with my hubby, but know that is not your usual visitation time.
I have a feeling it's on the 13th, right? If so I doubt if I can make it up there in time, but I might give it a try :)

Great, thanks very much VT. The paypal payment will be sent momentarily. I'm very happy to get the Droid Control Ship out of the way. I have all the EP1 AFs boxed, but I still need the Gungan Sub, Flash Speeder, Alpha Droid Fighter, and all the Playsets loose. Thanks to you I no longer need the loose Droid Control Ship. If you see any of the others above loose or boxed at good prices please do grab them for me.

VT - Paypal has been completed for the Ferengi ship.
Sorry the attached wav files aren't working for you. They are sorta my equivalent of your "np" additions, but severely limited due to the attached file size constraints. That just makes it more challenging though. Fortunately, I have a lot of wavs... ;)

R2 thanks for the privee, I couldn't take advantage and engage him in discussions about R5 as cash is too tight for the next few months. Thanks so much for your help :)X
VT, thanks for taking charge of the cap, and the black astromech. I have no intention of using SWAF-o-post or GSJ-Mail so the shipping costs will be the cheapest - I'm not into throwing my nuggets away either - even if I have just paid £19.99 for a Hellraiser lament configuration box (it is cool tho')..... ;)
Anyway, I'm off to locate the dispatch threads & emails to find out what I'm sending where; yes you'll be pleased to find that I am packing the stuff up today; I don't want to cart that stuff to our new house just to send it on.

indeed jdah, your news Does pleeez :D meanwhile, i'll assume from your cryptic-as-usual reply that:

r2: yep, i'm afraid i was otherwise engaged yesterday, attending the Headache-Loud wedding reception of some Distant relative i never knew i had; to make matters worse, at the ceremony "endless love" was sung, during which i could feel my blood congeal into sickeningly-sweet syrup :p (do walkman hedphones clash w/formalwear? maybe i should ask the secret service- or agent smith from Matrix ;) ) on the plus side, it was held in a fascinating, VaulTed, modernist pre-cast-concrete worshiphaus embedded w/abstract stained glass strips; also, my unerring fashion instinct correctly predicted that the color d'jour would be VioleT- i'd happened to pick out a purple silk shoit ;) i don't spose hubby could make this thursday? :\
re this thursday: ordinarily it Would be my tea day, but at the moment it's up in the air cuz, once every spring & fall, when the aft temps are Just right, i make an exception to my schedule and do the tea thing at some yet-to-be-determined outdoor venue instead. otherwise, i feel silly & restless up there in that hermetic perch when i could be outside amongst the perfection ;) current forecast is an on-target 75f, but if the day turns out differently (hotter or colder), i can be counted on to stick to my usual :) otherwise, no problemo, i'm sure a convenient time'll fall into our laps, i'm in no hurry if you ain't :)

the next thing ya know, you'll be allowing dese things to come to ya by means o' flying machines!

. . . now that you got all five, i imagine all the SWAF-HUGGIN BABIES here'll hope to see a strkeforce critique from you shortly ;)
r2: in case it helps, so far it looks like this thursday's a go.
not just cuz the weather won't be ideal, but also cuz i think it's important to stick to Some routines this week :) i'll try to remember to bring dcs in case you show, no sweat if you don't, we'll hook up another time :) but if you do show tomorrow, you can gimme a nice smack on behalf of everyone here for my "going to war" thred jokes
gsj: stragglers? ?como? ;) if you mean can jdah ship stuff to me for forwarding onto you, ok by me :)
jdah: all i did was slit the section of bubble that held the commpack, took it out, examined it & put it back, no problemo ;) so, as southpark's saddam hussein to said to baal: "hey u need 2 relax, guy" :D

"yous gonna let jeddah ship sumthing direct to you, without it having to make wayward stops to pick up micro stragglers along da way? the next thing ya know, you'll be allowing dese things to come to ya by means o' flying machines!"
-whaaaa?? i'm afraid you lostededed me :\ anyhoo, i'll try to expedite yer mixtape now that weather's turnin colder, if i remember correctly it's the only thing holding up yer pkg so far. speaking of which: i'm gonna use the box you last sent me, which was the last one i sent you (w/louise nevelson stamps, remember?). i wonder, is this box gonna become like the decades-long practical joke that went on between grace kelly and her Swan co-star alec guiness? (every few years, one or the other would arrange to have the same toy tomohawk placed under the pillow in whatever hotel the other happened to be staying at the time. strikes me as a very british sense of humor, no? ;) )
not much, but: out on a run, b'jr & i came across a complete galaxy death star/vader med chamber he took a liking to. i told him to hold off cuz i could find it cheaper; a few days later i got it for $2 :)
in a thrift store i found a chewed-up alpha tyderium in a bag of random toys. didn't buy it or anything just mentioning cuz i never before came across an alpha in such a context.
finally, at a yard sale i got the first two novels of "the bounty hunter wars (Mandalorian Armor (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0553578855/qid=1002257489/sr=2-1/ref=sr_8_3_1/102-6142578-4329721) and Slave Ship (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/055357888X/ref=pd_sim_books/102-6142578-4329721)) for $.50 each :) i'm kinda eager to get into em, but i think i'll wait til i can score the third (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/055357891X/ref=pd_sim_books/102-6142578-4329721) under similar terms. i got plenty of other books to read in the meantime, incl. the Dominion War books 2 (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0671024973/qid=1002257593/sr=1-2/ref=sr_1_6_2/102-6142578-4329721) & 4 (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0671024981/qid=1002257593/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_6_1/102-6142578-4329721) and of course the DS9 Companion (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0671501062/qid%3D1002257663/ref%3Dsr%5F11%5F0%5F1/102-6142578-4329721) :)
btw r2, so far i'm on for next thursday if that's any good for you (especially if temp's anything like 2day; glad i sunned myself while i could ;) ) ; you bring your cam (again) & i'll bring yer diecasts & my best "zoolander" pose ;)

thanx to ssg news reports, i knew enough to stopped by walmart 2day, & bagged duros on sale for $5 :) they also had shmi, ketwol, bespgaurd, sabe etc. anyhoo i've already put his gun in 300fett's holster (upside down, so it looks like a commlink or grenade), and given duros one of the honker guns that came with a jawa that came with my gonk :) duros & barquin are so far the only 2 organic aliens i've deigned to add to my figure collection.
at tc i also found Writings On Glass; Essays, Interviews & Criticism for $3 (and i hand't even known this existed!) and Knowing The Score (about filmmusic) for $3 too :)
speaking of tc, r2: haven't heard back from u about metting there tomorrow, so i hope i don't upset any intention by saying tomorrow's kinda up in the air (it might be Just warm enough to take tea outside, in which case i'd opt for any of a dozen venues offering that instead). if you'd planned on coming up though, lmk (post here by tomorrow morning) & i'll lock fs in :)

VT, you didn't get my private email? I am planning on making the meeting this afternoon at SpaceDock...camera in hand:)
10-12-2001, 10:40 AM
before meeting r2 at fs, i found me a hardcover uk edition of the SE Empire script (with Lotsa great flikpix) downstairs at tc for olny $11 :D meanwhile, upstairs fs was participating in that "dine out to help out" thing they had goin for 9-11's 1-month anniversary. imagine that: vt, Patriot- just fer sittin on his can & stuffin his face :p
can i just have a simple meeting w/r2? oh NOOOO. once again she ambush-bests me; here i think i'm gonna simply remand some diecasts to her, but instead she also gots things 4me :) claiming to be prunin her stash, she turns over 2me gratis a box of ent-d blueprints (http://s1.amazon.com/exec/varzea/glance-browse/Y04Y3236360Y1480020/ix=fixed-price&rank=%2Ditm&fqp=org-unit-id%014%02site-org-unit-id%014%02status%01open%02title%01star%20trek%20blu eprints&sz=50&pg=1/9/41/qid=1002900211/ZS=1-9/107-6195264-8067767) which look mucho cool :) i've been thinkin though: with r2's blessing, if anyone here wants these, say so, and after i get a chance to look thru em for myself, i'll send em to you for shipping cost (bookrate oughta keep it under $2 domestic :) ). first come first served :)
she also gave me a coupla applause mm-type danglers she got from helping out ssg at alphacon; y-wing and isd which, in case you aren't familiar, are kinda like sculpt variants of the mms :) hmm, i gots me aNOTHER idear: didn't gsj say the applause droid fighter dangler has separated wings? ok, again with r2's blessing, if anyone has one of those he wants to trade, i'll give him Both of these for it; otherwise i'll donate em to b'jr's collective :)
a nice, wide-ranging conversation about all you crazy bums, recent events etc. a gauzy, lenticulus-dappled sky and turning trees graced our visit, and we sat at table 50 this time instead of ten. we took pix so you'll be able to see for yourself; we Think they came out ok ;)
around 6, she left to browse downstairs before heading home (find anythin good? :) ); i stayed till ~6:20 to catch the sunset  thanx again r2, enjoyable as always-

actually it was the hallmark keepsake. mason showed no interest in either the droid fighter or naboo fighter which came with the set (he does however, love the droid control set, and as such, has entered regular play rotation).
as for his disinterest in the above mentioned ships, i was gonna include em in my package to you vt, as a sort of unannounced special bonus (now since i've announced it, i may have to come up with something else!) :)
soooooo no trade necesarry!
10-12-2001, 10:59 AM
i forGOT about that!!! :o in that case gsj, wanna do me another flavor? axe mason if he'd like to trade me that control ship for the danglers. not only that, "i'll even throw in a couple crullers" (rene "pabst" auberjonois to armin "herbert ross" shimerman, ds9's "far beyond the stars" ;) ), by which i mean, axe him what other lil dealies he might want & i'll see what i can scare up :) blueprints maybe? like father like father's father like father's father's father like son? :D

ok, i'll lyk :) maybe it's for best; a "play rotation" ship likely wouldn't be mint :p it's mm-sized you say? plz confirm. meanwhile, anyone get a look at that defiant/voy/ent-e 3-pack? i wonder how they hold up in person???

my original postin's on the hallmark keepsakes (http://www.sirstevesguide.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=862)
the droid control ship is a perfect ( and i do mean perfect)mm substitute! and as i said prev. the cool thing about the keepsake, is that it is the ship with all the antennae(as opposed to the non-antennae version which was shown to be the mm one, if it was indeed actually ever made)
the naboo, and droid fighters are unfortunately a tad bit smaller.
the star trek ships are smaller than the mm's, and in my humble op. the only one which is detailed better than the mm's is the defiant.
they were out of the stra trek ornaments when i was there, and only had the store display ones left. if they still have those, i'll see if i can make a deal for ya (doubtful), butcha' never know until ya try!
10-12-2001, 11:32 AM
i just forgot to take Note of it, idjut that i am :p musta had some other junk on my mind, which is odd cuz, for me, what else Is there besides mms?
display ones you say? damn, it's good to have an intrepid, clevah bastid like you on mah side

Thanks VT for another enjoyable time at the Fourth Story and for you patience as we tried to solve the world's problems;)
I added the pics from yesterday to my previous VTeatime page, they're near the bottom. HERE (http://fan.starwars.com/sabretoothcollection/tea.html)
The Applause danglers weren't from SSG, but as part of the registration packet at Alphacon (http://fan.starwars.com/AlphaForce/index.html) and I'd be happy for anyone who wants them to have them. As I said, I got them for "free" and was happy to share my extra:D You can see the Rebel Y-wing dangler in one of the pics at VTeatime. You can see a list of other danglers released at the
SW Collector's Bible (http://www.sandcrawler.com/SWB/applause.html)
Thank you VT for my opener die cast Sith Infiltrator and Republic Cruiser. When you asked me what wave they were in, I sure couldn't think at the time, but they are BOTH indeed from the second wave. DIE CAST LIST (http://fan.starwars.com/ListForce/files/DIECAST.htm)
VT, I'm sure I can add some comments on the latest VTeatime pics, should you so be inclined:D !
10-12-2001, 08:57 PM
R2 - great pics, as usual. The Y-wing "dangler" looks really cool. Did someone say there was also a Star Destroyer? If any of these are still around, I'd enjoy displaying them. Seeing your collection, I can't imagine anything I would have to trade, but lemme know if we can work something out??
VT - I was surprised to see this:
Whatcha doin' mister? (http://fan.starwars.com/_ksi0701961589109756/sabretoothcollection/files/tatvt_7aut_4806.jpg)
Still anticipating your comments on the tape.
Jeddah - I recv'd the Paypal. Thanks mucho!
I finally got around to trying out the cd burner and Easy CD Creator software on my system. I wish I'd tried it sooner, so's I coulda made CDs rather than cassettes.
VT - it looks like you prefer a cassette Walkman-type device vs. a Diskman. Is this correct, or is either media equally convenient for you? Also, remember that the last tape was a collection of music that holds significance to Me. I did not select the tracks based on any assumption of what You might like. All the same, I hope You liked at least some of it :(
BTW, IMHO, John Barry deserves recognition as one of the most gifted orchestral (is that the correct term?) composers of this era. And I would not have realized that were it not for your starting me on the path to seeking out and listening to his work.
Hey Jeddski - I know you said you were cassette-challenged, but have you been able to rustle up a player yet to give the tape a lissin'?
I'm itching to make a CD compilation next, so if you'd like one, please lemme know.
Best wishes to all for the safety and health of you and your loved ones....

i recall a sign in a barbershop i used to patronize: "all problems could be solved if only barbers and cabdrivers were put in charge of the world (i.e., those with a rep for havin all the answers & talkin the ears off any captive audience ;) )"
speakin of barbers, it seems "shave & a haircut" would be a good "np" for me right about now (actually, this aft i finally did; it's been about 7 months ;) )
i LURRRRVE how our pix came out, r2; captured the occasion real nice-like :D captions'll be forthcoming next chance i get :)
"Whatcha doin' mister?"
-oh, me & r2're just havin a bit of inside fun: you see, last time & this time, for some reason every pic we took that included your swaffolder failed to come out (overexposed, camjiggle). we concluded your folder must have some kinda mojo in it, so while she shot that pic i was tryin to get a peek at the mojo, since it only seems to manifest itself when the shutter snaps. cool ghost story just in time for halloweenie eh?
i use all 3 formats (cd, lp, cass) as sources, but Listen mainly to mixtapes derived from same, especially when i'm mobile. as i was tellin r2 yesterday, it'd take me forever to switch formats. i've got dozens of walkmans and hundreds of mixtapes; as much as i have invested in cassformat, i've yet to be confronted with a good enough reason to jump ship. but more importantly, to convert to disc would/will be a months-long process, one i can't be bothered with presently. b'jr likes my repertoire and keeps tryina bribe me with a free minidisc deck & blanks if i'll just fill some for him. but i say unto him, "can deees. . . 'minideesk' of yours catch dee sunsets i'll miss if i accept your offer?? NO! such is mango! you Can't Hava Da Mango! (airkiss trailed by insouciant buttslap)" :p
a note about that pictured player: it's a cheapazz craig (found used for $2 the day before) that doesn't even have rewind  but i was using it because it ironcially had more suitable sound for the 70's hits i'm currently playin than the costlier sony i'd been using. not only that, just like the sony it was also that yellow color (vulgar & loud most of the year, but Perfectly fashionable in Fahl, Dahling :) )
"orchestral (is that the correct term?)"
-who knows, but i know what you mean  really diggin jb are ya? what more've you heard of his besides what i sent? r2 likes him too :)
"I did not select the tracks based on any assumption of what You might like"
-smart move ;) cuz unless you're tryin to seduce someone ( ), a mixtape's best aim is the conveyance of personal sensibility, which yields a much richer payoff and, much to my gratitude, was the choice you made
"All the same, I hope You liked at least some of it"
-of course i did; you worry too much ;) happily, the right "Vibe-Time" to listen to yer tape has come around several times, so i've given it a few passes to allow it to soak in. i've got a few prelim reactions, & will probably endeavor to share same in real-time as you did this spring- seems like a good way to prompt the flow :)
meanwhile, did you say both danglers for a betty? or maybe some hallmark trekships or control donut?? SOLD :) ok, i'll reserve em for you; anything else you seek offhand while i'm at it?
duz swaffy wanna dangler? DUZZY SWAFFY WANNA DANGLEE? jump boy, jump for the dangler, good dog ;)
(danglers? overexposure? jiggle? mango? what Exactly are we talkin about again?? :o )
btw, recognize the droid fighter? it's the one you had etoys send me a year ago :D

can't think of anyone i'd rather have em  i promise to not jack em up too much when i look thru em
i just noticed: you can see the $1.95 dav pricetag on my cheapazz walkman (http://fan.starwars.com/sabretoothcollection/files/tatmm_7aut_4804.jpg) :p a la wookiee scalps, i often keep the pricetags attached (or just let em wear off on their own), as braggin-proof of bargain-baggin skill  (note: does not apply to clothing- or did you think i was minnie pearl? :p )
short & sweet: after havin breakfast at Sunflower in boulder this mornin, b'jr & i hit the target up there & found him one of them $28-reduced potj bwings w/sullustian pilot (which he hates, so if tokyo joe don't want it i'm gonna try to trade it for him :) now i'm jealous, cuz my VinTage b-wing, which i'd bought at a thrift store for $1, is missing wings & canopy. i also envy this new one's superior paintjob. BUT, it ain't like it matters enough to me to pay $30 for my own, so i'll just lookit his :p

VT - I looked at kaybee, my local biglots & a biglots about 80 miles away (happened upon it on the way back from a day trip to Gettysburg yesterday - climbed around the Devil's Den - See It Now (http://www.knic.com/DevilDen.htm) - for a few hours) and so far, no joy of the betty kind is to be had. But I will definitely keep searching. Since there were shelvers last season, i'm thinking maybe this season they'll hit those big wire bargain bins out front in the kaybees, maybe/hopefully. Will also look for the Hallmark keepsakes. I do have a Klingon Bird, but it is staying here. I enjoy seeing my son place it on the tree and give it "1st light."

. . .i think personally i'd rather hang at nyc's knickerbocker Club for a spell- is it still around? ;)
btw, re jb u might be interested in this (http://www.filmscoremonthly.com/board/Forum1/HTML/000933.html) :)
no worries, the mallhark bop ain't a priority on this end anyway, just that voy/def/ent-e 3-pak gsj posted a link to above :) i'll hold the danglees 4u, keep an eye out for add'l ones, & send em eVenTually
re mixtapes and "now playins", let's hear what you guys think of this analysis:
from what i've discerned of our musical tastes, i'd say gsj's emphasizes passion & renewal of authenticity (punk etc), while swaffy's emphasizes craft (lotta adept guitar-solo noodlins etc).
rather than skill of execution like swaffy, what generally attracts me first & foremost is sensibility (like you couldn't tell that from my reckless peckins ;) "i'm an Idea man, i can't be bothered with Details!" -q, TNG :) ), particularly extremes of conceptual austerity & sumptuous hedonism. on the other hand i do share swaffy's embrace of instrumentals.
and ironically, while it is gsj who's exhilarated by "anarchy", it is I who grooves on a mechanistic, rigorous Architecture in alotta my music (howse, glass etc) :)
meanwhile, jdah just gots no damn taste at all, lissenin to anythin flygirls can grindbump to :p (sowwy, just VenTing plazma cuz jdah apparently Still hasn't launched my Happypackage :( )
r2: i think diecast seller also had o-o-p dc sebulbapod too, but i didn't know it was wave2. maybe i'll get it next time if it's there, in case anyone interested :)

unfortunately you np'd me in your closing with the police.
never did like them stuck up uppercrusters much. i recall a thought back from 79' when the police and van halen were both makin' there mark on the scene. on the one side you had all your long hair, harley boot wearen' thugs, stickin' they're pinky's and indexes up in the air screamin' rock and roll, when david and the boys hit the charts. (always annoyed me to no end that we share the same middle and last names) (are you david's brother? i gots all the time) , whilst on the other side of the coin, you had all these upper eastsider, brooks brothers preppy types, tawkin' endlessly about the musical virtuosity of stings fling, and how this was the natural progression of neanderthal punk and proof of the musical superiority of new wave (give me no wave anyday of the week) :p .
meanwhile, vh folk, wouldn't give fans of the pig the time o' day, and vicey vercey....me? i lumped em' both together into the same resounding yeeeecccccchhhhh! ( i was actually at a kinks concert in 79' in portland or. and when they began the opening chords to you really got me, a loud mouthed knucklehead behind actually jumped on his chair and let out a whoop sceam and shouted "yeah! van halen rocks!".......sheeeeesh)
anyway, when i get home, i'm poppin' lou reed, iggy pop, richard hell, lydia lunch, and patti smith into the 5 disc changer, hittin' shuffle, and begin chantin' "serenity now" to restore my calm!

i just used "buy it now" to acquire bab 5 set 6 for $30.00, thus completing my collection of bab 5 micros.
some might say that i paid a tad much for that one set, but when you combine it with the 1st 5 sets bagged fer me by none other than mr. touch himself for $25.00 smackers for the kit-in-kaboodle, i end up paying just about srp for the entire lot.
my thanx, kudos, and extreme appreciation to VT, who by snaggin' me the 1st 5 for that amazin' amount, afforded me the opportunity to be flexible with the amount required to complete the set!
i was unable to git over to hallmark this weekend, so i was not able to pose a wheel-n-deel for the display st set. i will try and stop over there today, before headin' home to the misses an chillin.
should i now start to work on alien and star ship trooper?

--- Jedi Knights Prove to Be 'A Force' To Be Reckon With ---
LONDON - More that 10,000 Brits have decided to "Use the
Force" to pray to their higher power. An e-mail campaign
convinced more than 10,000 fans of the enduring science-
fiction films to list Jedi as their religion on Britain's
2001 census. Apparently that was enough for the Office
for National Statistics (ONS) because the grouping of Jedi
was given its own code and will appear in the 2002 census.
A spokesman for ONS explained that all data is encoded
because a large group of people have entered it on their
forms, but doesn't mean that Jedi has become an official
now, to the re:'s...
VT - re: "what more've you heard of his besides what i sent?"
--Been d/l'ing via music servers. Other than some miscellaneous tracks (too lazy to type out all the names), the only complete album I was able to glom was 'Across the Sea of Time.'
VT - re: "recognize the droid fighter? it's the one you had etoys send me a year ago "
--It does look snazzy in line w/ such good company in the pic.
VT - re: "re devil's den: rather than playin "kirk vs gorn" w/them knickerbocker bruddahs"
--Kirk vs. Gorn was filmed at Vasquez Rocks - right off of I-5 north of Los Angeles going toward Magic Mountain amusement park - me & a few buds used to spend many a hot afternoon climbing around there in wonderfully altered states, often re-enacting the chases and fighting from that episode.
VT - re: :re jb u might be interested in this"
--Thanks! That will give me a lot more specific names to search for on the ol' music servers.
VT - re: "my np for swaffy: david sanchez, 'los cronopios'"

VT - re: "i'd say gsj's emphasizes passion & renewal of authenticity (punk etc), while swaffy's emphasizes craft (lotta adept guitar-solo noodlins etc)."
--That is as good a take on how my musical tastes run as any I've said myself.
(sure would like to hear GSJ's tape now that I've read VT's teaser)
GSJ - re: "i was actually at a kinks concert in 79' in portland or. and when they began the opening chords to you really got me"
--My fave version of 'You Really Got Me' is by 801 (Phil Manzanera, Brian Eno, et al..) Have you heard it?? The whole album '801 Live!' is great. & speaking of punk (as VT was in reference to GSJ's tape), I do believe I included 'Third Uncle' on the mixtape I sent to VT & Jeddah. As mentioned in the liner notes, I thought it, as well as a blistering version of 'Baby's on Fire,' was one of the real precursors to the emerging punk genre. BTW - I am very envious that you got to see the Kinks!!!!
GSJ- re: "a loud mouthed knucklehead behind actually jumped on his chair and let out a whoop sceam and shouted "yeah! van halen rocks!".......sheeeeesh)"
--Well, I can say that Van Halen DID rock, at least IMO, and the 'O' of everyone else at the venues and in the years I saw them. Back in around '79 - '80, VH played my high school quad at lunch hour one afternoon, when they were still basically an unknown garage band ('cept those boys never had to play in no garage - they was from a very nice Pasadena neighborhood). Eddie was sweet on a piece of pie who went to my school, and she talked them into playing. About a year later, I saw them absolutely blow the roof off of a West LA club called the Starwood (run by the nefarious Eddie Nash of 'The Laurel Canyon Murders' fame - which, for you porntrivia buffs, resulted in John Holmes going to, and dying in, jail), right about the time they were signed to their first major recording contract. Eddie (VH, not Nash!) was freakin' thermonuclear that night, and David made Geddy Lee sound like a baritone with his ear-bleedin' hi-pitched screamin'. Ah... good times. The Starwood was on Santa Monica Blvd, but gave the legendary Sunset Strip clubs (Whisky-a-go-go, Rainbow, Roxy) a real run for their money for a few years, favoring up-'n-coming bands to the more established names.
GSJ - re: "vh folk, wouldn't give fans of the pig the time o' day"
--Yeah, sorta, I guess. Early Police (1980'ish) was okay, if nothing else, for crossing over the reggae sound to some folks who still wouldn't know what it was were it not for Stink, et al. I always did find him too pretentious, even back then.
GSJ - re: "gsj's 5 greatest albums of all time"
--PRINCE?!?!?!?!?! This must be some appreciation that comes from you sharing his experience in making music vs. my only listening to/appreciating music. For the life of me, I just cannot understand the appeal - tho' I know it is widespread - of this guy.
GSJ, we GOTS to visit in person some time. I would enjoy the heck outta hearing all about your experiences. Hell, if it weren't for the saved ticket stubs, I wouldn't even remember going to a few of the concerts I went to in the 70's & early 80's. But there were some awesome ones. Breakfast with the Grateful Dead at Glen Helen regional park in San Bernardino - aka 'the us festival' - and yes, I did catch valley fever, The Flaming Groovies at the Whisky, Urgh Wars at the Santa Monica Civic. The Stones at Anahiem Stadium with the Outlaws opening (remember when they'd ALL pick up guitars and stand at the front of the stage and wail for about 15 minutes, then go back to their usual instruments?), Stones Tattoo You tour at the Coliseum with the WORST concert billing in the history of music!!! - Prince and George Thorogood opening. Prince comes out first all cooing and effeminite-like, and after about one song, the 100,000 (yes, 100,000) bikers and other hardrockers start boo'ing & those close enough to the stage are chucking these sorta milk carton-like huge cups of coca-cola at him - he left the stage after playing less than ten minutes. Then Lonesome George came out and just about stole the show from the Stones. By contrast, these same fans were later throwing roses, joints and whole baggies of dope TO - not AT - Mick, Keith, Bill, Ron, and Charlie.
It is about now that I remind our esteemed moderators that I did mention MicroMachine droid fighters up in the 2nd "re:" :D :D
okay, good night.

i do have the album, being a roxy music fan, manzanera always interests me. although i do like the sparse piano used up front on this version (ala iggy on i wanna be your dog), i still go back to 1964 when i want to to be satisfied by the song!
swafman - Well, I can say that Van Halen DID rock, at least IMO, and the 'O' of everyone else at the venues and in the years I saw them
now who's envious of who?, you apparently grew up in west coast rock central, while my muzacal tastes were being shaped by the nyc scene, yours were being carved outta la bedrock! i ahve to admit, that prolly the main reason why i never jumped on the vh bandwagon (other than hating mr. roth's voice), is that by the time i even knew they existed, they was soooooo popular, and of course being the punk i was, anything mainstream was bad, so in all fairness, i have to plead guilty that i never even gave em a chance. i might have given em a whirl, after they dropped roth, but my dislike for the red rocker ran even deeper. lookin back, given the choice between nyc and la, you guys seemed to be havin' a lot more fun on the left coast! nyc was angry mean drunks and change all around, while you guys were gettin fun drunk and havin a good time!

As for the rest of this music talk, I have little to add really, but I remember back when the Santa Monica Civic was an actual venue of virtue, the last thing I saw there was my sister's high school choir recital, and before that was "taste of LA", not exactly an impressive array of shows, though the choir thing did have a packed house. ;)

back in 79' i wuz drummer fer a band called drowning, we had the monday night slot gig at the mud club. (monday was freebie night, and that's jes what they paid us too) basically we were a thrash band, very loud, very fast, the drums pretty much provided any melody:D , no one knew quite what to make of us, and in a review, someone pegged us as "no wave". i always liked that moniker.
the most notable thang about the band, was that it was fronted by none other than jean-michel basquiat. this was just before he was discuvahed by andy and the rest of the art world. we went to school together at city-as-school in brooklyn. i never understood the art world ferver over him, he was nothin' more than a graffitiist, but hey, as a kid, i didn't get rothko either;) as a side bar (like there's really a topic happening here anyway), back in the spring of 78', when jean's family had kicked him out for the umpteenth time, he basically crashed at my house fer a couple o' weeks (folks were a tad uneasy about it, but being liberal upper west siders, they beared it fer a while), he had left one of his many sketch books filled with his graffiti doodlin' behind. i put it in a closet, and remided him several times that it was at the apartment, and that he should pick it up. well time went on, he never picked it up, and of course i forgot about it. after he had been written up in the new york times magazine section in '81, and became the darlin' of the art world, i realized that the sketch book would prolly be worth something, and went back to my parents house to retrieve it, only to discover that at somepoint when i was away at school, my parents (just as all parents do), cleaned up all elements within my room, and of coursed chucked the "trash". sheesh!
anyway, there's my "before they were stars" story
now where da heck wuz i?
heard from brit cit, and the sst's are mine! :D ;) :) i in turn, am going to wing whatever he wishes from my boxed af dupe collection!
berlin! i forgot all about em, or actually i should say her!(terri nunn) (now there's a rock kitten!) i love masquerade! gonna put it on when i git home!

JT - re: "I remember back when the Santa Monica Civic was an actual venue of virtue"

In addition to Urgh Wars, I saw Tangerine Dream play there (I definitely remember seeing them once, but, um, maybe twice?) , and -please don't laugh or tease- Triumph. that overreverent film (not surprising in that it was directed by his pal julian schnabel) at least had fun turns by the always-fun michael wincott (aka captain of the betty (http://www.sirstevesguide.com/forums/attachment.php?s=&postid=13196)) as ricard, and of course bowie, hilarious as warhol :D lotta good casting in fact, including an all-too-brief role by mah gal parkey poser as the kind of stuck-up elite babe she has a knack for :) seen this flick gsj? i'd love to hear how it jibes w/your personal impressions of j-mb. and have You seen High Fidelity swaffy??
speaking of betty, hey swaffy, i got an idea: it might help if we made this a three-way trade. i give you the danglers, someone else who can find the betty or wanted hallmarks (if you can't) sends to me, and then you send to that third party somethin comparable They want :) so, any of the resta ya want in?? what might you have to offer, swaffy? :D

My cd rom in my PC makes the system jerky when running the cd audio control software, and I don't have a lot of albums I like to listen to straight through in track order (only two I can think of are Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon and Beastie Boys' License to Ill), I've only got like 50-60 music CDs total though because I am not a huge music fan these days, thanks to overcommercialization and my impatience with new bands.
If I ever hear from R2, I'll let you know... LMK what you think of these blueprints too.
Yeah, I don't know what the story is with the awful acoustics of the SM civic auditorium, but I remember one time when I was a kid, my dad dragged me to some concert (we only lived a few blocks away, so we walked...) and I asked him why the music sounded best and clearest in the lobby. ;)
Free tickets are no excuse, all my friends used to try to palm free tix from KCRW off on me, like I really wanted to go to some "_____-fest '86" that involved sitting on grass or being packed in like sardines. ;) Which reminds me of my trip to the Stones' "Steel Wheels" tour where some stupid girl was eating peanut shells and drinking airline bottles of whiskey and puked it all up on the back of my leather jacket.

jt - I asked him why the music sounded best and clearest in the lobby
hey! growin' up with madison square (where mr. mccartney says they got long hair) garden, sound was always secondary! actually the woist venue i ever saw a show, was the double bill of aerosmith and led zep in '77 at the kingdome in seattle. actually heard the concert twice, 6 seconds apart! once when the wave 1st passed me, and twice when it reverberated off the rounded walls and came back at'cha'. bad hall fer shows! baad baad hall! (btw, it pretty much sucked eggs for football and baseball too!, glad to see it go!)
vt - i wish they'd release tandream's score to the '81 ken wahl b-flick The Soldier, it was the first tandream i ever heard & still dig it
check out the soundtrack to sorcerer, as well as their album stratosfear, those were my introductions to tangerine dream.
swafman - I saw Tangerine Dream play there
saw tangerine dream twice at the academy of music (later to become rubell's and schrager's palladium, incidentaly, that was the last palce i saw jean michel, back in 86. we hadn't seen each other for 5 years before running into each other there, i believe he was a guest dj. we spoke quite a bit that night, and the main thin i remeber was that he was definately strung out, even though he denied it at the time. of course a year later, it was confirmed by his death. stupid, very stupid) anyway, can't recall why i went to see tandream the 2nd time (other than being under the influence of recreational inhancers i guess) both shows were some of the sleepiest moments i can recall in my live muzak experience. very soporific.
vt - i rarely feel diminished at all if i pass on live performances. so crowded, so loud, so Inconvenient
don't quite git your point! all of the elements described above is what makes live muzak soooooooo appealing! the 1st time i ever went to a general admission show was in portland or. in nyc, everything is reserved seating, so you spent your time waiting on line when the tickest went on sale. camp out all night, git up to the winder, buy your seats, then go home, and take a shower to remove the funk and grime. then in two months, go to the venue minutes before the concert was to begin, take your seats, enjoy the show, and that was it. in portland (and seattle as well), it was a completely different deal. get you gen ad. tickets whenever, then the day of the show, go camp out at 4 am, wait all day, until they open the doors 2 hours before show time, dash like hell (inches from gettin trampled by the stampede behind ya!), scramble to the 1st row, and then fling your body across as many seats as you can stretch yourself out over, and then defend those seats from the thousands right behind you who all have the same purpose! somehow the show was always more enjoyable this way, as you certainly felt that you worked hard for those seats, and no matter who the act (my girlfriend back then was a hugh styx fan.....uuuuggghhh, so i even went through the above drill for those losers), you always remebered the show fondly. and of course after the show, trust me, anthrax got's nuthin on the slime. dirt and filth that was growing off your clothes and body, from the all day affair!way way way beyond gross! i remeber in the summer of 79, my girlfriend came to ny and i had gotten tickest to the both the no nukes concert (springsteen, jackson browne, c,s,n, bonnie rait, james taylor, etc.), and the who show (their 1st since the death of moon), her comment after both of these shows was that they were awright, but she felt if you didn't spend the day as described above for a gen adm. show, well.....it just didn't feel like rock and roll!

Thanks R2! I await VT's judgement on them...
I mean that because the computer is processing the sound file instead of playing it raw, the rest of the system pauses for like 1/3rd of a second every few moments. I don't want to bring yet another CD player into my room, I've got half a dozen already. Besides, I'm not music's biggest fan. As for the Wave, if I ever turn on a radio again, I'll be sure to AVOID THAT STATION LIKE THE PLAGUE! If that station were any more vanilla, I'd be an albino. Between the Wave, the commercials, and Star 98.6 ("the normal channel"), I can't listen to radio for more than a few minutes. When I worked at a job-type job, we had STAR on all day, I could set my watch by their schedule of the same music day in and day out, and when I moved to Arizona for a little while, that job had the Phoenix STAR on and it was the same music!!!!!!!
I actually don't love music in concert either, I prefer the polish you get with studio-recorded music. There is something to be said for certain types of off-the-cuff natural music when it's live, but in general, I don't do lots of concerts.
Yes, KCRW was the Santa Monica College (no "community" in the name, even they they are a community college) public radio station, and those are some types of free tix they gave away when I was a youthful type, though there were lots of free reggae tix too (my dad even won a djembe drum from them back when our phones were the last on the block with a DIAL).
One thing that's good about leather, it didn't let the puke seep into my clothes. It would have been a LOT worse if she had puked on my back while I wasn't wearing that jacket. :p
GSJ, my last CD of License to Ill was worn out by my cd-walkman that I took to work every morning at 8am, so I know EXACTLY what you're talking about, "Fight for your Right (to party)" followed directly by "No Sleep Till Brooklyn" gets you up and running better than a coffee enema... perhaps I've said too much. ;) KIDDING!
Wow, the Kingdome sounds like one of the worst venues in the world! I've never understood the fascination with the Greek Theater a few blocks up the street from me because the dirt absorbs a ton of the sound, but it sounds like the Kingdome seems 10 times worse since you're getting too MUCH noise instead of too little. It's probably good that it's gone.
I think the thing about '80s music that made it so much more appealing to go to live shows was that the music was so much more about the rock atmosphere than actual music. I still pitty anybody who went to a Styxx concert though. ;)

three freakin' times
the only amusing moment from any of those shows that i recall, was during some song (yeah, like i'm to even know what song.....we are tawkin styx here:rolleyes: ) they dropped thousands of pig pong balls from the ceiling onto the crowd, and of course everyone close enough to the stage, began hurling these ping pong balls back up at the band. well after the umpteenth ping pong ball bounced off the fret of one of the guitarist instrument (as i recall, i thinl his name was jt  , or something like that!), he stopped playing in a rage, and started screaming profanities down at us in the 1st row. of course all this did was insure that we would throw more ping pong balls with renewed gusto:p , and he would keep screamin' at us to stop! (vicious cycle), this went on for some time, until all the ping pong balls were exhausted. as i recall, in retaliation, the band did not come out for an encore that night (thank gawd!).:)

i love the tiger striping of the narn dreadnaught. grrrrrrrrrrr!:) :)

JT - re: "I've never understood the fascination with the Greek Theater a few blocks up the street from me because the dirt absorbs a ton of the sound.."
-- I always thought the "feel" of the Greek was sorta like the H-wood Bowl, just in how it was setup at the entry area, and sorta-kinda-if-you-squint, how the seating is setup. And you could equally easily scam a free concert from either, just by hanging out on the hills around their stages. Speaking of TD, they have a live album recorded at the Greek. I had a buddy who lived around the city for a lot longer than I, and he used to climb trees right at the edge of the Greek and sit in them to hear the shows. In fact, there was a whole culture of 'tree people' who did this regularly.
GSJ - re: TD "both shows were some of the sleepiest moments i can recall in my live muzak experience. very soporific."
-- I'd be dishonest if I didn't admit to being underwhelmed at the lack of stage presence during the TD show at the Civic. It was basically three guys sitting at three consoles that looked sorta like a cross between Scotty's work area in Star Trek TOS and what old-time telephone switchboard operators used to work at, with lots o' blinking lights. Remember this was before the advent of the PC, not even the tandy with 64kb ram, no hard drive and only an external floppy drive. I think TD's entire "stage show" consisted of draping some spider-webby-looking fabric from the corners of their consoles up to the light racks above the stage, and a feeble attempt at a laser flashing to the music.
But having said all that, I still enjoyed the shows due to the tons of hours spent meditating (& medicating??), listening to them at home. Much like J.-M. Jarre, if you listened closely enough there was some very cool stuff going on in and around the monotonous foreground of their music (IMO).
10-19-2001, 11:15 PM
GSJ, that ping pong ball story shows the REAL quality of live music... harassing the band! ;) What were they thinking?!? They may as well have handed out rotten tomatoes. :D
Darn it, I'm a huge Babylon 5 fan and I never could afford the MMs when they were out, and so now I don't have any B5 MMs and GSJ is gushing over them. :( Only things I have from B5 are the figures.
Swaffy, I can't imagine the lawsuits that could come from climbing trees around the Greek these days, but I have noticed that they recently mowed down a whole bunch of 'em right around there, so maybe that's why.

"like J.-M. Jarre, if you listened closely enough there was some very cool stuff going on in and around the monotonous foreground of their music"
-in that case, i'm surprised you don't find glass more rewarding; he was an acknowledged influence on tandream, floyd, jarre etc.
"sorcerer, as well as their album stratosfear"
-i've had Stratosfear since '83, & really dig a five-minute-long bucolic passage somewhere on it :) i have their Theif score; happen to know if Sorcerer's anythin like that?
gsj: "boing. . . boom TCHAK"
-needn't bother, i already got that album (as well as Robots, Computer World, '92's The Mix And slammin 12" remixes of "telephone call" and "tour de france" )
so you like kraftwerk-type stuff eh? duly noted re notions for your tape :)
"as a kid, i didn't get rothko either"
-so, you gonna share that apocryphal story with everyone here? ;)
-yeah i know ;) just got a coupla stubborn problems to work out re your mixtape. btw thanx in advance for b5 #6 packaging :)
jt: "I await VT's judgement on them"
-i've gone thru about 2/3s of them so far. though a key is included, what i find most rewarding about them is how their broad landscapes of detail oscillate in the mind's eye between literal representations of vast technological habitats, and a futuristic take on islamic mosaic & labyrinth patterns (meant to depict the infinite) one gets pleasurably lost in, giving rise to a heady, utopian abstraction similar to the vibe occasionally given off by the first trek movie :) upon closer examiniation, one can see a number of redundancies, "cheats" and random (albeit usually symmetrical) element placements, the resorting to all of which i suposse was inevitable unless they'd allowed themselves 30 years to complete these things :) three interesting revelations:
-who knew main shuttlebay was That big??
-according to the External plan, it turns out those big, blue-lit windows behind main shuttlebay are the roof of an Arboretum; surprisingly (and disappointingly), i haven't been able to find acknowledgment of this in the Internal deck configurations :(
whose perverse notion was it to put troi & riker's quarters right next to each other?? :o
"When I worked at a job-type job"
-as opposed to what you do Now, which IS? :)
"I'll be sure to AVOID THAT STATION LIKE THE PLAGUE"
-hmm, maybe kwve's changed some since i sampled em while staying in LA for a coupla weeks during the 84 olympics :( oh well, cool streaming audio's available at my local kuvo.org, two highlights of which are their "brazilian fantasy" show from 6-8 pm sundays and "so what" acid jazz show from midnight-3am friday nights (all mountain times) :) other than kuvo in cold cloudy weather, & our local classical station on snowy mormings, i too have sworn off radio :p
geez jt, why dincha tell me earlier you were interested in b5mms? when i've brought em up previously you were always so blase about em i'd figured you just weren't interested :(

VT - re: "i'm surprised you don't find glass more rewarding"
-- I will have to give Phil another try....
re: "happen to know if Sorcerer's anythin like that?"
-- To the extent that you can call ANY of TD's albums different from one another, I think Thief was a bit edgier (as well as being from a film I thought was really good), and a better product.
But my favorite TD album, hands down, is Force Majeure.
JT - re: "they recently mowed down a whole bunch of [trees] right around there"
-- That sux. I thought you said you lived up around Camino Palmero, but recently you said you lived down the street from the Greek. So, are you around Franklin/Los Feliz/Fern Dell, or are you back towards Franklin/LaBrea? FYI, my mom lives up N. Beachwood. Sounds like you grew up (arguably) in the area. Did you go high school in h-wood or StaMonica? If so, would you be willing to say what year you gradjeeated? Just trying to see if we may have unknowingly crossed paths at some time.
10-22-2001, 02:34 AM
VT, I knew that the main shuttlebay was that big, the episode with Kelsey Grammer as captain of the Bozeman, the ship that smashed into the Ent-D over and over ("Cause and Effect", season 5) showed the main shuttlebay opened the only time on the show, and there were several type-7 shuttlecraft being blown out it, they looked tiny.
As for those blue windows at the rear of the saucer section, I can't remember any other blueprints that even tried to give them name, I just checked the ST:TNG Technical Manual and they didn't list the arboretum at all, so I suppose it COULD be there (though I don't buy it personally). Still, it seems like those windows were added simply as decoration. ;) I have a feeling it was Riker's idea to put those 2 quarters together. :D
I really felt frustrated at missing so many B5 sets when I had the chance to get them that I totally put them out of my mind. I never had enough $$$ to pick them up on the aftermarket, so it became something I switched off.
Swaffy, I live in Los Feliz, between Franklin and the Greek. Strangely, I don't even know where "Camino Palmero" is... I grew up all over Los Angeles, from West LA to the northeast valley to a block east of LAX (man, was that a loud area, right under the main flight path) to Santa Monica. My mom used to live on Beachwood as a teenager, now she lives on Cheremoya. I did half a year at University High School in West LA, then took the CHSPE (the state version of the GED) and split, never graduated; my grad year would have been '93 though... I think (it's been a while ;)).
10-22-2001, 04:01 AM
Hmm, U.S.S. Bozeman was a pretty cool ship, it was Soyuz class, Miranda class variant, that would've made a really cool micro. :D
10-22-2001, 09:26 AM
re: my comment "Just trying to see if we may have unknowingly crossed paths at some time."
Um.... unless you were one of the other kids at Chuck E. Cheese's while I was there with my son, I don't think we were crossing any paths. You were 5 or 6 years old when I graduated from North Hollywood HS (also went to Grant for a year).
(JT's - "my grad year would have been '93...")

meanwhile, here's what i currently have in mind re "making it worth your while" for a "mediaguy" like yourself: i'm doing a partial purge of a sw/trek print media "scrapbook" which goes back about a decade or so. some items are scifi-themed publications that had maybe 1 article or page i remain interested in & tore out (don't worry- so long as you don't look at the table of contents, what Is there'll keep you so busy you'll never miss what Ain't there ;) ). others are articles extracted from non-scifi pubs like newspapers, entertainment weekly, tv guide's agt issue etc. seems like a waste to just throw out this high-production-value stuff just cuz I never was/am no longer interested in it, and you know my distaste for waste :) based on what i know of your emphases i already have some notion of what you'd find interesting (articles/pix of tos castmembers, b5 etc), but in going thru some of this stuff last night the heft took me by surprise  i'll send any/all you want, but in case it helps avoid unwanteds &/or redundancies, lemme ask if you already have/know you wouldn't want any of the following:
-paramount's st the magazine #1
-swofc mag #30 (se jabba on cover)
-stofc mags: oct 94, jul 95, feb 99
(note: i also have merch catalogs contained within above fc zines, but have extracted them cuz i infer you'd share my disdain for their redundant waste-of-spaceness; but if i might be wrong, lmk & i'll enclose :)
-sw imp tech journal
-sw reb tech journal
-stng tech journal (nice companion to r2's blueprinks ;) )
-stng makeup journal
also, lmk if you have interest in any of the following subject matter (in the scifi pubs, sometimes a sw, trek or b5 article's on one side of the page and the other side's the start of another article. so the question become whether to include that adjacent stuff):
also lmk if none of this sounds appealing & i'll go back2 drawing board :)
11-09-2001, 03:06 AM
Sounds like interesting stuff of ST, SW, and B5 lit, and as for the "other", I dig Sliders and Seaquest, so send that lit along too. I guess I'll have to learn to read now. ;) BTW, some media has come with non-media items in the past... from time to time. :D

FYI, I got the episode 2 trailer (breathing) at last BC3, on Jonathon Woss Film 2001. I just wish I'd used a better quality video to record it. (anyone see the variation on the Retublic?) :)

VT, I have committed to a mixtape for GSJ, but never caught the suggestion of one for JT. JT, if you want one, just lemme know. The online mixtape review/critique sounds good to me. If there's any more interest in it, I'm up for it. Good to know you received the danglees. Maybe you can bring 'em to the next VulcantouchToyforceTeatime a la R2dee2 and get some pics posted? What are these AF figures from B'jr of which you spoke?
11-11-2001, 11:43 PM
just thought you mighta took a look at b'jr's collection (http://fan.starwars.com/sabretoothcollection/index.html) at some point & sed to yourself, "he's got that many of such & such a ship? i wonder if he'd spare an xtra figure it came with, mine's missing/busted/melted/whatever ;) anyhoo he's partial to imperials so i hope you'd maybe want sumthin like a reb pilot instead, he ain't too fonda them :p

(un)holy guacamole!!! I had not seen the pics of this collection before. That is staggering. I've done well at keeping my SWAF figures intact, with the exception of a Vader that got chewed up by the vacuum cleaner once and a green a-wing pilot. But I was able to order replacements for those back when Galoob was still in business. Is there anything in my meager list of availables that you or B'jr are interested in? It would be hard to imagine after seeing those pics.

11-12-2001, 10:10 AM
i have the following qextion, is b'jr partial to anything in particular? regarding lines (potf, mm, af, st, sw, aliens, etc) or even a particular vehicle?
his collection is so vast:eek: , i for one am glad to see that he opens and plays with everything!
it ain't like it's keeping me up at night (though i was a tad insomniacacle last night:zzz: ), i was just wondering if he had a particular favorite.
np: ez roc - ain't too many
11-12-2001, 12:41 PM
i've found it hard to discern predictable patterns in b'jr's metier, other than he likes quantity (duh), wants more apc mms to put into the bellies of his af dropships, shares with me a particular fondness for tail-ender stmms (hence his appreciation of my separation & arrangement of those into their own formation (http://fan.starwars.com/sabretoothcollection/files/aut_4171bjcollectionmm_7f.jpg) for r2's visit) and, something i find particualrly admirable, he likes shrewd opportunities. for example, he wasn't too hot on acquiring over a dozen alpha tyderiums or a half-dozen potj bwings until they we found em for $7 and $20 each respectively :) aside from that, he often surprises me re what "art supplies" he deems desirable for his ever-growing mosaic. he pretty much always digs free stuff, that's for sure :greedy:
jt: for what it's worth, there's lotsa purty pictures you won't exactly hafta read :stupid: either way, satisfaxion guaranteed like i sez, i trust you'll lmk if this stuff don't make yer day. add'l quextions: do u have sote comix 1-6 exc. #5? or dark empire (not sure which issue; the one w/fett bein ambushed by chewsie on cover)? also, do u have "return of the one-eye" spoof comic? also, "why are these jawas smiling?" issue of swofc mag? lmk :) meanwhile, looks like u fogrot to answer quextion re swaffytape :sur:

Oh, I didn't see that post, that's why I didna respond. I'm not a "music" sorta guy anymore, so much so that I no longer own a working tape player yet I still have a huge amount of old tapes. Thanks for the offer though Swaffo.
I have all the SOTE comics I want, and I have all the Dark Empire ones I want too (I want no DE comics, I have no DE comics - perfection realized). I do have the "Jawas" issue of the SWFC mag... somewhere... and I have no idea what "return of the one-eye" is, so there's a good chance I don't have it ;).

as i expected, this woulda been Perfectly fashionable in a table-fleet about a month ago :( on other hand, it's more detailed than i expected, and more satisfying. nice to finally make up for the fact that i failed to notice this lil moth when it retailed 3-4 years ago  its overdesigned, bellicose visual heft recalls post-cameron vidgame aesthetics, yet retains a surprising number of satisfying viewing angles. sometimes more is more :) thanx agin jt-

Still can't quite come to terms with that "Attack of the Clones" subtitle, though!
11-16-2001, 08:47 AM
And now there's a NEW trailer out on SW.com! Personally, I don't like it nearly as much as I did the DVD "Mystery" trailer.
They said "Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones" on the news today and it reminded me just how much I HATE that title. :(

Make sure you turn the music off the left hand pane "music off" and then click on Vaders head at the bottom - make sure your speakers are on.
BritC, no probs, I was going to go to the Entertainer to get your Who-er droid so I guess you paid £1.00 only.

Finally picked up the blueprints. They're awesome, but unfortunately also falling apart in the center, so I won't be able to enjoy them but a few more times.
As for the pounds and pounds of extras (Media rate is amazing, this thing weight a friggin' metric ton and still cost less than a buck to ship), I'm afraid to say I have a lot more of this stuff than I thought. Of note, I have complete copies of the TNG ending TV guide, the 25 anniversary Entertainment Weekly, several other Ent Weekly (I didn't realize I had 'em till I saw the covers sent along), and most specific, I have a copy of that TNG Tech Guide magazine. However, I do appreciate the effort on your part VT, thanks for the free blueprints and other nifty stuff. :)
12-01-2001, 12:36 PM
. . .& since i don't seem to hear Overwhelming satisfaction on your part (gotta read between the lines w/you tactful types  ), i'll see what else i can scare up. want some more VinTage tradin cards? i found a few more. also, sw galaxy mag, other insiders & trekcomms, comix etc? i can't recall all offhand :)
re blueprinks, i too noticed their fragility but i don't think r2 or i handled em rough, i think they're just made that way. maybe they're intended for wall display rather than repeated handling (assuming, of course, you got that kinda spare wallspace  )
lmk if you can't find somethin to do w/stuff you already have (anyone else here want?) & i'll take care of it; wouldn't want em to be in your way or go to waste :) took its time gettin there; actually i think shipping was $3.27 (metering And stamps were both used, incl. a special stamp i trust you noticed? :) ) when you earlier said "big heavy pkg w/no return address (http://www.sirstevesguide.com/vbportal/forums/showthread.php?postid=22231#post22231)" i played along for the gag, but thought i Had return-addressed it, no?
did you ever get that ew special all-trek ish that came out in 94 that had the "trek a-z" comic, and the kevin pollak "how to imitate shatner" guide? :D but why would anyone keep a Whole Issue of tv guide after all these years? :p
not much, just a thrift-store sote slave 1 for b'jr, $1.49 :) also, hey jdah, i mistakenly got tokyo joe a potj obi training gear (he actually wanted jedi armor or cold weather gear or some such :p ); do you need it? if so i won't return it to store :) and hey bc3, anything else i might be able to get u when i get the reliant? :)

I wasn't accusing you or R2 of mishandling the blueprints, I understand that they were folded in that box for a long time and decayed after folding and unfolding over the years. I just don't know how I'm going to stop it from happening again, I don't want to tape them because the ink seems to be quite runny and tape accelerates that, and I don't have enough room to frame and hang them, though I wish I did! Maybe I'll do like the posters at Sam Goody, where they're shrinkwrapped onto stiff cardboard, but I don't know where I'd get that done.
As for vintage cards, my dad was clearing out his storage locker at the old apartment and besides finding a sizable quantity of my old space Lego pieces (yay!), he also found a large cache of vintage SW cards and stickers from my childhood, so I don't think I need anymore of that right now. ;) I'll send back the stuff I already have, cards and other, next time I get a chance.
The shipping is very interesting, I didn't realize those stamps weren't just for show, but I did notice all the cool stamps, especially the Trek one - an awesome stamp, they should do a whole series of them! The return address had no name, I was going by what the PO was telling me as I didn't have it in-hand when I made that comment. They said it had no return addy.
I did indeed get that all-trek EW from '94, I just can't believe it's been nearly 8 years! I remember seeing the ultimate Trek room, inside there was a coin bank shaped like the TNG desktop computer and I pined away for that for... 8 years. ;) I used to keep magazines intact because they don't disintergrate as quickly that way. However, now I just slice out what I want, such as the recent Enterprise (NX-01) mini-fold-out and throw the rest away, since www.gist.com has much better TV listings anyway, and they're free.
Obi-Wan Training gear is the Jedi Armor one, though the "Cold weather gear" one is a different figure.

JT, you could have them laminated and then just use thumbtacks or something to hold them up on the wall.
12-03-2001, 08:20 AM
JT...sorry about the blueprints:( They were given to me a few years ago and I think I opened the top couple of sheets once, but the set has been sitting in a box since. I never really looked at them and just gave them to VT gratis, since I knew he could always use them as trading fodder. So sorry for the dissappointment there. At least you can look at them and see if a better set is worth pusuing.
12-03-2001, 03:02 PM
-no hurry, if they're not too much in the way save your postage & hang onto em for now, & in the meantime "another solution'll present itself" :)
re hanging within limited space, maybe get one of them multi-poster hinged retail displays, like a poster rolodex :)
in almost the same month tv guide also came out with a fun all-trek mag, w/reprints of articles & photos goin back to the 60s, & a paglia piece called "mr. data, you made me love you" (tng was her fave while never even mentioning ds9; one of several issues on which she & i disagree :o )
thanx for armor/training clearup :) i have a Lot of loose non-sw legos (all are at least 8 years old); any speciallized pcs you might want some xtras of? specify color & shape (maybe link me to some pix) & i'll get to em next chance i get (they're Buried in deep storage :o ). meanwhile, anyone here think they might want them xtra sw/trek items jt already has? if so, i'll advise he sends to you (i'll compensate him for shipping later when i send him lego xtras), then i'll send you add'l stuff i found, then maybe you can do me some small favor sometime in the future :)

I could do this and stack them in a corner I suppose. Any idea on how much that would cost? I'd love to continue enjoying these in the future.
R2, please don't apologize, nobody has to apologize for the blueprints, I like the blueprints, nobody is to blame for their condition, it's just a statement of fact that they're deteriorating and if I want to keep them (which I do), then I better figure out something. I really like them and I appreciate the low cost in receiving them, but I am not gonna drop $35 on ANOTHER set that's gonna deteriorate. ;) I'd rather salvage these while I can, I guess lamination would be the best route. Please don't anybody feel bad about the blueprints.
VT, that's an interesting idea, but I'm afraid I don't have enough FLOOR space for that! My meager apartment is just too small, I've got all sorts of wall hangings waiting to go up, like a fantastic numbered photo reprint of Walt Disney in the castle a few days before Disneyland's opening, a couple of the old Star Tours posters (though I wish I still had the whole set :()
Interesting about that TV Guide mag, it seems familiar, but I'm not sure I have it. Of course, if it was written back in the first season of DS9, I can understand why it wouldn't be mentioned at that time, the show didn't hit its stride till the 3rd season.
Glad I could help with the armor/training issue, it might have been a big disaster if you gave away Tokyo Joe's figure. As for Lego, I turn my nose up at no pieces whatsoever. Windshields, bricks, doors... if I can't find a use for it now, in a few months, it'll get built into SOMETHING. I thought I'd never use up that 3 pounds a friend sent me, but I used up nearly all of 'em. Right now, I've completely run out of black 2x1 plates (plates are flat, one Lego-stud tall, bricks are 3 studs tall) and have been improvising with some pretty whack stuff, also I've run out of every sloped brick in the known universe.
12-04-2001, 04:20 AM
I don't think it costs that much, having them professionaly done probably wouldn't be that expensive, or you could do it yourself, in some hobby shops and places like Wal-Mart should have some laminating kits or something along those lines. If any of your friends are experianced with doing stuff like that they would probably know where to get it or if they have some.

. . .are they flat on top, or do they have the two studs on top?
tv guide ish came out in fall '94 (between ds9's 2nd & 3rd season) & had all 3 captains pictured on front. what i mean is, i've Never seen paglia mention ds9 :frus: but she has trashed kate mulgrew & voy's sets while singing 7o9's praises :sur:
i see everyone's falling all over themselves in their enthusiasm to claim the jt-already-has xtras :p What are some of those again, jt? :)

VT - thanks much for that link with mention of Paglia's book. 'Twas timely in that I'm currently reading Christina Hoff-Sommers's book The War Against Boys which is about how feminist lobbyist groups used patently false "research data" to successfully spark changes in U.S. educational policies at all levels of schools with lopsided preferences towards girls and disasterous results for boys.
Next in my non-fiction reading list will have to be Paglia's "Sexual Personae: Art and Decadence from Nefertiti to Emily Dickinson."
12-06-2001, 04:25 AM
Any actual dollar amounts for these in laminating? (nobody I know has ever done this stuff, so this will be the great experiment... actually, a page from my large desk calendar will be the first attempt.)
As for extras, I'll make a list next time I get a chance to look in the box, probably Friday morning or so.
12-06-2001, 06:04 AM
If you do it yourself, probably well below at $5 or around there, if you get professionals to do it, probably a little more. Don't qoute me on those though. ;) All in all it should be very inexpensive and not hard one bit, and the result should be good. :) Unless you want to take them out later that is. :D
12-06-2001, 03:50 PM
in that you pretty much get only one chance to lay the adhesive laminate squarely on the blueprints. If you're inclined to try, you can use a roll of transparent Rubbermaid film, which is usually easily found in the section of your favorite discount or hardware store's section of rolls of shelf liners. The backing, which you can see through because the film is transparent (duh! ), had grid marks making it easy to trim to size. The trick is laying it out and getting the air bubbles out without wrinkling the paper. A rolling pin sometimes works well.
I'd still strongly recommend asking a local Kinkos for a quote before trying the self-laminating route.

in addition to above dvd (which maybe doesn't count as a huntbag cuz a pal gave me it for xmas), also found bryan ferry's Bete Noire cd for $2, jamiroquai's Synkronized cd for $3, director baz luhrmann's Something for Everyone cd for $1 and peter murphy's Love Hysteria lp for $1 (goth is one of them noxious things that Require you wait until every annoying trendoid has dropped it before you get anywhere near it, am i right people? :p ). also the latest issue of urb (http://urb.com/) cuz it has a cover story on youknowwho  it'd be nice if i had some sf to report other than a used $1 bwing model for b'jr. oh wait, there is: thanx to a tip from darthegg (http://www.sirstevesguide.com/vbportal/forums/showthread.php?threadid=1381) i bagged two r2q5s at srp in case anyone here needs :)

House of Yes - I liked it a lot.
Bullets Over Broadway - Also liked this, and I think I forgot to credit it as such in another post where we were discussing WA's more recent films.
Hudsucker Proxy - [said in vintage Wayans/Grier style] "Hated it!"
Just lemme know what is needed to cover VTclub shipping and I can mail or Paypal the amount. Sounds fun!

but speakin of flix, when are we gonna start seein the rest of you mmers at
the Hump (http://www.sirstevesguide.com/vbportal/forums/showthread.php?threadid=2216&pagenumber=1), ya humps? ;) whatsamatta, doncha like & have any thoughts on movies? r2? bc3? lbc? s43? ltb? jg? baal?
jdah: you mean you only recently saw r4m9 notice? looks great don't it  i always wanted one of these, i'm gonna pretend he's fett's astomech (likewise, i decided q5 is tiepilot's, b1 is corusguard's, rocketd2 is atatdriver's :) ) i was surprised to read r4m9 was an Imp droid, i'd always figured he was bein hauled off along w/the reb troops. hope his mousedroid's not as lame & outofscale as the dsd's one was, otherwise i'll try to trade it for the new reb trooper's pistol (i wouldn't mind one of these figures if, a la imp gunner, they'd not made his sculpt look so damn Dorky :stupid: )
jt: clear head?? what where? :D

I dunno about only a 2 of 5. Maybe a 3. I enjoyed it, but I didn't think it was awesome or anything. The ending left me a bit unfulfilled, but it was overall somewhat surreal and I had a fun time with it.

for me: binocs i took from 1 of 3 potj sandies i found ws, $.45 (cost of shipping bousshhelm to lbc for this 3-way trade :) ); gave em to my commtech stormie
figure-size flash speeder for b'jr, $.59 at thrift store
4 amanamen at westland kmart, srp
4 each of han/chewy and luke/leia 2pax at 3rd & wadsworth walmart, srp
a dozen each of bucktooth pilot luke & han w/white belt, $3.20 at westland target
and about 10 each of 12" dsd and dsts, $7.40 at same target
too bad no mms to report :( btw i listened to that bazluhr cd i got (post 162 above; music from Strictly Ballroom, Romeo+Juliet etc) & didn't like it (contrary to its title, not Quite for everyone it would seem); anyone here want? jdah maybe?

if so, lmk how many of each. assuming they're still there, you pay purch price+shipping :)
01-28-2002, 05:28 PM
sighted following potj: boomered bdroid, sabe, ketwol, welder chewie etc, $5 each. jdah, ltb, jt, ws, r2: lmk if interested in any of these, since either your upcoming pkgs have enough room to include or we'll likely meet up this spring (btw swaffy, thanx for chicago hancock tower invite for this thursday, wish i could make it :( ).
i also found a 1980 yoda figure backing card. not in Perfect shape but pretty good, so if anyone mentioned above wants it, say so here & i'll throw it in :)
for b'jr: a coupla Matrix Sentinel figs for $5 each (he already has 3, so this makes 5). also a $1 o-o-p silver spawn robot of the same make ws gave b'jr a while back (in thanx for giving him one of his af dropships). they also had an o-o-p aqua alien but the betty "mm" was nowhere to be found :(
for me, 3 cds: sakamoto's Snake Eyes score and thomas newman's cool Erin Brockovich score (kinda like his American Beauty score but piano- instead of vibraphone-based), $2 each :) and an '01 cd by some group callin themselves Edie Sedgwick  ~a dozen short tracks all named after stars (winona ryder, hilary swank, faye dunaway, sean young, sean connery, edie etc). the music's feh but with a title like that, i was willing to take a chance for $1 (kinda like when i found a feh jackie o opera cd for $.69 :) )

How much for the Yoda backing card? I can't really afford/don't need any of those figures right now but I've got $12 set aside for the shipping.
01-30-2002, 11:39 AM
jawa card is FREE ltb, i'll throw it in w/your pkg :) btw, have you collected any sw or st trading cards, & if so which series?
ws: $5 potj figs include SABE, KETWOL, BOOMERED BDROID, WELDY CHEWY, 2-GUN LEIA and maybe a coupla others from those waves (not aurra, in case wondering). lmk which/how many you want :) btw, congrats on reading this thred :p ;)
01-30-2002, 10:56 PM
Look at the time of the post, how am I supposed to be fully awake at that time? :p Yeah sure, if no one else wants the backing card, I'll take it, I've got a few of the backing cards and thought if I can't have all the vintage figures on their cards, might as well just try to get the figures and cards seperately. :D
I sometimes collect the CCG cards and the new Evolution cards. Haven't gotten many ST cards, just a few Voyager packs of collector cards at a comic shop.
02-06-2002, 09:46 PM
found b'jr a mint o-o-p dc slave 1 for $3, didn't know he already had one, so if anyone here needs he might be willin to part with, dependin on what you might be able to trade for it :)
sighted a $20 af sst tanker bug- not sure if that's a good price, but the box has seen better days.
traded b'jr a buncha stuff i didn't want (including the playmates ent-e bc3's captyacht came from), and got from him one of them supercool collector fleet isds  its detail pops more than the model, and unlike the model, it's prepainted, pre-assembled and lights up :D i've yet to see the cf ssd o-o-p, i wonder what it looks like outta the box?
another thing i traded him was this hothbase model that comes with, among other things, mm-sized models of 3 xwings, 4 snowspeeders and 3 ywings. the thing is, the ywings are not standard design; for whatever reason, the designers of this kit clearly did not have access to accurate ywing specs and just improvised. the resultant ship looks kinda like if ywings were a ship featured in the original star trek  my point is, an mm collector like bc3 might find this ywing VarianT an interesting addition to his collection, so if bc3 wishes i'll ask b'jr if i can enclose one in his upcoming piggybacked-with-jdah's pkg, as thanx for bc3's patience :) that'll make one for bc3, one for b'jr and one for me

sorry to be annoying, but I am going to repost here my (final, hopefully) wish list (which I already posted in another thread), because this is definitely the right place for it, since this is the thread for "miracles"! :D
I do not want to bother anyone, but just in case you find something in the following list please let me know (and we will find a good solution together ;) ):
1. Snowspeeder from Action Fleet Series Alpha with rebel pilot and gunner (possibly first release, with clear square on top of canopy, thanks to r2 for the description of Alpha Snowspeeder variations),
2. Landspeeder display stand and AT-ST display stand from KB Exclusive 2-Pack,
3. Cloud Car pilot Action Fleet figure,
4. A-wing Action Fleet internal hinge,
5. Imperial Shuttle Tydirium Action Fleet internal hinge,
6. Trade Federation Tank (exploding turret) and Trade Federation MTT (large version, firing) from Trade Federation MTT/Naboo Battlefield Mega Deluxe Action Set.
Keep in mind I do not need MIB items, my vehicles and ships are all loose (except for E1 collections XI, XII, and XIII, thanks to bc3, which will remain packaged  ).
Thanks in advance to anybody who will help me. :)
02-07-2002, 11:45 AM
jg: as i recall, a few months back i supplied s43, lbc or someone else here with a landsp/atst 2-pack they'd asked for but didn't need, might wanna check with them :) i also recall sighting a nmip alpha snowsp locally for $16, but i'm not sure about that clear square thing, lmk more info & i can check. also ignorant about "internal hinge" variants, enlighten me & i can keep eye open. also, if someone can direct me to a pic of cc pilot figure i might be able to find; a source i know has a buncha loose af figures for ~$2 each.
finally, if that mtt you're after is af: as i recall bc3 got a mega deluxe set when he got me a turning-turret aat mm; if so maybe he still has the rest of the set left over, & you two can arrange sumthin :)
weather's unseasonably warm last few days; am i gonna have to cut my flix-watchin season short & start my huntin season early? i hope not, i still got a buncha flix i wanna git to :)

VT....a pic of the hinge difference on the Alpha Snowspeeder dwells HERE (http://www.twinsuntimes.com/toyforce/IMAGES/seriesalphasnowspeederloosewithfigures_9words.jpg)
02-08-2002, 04:39 AM
thank you for your help! :D
If anyone who received the landsp/atst 2-pack would like to depart from the two special display stands please let me know (of course I can pay for them).
r2 has been very kind to post the excellent picture about the Alpha Snowspeeder variation (thank you r2). I am interested in the first release (possibly).
I am also including a zip file with a picture of the Cloud Car pilot (it is the one on the left, near Lobot, in the Cloud-Car packaging) and a couple of pictures of the A-wing internal hinge variation. Unfortunately I do not have any picture of the Imperial Shuttle internal hinge variation (but it is actually the picture on the front of the Imperial Shuttle packaging, which normally differs from the packaged item itself).
About the MTT, I am actually looking for the same turning-turret aat you got plus the large version MTT (but still MM size) from the same MTT/Naboo Battlefield Mega Deluxe Action Set.
If you, vt, or anybody else can help me, please let me know, I will appreciate. :)
02-09-2002, 03:54 PM
can't open jg's zip file though :( meanwhile, about a month back i scored b'jr two mip r2q5s ($6.88 each +tax), and it turns out he only wanted one, so anyone here wants lmk, otherwise i'll trade it for a cold-weather obiwan (or is it cold-weather quigon?) tokyojoe still needs :)

if your source is still available I will be very interested to get the Cloud Car Pilot and Jek Porkins AF figures. :)
Here you can find a couple of links to the pictures of the Twin-Pod Cloud Car (http://www.rebelscum.com/photo.asp?image=toys/mmafcloud.jpg), where you can find a Cloud Car Pilot near to Lobot, and of the X-Wing Red 6 (http://www.rebelscum.com/photo.asp?image=toys/mmafxwingred6.jpg), where you can find Jek Porkins (the fat and unlucky X-Wing pilot). bitta bad news jg: i checked the $16 alpha af snowspeeder i sighted, and it Isn't clear upper window :(
jdah: ok, i'd already been holding one r2q5 for you, now i'll hold this second one for you :) btw, since i'll be sending bc3's pkg to his us pal, your box has a bit more room: anything else i can git ya? any $5 figures listed above? (remember i've prev. got you boomerdroid & sabe)

it's up to bc, but if he dosen't want to carry things back home, your more than welcome to sned it to me, and i'll forward it with my package.
i'd send the af to nc, but alas, the trapazoidal box is a bit cumbersome. (unless'n o' course you want me to send it to nc, bc3)
let me know!
02-18-2002, 01:49 PM
If it's OK with you can you hold onto the Jek X Wing until you're doing another trans-Atlantic?
Its just that I've had 2 bad AF experiences in less than a year with hand luggage (as I keep my AF's boxed) - trashed 1 of my Viragos that I bagged in the Canary Islands and wrecked a TIE Inter that was bagged in Amsterdam in September.
So I think VT's small, unboxed items will be OK sent to NC.
Is this OK?

. . .he switches to a new one which, i'm guessing, is a bandmember from los straitjackets (http://www.straitjackets.com/)? :crazed:
as reported elsewhere, $4 Figure Archive (above) has been claimed. anyhoo, a beauty day yesterday but wintry today, so i hunted yesterday & am makin my baggin report today:
-another $5 mip commtech droideka for b'jr
-$17 moebius "2001 Apres Jesus Christ" illustrated book for me (srp $22? not sure cuz france-published)
-$25 tron lightcycle & figure for b'jr (cycle designed by syd mead, costume by moebius)
-used serge gainsbourg Comic Strip cd for $1, which would make a great companion for gsj's recently-bagged MM Paris cd, but i'm still deciding what to do w/this one :o
-used cds for me ( * = haven't heard, but at this price i'm happy to take the chance):
$1 each: thomas dolby's Gate to the Mind's Eye score*, shudder to think's Pony Express Record* (due to my familiarity with & admiration for their High Art score), crystal waters' self-titled '97 album* (don't people usually self-title only their First album?? ), and elfman's Dick Tracy score (not *, but it's been a decade since i watched this).
$2 each: the specials' Guilty Til Proved Innocent album* ('98- let's see if they still got it), squeeze's Play album*, sally potter's Orlando score (not * but it's been 3 years since i saw it), laurie anderson's Mister Heartbreak album*, ru paul's HoHoHo xmas album*, aimee mann & jon brion's excellent Magnolia score, combustible edison's fun Four Rooms score (brand new, still swinkwhapped :) ), a duran duran tribute album*, lassique bendthaus' Render Audible album* and tomita's 1973 Snowflakes Are Dancing electronic debussy renditions (y'all probably know this album's "arabesque" from scifi conventions or jack horkheimer's Stargazer astronomy reports on pbs; "clair de lune" and "reverie" are also fun :) ).
$3: 12 Monkeys score
i guess these'll console me till i find some mms to report here
np: orff's Carmina Burana

Wow, Tomita! I haven't even thought about them for ages. "Holy Space Music, Batman!" File that one next to "Switched-On Bach"
Mister VT, could you possibly provide scans or a link showing that Tron Lightcycle? It sounds cool.
Also, would you be interested in a DVD-quality .avi rip of Tron, to play on yer PC? I'm re-packing your videos for return, with a little sumthin' extra as a thanks for your patience while I turtle-walked through the selections (been a very unusual 5 months for me, and I'm sorry it has taken so long to return the tapes). It would be no problemo to burn a quick Tron and slip it in the box.
03-24-2002, 02:25 PM
what annoys me is that i just looked up this tomita at cdnow.com, and apparently there's a new version that includes a bonus track of his version of "prelude to afternoon of a faun" that for some reason was left off my edition. i like prelude so i woulda liked to hear what that sounded like :( oh well, it's not like i care enough to spend actual money to find out :p
"I'm re-packing your videos for return"
-you mean you've watched em all? in that case where are your humps (http://sirstevesguide.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=2216&perpage=15=15&display=&pagenumber=1) of Broadway Damage & Flirting w/Disaster? and are you gonna keep Guffman aka one of your faves (http://sirstevesguide.com/forums/showthread.php?postid=52319#post52319)? it's not needed on this end :) what's an .avi rip? anyhoo you're not really obliged to include lil sumthin xtras, but if you insist: while b'jr might dig a dvd copy of tron (if that's what an .avi rip is), what I'D really dig is printouts of all the moebius & syd mead drawings in the tron dvd design gallery :D would you know how to do that? b'jr & i viewed them last week and there were a lotta cool ones i'd never even seen before  most are b&w but a few are color. meanwhile, a pic of b'jr's yeller cycle & grape popsicle figure (http://www.necaonline.com/images/TRONfigs.jpg) ;)
hey jdah, a while back you said you sought xtra collector-series (12" scale) astromechs? at a pawnshop i sighted r2d2 for $20 and r5d4 for $12, both seemed in a-ok shape even though both o-o-p, lmk if interested.
used cds for me: marlene deitrich's Blue Angel album for $3, Crouching Tiger score (even though i wasn't crazy about the film) for $1, and super-rare (i never saw it before or even knew it was released!) Henry Fool score (music by director hal hartley) for $7 :D

03-24-2002, 05:12 PM
VT, I'd like to help you out on the moebius & mead drawings, but don't have them :(
The version of Tron I have is not a DVD, rather it is a DVD which someone has copied (ripped) to a different, non-DVD format, then shared via a media file server similar to Napster. .avi files play on your PC, using Windows Media Player or any number of other Windows-based media player software. You can play the movie in full-screen mode, and it will fill the monitor screen, at least to the extent letterboxing permits, or if you have a video card equipped to do so, you can port the video out to a TV (that's what I do, and it's great!). So, let me know if you'd like the Tron, and I'll get it burned and boxed with the tapes.
Yes, I would like to take you up on your generous offer for the Guffman, and I've already tested and found that the Avon BP#7 fits perfectly in the space vacated by Guffman and tapes I already returned. I hope you'll enjoy it.
I'll have a Broadway Damage hump posted asap. I know I already "humped" "Flirting..," but it was back on the old forums and I tried hard to find it, but could not. If you recall, we had a discussion over a year ago about me not caring much for Stiller, and you suggesting I give several of his films a try. I did so, at that time, and "Flirting w/Disaster" was one. I enjoyed it, especially the hippie parents and the two cops. I've always found Leoni extremely easy on the eyes, but didn't have a true appreciation for her as an actress until "The Family Man." If you haven't yet seen it, you may enjoy it. I found it predictable, for the most part, but still entertaining.
Speaking of Windows Media Player, I have this forum window tiled next to WMP playing Gosford Park right now. I sure hope it gets more exciting than it's been so far. It's a real yawner to this point.
Are you going to watch the Academy Awards tonight?
03-25-2002, 11:28 AM
ok, i'll just say this much: ali macgraw looks better at 64 than most wimmin do at age 20  sorry most wimmin, life's damn unfair ain't it? :o
was it letterman who sed showbiz is like highschool with money? o-scars are its prom-night purty-people popularity contest. i haven't yet seen monsters ball inc, but if it turns out halle berry actually has world-class talent i'll be delightfully surprised, cuz she's Never impressed me before. all her disingenuous, oprah-style sobsister hype about openin doors :p the kind of barriers she's tawkin bout haven't applied to babes like her for a long time now. the only Ism that ever affected her career (and Always to her benefit i might add) is Lookism, so i don't buy for a second that her professional or personal struggles are comparable to any she tried to draw parallels to (yeah Right halle, i really believe you & your career's a legit successor to hattie mcdaniel, lena horne, dorothy dandruff, angela bassett etc  please, just take the revlon $$$ & shut yer pampered piehole (wait, don't shut it Just yet, i just thought of a better use for it  ), you narcissistic, phonybaloney, lisa-bonet-style mediocrity :p )
where was i? ;) oh yeh:
"don't have them"
-that's a shame, cuz since thwawn don't wuv me (http://sirstevesguide.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=3198) now i dunno Whut i'll do  ;) thanx mucho for offer swaffy, but an avirip don't sound like somethin bjr or i would have much use for. btw, why would you enclose avon bp7? am i sposed to forward it to someone? dee2 maybe? if so maybe i can give it to her at next month's starcon :)
while your disdain for stiller rings a bell (jt feels the same so maybe i confused the two of you), how couldjou've humped Disaster already? the Hump didn't even exist on the old ssg forum  so git crackin :D
in my mind i keep getting Gosford Park & Royal Tenenbaums confused, know what i mean? :stupid: i wonder if i'll still get em confused After i see em, as i do Rushmore & Wonder Boys
btw, one thing that might annoy you is: some of those $2 discs above were part of a 4 for $8 deal, and i passed on a pristine, 72-minute long louis prima cd

first of all, i was able to Hunt up a Hilarious commentary that amens everything i said above about the o-scars and then some (http://salon.com/ent/movies/feature/2002/03/25/oscars_2002/print.html), check it out! :D:D:D
my denver metro area hunt season's more than half over; i've covered the northwest, northeast, west, southwest and central sectors. and yesterday i efficiently breezed thru the extensive southeast quadrant- 32 stops (3 of which had closed), 3 library branches for hump (http://sirstevesguide.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=2216)vids, a drop-in on a pal and a VendeTta errand  a productive day, & perfect weather for it too; even had time to eat bigmacs on a balcony at sunset  the only territory i haven't yet methodically covered is the south broadway and east colfax corridors. how do i do it? i pull out the phone book, look up all relevant categories, then map out the most efficient round-trip for hittin em, accounting for rush hour and retail hours :)
for b'jr: $8 klingon communicator, $5 deluxe probot, $3 matrix anderson figure (cuz it comes w/bellybuttonbug & bug extractor, both of which i know he'll like) :)
for ar2: $2 reb pilots mm figure pack in buckinham k-b (kinda in your neckothewoods, right? :) )
for anyone: $5 ep1 crosssection books at same k-b, 2 $1 o-o-p xray ywings, 2 $8 virago models, and st pewter mm tv series sets 1 and 2 for $15 each.
for No one: any 75% off sw or trek hallmark orns :(
baggins, all for me:
3 schweeeet walkmans and 2 schuh-weeeet headsets, $6 total
used cds priced as follows:
$2: As Good As It Gets score (for the danielle brisebois song) and alberto iglesias' score to almodovar's recently-Humped All About My Mother (don't recall it but was recently impressed by his score for almo's Live Flesh so decided to take a chance :) )
2for$5: towa tei's Last Century Modern and No Angel by craig-kilborn-stalked dido
$3: Wild Things and recently-humped Velvet Goldmine scores
$5: howard shore's score to the soon-to-be-Humped Crash, cliff martinez' score to recently-Humped King Of The Hill, madredeus' Ainda aka their score to Hump-greatest-hit Lisbon Story, mychael danna's film music for director atom egoyan (includes The Adjuster, Family Viewing and, the reason i bought it, Speaking Parts), and john barry's Swept From The Sea score (Finally! i've only been waiting 5 Years for an acceptable price for this  )
$6: swaffy-appreciated Real Blonde score (i decided waiting 2 years for this price to drop was long enough, so now i could have my cookie ;) ), which features a cut by joey "Clockwatchers" altruda :) considered a $6 Being John Malkovich score but decided i can get it for half that if i wait a bit longer :greedy: i also passed on a $3 Hard Merchandise novel (bounty hunter wars vol. 3) for the same reason :)
you notice there's no mm baggins to report? yeah, in all the whirlwind i kinda noticed that too :frus:

VT, I'm lookin' fer a TRU Classic Duels twin-pack AF w/X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter in an unopened box of acceptable condition to display.
My budget for it is about $20, and I'm willing to go a few buckaroos higher, if necessary. I'll be amazed if you see one. I've seen nuttin' on eBay in the way of Classic Duels sets lately.
I have the same set with the TIE Fighter side of the box opened, and the TIE replaced into the box, if anyone needs it.
I also would like opener AFs of all the ones I do not already have opened. I can re-post a list here, or you can refer to my collection checklist (http://home.adelphia.net/~jr44772/CollectionsPage.htm) right here. If you want a list posted to this thread, lemme know. Also lemme know if you need the deniro up front.
What, no mixtape for moi? :(
04-17-2002, 11:44 PM
but yes, it Is easier if you list all u seek here swaffy, as them spreadsheets don't print up as neat, & anyway lookin at em makes my brain hurt :crazed:
whaddya mean?? you already got Yer mixtape, right after jdah's ('99) and before gsj's ('01) :) see, cuz my mixtapes are such time-intensive Custom Masterpieces, i'm only been able to turn out one a year, so now that it's '02 timmer (from the fsmmb) will finally get his, eight Months ( ) after sendin Me a supercool cdrmix (2b reviewed in upcoming mmixtape thred) :)
of course, if you're That hungry for more vtmixes, you can always try persuadin jdah, gsj & timmer to send you Dubs of the ones i made for Them
ltb: "might be interested in some stands, a couple B'Omarr and a Spirit Ben you found in that scalper's stash. Are the B'Omarrs and Obi's in their mailer boxes or are they loose?"
-yup, all are loose :)
"As for the MO, if you don't get it by this weekend let me know, I'll check out filling in a lost MO report and get another sent off.
If you need any proof that I did get the money order and aren't just playing with ya"
-no worries, i ain't suspicious- Yet ;) frussy-face was just on behalf of you & everyone else here, who'll have to Wait cuz i'm too lazy to hit the postoffice till i'm ready to mail All yer pkgs ;)
jt: hadda feeling you'd want progs ;) (trek3's multipage, trek4's just a folder btw.) but are you Sure about reb & imp tech journals? didn't i send one of each last time, & re Them you said "oops i already had em & didn't realize"??
no need to get Too excited about 108 plates btw, cuz 108 ain't That many, it's only a Fistful (cue morricone eastwood theme ;) )
jdah: "I have a Botany Bay, Surak, Kazon fighter and BritCs Harrier"
-ok then, if my countin skills remain sharp that means you need 4 more stands (five, counting the coming voy) ;)
"any chance you could use one of these at Star con as bait trade fodder"
-sounds like 2nd q5 is unwanted, roger dat :)
"still no way of playing audio tapes yet"
-ok for now, but Not when it arrives
"oh and it's 2 'a's, 1 'l'"
-oh like i Give a double rat's AZZZ ;P

-well of course you don't, cuz those kinda xpectations are for saps, right? ;)
ltb: might as well wait til after con before sending $$, in case add'l finds are added to your bill :)
jdah: did you see passage above about r2b1 power harness? :)
ok then, deadline's passed, no more requests! i May stop back at con on sunday but not the scalper's, so i guess y'all've had yer chance for now :Pirate: anyhoo, now's as good a time as any to post my final spring season hunt report:
bad news about Real Blonde soundtrack swaffy, it doesn't include my fave cue (jazzy vibraphone sidewalk theme) :( but good news about towa tei's Last Century Modern is that title track is an accordian/string pluck waltz very reminiscent of the unreleased Clockwatchers music :D anyhoo, i bagged a few more used cds:
$2: 2-disc "everybody dance" comp, w/remixes of 70s disco hits (chic, sistah sledge etc :) ) by maw & other 90s remixers :)
$2.50: Bounce score (haven't seen and am in No hurry to see this lame-sounding romcom, and lame romcom soundtracks are usually lame themselves, but music's by mychael danna so at this price i took a chance :) )
4/$1: incognito's Positivity, robin s' From Now On, jimmy (bronski beat vocalist) somerville's Read My Lips and a 2nd copy of vanessa daou's Zipless which i'll give to some pal :)
used books: $12 voyager Endgame final ep novelization for $4, $20 Ebay For Dummies for $.50, $60 hc Art Of The Matrix for $4.50 (but recently re-watched flik and was annoyed to see production drawings in the behind-the-scenes that the book doesn't have :( ), and best of all, a supercool, $30 art theory & crit anthology (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0786401400/qid=1019238116/sr=8-8/ref=sr_8_67_8/102-3659472-3297717) edited by a former prof of mine, & which i been waitin to score cheap (in this case, $4.50) for eight Years :D ironically, as link above indicates, a 2nd edition was just released last month
also 2 more walkmans for me ($3 total) and an o-o-p commtech droideka for b'jr, $4 :)

welcome back, R2!!!! was just thinking yesterday that it seemed like a really long time since I'd seen a post from you. do you have any hot leads on new MM/AF star wars releases?
04-19-2002, 09:56 PM
SWAFFY!!!!...Sorry no leads. Since I haven't been online to keep up with current news, my recent finds have just been accidental. NO MM info, but have found a lot of the FritoLays SW bags, some General Mills SW cereal boxes, the SW puzzles in the tins and a bunch of EpII legos.
Needless to say, JT is the one with the most updated MM news:)

glad to see you back!

scored today at k-mart...
holy guacamole!! our local kmart had toys covering nearly 1/2 the shelves in the whole store today. I spent over two hours combing the shelves for anything and everything Star Wars. Found two SWAFs - Sebulba's Pod & another Naboo Starfighter. $4.90 each, after the 30% discount. I now have a Sebulba open on my display shelf. Cool, but that clear plastic piece in the center is kinda annoying. Also grabbed another mini-scene #1. I went to 5 local stores., and am posting a full list of what I saw or bought in the Just Found USA - Eastern PA thread, with prices. If anyone wants anything, lemme know, and I'll grab it.

fun meetin jayspawn & mrhat for the first time :) they thought they recognized me & b'jr from other cons or fanclub sales. but we only chatted for a bit before infiltratin the dealer room before the hordes were officially let in  wasn't the same w/out you, dee2, funwise or mojowise :( tried hookin up w/ar2, couldn't get a holda :( also couldn't find the guy who owes b'jr for the sst bugs (courtesy jdah & gsj) we traded him :( also wasn't able to arrange any trades w/dealers (might try again tomorrow), & the only worthwhile score i was able to sniff out was an o-o-p dc sebulbapod for $2- anyone here wants, say so :) sighted $2 xray sets 1 & 3 (wasn't someone here axin bout xrays?), a $5 nmip commtech droideka, 2 $120 predator afs, $10 maquis & kbop strikeforces, and lmk if any interest in case i go back tomorrow :)
bjr & i got a good laugh outtuva $175 st le set II
dee2: fox31's will jones interviewed several scalpers, maybe you'll see me in the bckgnd makin fun of em behind they backs ;)
scores at liquidatin scalper's lair:
2/$5 o-o-p figs: 7of9, rocket r2 and 2 bomaars for b'jr, obiwan spirit for ltb and holosid & pack-in atadriver for trade or whatnot, lmk if interest in last 2 or prev-reported eu spacetrooper, atat commander, r2b1 w/out commchip & tc14 w/out commchip or tray) :)
13 $1 mms for b'jr: battle-damaged ywing, suncrusher, xwing, t16, some milit jets & tanks and aunt beru's treadwell droid (considered an mm for this purchase :) )
12 3/$1 accessories: corusgaurd rifle (anyone need?), a phaser &
9 communicators for b'jr and a lil surprise i think bc3'll dig, since he has a few pewter ships in his mm collection :)
wasn't able to buy any mm stands ltb, cuz scalper wasn't sure if more stands weren't in storage so was reluctant to part with stands until we check- i'll lyk when we do :)

VT, if you go back, I'll take both playmates ST ships for openers! If not, no problemo. Thanks for looking!
(maybe just for grins, offer the AF predator scalper $30 each for both Predators. If they say yes (in my dreams!!), I'll take 'em both. An opener of one of those would be cool!)
04-20-2002, 05:30 PM
i also saw cardie, ferengi & ent-d strikerforce but didn't note prices; lmk your max for any of those in case interested :)
04-20-2002, 05:55 PM
VT - I'll take one of any you see, except the ent-d, which I already have two of. Max pay would be $10 each, but naturally I'd prefer to pay the least possible ;) thanks, señor!
04-21-2002, 12:34 PM
if i go i should be able to find all 4 :)
now that bc3's back, i trust he's seen mssgs to him in posts 202 & 215 above? good :)
s43 & jf: sowwy, no kaztorps or arrays sighted :(
doesn't anyone here want the $2 mint loose dc sebulbapod? :o
04-21-2002, 12:52 PM
Oh you mean moi? re the power harness? Well, yes ,please send on. No more harnesses need after this one, thx :)
die jennifer lopez, die
04-21-2002, 01:06 PM
thanks VT! if you don't go, no problem.
04-22-2002, 01:05 AM
Thanks for the update VT. If I do get a Kazon Torpedo I'll let you know as soon as I do. So, as long as you don't hear from me please assume I still need it and will pay whatever you think is a reasonable price for it. Hopefully not much though.
The Sebulba Pod is the only EP1 series 2 DC ship I already ahve loose. If it was the infiltrator TF Tank or Rep Cruiser I'd need them loose (come to think of it I need them all carded too. I knew I should have got them from etoys.com when they were cheap).
04-22-2002, 11:19 PM
if one of you don't claim dc sebulbapod soon i'm just gonna let b'jr have it  anyhoo, in addition to sighting an Absurd $400 st le set 3 ( :frus: ), b'jr scored a $5 st #11 3pack (baj fighter/klaestron/miradorn) which just two days previous had been $15 :) also, i was able to arrange for b'jr to trade 10 of his unwanted mm ships (atats, runabouts & ds9 stations) for an sst mm pak1 :) also, i was able to trade atat commander & packin atatdriver (which cost me $2 each at scalpers last week) for a new r4m9 (which means it only cost me $4 :) ), so now i can rest for a few hours, content that there are no other toys out there i seek- until ep2 toys come out maybe  i didn't like the mouse droid so i gave it to b'jr- speakin of whom, if any of you find any cheep extra r4m9s he'll be happy to take :)
swaffy: got you $9 sst bp5 and $8 (talked down from $10) cardie galor strikeforce. all others'd been solded :o since these will be openers for you, w/your permission i'll fold the bp card so that & galor can fit snugly in box i have in mind for shipment, lmk :)
jg: after the con, bjr & i finally met up w/ar2 (after 3&1/2 years of net correspondence :) ) & got your firing mtt & turning-turret aat :) we let him pick out ~30 or so mm figures & in return he laid on us, in addition to your mtt & aat, the following mm ships:
another turn-turret aat & a standard aat
3 n1s (one from bdroid headplayset)
some kinda galoob ufo (men in black??)
2 bongos, 1 from the playset (w/topside hole)
and a passle-o-mm figs He didn't want & which bjr'll someday use to populate a boonta-eve-style arena :)
many of above mms had previously eluded b'jr, so naturally he was super-happy to make this exchange :) not only that, ar2 sed he has a ep1set12 comin from uk soon & that he won't need its repcruiser which made b'jr smile even bigger :D anyhoo, hope you got as much out of it as we did ar2, we'll set aside any future mm figure acquistions & keep you in mind, good finally meetin ya (& ar2 jr.) :)
then we went to his place & watched the special trek ep of Futurama, the Andy Dick Show & the fun keifer/reesewiddaspoon flik Freeway (comin soon to da Hump), the end :)
04-23-2002, 04:58 AM
Dang VT, someone wanted $175 for a Set II and $400 for a Set III? You should've crunched the box while they weren't looking. :D
04-23-2002, 08:09 PM
unless the card is already in REALLY crappy condition, I don't have a SST BP#5 yet, so this one will not be an opener, unless the card is totally trashed already. If you already bent it, no problem. I'll live. Will paypal you as soon as you confirm shipping ($17+). Thanks, VT :D . I sure wish we'd get some sort of convention here in this area, so I could look for stuff for you all, too!

damn ltb, where were you to whisper that suggestion in my ear when it woulda done some good? i must be losin my touch for scalper-vexing mayhem :dead: what'd we say yer thus far bill was, $17.34? make it an even $20 and that oughta cover xtra shipping weight for your obiwan spirit :)
swaffy: nah, card's only in kinda crappy condition ;) meanwhile, a springhunt denouement of sorts- 1 of each of the following $15 nmip afs sighted all via one scalper (so if more than one is wanted by any of you here maybe i can swing a discount :) ). 1st claimed, 1st served:
rogue2 snowsp, cloudcar, bwing, greenawing, tie, dvtie, bomber
Silver Logo pkgs: slave, tyderium, atat, xwing, sandcrawler
also, $20 2-button remote atat $20.
what bc3 sed months ago about that obiwan droid prolly bein the closest thing we gonna get to ep2 mms for a while sounds about right :( anyhoo i finally opened my r3t7 and picked up new jango (not deluxe or preview) and red-accented clone trooper, both may be cool enough to keep but i don't like clone trooper's rifle or firing tripod cannon, so if anyone wants to trade for zam wesell's guns, fine by me :) didn't like any of the other figs enough to bother with, & that includes led-eye r2 :p
also found another Art Of Matrix hc, this time for $3 so i'll let a pal who wanted to buy $4.50 one from me :)
04-25-2002, 01:38 AM
I picked up the Red Clone Trooper too - really cool fig - I'm keeping mine boxed.
Also bought Taun We and Luminara Unduli.
Do I understand you correctly in that you can pick up a Rogue Snowspeeder for $15??
If so, can you bag me one - funds obviously re-imbursed.

04-25-2002, 07:48 PM
VT, I'd be interested in those silver logo AFs, if no one has claiemd 'em yet. $15 each seems a little salty, but if that's the best the scalper will go, so be it. Thanks muchly. :)
04-26-2002, 10:57 AM
. . . which oughta be sometime next week :) it'll feel strange to be takin yer money after all our pure tradin, eh bc3? you sure you don't got any more scifimms (loose or unopened) you wouldn't wanna trade to b'jr? ;)
jt: you sure about that? plz check to make sure, i thought i sent you both trek And sw techjourns, & that you said you already had the sw ones. either way, feel free to ask for any add'l listed stuff, since it'd fit ez in the pkg i'll be sending :)
meanwhile, left ar2 good feedback (http://sirstevesguide.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=204) for the trade we did sunday :)
04-26-2002, 11:59 AM
Have slowly been getting rid of spares on Ebay, so funds will have to suffice.
Just tell me the cost inc postage and the funds will be zipping across the Atlantic the same day.
04-26-2002, 12:18 PM
. . .& he mentioned he has 2 additional rogue2s (also $15), in case anyone else's interested :)
04-26-2002, 12:30 PM
VT: For 15.00 I'll take one of the Rogue 2s. If no one else wants the third one I'd take that one too. Whichever one is in the nicer box I'd want boxed but the other one can be opened and shipped loose. LMK.
04-27-2002, 01:43 AM
I'll check, but it'll have to be sunday, I buried the box they came in under my Ep 2 gear and won't be here tomorrow to dig back in.
04-27-2002, 11:22 AM
swaffy: good news & bad news: it turns out that silver slave1 is $25 & i hadn't noticed. it looked like all prices were $15 so that's what i reported :( anyhoo, plz advise if you still want.
the good news is that same mistake on my part apparently failed to note that a coupla others you didn't want were not $15 but instead $13 :) which makes your current, non-slave1 total (assuming i can't swing any group discount) $56.
in light of slave1 snafu, feel free to lmk an acceptable total price for all 5 silvers & i'll see i if can swing it. otherwise, we'll just bag you the 4 $15&under silvers :)
04-27-2002, 02:39 PM
25.00 for a Silver Logo Slave 1 is a big rip off. I just checked ebay and found one that's currently at 8.50 with a little over a day to go. I'd be surprised to see it go above 15.00. Before bidding though I'd e-mail the seller to be sure it is for the item in the picture, the picture has a January time stamp on it so it is possible that he had more than one Slave 1 and possibly didn't know about the logo variation or didn't think it mattered.
04-27-2002, 02:42 PM
The timestamp is not only from January, but it's from 2001 as well.
04-28-2002, 12:27 PM
hey VT, thanks for checking on those before buying! I guess, based on your infor, and on S43's great follow up info, I'll get all silver logos Except the Slave 1. Lemme know totals w/ shipping when you have it all added up, & I'll settle-up wit ya.
04-30-2002, 01:57 PM
Just in case anybody is interested.......
After 6 months of being digicamless, it is now fixed and I have been able to update my site.
Has a few interesting new bits & pieces, including a very cool balsa mm sized model of NX-01.
PS if ARTOO reads this, I hope you don't mind, but I've added a link to the old WAYBACK ENGINE GALOOB site. Hope this is OK - ta.
04-30-2002, 03:03 PM
S43, I ordered that classic duels set from Millennium today - thanks again!
04-30-2002, 03:37 PM
No problem swaffy. At least it wasn't the Japanese ZAAP 2-pack that you found to be opened. That would have been a little harder to replace. Hmm, that actually reminds me that I don't have a loose ZAAP set. Everytime I think my collection gets more incomplete, I'll have to see what I can do about that. No more thinking for me :)
04-30-2002, 05:37 PM
a Zaap opener... that would be nice, but veddy decadent - kinda like buying the mona lisa at auction, then taking it out of the frame and using it as christmas wrapping paper on someone's gift box, just 'cause you felt like it and could afford it.
04-30-2002, 10:56 PM
britcit3...of course it's OK to use the Wayback machine link:)!!! We all need to keep the Galoob site alive in any way we can.
Great pics of you and junior!!!!
05-01-2002, 11:46 PM
meanwhile, a few more media pieces you (or anyone else here) may wish me to enclose free in your upcomin shipment- 1st claimed/easiest to fit into your parcel, 1st served- and don't forget any unclaimed still-availables listed in post 202 above :)
magazines etc, w/a few pgs missing:
fall 78 cinefantastique w/big ce3k article
oct 95 cinescape
jun/jul sw kids (complete)
oct/nov 98 stofc communicator
sw insider issues 11, 36 and 43 (maul cover variant)
voy cast poster from tvguide special trek issue (pre7of9; sorry jdah ;) )
1980 esb sketchbook
sote comix (i kept the bountyhunter sequences  don't want the rest)
sw se comic version issue 1
lengthier genre-flick mag articles, mostly from cinefantastique:
universal's terminator 3-d
dungeons & dragons
from dusk til dawn
misc. animated projects
misc. horror (jeepers creepers etc; maybe jdah like :) )
sightings at westland target: $1.54 potj shmis and $4 leia w/jabbaguns :) meanwhile, 2 pre-af-scalper-confrontation quextions:
1: "emblemless awing" means it has no circle/lightnin bolt symbol, right?
2: you still seekin one of these gsj? anyone else?
just askin, not makin any promises so don't wet y'allselves ;)
hey, lookie what s43 sed to me in recent email: "When I think of MMs three people pop into my mind Baal, Britcit, and yourself"
aww, now ain't dat nice ;) in that case don't fergit to shower me with the worship that's rightfully mine (http://sirstevesguide.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=6679) (thred title's in response to "jesus loves you" gendiscuss thred) :D
np: ministry, "work for love"
05-02-2002, 03:46 AM
Yup, no Reb or Imp tech manuals.
I'm up for those Insiders and Communicators, and also the ESB Sketchbook. Gracias! :D
05-02-2002, 04:58 PM
I don't need one, but yes, "emblemless" means the tail fins are blank - no logo.
good shot jansen
05-03-2002, 07:19 AM
what the swafster said, if it's green mean and emblemless, it is indeed what i'v'e been lookin' for like forevah!
keepin dry for the moment............................................
05-04-2002, 12:12 PM
. . .cuz i'm afraid sighted greenawing weren't no emblemless :( also, bc3 & s43: i'm afraid scalper "mistakenly" sold rogue2 ( :frus: ), and was mistaken about his other two being rogue2s :( btw bc3, since i missed you in carolina and a big rogue2 won't be part of your shipment, i'll revert to prev. plan of enclosing your pkg in jdah's for forwarding onto you, since there's just enough room :)
ltb: mauled moneyorder cashed a-ok :)
all recipients: with the arrival of ltb's $$ i'm rapidly runnin outta excuses to crastinate on yalls pkgs, so expect me to get em all out at once in the next week or 2, so plz re-send me your mailing addresses next chance you get :)
swaffy, badnews: silver-logo atat box is missing a small part of side-window lattice, so it's not mint; hope it's still acceptable, lmk. good news: i was able to wrangle scalper's guilt re above-mentioned rogue2 misunderstanding into a ~10% discount for your 4 silvers :) your current total: $54.79 +$8 +$9 +tobedetermined shipping, so wait on paypallin till i pack & send :) quextion: since strikeforce cardie will be an opener for you, it would make packin your parcel a lot easier if i could remove it from box for shipping. i'd still include all contents & packaging, & ensure protection of latter. lmk if that's ok :) also, re our latest Hump xchange i'll be enclosing a cinefantastique What Dreams May Come article (& also a SpaceJam article if you want) :)
jedigoofy: plz confirm you've seen above reports re items for you :) also please remind me exactly what i'm enclosing in your pkgs :)
darthcarlos: still waiting to hear from you (above) re trade :)
