View Full Version : The date code on the Silver R2 is set back May 25th? (Please post date code)

11-02-2002, 11:29 PM
The date code on the back of R2 is 21451. (2)=2002 (145)=May 25th (1)=batch #1. Please post the date code that is on the back of the your card, should be 5 #'s. Do you think Hasbro made them that far in advance. I wouldn't think these R2's were sitting around in boxes since May. Who knows, Hasbro does stranger things right?

How do you get may 25th from 145? just curious. :)

I dont feel like counting, but maybe May 25 is the 145th day of the year?

Yeah 145= the 145th day of his year, so that = to May25th

How can the TRU R2 card be the same as the TF Vader card? Look at the pictures in SirSteve's collector's database. The text on the back of the cards are different. The Vader card specifically mentions Toy Fair in the third paragraph. The R2 card only has two paragraphs and says "May the Force be with you" Also, the barcodes have switched sides.

Maybe the cards were made at the same time, but they're not the same cards.

I don't know, I didn't bother to check my TF Vader, but the Date code is strange. I guess maybe they did make them at the same time, or maybe these R2 were made back in May for something else, but that fell through? I'll go and check the date code on my TF Vader.

Well the TF vader card is different and the date code is 20261. Jan 26th of 2002.

My date code is 21651.

11-03-2002, 12:31 PM
Mine is the same also 21651

11-03-2002, 04:52 PM
My Date code is 21451

11-03-2002, 04:56 PM
My date code is also, 21451. No big suprise, these were original rumored to be offered earlier in the year. Plus they turned up on Ebay a month or 2 back. :)

Does it matter? The world is falling apart and tthere's a debate about the date code on the flimsy bi-color cardback of a cheaply made giveaway toy. Man, talk about deep.

That's not serious BTW. m'kay? :p

And seriously, why fret about the date code, when R2's legs are on backwards?

I guess Hasbro wasn't expecting any openers, eh?

11-03-2002, 06:01 PM
My date code is 21451 as well.

BTW, I am NOT suprised with this whole "legs on backwards" controversey!

OK, maybe it's not a controversey, but it is indicative of Hasbro quality control.:p

Oh yeah, and the whole "date code" thing is based on the Julian Date system.

2(or 02) would be the year 2002, followed by the number of days into the years (001 being January 1st and 365 being December 31st). The only reason I know is because we use the julian date at work.;)

11-03-2002, 06:05 PM
Doh! Oh well, it's not going to be used as an R2-D2 in any of my little scenes anyway. She's going to be assisting TC-14 serving guests or somthing. I liked that idea that Jargo had, so I decided to borrow it. ;) :D

Who's Julian when he's at home? And why does he get to have a dating system all of his own? I want a jargo dating system. Now, then and sometime whenever. no need for anything more complicated. Some people just like to be officious and make up more complicated systems than is necessary because they feel the need to big up themselves to compensate for having a small thingy. :)

I didn't check the date code on mine last week before i threw the cardback in the trash. I didn't even notice his legs being wrong despite sitting at the PC playing with him for a few hours straight. Golly I'm so observant... But then I never noticed my 2-1B has his legs on backwards for three years. :D

11-03-2002, 06:47 PM
Three years!

Well, in Jargo's defense, who really cared about 2-1B before FX-7 and the Bacta Tank? :D

11-03-2002, 06:56 PM
Good point.:D

BTW, I really could care less about the legs thing. I don't plan on opening him and it only cost me a penny.;)

11-03-2002, 07:02 PM
I was considering not opening mine, but decided that I probably will. Unlike the Toy Fair Vader, atleast the R2-D2 can be in scenes. If there are chrome protocal droids, it seems plausible that somewhere there are chrome astromechs. So I don't mind opening and using him. Where as Vader was never chrome in the movie, so there is no real sense to open him. :)

Jar-Jar, I didn't know you went to Toy Fair 2002! How was it?;)

11-03-2002, 07:12 PM
I didn't, I was one of the lucky few that actually was able to snag a couple from the Star Wars Fan Club. Since I wasn't lucky enough to win the one that Steve gave away. ;) :D

I didn't even try to get a TF Vader. And honestly, I could care less. My collection is complete without it.

Not that I would turn one down if offered mind you.;)

I opened my Toy Fair Vader and have him in a nasty duel with a lightsaber-wielding Ugnaught. Pretty sweet!

(I'm lying, of course :) )

BTW: I always dug 2-1B! He was one of my fav droids as a kid when ESB came out.
