Read what this site is trying to do.

http://www.twotowersprotest.org/index.html

Make sure to read their FAQ section, too. I mean, seriously, what is the logic behind this? Are people really making connections to the movie's title and the 9-11 events? I never even thought of the two being related anyway. But read their FAQ and read some of their crap they say.

This has been posted here in the past, and has been also posted on sites such as "TheOneRing.Net". The site was created as a joke, so don't take it seriously. It has been revealed as a joke numerous times when the operator of the site has come forward. :)

The daft buggers.
Is there any sort of online counter-protest we could register with?

EDIT: Thanks JJB. Yet again, I'm a sucker.

I actually went to their petition and a lot of the signatures have been voided and many of the later sigs are angry responses from fans about the whole issue. I tried to e-mail the address at their website and it says the account does not accept mail any longer. So I e-mailed the person who started the petition and I think it might work. Anyway, if that site is true to its cause....what a sad person.

EDIT: Okay, that explains the no longer accepting mail thing then. Cursed fakes.

Besides the fact the J.R.R. Tolkein's "The Two Towers" was around almost half a century before 9-11

Sheesh! :crazed:

I've known about these protestors for a very long time. I think they're a bunch of stupid morons cause a) there is pretty much no relation between lotr and 9-11 and b) Tolkien wrote lotr over 50 years ago and had no clue what was going to happen on 9-11.

Irony, parody, lampoon. have you not these words and concepts in your daily vocabulary and culture? This site is just like the one that ran the story about the life size Jar Jar Binks being used by children as a sex toy. It's satirical it's having a go at the folk who really set up the insane protests at innocuous events and incidents. Sure Sept 11th is a sensitive subject, for a tiny moment reading the site it stuck in my craw, but once you realise what it is they're doing it actually raises a smile of recognition. They aren't poking fun at anyone other than the zealots who will protest at anything at the drop of a hat. Their choice of subject matter is a little near the knuckle but the best most biting satire always is otherwise it really has no point.

I will clarify further. Old news as in heard and resolved as garbage by all and the cause thwarted. No need for concern.

On a slightly related topic, I told a girl at work that my shirt was made of wax (it's an odd looking shirt and all, but...) an she actually told a bunch of people before I could let her off the hook (which I never intended to employ anyways, I mean, a shirt made of WAX?!?!?)
I just thought that this dovetailed with E.Jargo's comment...
