If clone troopers are loyal to the jedi and to all that is good will they commit the acts of the emperor ?? or will they get wiped out by stormtroopers and the acumulators wiped out by star destroyers coz that would be sooo cool ...they could have like a massive last stand of clone troopers or something coz i cant see the clones wnating to go against the republic???

They won't be going against the republic. They will win the war against the separatists, and then move on to their next mission against the jedi.

No matter what they're capability for independant thought in the battlefield, they are still designed for servitude to the republic. They follow the leadership that eventually leads to Palpatine. I doubt they'll become stormtroopers in the PT...but perhaps the seeds will be planted.

Some will become Stormtroopers, but without a fresh dna sample from Jango Fett, they can't clone anymore. They will either get new samples, or they will be cheap and make clones of clones. Which would explain the deviation of the Stormtroopers in the OT. Either the case of different samples, or genetic drift. Remeber that Lama Su says that there are a million more to come. Likely half of that number is the 10 year old version, so wouldn't be ready for 5 more years. And then the fetusus would take 10 years to mature. So we have another massive influx of CloneTroopers at 17 years before ANH, and then again at 12 years before ANH. :)

And by the look of the stormtroopers.........whoevers dna they used as a base appears to have a mother and father that were also brother and sister....... ;)

Clone Troopers kind of implies that all the troopers are clones... that's pretty much a given, but I think it's wrong to assume that all, or even most, of the stormtroopers that we see in IV,V,VI are clones of anyone. By the time of the OT, the Empire is, for most of the inhabitants of that galaxy, the legitimate government. Little kids may be growing up aspiring to be stormtroopers.

You have the (an) Imperial Academy on Carida... Biggs Darlighter jumps ship after Imperial service... If you're into EU, Davin Felth is a Sandtrooper... I've tried a bunch of combinations, but I can't get Davin Felth to come out anything like Jango Fett... Now, true, Han, Biggs and Davin all chose not to follow the Empire, but they had all chosen it freely at some point to be in the position to walk away from it later...

Am I here talking to myself by the way?

I hear ya! And agree. This is just another potential mess that GL has gotten himself into.

I think the only way out of it, and the coolest, would be to see most or all of the Clone troops and the Kamino backups and facilities, get wiped out by the Jedi in Episode III. Doing this would

a) force the issue of Stormtroopers being real individuals in the OT, and

b) show us finally just how good the Jedi are when face with impossible odds.

Of course, Palpatine would be left without a standing army at the end of the episode, but with his recent political victories (see: Episode III: The Plot as it might be (http://www.sirstevesguide.com/forums/showthread.php?postid=193905#post193905) ) he would have little trouble with volunteers lining up to "preserve" the Republic.

Of course, little do the new "Stormtroopers" know that they are in service of the Sith Emperor. It is only a matter of time until the forced "volunteers" are taken to swell their ranks. Sort of a "sign up or get shot" proposition. Naturally, most of that draft would be occurring off-screen, between Episodes III and IV.

I disagree -- according to the commentary track on Ep. II (dont' read further if you don't wanna be spoilded.....)

The stormtroopers are clones of Jango. Lucas thought it funny/cute to make Jango bump his head while getting on Slave I, just as his clone does in ANH -- it's a trait that's passed on. Thus, I don't think Lucas is thinking about wiping out all clonetroopers. Some -- maybe not all -- stormtroopers WILL BE clones.

I hope there's no stormtroopers in EpIII, I'd rather see the Clones again.

you haven't read the Original Trilogy thread on the Stormtroopers, have you?

My money is on Kamino being destroyed.

It is destroyed in the 52-page special Star Wars Republic comic book that comes out in March or April (not sure, but it should be the on-going comic # 50 and they are on # 47 now - so this might be in May.... grrrrr - I can't wait).

It does count. It is cannon. It will be the only provided reason as to why the Clone Troopers will be different in Episode 3.

Geeze I hope it doesn't take until May!

Right. GL has already said the Clones are stormtroopers.

1. The Emperor probably changed the name to stormtroopers because it does sound a bit scarier and more "Holocaust" like than "clonetroopers". It's symbolic of his new position as Emperor rather than Chancellor.

2. Do the clonetroopers have individual names, or are they numbers? Same with stormtroopers. I know about Davin Felth, but if you're into EU, the Imperial "pleasure-houses" probably existed when they were still called "clonetroopers." Do you go up to a galactic "escort" and say, "Hi, I'm TK421, what's your name?"

Tycho

Nah - I wouldn't give a name. Not if I was a clone. They could never make a paternity suit stick.

That's not my kid! That's TK-423's! :D

LOL!:p

If you want to be technical clones all have the same DNA structure so they would not be able to do a paternity test on them.:)

That would make for an interesting episode of Maury. "Which of 1 million clonetroopers is my baby's daddy?
