I am aware this is more than a year early but what figure so far confirmed are you most looking forward to that will be released next year.

I'm most looking forward to the Weading Anakin despite not seeing pics yet. I think that the Padme, Tyranus and Tusken are very cool and I am eagerly anticipating the new and improved detailed, non-remote-controlled Sandcrawler.

Also please state what figure so far this year you view as being the best by clicking on this link.

A little early for the best of 2003, when 2002 isn't over yet and we've only seen 5 basic figures from 2003. :crazed: :p But, I guess I will go with the Wal-Mart Exclusive Trash Compactor Screen Scenes. :)

I'll bet you Boba Fett.

Have to say very little excites me so far with what has been announced. I was hoping for more OT announcements, but if your gonna press me then i'd say Lama Su or Yoda w/padawan.

I am looking forward to Padme. I don't have ONE Padme yet and she and her accessories look great. But the one I am looking forward to the most is the Tusken. I like army builders and I want to get a lot of Tuskens. If you count ships and stuff then I am looking forward to the Hailfire Droid the most.

If they make a Jedi Knight Luke, I think it might be him.

But from what has been confirmed so far, I'll go with Padme. With all its articulation, it looks awesome.

I would have to say...Coleman Trebor.

10-02-2002, 11:21 AM
If they make Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker as nice as the Bespin Duel one (minus the gimmicks) and include a black gloved removable hand, a removable flesh coloured hand, magno-cuffs, and Sith lightning...I'll be happy...and it'll be the best figure of 2003 by far!

The Overlord Returns
10-02-2002, 11:40 AM
Man am I the only person that was dissapointed with Bespin luke?

and Vader for tha matter?

Prince Xizor
10-02-2002, 11:49 AM
I loved Bespin Luke, but I agree with you on the Vader. I don't like it. It doesn't stand very well, and it looks dumb while its holding the saber.

The Overlord Returns
10-02-2002, 12:18 PM
I dunno...I think BL's scenery piece should have fit with the Vader piece....would have made more sense.

I also find the articulation on him awkward....

I shall buy a baker's dozen of the 2003 Tusken Raider. Wonderful, wonderful Classic figure. Then I shall try to figure out where to put them...

Yeah, an Ultimate Jedi Luke Skywalker would rock all our collective worlds, I think, mine at least.

Since more of the 2003 three figures have shown up what do many of you rank to be the best 2003 three figures from what you either have or don't have.

My favorites so far that I have are
1. Aayla Secura
2.Barriss Offee
3. Snowtrooper
4. Han Hoth
5. Lama Su

of the ones I don't have the ranking goes like this
1. Yoda and Chian
2. Ashla and Jempla
3. Anakin Sc
4. Aayla Secura
5. Wat Tambor

My favs for the year so far are:

1) Padme Droid Factory (Can't get enough Padme)
2) Poggle the Lesser (Does this count here as was from a screen scene?)
3) WA-7 (Super-cool looking droid)
4) Snowtrooper (Good sculpt, and dammed useful)
5) The Emperor (Seriously evil face!)

I also think the Bespin Luke was terrible. It represented everything I hated about the Saga line in 2002/2003.

The only 2003 figures I've even seen are Aayla Secura, SC Anakin, and the Tusken Raider....
Kinda odd, since 2003 is over halfway over and I still, for the most part, find nothing but 2002 Pilot Jangos warming the pegs anywhere I look.
But I guess my vote goes for the Anakin. I love those ball-joints. :)

JediTricks

The only 2003 figures I've found so far are:
R2 Flight
Lama Su
Obi-Wan Acklay
Padme factory
Han Hoth blue (which I didn't buy)

Of those, it's with faint praise indeed that I currently have to vote for the goofy-faced Padme. Lama Su would have gotten it if he didn't have googly eyes, his paint wasn't so bleah, and his midsection hadn't come apart. I wish I could vote for something other than these 5, but no, apparently 9 months into the year 2003 is not long enough to find figures from January.

I think I have every basic figure released of 2003 except the basic clone wars figures. and out of them all. I think coleman, yoda and chian, and aayla were awsome. but my #1 pick is
Secret Ceremony anakin. It looks great, his cape comes of easy, it has the robotic hand. Have you guys displayed this thing holding a red lightsaber. IT AWSOME I think its the best

Although the sculpt is great, the WA-7 Waitress Droid simply will not stand up, even attached to her base. The Emperor is just hideous! Great facial sculpt, but the arms are like toothpicks and the oversized hood makes him look like a simpleton! Oh, and thank you Hasbro for giving him a cane that he just cannot hold, and mini-Force lightning effects that look like idiotic bracelets!

Now that I have Anakin SC that is my favorite figure. However Aayla Secura comes in at a close second.

For those of you who have gotten new figures be sure to mention whether your favorite figure of the year has changed or not.

RussUAE
10-06-2003, 02:20 AM
Favourite Figure has changed a few times - started as Padme Factory Chase, then became Wat Tambor and the current champion figure is the Emperor (not everyone's cup of tea I know).

I have a feeling the Imperial Dignatories may sneak in at the end of the year and steal the crown though.

most of the messages in this thread are why kebco is the way to go. best fig, yoda from yoda and padawan 2-pack. the only thing that wasn't super about it was the billowing cloak (this was the perfect fig for a soft goods cloak, similar to the total control windu), but it's forgivable when yoda is standing in the gunship.

I have found only 11 figures for this year. One I passed on(rebel trooper).

I love the Tusken TA. I like the Lama Su also. Hoth Han is cool only because he is the first non Jedi to have a saber. Padme DF is a nice figure too.

I willsay out of what I have in my hands is the Tusken. Best that I have seen.

So I thought I'd weigh in on the question. My favorites so far this year (out of ones I've found this year anyway)

1 Ephant Mon
2 Ashla and Jampa
3 Yoda and Chian
4 Boba Carkoon
5 6 way tie, for all the figs in the geonosis warroom. I think these sets were the shiznit..

After all this time, I still have to say that the Tusken Raider with the oh-so-groovy removable head is by far the coolest figure of the year.

He is just flat out amazing.
He looks great.
Unobtrusive action feature that works.
Neato little Tatooine base.

This figure re-ignited my passion for collecting. One that will burn brightly as R1-G4 paves the way for wave after wave of great figures.

My Top 5:

2) Aayla Secura
3) McQuarrie Stormtrooper - Yes I have it and it's sweet
4) Janus Greejatus
5) Tied - Wat Tambor & Bail Organa

I have a new idea for this thread. This month of Decemeber will be a preview month for what will happen next month. Pretty much I'm stilling Artoosnews idea of where you vote on 10 figures and each figure gets a point based on raking. For example if you vote a figure #1 it gets 10 points. If you vote it #2 it gets 9 points and so on.

Interesting choice for dog, Plasticfetish.
I think, by virtue of the fact that it could have potentially been one of the best Luke figures ever made, it earns the big thumbs down. Hasbro had a chance to make the ultimate true "action" figure version of Luke as a Jedi, but instead we got a deformed, gimmick laden and un-fun little statue with a big obvious button on it's back. If this figure had come with as much articulation as the new "super articulated" clone trooper, instead of the gimmick and limited pose, then he'd be at the top of my list. Would have also made a great opposite to the new Jedi Luke with soft cloak that's coming out later.

I dislike Throne Room Vader for pretty much the same reason, but to me, Luke is an even bigger flop.

So I ask that everyone participates because there poitns really don't count now. I'm doing this to primarily see if there are any differences between the fave figures now and after Christmas.

Top 10 so far.
1. Coleman Trebor (36 pts.)
2. Wat Tambor (24 pts.)
3. Arc Trooper (21 pts.)
4. TIE Anakin Skywalker (Secret Ceremony) + Tusken Raider (Tatooine Ambush) (18 pts. each)

8. Lt. Dannl Faytonni: Coruscant Outlander Club (14 pts.)

Just picked up Ayy Vida, Outlander Obi-Wan, Elan Sleazebaggano, and Lars Homestead Padme last night at WM. Plus, a friend showed me his Concept Stormtrooper (and another friend has found one for me, so I'll have one of my own by Christmas--hopefully!), so I think I have enough info to vote in here now!

OK, my top ten figures of 2003 would be ...
1. Asajj Ventress
2. McQuarrie Concept Stormtrooper
3. Coleman Trebor
4. Aayla Secura
5. Anakin Skywalker: Secret Ceremony
6. Mace Windu: Arena Confrontation
7. Tusken Raider: Tatooine Camp Ambush
8. Darth Tyranus: Geonosian Escape
9. Padmé Amidala: Droid Factory Chase
10. Yoda & Chian: Padawan Lightsaber Training

This was tough. Truthfully, I didn't even buy half of what is on my list. I was REALLY burned out on ATOC and only was into OT stuff this year (or OT compatable stuff like the Tusken Raider. . .) I did pick up the R5, the Dignitary . . . and want Amidala, Fatonni, and Ayy really bad. But I just was not that into the figs these past few months . . . The new stuff coming in 2004 really has me pumped again about collecting. And I am glad I saved my cash as so much of the new product is truly exceptional. . .

But here is my ranking of the year's offerings:

1) Tusken Raider: Tatooine Camp Ambush
2) R5-D2
3) IMPERIAL DIGNITARY (Janus Greejatus): Death Star Procession
4) PADMÉ AMIDALA: Lars' Homestead
5) Lt. Dannl Faytonni: Coruscant Outlander Club
6) AYY VIDA - Outlander Nightclub Patron
7) OBI-WAN KENOBI - Outlander Nightclub Encounter
8) Boba Fett: Pit of Carkoon
9) Lama Su: Kamino Prime Minister w/ Clone Child
10) Han Solo: Hoth Rescue - (Blue Coat)

Super Articulated Clone Trooper takes the cake by far.

There are a few that I considered coming close:

Padme Amidala Droid Factory - great articulation, nice execution
Tusken Raider Tatooine Camp Ambush - great sculpting, nice appearance
Anakin Skywalker Secret Ceremony - almost the perfect Anakin, sans the cloak
Boba Fett Pit of Carkoon - great action feature, nice rocket blast, articulation
Aayla Secura - nice sculpting, great painting, nice articulation
Han Hoth - great sculpt, really strong accessories, nice likeness, good action feature
Asajj Ventress - great sculpt, really strong accessories

BUT THE SUPER ARTICULATED CLONE TROOPER IS BY FAR THE BEST!

Army builders rock. Great army builders Rule!

Okay here is 10-6 as far as rankings go. More to come later. Please discuss the current results.

10. Bail Organa (30 pts.)
9. Snowtrooper (32 pts.)
8. Boba Fett Pit of Carkoon (34 pts.)
7. Padme Droid Factory (38 pts.)
6. Wat Tambor (39 pts.)

I must say that I am not really surprised at any of the results excpet for Boba Fett. He may look cool but when I got him he was a major disappointment. There was so much potential for that figure. His play feature really messed up his articulation.

Bail Organa was my eigth choice and the Snowtrooper was ten. Wat Tambor was actually my sixth choice, oddly enough. I thought the Padme Droid Factory was okay but there were other figures that I liked more.

just got SA clonetrooper today, best fig of the year, hands down, right up there for best fig ever! why can't hasbro put that kind of articulation, playability, and detail into the main characters? i want a SA obi wan, and i want it now! they came so close with the outlander club obi, great torso, legs, adequate head, but 2 stupid arms, only good for drinking and directing traffic! :frus:

Oops, I made a mistake with my calculations. Actually I didn't I just overlooked something. Han Solo Hoth actually has a total of 31 points, therefore making him the 10 best figure. So here is the revised ranking. I apologize for my miscalculations.

10. Han Solo: Hoth (31 pts.)
9. Snowtrooper (32 pts.)
8. Boba Fett Pit of Carkoon (34 pts.)
7. Padme Droid Factory (38 pts.)
6. Wat Tambor (39 pts.)

I must say that I am not a big fan of play features. I am not really surprised to see Han on this list because he has good sculpt and accessories but his play feature kills him for me. I have a great dislike for buttons. I thought Bail was a much better neutral sculpt, and Leia's adoptive father. I also like the Holo-Obi-Wan I think they did a really great job with that accessory. Later today I will show you the fourth and fifth place results. But please everyone keep on rambling on.

Well, what can I say...

Super Articulated Clone Trooper!

Sure, I still think his shoulders are a bit big and the joint where his shoulders join his chest armor is a bit funny looking. But overall he is by far one of the best figures Hasbro has cranked out since the CT Stormtrooper.

I also need to say kudos to Hasbro on the Clone Wars line, and on most of the newer figures. Keep it up and I will go back to being a completist in no time. :D

8. Wat Tambor
7. Darth Vader Throne Room Duel
6. Snowtrooper
5. Coleman Trebor
4. Anakin Secret Ceremony
3. Super articulated Clone

WOW, I guess I'll never understand the attraction of th Secret Ceremony Anakin. I thought all the fuss would die down after everyone was able to get him. I just assumed everyone else would be as disappointed with this figure as I was. He's one of the few loose figures I let my 2 year old daughter play with (minus the accessories lol).

PloKoon, you don't have to count mine unless you want to. Here is my top ten list:

Everyones vote counts. I have no problem changing the scores for latecomers. With that in mind here are the new revised scores. I want everyone to know that I encourage you to vote on your favorite figures of 2003 if you have not yet done so.

10. Han: Hoth (32 pts.)
9. Boba Fett: Pit of Carkoon (36 pts.)
8. Snowtrooper (37pts.)
7. Padme: Droid Factory Chase (38 pts.)
6. Wat Tambor (42 pts.)

And as promised here are the 4th and 5th place figures of the year, so far based on the results. Remember if any of you state what your favorites are the results may change as it did with the Boba Fett and Snowtrooper.

5. Tusken Raider: Tatooine Camp Ambush (46 pts.)
4. Imperial Dignitary: Janus Grejtaus (50 pts)

To tell you guys the truth I'm really surprised to see the Tusken Raider up here. I thought it had a decent sculpt but overall it was just an uninteresting figure for me. Don't get me wrong it is a toy from my most favorite scene of all of the Saga, at least until EIII comes out.

I'm also surprised that the Imperial Dignitary did not score higher. I orignally voted it fifth figure of the year but after finding it I am amazed at the paint and sculpt job this figure has recieved.

Tommorrow if possible, I will give the results for the third place figure.

After the last two people cast their votes the rankings changed around a bit. No, new figures made it to the list but here are the new results.

10. Han Solo: Hoth Rescue (32 pts)
9. Snowtrooper (37 pts)
8. Wat Tambor (42 pts)
7. Tusken Raider (46 pts)
6. Boba Fett: Pit of Carkoon (47 pts)
5. Imperial Dignitary: Janus Greejtaus (53 pts)
4. Padme: Droid Factory Chase (55 pts)

I must say that I am surprised to see Padme DFC go up so much. I think she is a decent figure but not the fourth best. I think some people may be surprised to find out who number three is so far.

Sorry for taking so long at posting this but I had an aunt die yesterday. Anyways, here is the moment some of you have been waiting for. The first place winners are
Coleman Trebor
and
Anakin Skywalker: Secret Ceremony

both with 91 points.

Later today, hopefully I will post a list of figures of us to vote on for the worst figures of 2003 and then on Januray 1st we can vote for our favorite figures but this time the votes will really count. I would like to thank everyone who has so far participated in my thread and I hope all of you continue to do so.

I'm sorry for your loss of your Aunt, Plo Koon.

I'm also disappointed in the SA Clone's being overshadowed by Anakin and Coleman Trebor.

Coleman Trebor?

Unlike figures I build armies with, or main characters I use in a lot of dioramas like Anakin (and that's a very admittedly great figure of Anakin), I only purchased 2 Coleman Trebors, over a lot of opportunities.

Since he was killed, I'm going to use him in only 2 scenes: E2 Jedi Council, and the Arena Battle, in which he'll be engaged on the Arena floor, shortly prior to getting killed by Jango Fett.

Having set neither scene up, and wanting to keep at least one each of my AOTC 2003 figures on a carded wall, I'VE NEVER OPENED A COLEMAN TREBOR.

It does leave me curious, but I guess not that curious.

I want lots of Jedi made, but I guess they're just more Jedi to me, and not a figure I'll get so excited about that I'd rush to open them.

Now if they made Sora Bulq (the Weequay Jedi who turned to the Dark Side), I'd rush to open that package! But while I might buy 2-3 Pablo Jill figures and open at least one of him immediately, Coleman just never inspired me that much. But I'm starting to warm up to him now, with all of your great reviews.

But the real reason SA Clone hasn't taken the title belt yet is because I'm guessing that not enough people have found him yet. An army builder, folks collecting in my area probably have a hard time finding him, as I myself have been hitting the stores before their doors even open, and buying every Clone that's stocked. I share with my friends in my collecting club, and have passed a lot along the grapevine, but we cover all the stores in our area and are all determined to have huge armies - it's the Emperor's Arrival Scene army building all over again (such as it was with the CommTech Stormtroopers).

I've noticed Hasbro not to pack the SA Clone in anything but solid cases, or with other Army Builders, but instead it's with the 3rd (and surely not the last) figure of SaeSee Tiin. Go figure.

Eventually, SaeSee and Kit will pegwarm. My leavings at most stores have been bought, but today there was almost a full case number of lingerers. So we'll see.

But everyone should do whatever it takes to get a SA Clone. At mornings at my stores, I'm sometimes the only one there! Depending upon your schedule, it's not that hard. Sleeping's not an excuse, but don't get me wrong - I feel like crap most days after this morning hunting because I could've used 3-4 hours more sleep myself.

Thank you Tycho.

Sorry guys. For many reasons I have been very busy and unable to update this thread so I decided for us not to vote on the worst figure for the preview month.

Yeah, I'll re-vote and expand.

1) [#50] Super Articulated CloneTrooper (Clone Wars)
Pretty obviously one of the best made, most fun to play with figures that we've ever been given.
2) [#23] Wat Tambor: Geonosis War Room
I just dig this thing! Good alien and good figure of an alien.
3) [#24] Coleman Trebor: Battle Of Geonosis
Fun, big, weird looking Jedi with decent (though could be better) articulation.
4) [#29] Lt. Dannl Faytonni: Coruscant Outlander Club
One of the best "background" character figures ever made.
5) [#51] Seasee Tiin (Clone Wars)
The "Clone Wars" line has been a huge hit as far as I'm concerned. Except for Mace and Obi-Wan (so-so), the rest have been super... some on my favorites. This figure is easily one of my favorite Jedi figures. Great detail, well made... a cool toy.
6) [#06] Tusken Raider: Tatooine Camp Ambush
Head comes off! Always an ingredient for success with me.
7) [#43] ARC Clone Trooper (Clone Wars)
Fun toy that looks good. Nice detail and quality... everyone wins, kids and collectors alike.
8) [#34] MCQUARRIE CONCEPT STORMTROOPER
Cool. Very novel idea that was executed reasonably well. I would have loved some more "special" packaging, but the figure ended up being very nice.
9) [#47] Asajj Ventress (Clone Wars)
One of the better (best?) female figures that we've gotten. Nice detail, articulation and accessories.
X) [#42] Anakin Skywalker (Clone Wars)
Generaly, the Anakin figures tend to have something wrong with them that makes them either not fun to play with, or they simply look weird. This one I like. It looks good, is made well and is fun to play with.
Honorable mention ...
[#33] BAIL ORGANA: Alderaan Senator
[#35] IMPERIAL DIGNITARY (Janus Greejatus)
[#49] Kit Fisto (Clone Wars)
[#14] Chewbacca: Mynock Hunt
[#03] Darth Tyranus: Geonosian Escape
Biggest dog of the bunch, still...
[#17] Luke Skywalker: Throne Room Duel
Craptacular!

I'm not voting for any of the '04 figs here. I've found only two of those, and as far as I'm concerned they didn't really "hit" yet. I'm skipping the animated figures also, they're a unique item... not really "action figures" to me. I wish I'd gotten out and grabbed some of the Star Tours stuff, so I'll have to pass because I'm simply to lazy to drive 30 minutes to go buy any. That, and I hate Anaheim.

OK, my top ten figures of 2003 would be ...
1. Asajj Ventress
2. McQuarrie Concept Stormtrooper

6. Mace Windu: Arena Confrontation
7. Tusken Raider: Tatooine Camp Ambush
8. Darth Tyranus: Geonosian Escape
9. Padmé Amidala: Droid Factory Chase
10. Yoda & Chian: Padawan Lightsaber Training

OK, I'm going to amend the above list:

1. ['03, #50] Super Articulated CloneTrooper (Clone Wars)
2. ['03, #47] Asajj Ventress (Clone Wars)
3. ['03, #34] McQuarrie Concept Stormtrooper: Fan's Choice #4
4. ['03, #24] Coleman Trebor

I think I barely bought 10 figures all year, and some of those have yet to show up (Kebco preorder Hoth Stormtrooper and ANH Vader, for instance), but I just received the SA Clone Trooper that I got off ebay a few days ago, and it is a VERY cool figure. If it was an OT figure - Stormtrooper, anyone? - I'd be thrilled beyond belief. Since it's the only AOTC/CW figure I've purchased besides Yoda & Younglings and the non-cartoon Assaj Ventress, I'll admit to being just very pleased.

Hasbro, if you don't do ALL the army builder figures like this at some point in the future, you deserve to have the line die. I'm not sure that a lot of non-armored (ie, main characters) figures would work with the SA treatment, since it would be hard to hide the joints, but for a lot of the Imperial and Rebel troops, it's a no-brainer. If we don't have a SA Stormtrooper by this time next year, somebody isn't paying attention. I know I would buy them by the case.......

Here goes. Be forewarned, Mark2D2's list is of course a wee bit droid heavy. :)

1] R1-G4: Tatooine Transaction --- A life long dream, fulfilled. No exaggeration. The only toy I have ever wanted more is the much oft. rumoured Sandcrawler. (So, yes, oh, yes, this just could be my year.) Can't find this guy --- Of Course! --- But he is sure to be a winner. Will he be my favorite droid ever? Meaning he beats out FX-7. . . Time will tell. But now that the initial "statue" reports are proving false. Anything is possible. :)

2] TUSKEN RAIDER: TATOOINE CAMP AMBUSH --- In a word, Wow! This bad boy is amazing! An all new killer sculpt! (Minus the head.) A Spiffy base . . . A wicked cool retro-vintage cape. This toy wins for 1978 nostolgia factor alone. Then there is the flawless action feature. A definite Must-Have.

3] R5-D2 --- You know, I never expected to like this toy. I was initially very annoyed that this guy was coming out and NOT R5-D4. I mean, the nerve of Hasbro! The nerve! Then I got this figure and he's really pretty darn great. The blaster damage on his side is well done. Bad for army builders, I suppose. But, hey, I am NOT and army builder.

4] R4-I9 -- IMPERIAL DROID --- This was not on the official list, but I just had to put him mine. He ROCKS! Seriously. He has what just might be hands down the best paint job ever on a droid.

5] R-3PO: HOTH EVACUATION --- Okay, what is it with Hasbro doing all these awesome background droids lately? Have I somehow taken over this fine multinational company and not been informed? At any rate, I must say that this one was a welcome surprise. He looks just great in person. Better than that --- he looks amazing.

6] R2-D2: JABBA'S SAIL BARGE --- At long last. I have yet to get this guy yet, but from the photos and reviews, I am sure I'll like him. He'd be higher on my list. . . if only his glasses were removable. . . Oh, well.

7] IMPERIAL DIGNITARY (Kren Blista-Vanee): Death Star Procession --- This was not the Dignitary I was looking for. No Vintage love for this guy, sadly. Even so, he is definitely a welcome addition to my collection. Maybe his 1980s counterpart will soon follow if the rumours are to be believed.

8] HAN SOLO: HOTH RESCUE - (Blue Coat) --- More vintage nostolgia here. But a nifty figure to boot. The stance annoyed me initially, but he does fit on his Tauntaun.

9] PADMÉ AMIDALA: LARS' HOMESTEAD --- Finally! A decent, no, an amazing Padme. The look is dead on. The base is spiffy. Nothing to improve on with this incarnation.

10] LT. DANNL FAYTONNI: CORUSCANT OUTLANDER CLUB --- As a Threepio fan, I like that Anthony Daniels finally gets his due in plastic. The bar accessories REALLY go the extra mile. . .
