What is up with these. I don't remember seeing these mentioned before their release. But then I can see why. I am confused as to why Hasbro would waste resources on these useless, cheesy-looking statues. Hasn't it already been established that stuff like this does not sell?

I realize that there ARE great statues of the characters out there, but these are not them. The only positive thing I can see is that when they go on discount for 1.99, customizers may be able to get extra 12" lightsabers cheap (if the hafts can be removed from the hands) as these look to be useable with the 12" figures.

Yep, that is them. I saw them at Wal-Mart and the lightsaber in the Mace Windu and Anakin I saw seemed to be the same as the ones packaged with the 12" figures. At least the blade looked the same in the way it pulled out. It looked to be shaped so that it would fit right in to the 12" lightsaber hilts. The lightsabers in the collectibles' hands looked a little thinner, but otherwise as if they could be used for he 12" figures if they were not molded in the collectibles' hands. I saw them next to the electronic Jango Fett and I only did a quick look, but they looked to be pretty close to the same size as the 12" line.

i recall hearing about these in february. hasbro displayed the vader figure at toyfair. we saw photos of the other figures in the summer, but they have not seen wide release. i think hasbro decided to make these after applause lost their contract or didn't re-up with lucasfilm.

Well, it looks like the figures should have died with the contract.
