Just curious to see if anyone's found this guy yet. We haven't gotten any new figures since Palpatine & Djas Puhr here in Toledo.

I haven't seen hide nor hair of that sucker; nor anything from Padme Coruscant forward. Had to snag 'em on-line.

Would like to buy an Ephant and a few Clone Pilots to open, so I'm still looking.

There was a thread a week or so ago about someone finding Ephant Mon in the UK.

Yeah... it seems they are out in the UK but not really here in the US. I am curious to see if this came as a result of the dockworkers strike on the west coast.

I know my KEBco shipments were affected (a little) by it.

Yes, Ephant Mon has been out in the UK at smaller, more specialized retailers for about 2 weeks now - I've seen him at about 3 different outlets here in London. He sells out quickly, though!
I've heard rumours of him turning up at branches of TRU, but all the rest of the mainstream shops and dept. stores seem just to be stocking pegwarmers like Anakin OPD, Obi-Wan CC and Jango KE - so I suppose it's a bit of a mixed blessing, especially as we usually have to pay a bit more, too.

I have found Ephant Mon at the SciFi Expo over this last weekend in Plano, TX. However, I have not seen him in stores.

Now, here is the real question, perhaps Sir Steve can answer it for us...

The Collector's Database on this very site lists his price at the current less than $5.00 range of Star Wars Saga figures. However, at the toy and comic show most dealers were selling Darth Maul, Padme, and Clone Trooper Pilots for about $8-$9 (roughly $3-$4 over store prices), but Ephant Mon was $14-$16! I know Geoff Carlton, the author of the "Star Wars Super Collector's Wishbook" who was at the show. He told me that the standard store price on Ephant Mon would be around $12.00, making $14.00 not a bad mark-up. He also said that it shipped by itself in cases of just Ephant Mons.

Can anyone who has found this figure confirm this price? Geoff Carlton is pretty much up on the prices of things as he is about to finish a second edition of his book. Also, this price difference/case assortment difference may explain why many retailers don't have this figure yet. I went ahead and paid the $14.00 price from a dealer I know at the shows as it was not much more than the nearly $13.00 I'd be paying after sales tax if they are in fact around $12.00 each in the stores. And let me tell you, it is one of the best figures Hasbro has produced in the line. But then I've been wanting a figure of this guy for almost 20 years now! When do we get Hermie Odle, Hasbro?

Are you saying that if I went to TRU or Target tomorrow and found a Ephant Mon, he would be $12.00? If you are, that's crazy....

no, it'd be a miracle- in that he was there in the first place ;)

I ordered mine from www.toybliss.com last week for $7.99. If that is true about the $12 everyone better head over there and order now. It is scheduled to arrive tomorrow from UPS.

My KEBco order has him listed at $5.99 for the "Club Price". $5.99 is the Club Price for all $4.99 figures.

I'm debating whether or not Ephant Mon shipping in cases of just him is a good thing or a bad thing.

On one hand, it's sounds great! This might mean that there will actually be a better chance of getting him when the cases do show up at the major retailers as opposed to just two in a case full of pegwarmers.

On the other hand, it might discourage places like TRU from ordering a case of just one figure thinking they'll be stuck with too much overstock. Which, in all reality, is a good possibility once everyone does get theirs and the hype on this guy dies down. I remember seeing pegs full of Amanaman marked down at TRU after he was hot and he was only half a case.

Any one out there have any type of inside info. on how retailers would react when ordering this sort of item? What's everyone else's opinion on this?

I agree with you Bib, if they do ship him in full cases its going to turn into another Amanaman. There are still numerous packages of him floating around here, all marked down to $4 or $3. I got him in a store that was going out of business for $1.99, and there was still 3 of him left. Epant Man is going to end up the same way.

Nothing around the central part of OH. We got the one Wal-mart here in Athens we visit every weekend and nothing there, as well as no reports from my friends in Columbus. I just Kebcoed mine. If i were to find one, i'll just sell it to one of my friends. The prices these dude is going for on ebay is nuts. Doesn't anybody have patience?

That's a bunch of BS that your buddy Geoff told you at the show. It's a basic figure and will sell at $4.99-$5.99 in all retail stores. The only place that will sell for $12+++ is the show you bought yours and small collector stores. I can't believe the BS that comes out of peoples mouth, Geoff should know better.

The Ephant Mon is currently shipping in the N case. He is two per case along with Lott Dodd, Tusken Raider, Watto and more previously released figures. :) We have been asking Hasbro for almost three years now if one figure could ever be packed 12 to the case. The answer is always NO. I'm not sure where the information about the single figure per case came from, but I must say it is not accurate. However, this is a VERY large figure and most likely will demand a premium price. ($14.99 is a bit to high). Keep looking.

I hope that turns out to be true. Some of my favorite figures from the entire line have been pegwarmers and I would love to be able to pick up a couple of Ephant Mon figures for $2 each.:)

Thank you to all who replied. I guess I got talked into something that was not true. However, in Geoff's defense, he did sell me a big pile of unopened Star Wars toys and miscellaneous items including the Tarpals/Kaadu 12" two pack and the 12" Emperor and Royal Guard for $50.00. There was some junk in the lot but most of it was really good stuff and a bargain at $50.00 for everything!
At least I know that it will be worthwhile to pick some up when the come out at the regular price. It just struck me odd that any dealers that had one charged twice what they did for even Clone Pilots at the show. The explanation I got seemed reasonable given E. Mon's size. Live and learn.

I wouldn't worry about it too much, JediCole. Every collector has been duped at one point or another into paying too much.

I got talked into paying $20 for a POTF2 Speeder Bike, $50 for the Mynock Hunt Cinema Scene and, worst of all, $25 apiece for a POTF2 Boba Fett and Luke X-Wing.:o

Turbowars

Yeah, I bought a POTF2 Tarkin for $20 at a collectors store, so it happens. If I saw a Mon right now I would buy it now for $12.00 heck how about $20;)

In the UK, Ephant Mon is retailing for the usual 5.95 so I can't see why he would any more expensive than usual in the US. It's good that he is the same price as the other figures because you get a lot more for your money, though by that rationale, Taun We should have cost about 99p!

Don't give the scalpers the pleasure of paying their prices, there's no reason why it wouldn't retail at its normal price.

I was thinking about buying this book, but after what I've just read, I'm not so sure. If this Geoff was off the mark on this one how can we be sure that the other values quoted in the book are reliable? I've only found this book once in the UK at 30 which is a fair amount to part with at the best of times.

What do you guys think?
