Saw 'em at frank-n-sons (seems to be the only place I can find anything these days). So that means they should be hitting regular retail soon.

They were priced like this:

Horse/rider sets - $10
figure 3-packs - $12
Weapons (Orc battering ram/catapult) - $15

They were really nice looking. Great detail & paint jobs. I really had to hold myself back from buying a Wraith & horse set... I think they will be a few bucks cheaper when they hit retail too.

A slight heads up: The Smeagol figure from TTT is officially hitting stores. This figure has different pic on the box of "Smeagol" which is just a happy version of Gollum. He has new phrases and his face is different. There are people paying RIDICULOUS prices for him on e-bay, but he's being packed 4 to a case in shipments, so if he's anything like his predecessor, he'll warm pegs in a week or so.

Still no Helms Deep 5-packs!! Must keep searching! :D

07-07-2003, 06:42 PM
I'm not bothering with Smeagol. I'll wait for ROTK crawling Gollum. If that works i might buy two and a Smeagol and do a crawling Gollum with a Smeagol face instead. The bendy version is poo. Crawling gollum looks like fun. :)
Just bought my last three horse and rider sets: Arwen/Frodo, Gandalf TW and Aragorn. Now I just need Elrond and Galadriel. Mwahahahaha my collection is almost complete in just three months Mwahahahahahahahaa!!!!!!!

It sucks that they're releasing Smeagol, the Gollum figure sucks soo bad as it is. What a waste!

I hope the AOME figures and stuff hit soon!

Most of everything that Hasbro & Toybiz rehash is a waste if you ask me.

Hey, i picked up an extra Galadriel and Prologue Elf if anybody still needs them. I was hunting around and knew that folks were still looking for them, so feel free to drop me a PM if interested. I got them at wal-mart, so all i want is what i paid for it. They have tags on the bubbles though, so, just so ya know. :D

07-08-2003, 10:23 PM
Got this from gd.com. Have a page of pics of all the LOTR figures thus far. They also have pics of the new ROTK figures (a few more than the ones i posted a few weeks ago). INcluded are the "There and Back again" set and the totally awesome, "amon hen Aragorn" Be sure to check them out!

Hey JM, how's it going there? Im writing to put in my application for your PEW, I traded both mine to Jargo before I could procure myself one - and wouldn't you know it, my "infinite supply" here has dried up. If you've got no other takers, let me know how we can make it happen!
Thanks for any reply,

lol application?, well, JJR, um, what do you think you could bring to this company? do you think you'd be an asset???!

Yeah, sure, it's yours. I'll drop you a PM here shortly. You don't mind that it's tagged, right? :D

07-09-2003, 12:58 AM
Thanks for that link! :D The Uruk w/crossbow & two Orc's look awesome, cant wait to find these!

07-09-2003, 02:10 PM
I still need a Galadriel. I'll be happy to take her off your hands!

All I need is her, Elrond, and Arwen/horse to have everything I want.

07-09-2003, 04:00 PM
Arwen and Asfoloth are great. just got her this morning and ripped the box open faster than is humanly possible. It's a luvverly set! I even like ickle poorly sick Frodo. :crazed:

JJ you should have got your replacement before sendoing off your own. That's naughty, but the lovely gesture is duly noted and I feel all warm and tingly inside that you did that for me. My sig line now means more than it did before.:kiss::p:stupid::D You're a top bloke matey!

07-09-2003, 11:41 PM
Hey no worries, what goes around comes around! I've shipped out 4 PEW's for other collectors to date, and only had to live about 2 days without one in my collection before the forumites pulled through for me (Jedi Master Guyute to be exact - mad props to that Buckeye type). I'll have it soon enough, his spot is still saved on my shelf!!!

I'll have to get over to TRU tomorrow after court to see if the HD pack has worked it's way out west yet.

07-10-2003, 02:14 AM
Yeah, jjreason came through with my PEW for me. :)

And now JMG is also going to hook me up with Galadriel!!! WEEEEE!!!!

Now which one of you is going to get me Elrond and Arwen??? HUH???
:( :( :(

So exciting, now I just need Marvel Legends 4 to show up soon. :)

07-10-2003, 11:09 PM
Cool! My bro just bought me the Helm's Deep Battle Set for my birthday...and only a month late! :D
Haldir frikkin' ROCKS!

07-11-2003, 12:54 AM
Nice gift! Happy late B-Day!

I don't usually do this, but I just bought a second one today to keep sealed.... I know, there's something wrong with me :( .....all that $$$ just to have a sealed and opened Haldir... :stupid: (worth every penny IMO :D )

07-11-2003, 12:56 AM
I wish this Helm's Deep 5-pack would show up somewhere where I could get it.

07-11-2003, 01:15 AM
Yeah, today was actually the 1st time I found mine at regular retail (TRU for $30).

Check your TRU's, that's where everyone seems to be finding them right now. Good luck!

07-11-2003, 10:49 AM
No HD-5 pack sets in Ohio yet. I'm starting to lose my patience!! It's been quite some time since these badboys were supposed to be showing up in the mid-west, and nada!! Bleh!! :D

07-11-2003, 11:05 AM
Think how we islanders feel. You guys get it months ahead of us. And it won't even hit regular retail just the specialist places. At least that's what i've heard.
But as I've ordered mine i know it's going to arive and all I have to worry about is finding the missing single figures I want:
Elrond, Galadriel, Sam in Moria, Frodo/Sam w/ boat, BK Uruk-Hai.
I wasn't going to buy more Hobbit re-issues but I want the Dwarf skeleton and the Frodo and boat for customising reasons. And the Uruk is just a nice adition to the ranks even if he is a disguised Ugluk body. Anything to create a varied Uruk army.
They will be mine, oh yes. just as soon as the damn credit card bills are paid... :)

07-11-2003, 06:48 PM
I bought my first miniature piece today, the Ringwraith on horse set for 11.95 CDN at my comic store. They had most of the riders: Gandalf, Aragorn, wraiths, wargs, etc. They had a few army builder packs - Rohorrim, Moria Orcs - but no Khazad Dun playset. Still not sure Im going to collect these, but I wanted the dark rider just for display. He doesn't do much, but the sword can be removed from his hand. Nice detail, including a couple of nasty bloody scratches on the steed!

07-13-2003, 01:41 AM
I think TWL Frodo is supposed to be shipped one to a case now in new series 4 cases. Does anyone now of this for sure?

For my birthday today I got Mordor Sam and a Narsil Replica ( )! They are awesome, especially Narsil. It is an incredibly beautiful sword with the gold and antique silver platings and elvish engravings, and it is huge!!! It even makes Glamdring look small! I love how the hilt is straight and cross-shaped too, it makes it look different from all of the other swords which have curved hilts. I got some non-LotR stuff too. Pretty good day, overall. :)

07-13-2003, 04:15 PM
Nice, another B-Day here @SSG. Happy Birthday Sidious! :)

Those Sword replicas are so awesome.... I drool every time I see them!

07-13-2003, 06:43 PM
Nice presents, Darth Sidious. I would have to say of all the swords in LOTR, my favorite is the Uruk Hais'. They just look very emotionless and hastily made. As for series 4 all i ever see is King Theoden and the occasional Sam in Morder, oh well, i would have to say it is a boring wave of figures anyways.

07-13-2003, 07:53 PM
The Green Dragon has a TRU employee reporting in that ROTK figures should be hitting retail July/August. I'm taking this with a pinch of salt though.
Check out the report here: http://www.thegd.com/

07-13-2003, 10:11 PM
I pre-ordered a bunch of them from amazon.com and a majority of the ship dates are Aug 10th, i think. Some of them are in November too; but regardless, i won't hafta bother hunting for them. With school and crap, it'll be hella easier.

07-14-2003, 03:42 AM
Looks like it's time to start haunting TRU's & KB's again...

I wonder if they're going to fix the front pics on the new packaging after ROTK is released? (the first wave has figure pics instead of actual character shots like FOTR & TTT figures)

07-14-2003, 05:35 AM
i dunno i sure hope so though!!

like it was discussed on another forum (LOTRG) i hope that these are just like preview figs!! And the reason that TB didnt put the actors pics on the bottom corner or any corner is due to spoilers!!

07-14-2003, 07:06 AM
The ones with the figure pics are probably preview samples. Once the trailer hits the theaters in August and the DVD is released for TTT then the packaging should change to have the actors pics instead. preview packaging is always different slightly and the ones on sale in Singapore will most likely not be the same packaging when they hit the western world. But the release is probably going to be closer to the end of August to coincide with the DVD release. The 10th is more likely a warehousing date. Of course some stores will cash in and shove the stuff out early. But That's big business for you. Good that they're starting to show in August though... if it's true.

07-14-2003, 08:57 AM
According to thegd, there have been sightings for ROTK figures already. One of their fellas over there picked up: Sam, Frodo and Eomer at a local Target of his in the LA area i believe. There is a reciept as well. Seems these are hitting shelves now!!! Also, there is still a picture of the figure on these boxes instead of the movie character. HH! :D

07-14-2003, 09:01 AM
the Helm's Deep 5-Pack and about 5 Sauron's at my local TRU this past weekend. I almost picked them up instinctively, but fought the urge. It is depressing, but I think my collecting days are numbered.

(Edit) - Oh, yeah. There were three Elf Archer/Berserker Uruk-Hai 2-packs as well.

07-14-2003, 10:07 AM
It would be very cool if the ROTK figures were hitting. No sign of the Helm's Deep pack or Armies of Middle Earth.

07-14-2003, 10:23 AM
I guess the three figures are teaser figures then. What's the betting that once the trailer for ROTK shows the packaging WILL change. I wasn't aware of the stuff showing in LA but my guess would be that they aren't supposed to be putting them out. It's just either stupid staff or profit greedy managers.
Annyhoo, i'm not that bothered seeing as us in the UK will be the last people to get them.

07-14-2003, 11:15 AM
Yeah, actually an SSG'er reported finding these at the Target in Pasadena (L.A.) this weekend over in the "just found USA" section.

So if these are preview figures, and they do plan on changing the packaging, that'll probably mean scalpers will be all over these..... :dead:

If anyone wants to see the figures that the guy found, here is the picture...

07-14-2003, 05:02 PM
Mmmmmmmmmm........blue.............

I wish I could see the figures a little better, I haven't taken the time to go looking for pics of the ROTK figures yet. I had kind of imagined the packaging would be a little darker, but that's a great colour. I'm very excited about these......

No mention of Shelob though, or a "captive" Frodo or anything. Im spoiler free, which leads me to wonder whether or not they're even going to deal with that aspect of the story. NOTE: PLEASE DON'T TELL ME!!!!! I CAN WAIT!!!! MY NEW SPOILER FREE ATTITUDE HAS SET ME FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D :crazed:

07-14-2003, 06:55 PM
Eomer looks sweet! in fact all of the three found so far look tip top. Can't wauit for these to reach the island outposts here. Someoe was saying that Eomer seemed a little shorter than the older figgies. If anyone here finds Eomer check it out and relay your findings. Are TB skimping and reducing the size of figures on us? It's what Hasbro did with star wars. What all manufacturers do eventually. Same price, less product over all. Just a little concerned we're being had over.
But the new figures do look splendid. :)

07-14-2003, 08:49 PM
I called around tonight to a few local TRU's and nothing. One store told me that they had the HD set, but sold out. Another store, the guy wouldn't take the time to see what new figures they had. When i informed him that EVERY OTHER TRU IN THE STATE had looked for me, he said it was up to "the store manager" and then when i informed him that everybody else i had talked to at that store was courteous enough to look, he got snippy. I told him it was 40 min drive and that if i was to drive out there and find out they had nothing and that i wasted my time, i was going to raise hell. I told him that he had lost my business and that he should learn to get off his a-- and do his job. Good times

in closing, nothing on Ohio yet. crap! :D

07-14-2003, 08:52 PM
Yeah there is STILL nothing new in way of LOTR figures here in Colorado.

07-14-2003, 09:20 PM
Anyone out there seeing any extra Easterling Warriors lying around in your area? He seemed so common at first that I actually passed on him, and then they all seemed to just disappear from the stores all of a sudden.

07-15-2003, 12:19 AM
Easterling has dried up here, quite some time ago Roojay. I too passed on this figure (as well as Faramir and Legolas Rohan Armor) when they came out, and have only just gotten the Easterling and finally made a reasonable deal for this Legolas. I don't have Faramir, but he's not burning a hole in my britches just yet. I tried to buy Grima and Theoden (no armor) today, and just couldn't. I just don't think I need them. I will likely buy Eomer and call it quits until the blue packages start showing up. Speaking of which, it was neat to see the teaser figs - good on that guy who took the pics right away. I don't think I'll be getting any of those, however. I want the new Aragorn especially bad, in hopes of it being an acceptable sculpt. Check Amazon.com for Easterlings, Roojay, it was in stock last night for 8.99 a pop.

07-15-2003, 12:40 AM
Sadly it seems that the Easterling has dried up around here too (not that it was ever really that common). I kinda wish I would've gotten a few of 'em now....

07-15-2003, 07:32 AM
Apparently Eowyn and treebeard are out i the Phillipines and Warg and Sharku are out in the states with repacks of a few other things like Aragorn and Brego and Wraith and steed. According to reports at LOTRG. That's really cool. Well for the other side of the world that is.... :(

07-15-2003, 10:42 AM
wohooo!! Scored Smeagol and the Helms Deep 5-pack today in Dayton!!! Stupid store!!! I shall never return there again!! :crazed:

Halidir looks excellent and Smeagol is a decent re-hash. His lines are pretty good quality too. HH! :D

Darth Sidious
07-15-2003, 01:11 PM
I went to KB and scored a Gimli and Uruk-Hai, which I desperately needed. I always like to build up my Orc Legions and this Uruk seemed to flesh my Legion out a bit. As for Gimli, I have the other one with the pedestal and no helmet and no cape, and this 2-pack one just blows him away. The helmet looks great, the cape looks great, and he looks much more like Gimli. Great price at $9, too! ;)

07-15-2003, 05:59 PM
I finally got Eomer today. Bright green eyes - in lovely contrast to the evidently-brown eyes the character displays on the package...... near Hasbro like attention to detail on that one. I noticed he's kind of small in stature like my Rider of Rohan as well - were these people frickin' midgets? What the heck? :D (Honestly, I think it's correct to have the men shorter than the Elves and Orcs, but my Rider of Rohan is a real shrimp!!!).

Darth Sidious
07-15-2003, 08:06 PM
I know what you mean jjreason, that Rider of Rohan is pretty cool looking but he is about as tall as Grishnakh. In the book they were described as fair men, tall and strong. He looks strong enough I guess but he is a bit vertically challenged, so to speak.

07-15-2003, 10:38 PM
"Shorty Eomer". I remember seeing this figure on the shelf before seeing TTT & thinking he was going to be a short guy in the flick! The height and gaping mouth do take away from these figures, that's for sure...

Oh yeah, It seems that a few Target's out here are having a sale on TTT figures. Lots of the Army builder wave, Gollums, Theodens & Mordor Sams to go around. Plus the 2-packs, horse/rider sets, & 12" are on sale.

Single figs: $5.94
2-packs: $10.10
Horse/Riders $14.44
(forget how much the 12"ers were)

Its about time Target put Theoden on sale. Anybody have a Target(s) around them that doesnt sale LOTR? Ive got one nearby my work that doesnt have them and hasnt had them since the second movie came out. But they can stock that Hulk crap.

07-16-2003, 09:48 AM
My Target is having the sale but ONLY on the 2-packs now. They're $10.10. Everything else- full price for now. I kinda want to get an Aragorn and Brego.

07-16-2003, 11:41 AM
LOL there is one Target that never seems to have any LOTR out here in North Hollywood. It's a crappy store in a crappy area anyway.

I scored 2 of the Elven Archer/Uruk 2 packs, I think $5.05 for each of these figures is a great deal! Also got another Wraith horse/set..... four more to go!

Hopefully a few Easterlings will pop up as well!

Darth Sidious
07-16-2003, 12:06 PM
Yes, I really want Target to rid themselves of those Theodens...They have 11 at my Target and those 11 have been there for 6 months. They have a layer of dust on top. That's all they have too, nothing else. :( :frus:  :dead:

07-16-2003, 11:38 PM
(sigh) K kids, tis official: we got TTT versions of Boromir AND Gimli. I wish Hasb- oops! hehehehehehe Toybiz would knock it off with the repacks. pics of both:

I thought my LOTR collecting was done when i got all of Series 4, but noooooo, Toybiz has to keep pumpin' it out!! darnet shucks!! :D

07-16-2003, 11:51 PM
Those are exactly like the versions of these figures I got in the 9 pack, from what I can see. My Gimli came with 2 single bladed axes as well as the double bladed one - other than that, they're the same.

I do love those figures though. Well worth it if you don't yet have them and can find them at retail.

07-17-2003, 01:08 AM
They are great figures, and do look cool on single cards.... But I wonder why they didn't include Gimli's cape? He looks much better with it IMO, and He did have it on for most of TTT if I remember correctly.

Strange... Oh well, doesn't really matter to me, I won't be getting these re-packs anyways!

They also report on a new "whiter" Gandalf. Now that's one I will be getting (If I can find one). Never did understand the creme colored version!

Here's a link to a comparision pic:

Darth Sidious
07-17-2003, 03:47 PM
I've seen that before and Gandalf the Whiter DOES look at least twice as good. Just that coloring makes the whole figure look better! That old coloring is one of two things I hate about this figure. The coloring is one, the face is the other. His facial expression should be like the photo on the package! Stern and regal. Not the serene old man face he has now. In my opinion the current face ruins all appearance of intensity in battle scenes and poses.

07-21-2003, 04:58 AM
Big ROTK score for me today! :D :D

Came across a whole section of ROTK wave one figures, plus the horse/rider sets at Target in Seal Beach CA.

The Sharku & Warg is just awesome! A instant favorite for me. Might have to get another one to make a custom orc warg rider. The wargs closing mouth feature works great, and they used a tougher rubber type material on his head than they did with the cave Troll. I don't think this one is going to deteriorate as easily.

The other Horse rider sets were the previously released ringwraith & Aragorn sets.

The Sam & Frodo in orc armor are both completely awesome figures as well! Great likenesses, excellent detail, great articulation, and no action features. These are ideal examples of how figures should be done IMO, plus they just look damn cool with their helmets on!

The Eomer Puzzles me....... The figures got a nice look, the sculpting is great (although the likeness is not)...... But he is way out of scale. It looks to me like he's shorter than the TTT "shorty version"!!! WTF happened here?? He looks like a tall dwarf when stood next to the elven archer!!! ..ah well, customize him with someone elses legs and guess he could look better.....

The Aragorn is the Helms Deep boxed set version (with the strands of hair painted in his head). Nice figure, at least they repacked a different version than the previous single card release.... (I passed on it)

No Uruk Hai w/crossbows to be found :(

Check yer Targets!

Must be fun finding new LOTR stuff. I havent come across anything noteworthy in awhile. Fortunately things have finally been put on clearence. Unfortunately the Ugluk w/hobbit, Grishnak w/hobbit, King Theoden, and Light up Sting Frodo still dont appeal to anybody. I have yet to find the Helms Deep set either.

07-21-2003, 09:53 AM
All my stores atr still bone dry with Lord of the Rings stuff. It's making me a little crazy going to stores day after day and finding nothing! I hope the new stuff shows soon!

07-21-2003, 10:48 AM
Sorry guys, didn't mean to tease you or anything like that!

There were about 20 (or so) pegs full of ROTK figures at that Target, so I'm sure they'll be around in large qauntities when they hit. Just keep checking, they're bound to show up (I would hope!).

07-21-2003, 10:55 AM
I might begin to check my Targe's (i prounce it like "tar-she' stretch that E like it's an A.. yeah, i'm THAT cool ;) ) here shortly. I pre-ordered about the first 4 waves from Amazon, but i need to get the deluxe rider sets. I dunno how good i'll do though. My local Target has had it's pegs full of JUST King Theoden since January. I might get lucky though!! Plus, my folks are in Chicago till Tuesday, i'll have them browse around. :D

07-21-2003, 11:30 AM
Yeah, I'm sure that's why they started clearancing out the TTT stuff, to make way for the ROTK stuff.

.........still trying to grasp why they made the new Eomer so short

07-21-2003, 04:35 PM
I just got back from So. Cal last night (I was there for the San Diego Comic Con) and I found all kinds of goodies down that way - in the con and out. I managed to finally get ahold of Sauron at a TRU in Valencia and came across ROTK wave one at an LA area Target.
I haven't compared my Eomer to any other figures, so I can't comment on his scale, but I can say that he is totally freakin' awesome otherwise (here's a little tip - be sure and check a few Eomer's when you find 'em; it seems the paint jobs on these guys can really affect the quality of the likeness, which in my opinion is actually quite good when it's been painted right. Most of the ones I saw looked a bit off, but I managed to find one that looks pretty accurate). The detail on his costume is pretty darned amazing.

K-A-K - I have two Targets within about 15 minutes of me each...one is always very well stocked (although not with anything other than the standard peg warmers), and the other doesn't even have a LOTR area. They keep telling me that they will...but it has been over a year and still has not happened.

07-21-2003, 10:59 PM
I found the remnants of a newly opened case of wave IV of TTT at my WalMart today. I finally got a Theoden in armor, which is good because I had been contemplating buying the inferior "other" version. Still no sign of ROTK or AOME on the pegs at regular retail, and the AOME are moving only "so so" from my comic store.

07-23-2003, 08:51 AM
Those of you lucky enough to find the Helm's Deep pack, how much did it cost? I'm contemplating pre-ordering it from Entertainment Earth, as the price seems about in-line with what I'd expect to pay at retail, but I haven't seen it at retail, so I don't know what it should really cost. Also, what stores have people been finding it at? I've heard TRU, any others?

I found ROTK Eomer and Frodo in Orc Armor at Target yesterday. The new blue packaging is cool but it would look better if it had a picture of the character in the lower right corner instead of the figure. We know what the figure looks like- we're obviously looking at it!

Many thanks to Jedi Master Guyute (who i might add seems to be the luckiest person i know when it comes to getting LOTR figures) for helping me obtain a single carded Grishnak. As for the five pack everyday i go to Entertainment Earths site and put it in my cart, only to decide against it and hope i see it at retail. I dont know whether thats wise or not though. I never once seen the 9 pack at any stores.

07-23-2003, 02:47 PM
I would also like to thank JMG for hooking me up with Galadriel (FINALLY!), and Elektra from Marvel legends. What a guy!

Now get to work on that Elrond figure JMG!

07-23-2003, 03:23 PM
lol I'm just in the right place at the right time!!! Or shall i say, when it comes to collecting, the force is strong with me?!? :crazed: I work for Pepsi, and they ALWAYS have me at Wal-Mart and Meijer stores, which carry lots of LOTR things. Plus, i go hunting pretty much every night around 11 pm and don't quit till 1 or 2 in the morning, time permitting.

As for Elrond, i'll be in Columbus this weekend and i hear that some random FOTR figures are popping up at KB stores, i believe, so i'll keep my eyes peeled. I just don't get Elrond craze. I saw him warming pegs for weeks in columbus and i got one the day i saw him. I don't get how he became that rare that fast!

glad everbody got their figures safetly, well, i think one package is still en route! HH!! :D

07-23-2003, 05:07 PM
I didn't start collecting LOTR figures until after TTT figures were out unfortunately, so I missed out on him, and Arwen w/Frodo.

But one day, i will get them.

Why don't you send me your peg-warming Elrond, and get another for yourself?... ;)

07-23-2003, 08:12 PM
Hehehehe Elrond is all that eludes me from FOTR. I started late and hit heavy with purchases but it's paid off for a beautiful collection. All I need to do is find the odd army builder to swell the ranks of Elves and Easterling. Not being a completist has helped because I can't see the point of buying every repack. My philosophy is one of every character and three or four of army builders. I've ended up with so many darn Hobbits already I'll be giving them away soon. I'm waiting for the second of August because then I can charge to my cards again. Another hard hit should have me complete up to ROTK. Maybe even with these early figs and the Warg. Can't wait.
Bit of a buggar that star wars figgies are starting to get good again. But if TB ditch LOTR then it won't hurt going back to SW.

07-24-2003, 02:13 AM
Im trying for only one of each character as well (says the guy with 3 Legolas so far), and Im only buying Orcs on sale, or if they come in a 2 pack where I badly want the other character (Elven Archer, for example). I haven't bought any riders at all, though the Warg will tempt me for sure. The pics of the Aragorn that comes with Brego show a very nice cloth cape - can anyone who has that set let me know how the figure is? I really don't like mine (from the 9 pack) all that much, and want to upgrade. I may have to wait for the ROTK versions to see one I want badly enough to spend money on.

07-24-2003, 10:18 AM
I held out on buying an Aragorn figure because I wanted the perfect Viggo figure. And I settled with Helm's Deep Aragorn. The likeness is excellent and the sword and knife are great accessories.

The King Aragorn figure is also very cool looking- thats the only other Viggo figure I'lll get.

07-24-2003, 11:40 PM
The King Aragorn figure is also very cool looking- thats the only other Viggo figure I'lll get.

Did you see the picture of "Weathertop Stirider" that someone posted? They finally seemed to get the head sculpt right.

07-25-2003, 01:22 AM
They have a pic of that figure at the green dragon (theGD.com). I agree with you, that looks like it may be the best Aragorn yet!!

07-25-2003, 02:41 AM
Couldn't find it at the Green Dragon, but I'd really like to see it...

07-25-2003, 02:51 AM
Oops! I was getting "Weathertop" Strider mixed up with the "Amon Hen" Aragorn. That being said, I don't think I've ever heard of a Weathertop Strider figure.

Is this the one you were talking about Tom, or is there another Aragorn coming out?

07-25-2003, 08:06 AM
That's possibly just one more prototype we won't get. TB are more likely to just re-release the strider from the horse and rider set than produce a new figure. Sad but probably true given the showing so far. Plus i think someone said that this could be a rotocast vinyl figure not a 6 inch one. dunno though. time will tell.

kool-aid killer
07-25-2003, 08:26 AM
If it is a 6incher, thats the best likeness of him hands down. Too bad we had to get hobbo Aragorn first though. The Strider version wasnt too bad come to think of it.

07-25-2003, 03:57 PM
Yeeaahh! I found the Helm's Deep 5-Pack at TRU this afternoon! Haldier is great figure too! Too bad the others are just old favorites but they're good anyways.

07-25-2003, 04:32 PM
Sweet deal Jayspawn! Haldir is nice, eh?

Just a heads up: Target has lowered the clearance on their 2-packs to $8.32. Not bad, just scored another elven archer/berserker to add to the ranks. Surprisingly they had three of these sets there at this price!

I couldn't tell if they lowered the other stuff or not. The tags hadn't been adjusted and the price scanners are non-functional at the crappy Target by my work  Just waiting for them to go down lower on the horse sets...... I'll snag an Aragorn/Brego set to use the horse for Eomer or someone.....

07-25-2003, 04:40 PM
Yes I've decided to upgrade Haldir to my 'Favorite' LOTR figure. Saruman is my 2nd.

A local Target had ROTK figures out. I picked up Eomer, Orc Frodo, and Orc Sam. And whoever posted that Eomer is short was very right. He looks real out of place when compared to others. It was great to finally find something new too.

07-27-2003, 03:34 AM
TheGD.com reports that the re-pack Boromir has an additional dagger that didn't come with the previous releases.

Kinda cool I guess.... Now I'll probably want to buy one if I see it (I'm a sucker)...
Here's a link to a pic:

07-27-2003, 10:57 AM
I'll pass. I got Boromir the 1st time in the FOTR 2-Pack and I'm just happy with him. This repack should be coming out soon if he's gonna be in Two Towers packaging. The ROTK figures are starting and all.

07-27-2003, 10:54 PM
Just bagged myself a further four Easterlings and a second Rohirrim soldier. I'm still waiting for my fellowship 9-pack and helms deep to ship out to me. So i cancelled a star wars pre-order and reused the cash I'd put aside for it to get these army builders. It'll be ages before ROTK stuff hits my neck of the woods so i might as well build up the forces of darkness for old Sauron eh? :D Besides which, two Easterlings looks silly. So I had to get them some company. I'm hoping there's more left once my credit cards paid off beginning of August, go back and bag 4 more. The Easterling rocks!

07-28-2003, 12:12 AM
Oops! I was getting "Weathertop" Strider mixed up with the "Amon Hen" Aragorn. That being said, I don't think I've ever heard of a Weathertop Strider figure.

Is this the one you were talking about Tom, or is there another Aragorn coming out?

Yeah. That's the one I meant. I guess I got a little mixed up. But hand him a torch and he'll fit either location. Awesome head sculpt, finally!

07-28-2003, 02:36 AM
Jargo, what happened to getting just a few Lord of the Rings figures????

07-28-2003, 08:52 AM
Erm, erm..... Well i was looking at how many repacks are coming and looking at my collection and thinking there'd be not much to buy in the near future and i looked at my hero section and it was plentiful, looked at my dark forces section and noticed that the Orc army was looking good but I had just two lonesome Easterlings and they looked silly, So i reasoned that my heroes outnumbered the bad guys and needed to up the stakes. So that's why i bought them. Not to mention that it'll look cool. I think i'll stop at six though and save some cash for Harad archers, another blisteringly cool design. Costume wise that is. There's also the Uruk bowman. I think four will suffice. :) I just can't help myself, start off with the best intentions and then get caught up in it all and before i know where i am I've got a room full. But these are so pretty and shiny and theys is my precioussssssssssess.......

07-29-2003, 01:58 AM
One of my Targets got in a TON of AOME figures. No playsets unfortunatly but lots of riders and figure sets. Incredible, they look better in person. I believe the Riders (Gandalf, Warg, and Aragorn) were $6.99 and figure sets $8.99. They are going for a ton on Ebay.

I really want the Saruman's Chambers set.

Before i went to work today, my mother and i went to a nearby TRU and found a Helms Deep set way up top. Luckily an employee was kind enough to pull it down for me. Haldir is awesome (too bad its the only way to get him, at least for now) and Gimli isnt bad either. My mother found me a single carded Moria Orc too. Overall a good day for LOTR collecting.

07-29-2003, 10:53 PM
Repacks repacks everywhere, not a drop to drink!!

Repacked Boromir and Gimli (helms deep) are surfacing. Both are packed in the TWo Towers red packaging and i believe Boromir has a new dagger (whooptee s----) but myself being a tool of toys, i'll pick them up. I remember way back when i found my Twilight frodo and i said i was done w/ LOTR figures until ROTK, but no, Toybiz has to keep putting out rehashes and crap. I could just NOT buy them, but i don't do things that way...hehehhehehehehe HH! :D

Some interesting news from lordoftheringsguide.com forums, it has been announced that the Armored Aragorn figure w/ Anduril, the one shown at the convention (Not sure which convention?), is supposed to have 30 points of articulation!!! Just thought I'd post that.

07-30-2003, 02:18 AM
30 points is great news - Marvel Legends Aragorn! Hopefully that's the one with the improved face sculpt shown in that earlier post.

Still no ROTK stuff here yet, but I did get a box from an ebay purchase today - Legolas in Rohan Armor, Faramir (2 of the best likenesses I've ever seen on action figures), an Orc Overseer and Newborn Lurtz. I really like them, but that damned Uruk fetus gives me the heebees....

07-30-2003, 08:43 AM
I don't like the idea of too much articulation because it's too many places for the things to break but i shall wait and see how it turns out.

The Uruk fetus looks like snot. Green? I thought they were red skinned? I shall be repainting mine even though it's underscaled. And I will be getting rid of the egg sack thing because it's garbage. I'll make my own that looks right.

Recieve my four easterlings and a Rohirrim soldier today. All fine and dandy and I remembered not to twist the Easterlings hands until they'd been in the freezer for a few minutes first. I'm a slow learner but at that price i'm not risking anymore torn wrist joints. I'm now just short of the Elven archer, prologue Elf and waiting on my fellowship and helms deep gift sets to arrive. It's the waiting on pre-orders that kills me. :(

07-30-2003, 03:02 PM
Jargo- you still need a Prologue Elf and Elven Archer? I'll keep my eyes peeled. If memory serves, don't the Archers come in just the two packs though?

No ROTK stuff here in Ohio (even though GD reported finding figures in Huber Heights, which is about 20 min from my house and i freakin' stopped there on Monday on my way home from Dayton, but nooooooooo, nothing good for Mike!! not that it matters, i pre-ordered about 17 figures from amazon, but still, i need the beast packs and it's always giddy to find new stuff in stores). :crazed:

Speaking of new stuff, has ANYBODY else seen that weird Hulk doll at targets?!?!? The one where you squeeze his belly and he does that high pitched moan thing. My lord, that thing is freaky!!! I waved that thing at one of my friends and she actually screamed...my friend dave also dared me if i waved it at him again he'd punch me...yeah, he did....lol anyway, back on topic...yay LOTR figures...or something ;)

07-30-2003, 04:33 PM
Yeah the archer comes with the berserker. But that's cool. If you see any let me know although I think we might need to chat first maybe about shipping rates and payment method and all of that crud. Had problems getting stuff from the states before now. Canada - no probs, States - well whatever can go wrong will go wrong! :)

I've decided that I'm going to be getting rid of a chunk of my star wars collection to make way for the LOTR stuff. So one of my shuttles will be going. haven't decided what else yet. LOTR is much cooler. There's less to collect for a start and army building doesn't take so long to do because the figures fill the space faster. :) So ultimately it works out cheaper in the long run. Bonus! :D

07-30-2003, 07:09 PM
Anyone else notice that the Helm's Deep Haldir is actually a repainted Elven Archer with a new head sculpt? Not a big deal to me, but I was surprised to find that out when I opened mine.

Hey Jargo, there are still plenty of Elven Archer/Berserker two-packs in my area. I'm pretty sure I can even get them at Target's clearance price (I think that's $10.44 US). I might be able to help you out with that one. Drop me a line if you're interested and I'll do some checking.

07-30-2003, 07:16 PM
Great news! I picked up Eowyn and "9 Treebeard this afternoon at Wal-Mart. They also has Gollum and Smegol there as well, I passed on those. They were $6.93. Good prices too!

Treebeard is the exact same figure as the BIG one, personally I like the big one better. Eowyn is cool, and has a pretty good likeness to Miranda Otto. She has very articulated arms and legs and comes with a sword. No sign of Prologue Bilbo, there were a few spots missing so I believe somebody beat me to them.

Buy hey, new figures out!

07-30-2003, 08:07 PM
hey guys, I really appreciate the help but my only concern is the high cost of shipping from the states. I'm not too clued on it having only bought from collectors gallery online and I got stung for really high import duties :( doubled the cost of the stuff I bought. So i'm just a little wary of it now. Anyone shed any light on this if you've traded with or sent stuff to the UK before? I mean it sounds great and I'd love to ay yeah send em over. but I don't want either me or you to end up losing out. From my end I know that shipping to canada is cheap having sent stuff to JJ and it must have been okay from canada to here. Just don't know how this works out. So i'm going to say a tentative yes but with checking out first. :)

Looks like we won't be getting any ROTK stuff at retail until the end of August at the earliest. Absolutely nothing at the TRU store i went to today. just old old stock. And not much of that even. I've pretty much decided to stop going out to TRU and i'll just sort everything out online.

Does it strike anyone else as weird that they made an eight inch treebeard? It just seems like such a weird item to shove into the line now. What's next, a four inch Sauron? :crazed:

Anyone downloaded the ROTK trailer? Cool isn't it? :D I'm sensing 6 inch gondorian soldier sometime soon.......

Oh and US $10.44 = GBP £6.45 which is pretty good. Our 2-packs are normally £14.99 And it's £9.99 for a single figure. Checked out of curiosity. :)

07-30-2003, 08:39 PM
Um, pssssssst, Jargo, did you get the trailer off of um........other sources or is it posted somewhere?!?! Help a brother out!!! :D

07-30-2003, 08:50 PM
Whooop, nevermind, found it. I have to go change my pants now. :D AWESOME!

07-30-2003, 09:42 PM
I stil haven't found it, and would still like some help in seeing it...

Jargy, I checked the US Postal Service website for shipping prices to the UK - I'm afraid to say the cheapest form of shipping for that approximate size packaging is Global Priority Mail for $15.00 US (about 9.28 GBP).

Here's a link to their pricing for future reference:

07-30-2003, 11:19 PM
I found the remnants of those ROTK figures at WM today too. All they had were Smeagol and Gollum (snagged a Smeagol :D ). I really wish they had the Eowyn & Bilbo, but they will come with time!

Also found the red box TTT Smeagol at TRU, the new blue boxed Sauron at a KB outlet, and a few AOME at a Target (really did some running around today :crazed: ). Didn't buy any of this other stuff, but I was tempted on the blue boxed Sauron just to keep sealed (I already have the red boxed one opened up).

Looks like the LOTR stuff is starting to really hit the stores folks!

08-01-2003, 11:55 AM
Yessssssss! The Twilight Frodo is miiiiiiine!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D

Scored this elusive guy yesterday in a trade (for an item that I bought for $10). I'm a happy man now, with complete FOTR & TTT collections!! Now it's on to ROTK.... I wonder what the ROTK chase figure is going to end up being.....

Yay! :crazed:

08-01-2003, 01:59 PM
Congrats on Twilight Frodo!!! I know of a few people who have given up all hope on him and damn near throwing in the towel. patience, you will find the TWF!!!! :D

Nothing ROTK here in Ohio, at least, where i shop. I just want the beast packs considering i ordered 16 ROTK figures from amazon. C'mon Targets!! stop sucking!! :)

08-01-2003, 05:17 PM
Thanks man! I know it's silly, but I feel much better now that he's in my clutches!

Ah, the important things in life: food, Twilight Frodo, water, shelter..... :crazed:

08-01-2003, 08:51 PM
Edoras Eowyn will likely be the chase figure or prologue Bilbo. Neither is that interesting to kids. It's just us mad collectors who go nuts for stuff like that. Eowyn is packed one per case so far. Bilbo hasn't shown up yet.
I'd rather have Bilbo than Eowyn actually. She's a nice figure but the prototype version was a hundred times better looking. Bilbo will go nicely with a Gollum figure. Eowyn had better outfits they could have done, more regal ones, more attractive ones. We have a fighting Eowyn in armour so why did we need an Edoras Eowyn fighting posed too? Bit of a waste of a figure IMO. I'll buy her if I see her but she won't get preference over Bilbo.

08-01-2003, 09:56 PM
I could see those being the chase figures, especially the Bilbo. That would go along with their theme (since traveling Bilbo was pretty hard to track down).

I took JMG's que and pre-ordered those ones (along with a couple others) at Amazon. They say the estimated ship date is Nov 17th, hopefully they'll come through! If I see 'em at a store I'll still buy 'em though. I fold for new LOTR every time :stupid:

08-01-2003, 10:03 PM
hehehehehehe Eh, i feel like a schmuck for ordering them so early, but i figured it like this:

1. I'll be back at OU, which is in Athens, OH, which is 60 miles from Columbus, aka: civilization. We have ONE wal-mart and that is it.
2. It took me quite a bit of time to find some random figures with the TTT figures due to me being in the boondocks, so i figure i'll save myself the time and the money.
3. Plus, it'll rule when i come home at random times and then for winter break and have toys waiting for me. It'll be like Christmas!!! I'm sure my checking account will disagree with my giddiness though. :crazed:
I know the earlier waves ship in a few weeks and the rest in november. Can't wait!!

Speaking of checking accounts and whatnot, i got my star wars credit card today!!!!! Planning on hitting Targets looking for the beast packs. Every time i call they say they haven't gotten stuff in, but later i read on BBS that people are finding stuff there. I figure once i pick up my Family Guy and Robin Hood DVD's, i'll hunt for some ROTK beast packs!
"Charge them, I will!!" :D

08-01-2003, 10:16 PM
PAH! no ROTK at all until September in the UK. :( Still, it gives me a month to build up my FOTR and TTT armies. :)

08-02-2003, 01:49 AM
Jpak..im green w/ envy!! im sooOooO jealous!! Ive been looking for that guy for what seems like 8 months!!! Neways iwas pretty piessed when i found out that he was like 1 in every 12 cases!! ( seing how i liek clear figs)

But its true scalper scum is the onlu reason why its value is its value!!

Man i wish i could find this fig soo bad!!!

08-04-2003, 09:29 AM
Interesting story: I'm on my way home from the Pepsi Plant this morning and i decide to swing by wally world. I walk back to toys and they're stocking crap and whatnot. I see there is nothing new (aside from the Marvel Legends figures) and i figure i'll ask the toy lady if they've gotten anything new in. I do and she says no and then i turn and out of the corner of my eye, I see a box marked "TOYBIZ LOTR: ROTK 6'' FIGURES ASST 3" and i'm like, "Yeah, any luck on opening that?" and she informs me that i can't do crap until she stocks them. Yipee.

So, i browse around the action figure aisle, aimlessly (i was looking at DBG and Yu-Gi-Oh figures, my lord, the horror) and FINALLY she gets to the case and I rummage through it. I scored:

Eowyn (yay!)

No Bilbo, but i got him pre-ordered anyway. I'm going to cancel the Treebeard, Gollum and Smeagol, but keep Eowyn in case somebody needs her (NOT taking dibs yet, kids, let me actually get the 2nd one :D ). Anyway, keep eyes on wally worlds kids and have patience, cause i was damn near about to leave after seeing her stock pure crap for 40 min before walking over to the 2nd skid and the ROTK figures. You would think that she could've just popped it open!!! heheehheheehe she apologized when she did open it, saying that if she had to open one, she had to open all. she then said it was purely because of the hot wheels guys and how nuts they are. I said it was no problem (cause i don't have crap to do today, yet) and i was happy i was still buying them. Oh yeah!! cheers! :D

08-04-2003, 11:46 AM
Yo Brainiak, don't give up hope man! Reports have been coming in that the TWF has been showing up 1 per case now (along w/4 Smeagols). Of course, scalpers are still going to gobble them up (since it's already been labeled a "valuable" figure..). But if this is true, it does improve your chances at least a little bit. :)

Nice score JMG! I like the new packaging picture on the ROTK Gollum figure. Much better than the TTT version IMO.

08-04-2003, 06:06 PM
i hope so jpak!! but i doubt it..ive been looking for forever!!

PLEASE PLEASE ANYONE HERE..IF YOU CAN FIND ONE OF THESE (twilight frodo) IN A DECENT PACKAGE (MINT) IF POSSIBLE CAN PLEASE LOOK OUT FOR ONE OF THESE FOR ME AND PICK IT UP FOR ME!! Id be greatly in debt w/ you!! Plus i have lots to trade , some exc..etc etc!

neways great finds!! i saw some ROTK stuff also..still looking for sharku!!

DragonBallZ figures used to be really horrible but have improved much lately. Yu gi oh toys arent too good either. Ive tried to watch that show and the rules always seem funny to me.

Nice haul JMG, im still waiting for something other than Eomer, Frodo, and Sam to pop up. Sharkus a definite must have. Eowyn im confident i will find her. Eight inch Treebeard? Doesnt sound cool, and probably doesnt look it either. Smeagol/Gollum i will get but if they are bendies i wont. TWF would be nice to have but my collection will still be nice without it.

So anybody know who the exclusive character is for that one "Heroes of Rohan" or whatever it was called multipack?

08-05-2003, 11:33 AM
I've never heard of a "Heros of Rohan" multipack.

The only multipacks I know of is "Helm's Deep" 5-Pack (out NOW!) and "A Hobbits Tale" 5-Pack w/ Frodo, Sam, Merry, Pippin, and Bilbo from Return of the King.

08-05-2003, 11:43 AM
Jayspawn, there are many repacks for ROTK and the heroes of Rohan is no exeption. It's a four pack and one figure will be exclusive and new. On the prototype pic they showed Gondorian ranger, Rohirrim soldier, Theoden in armour and Eomer TTT. These could be some of the figures but then again the whole lot could be mixed TTT and ROTK. Who knows?
Other packs are:

The white wizards-Saruman with eye of sauron palantir and plinth and Gandalf the white (soft goods from horse set) (shown with one ring and chain pack in)

Lords of darkness-Sauron and Saruman TTT with eye of Sauron palantir

Quest for Mordor-Frodow/ light up sting, Mordor Sam, Gollum w/ rock base(one exclusive figure) (shown with one ring and chain pack in)

Freedom to Edoras-Aragorn (strider without cloak), Legolas Helms deep, Gimli FOTR

Figures listed are what was shown in prototype packaging and not necessarily the final line up.

08-05-2003, 02:34 PM
Yeah! We need more Sarumans! Why? Because Christopher Lee RULES!

Anyways, My Target just put out the AOME Urk-Hai 4-Pack w/ Ram. It was $14.99. A little steep a price if you ask me.

ALSO my KB Toys put out most of the Fellowship like Gandalf, Strider, Witchking, Orc Overseerer.

08-06-2003, 12:19 AM
Scored Frodo and Sa-...no, wait, that's not another hobbit, it's eomer!! :D I think he must've got part of his ankles cut off cause i TOTALLY agree with the criticism that he's dropped some in his height. I think Eowyn is towering over him. Poor fella. :crazed:

However, it seems all my criticism about how i probably wouldn't find any ROTK stuff before returning to school has been countered w/ Toybiz putting stuff in my area, so i'm going to try this:

Man, i can't find ANY TWILIGHT FRODO'S!!! Where are they?!?! Need Twilight Frodo's!!!

(mike crosses fingers) :p

I went to a Target today planning to pick up two TTT Archer/Beserker packs because they were only $5.84 (or something close to that) and in their place today was a ton of AOME toys. They looked pretty cool but fortunately i didnt have to debate whether to get them or not because i found some new Star Wars toys. But its going to be hard holding off on them.

08-06-2003, 01:48 PM
That is a great price for those 2-packs. I'll have to check my Target again.

kool-aid killer is right. It's hard for me too holding off on getting those AOME toys. They look sooo cool! I'm definatly getting Saruman's Chambers when that comes out. But I'm afraid that will break the dam and then I'll have to get all of them. :(

08-06-2003, 02:29 PM
I'm in the same boat..... really trying hard to resist the AOME line.

I was originally thinking about just getting 9 ringwraiths, but like Jayspawn said: That'll probably break the dam, and I'll end up trying to get the whole line...... :stupid:

08-06-2003, 03:10 PM
I have picked up several of the AOME line.

I have to say that overall I am very pleased. They are a scale that really brings back the days of green army men and Britains cowboys, knights and martians.

The one rub is the articulation - or lack thereof. I was hoping for a little bit, maybe in the heads and arms, but for the most part it isn't there.

I am looking forward to grabbing one of the playsets. I would love to hear what some others think about them. I'm not sure I'm 100% sold on these first waves - but Helms Deep will be hard to resist...

I piocked up the Merry and Pippin 2-packs at Target tonight for $5.84 each. I knew they would go down that low. Definatly worth the buy. No chamce of getting Archer/Bezerker packs in my area though. Looong gone.

08-06-2003, 09:02 PM
Apparently the other two horse and rider sets: Aragorn w/ Brego and Legolas w/ Arod have been released and are showing up at Meijers stores. I'm assuming that these are the TB 6 inch scale versions and not the AOME ones. The report wasn't that clear. But if it is the 6 inch scale ones then that's more goodness leaking out. YAY!! :D

I would prefer a generic Rohan soldier on a horse. I see that Toybiz is going to reissue the Wringwraith with Steed again. Merry and Pippens two packs are long overdue for a drastic markdown. Sadly i will still probably see them for a long time around here. I may pick up one with Ugluk and try to create a new Uruk Hai.

08-07-2003, 04:51 PM
Ahhhh...... ......I'm weak....... I caved in and bought some AOME today. Got the Ringwraith on horse, and the Ringwraith 3-pack.

They do look very nice. I'm gonna try to stop after I get the 9 Ringwraiths, and maybe a fell beast (yeah right... ;) ).

Amazon kicked all my pre-orders to September, October and November!!! So much for delivery from aug 15th-21st!!! bleh!!!! I'm curious to see how much i find around here and cancel from them before i head back to school in the beginning of september. Should be interesting. I just found the fuel to get out hunting. :D

08-08-2003, 10:42 AM
Huh... Amazon has my pre order scheduled for Nov 13 - 17th. I ordered 6 ROTK figures from them. It's cool though. If I find any before then, individual igures can be cancelled from the order :D

08-08-2003, 12:32 PM
Oohhh jpak001! You gave into the temptation! Haha! I must admit that everytime I go to the store (like everyday) that I too am tempted to get several of those AOME figures. The urge is....strong! Must hold......out!

08-08-2003, 03:56 PM
Good luck on holding out Jayspawn.... As you can see, I folded like a cheap lawn chair....

Target clearance update:
One of my local Targets has marked the two packs down to a low $2.97! Imagine my shock to see a elven archer/berserker uruk set sitting there! Excellent, add two more to the ranks! I also got the hobbit & Uruk/orc packs for customizing fodder. At $1.50 per figure, how could you resist!

08-09-2003, 02:54 AM
Here's some more AOME that I don't think I'll be able to resist....

08-09-2003, 10:25 AM
Hey I didn't know about that Felowship 9 pack, COOL! I'll definatly be getting that for sure!

I'm hearing that AOME has been showing up at TRU stores (definatly not mine) and that the playsets are among them. I know I won't be able to resist Saruman's Chambers. "It's Saruman!!!" - Gandalf

OH, my Target got in just 1, 12" Aragorn in ROTK packaging.

My local Targets in Maryland don't have a clue when asked about them carrying LOTR, either from Toy Biz or PlayAlong. I have yet to see any Series 1 ROTK anywhere??!!!?

08-10-2003, 12:31 PM
Jon- Don't get too discourged yet. Most Targets are still in the process of resetting their toy department and won't be stocking new LOTR stuff until it's over. I know my local target stores have only been stocking cases sporadically until after their resetting is over. Just keep your eyes peeled! :D

Well...that was why I dropped the message. They are done with resets...I have seen no tags or sections marked for LOTR...and dept heads are telling me they're not carrying any. Is it just that they don't know??

08-11-2003, 10:13 AM
Thats what I think jonthejedi. One day they're going to get them all in and stock em! It's going to be a huge movie in just a few months, trust me Target WILL be carrying them.

Department heads in stores like Target don't really know that much about toys they're getting anyways. There are few who do and are on the ball. They see a LOTR toy is just the same as any Star Wars, Barbie, or board game. It's just product to them.

08-11-2003, 10:15 AM
Anyways, KBkids.com has most of the Armies of Middle Earth IN STOCK for good prices if you don't want to wait.

08-11-2003, 09:53 PM
Yeah man, most store clerks really don't give a ****e about any of this stuff, or us collectors. They also get us confused with scalpers, IE: "A collector bought all of those this morning".

Here's a fine example:

I was at Spencer gifts on Saturday getting some T3 figs. A clerk went up to the guy that was ringing me up and says "oh, we got these? I just told someone that we didn't have 'em, Ha Ha!! Oh well!". Then I ask the clerk that was helping me if the 18" Jason figure has showed up there yet, they both turn and look at me with disgust and he says "I haven't seen those in months, we probably won't get any more in dude". I say "but that's a brand new item, it wasn't out ANYWHERE months ago". Then I get the famous "blank stare/no answer".

I've been through this scenario many more times than I can remember. Trust me jonthejedi, most of them don't care and would tell you almost anything to get you out of thier face. I wouldn't put any stock into that clerks statement that they won't be carrying LOTR. Like Jayspawn said, it's gonna be a HUGE movie license this holiday season. Target will have 'em.

Oh yeah, On a LOTR note: I got another AMOE...... the "attack at Weathertop" set (really only bought it for the 'wraith). That's 4 'wraiths, 5 more to go! :D :D :D

08-11-2003, 10:55 PM
Hey, i scored an extra eowyn if anybody wants it. I'd prefer to trade it for the Jedi Knight pack though. If anybody can help me out, drop me a line. If i can't get any trade action, i'll post it up for sale.

Nothing else new in the Northern dayton area. Should be getting new stuff at targets this week, so i was told by a very nice lady in beavercreek. She actually KNEW what i was talking about. I nearly asked her to marry me on the spot :crazed: k, need food. cheers!!

08-12-2003, 08:19 AM
I'll keep the faith, guys, concerning LOTR & AOME showing up here soon in the eastern neck of Middle Earth. Ab so rightly about these store personnel not knowing, or really giving a darn. They make 7.00 an hr. putting out Plan-O-Gram merch...and that's all they do. They really have no customer service standard. Ironically...I'm finding most new toys I collect at Target.

08-14-2003, 02:10 AM
AAAHHHH!!! I caved!!!! I bought AOME Armies of Middle Earth Gandalf w/ Shadowfax. I couldn't help it. See I'm actually reading The Two Towers (I'm actually not a book reading type) and I gave in!

I did a little paint job on Gandalf's hair because it wasn't white enough. It looks a lot better now.

I bigtime caved too when I walked into Columbia, MD Target today...new 12" LOTR, Armies of Middle Earth, etc. Finally!!! I'm coincidentally reading Two Towers also. I strugged thru Fellowship...this is a quicker read! I kinda approve the editorial changes Peter Jackson made, He could not have filmed the book the way it was written.

He heh.... you gave in too huh? Guess it was only a matter of time! ;)

I've wanted to get that Gandalf too, but that would go against my plan to only get 9 ringwraiths (yeah right....). Pretty nice little figs when you bust 'em open eh?

Happy to see you finally found some stuff too jonthejedi. Just out of curiosity, was that the same Target where the stock guy said they wouldn't be carying LOTR stuff?

08-14-2003, 11:36 PM
Found the Aragorn and Samwise tonight, no Ewoyn though. I think Targets and Meijer stores are getting in the Samwise, Eomer Etc wave and wally worlds are doing the Eowyn wave, cause i've only picked up Eowyns at wal-marts. I'll keep huntin' though! :D

08-15-2003, 12:21 AM
It's the same out here in L.A. JMG: Eomer wave @ Target, Eowyn wave @Wal-Mart. Haven't found any ROTK stuff anywhere else.

Seems like Samwise is the 1st to go from the Eomer wave, wonder if it's because he has Sting? Eomer & Aragorn seem to be pegwarmers already. If Eomer was the correct height, I bet he would be selling better though.....

Nothing new over here but i was wondering if those of you who have some AOME are overall pleased with them or have some concerns regarding the line? I have so far avoided buying any but it gets harder when you havent found any new LOTR or Star Wars figures and AOME sits on its shelf calling you.

As for asking employees if they carry something or when they will stock them i have given up on that. Usually they dont really know, and dont really care that much if at all. In all my years collecting, i have only had one actually pull out some figures from the back that he was trying to keep away from scalpers.

08-16-2003, 02:57 PM
Hey KAK,
I was pleasantly suprised with few that I bought and opened. They look great, and have very nice paint application for figures that small.

The Wraiths basically have no articulation. They're pretty much little statues. But as long as we get 9 different sculpts I'll be happy :)
The Frodo & Sam are articulated at the neck, shoulders, and waist. The Twilight wraith is articulated at the arms & waist. So it seems articulation varies a lot between different figures.

Also, the little "dirt" stands are completely removeable on the single figures, but not the horses.

Overall I'd say that they're very nice little display pieces, perfect for building dioramas (what they were meant for). Not a bad deal for the price ($5.99 for horse & riders, $8.99 for the 3 packs).

08-16-2003, 05:24 PM
i dunno!! i like um and i have a few but i dont feel likes it worth it!!

5.99 for horse/rider for like a $1 mroe you can get a tb fig!! and for 8.99 you can get a 3pk but for $2 more you can get a tb twin pack!! i dunno..

im goin get sauron ,isulduir, and elendil forsure though!! cant wait til that 3pk comes out!

08-16-2003, 11:04 PM
After taking a cue from fellow SSG Ohio Forumite, Star Matt, i called around random meijer stores last night and scored the Warg w/ rider. Then on my home from work tonight, stopped in at my local meijer and booya, legolas and Aragorn w/ Horses!!! These bad boys, well, in Legolases case, i'll say, "bad boy who looks very much like a girl", are very awesome. Aragorn has that "aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh!" screaming into battle expression and his horse is nicely done too.

Pick these up kids, they rule!!! :D

08-16-2003, 11:26 PM
I've only seen the rereleased Wraith w/ Horse in the ROTK box.

And speaking of Wraith w/ horse. I picked up the AOME Wraith w/ horse at Target the other day. The playsets are hitting stores in Canada so hopefully it won't be long till they land here. The 2nd wave of AOME figure sets and riders should be hitting soon as well.

08-19-2003, 06:09 PM
AOME Single Packs found in Canada today, at WalMart. Didn't know they were even making them! There were 10 or 11 pictured on the back, each of the figures from the first 4 3 packs (Rohan Soldiers, Moria Orcs, Ringwraiths, and Weathertop Attack) minus one of the Moria Orcs (not sure why they would do that). I also wasn't able to determine if the Ringwraiths were all there or if one was shortpacked. There were quite a few people looking at them.

At 4.92 per pack, we'd be paying almost 17 for each 3 pack, which means the three packs are no real savings. I guess the single packs are good if you lose/break one of your other figures or if you just want multiples of some but not all the figures in one pack (eg Rohan Soldier).

08-19-2003, 09:14 PM
I spotted the Helms Deep, Isengard Chambers and Bridge of Khazaa Dum playsets today at my local meijer. Nice sets....but pretty pricey. I think 45 for helms deep...i don't do these AOME, but they look very well done. :D

08-20-2003, 01:16 AM
THats not too bad, the retail of AOME Helm's Deep is supposed to be $50. It's supposed to be a pretty impressive set. SO far I only have GTW and Wraith on horses. I have Saruman's Chambers coming to me in the mail.

08-21-2003, 01:06 AM
I did a little custom work on my few AOME figures. On Gandalf w/ Shadowfax, I repainted Gandalf's hair and beard white. It looks much better. And on the Raith w/ Horse I touched up the scuffs and wound marks on the horse. It looks a little more complete now.

08-21-2003, 02:56 AM
Found Smeagol and 7" Treebeard in ROTK packaging today at my comic store, I didn't buy either. Im reconsidering buying the Treebeard figure to use as an Ent Warrior, a couple of those flanking your big Treebeard might look cool in a diorama, doing battle with Sauron and some Orcs....

Money's always a consideration though, and Jodi is not as forgiving as I am... :D

08-21-2003, 02:27 PM
Strange that, i'm considering buying a second deluxe treebeard to customise into Quickbeam. I just don't like the idea of only having one Ent. I figure if I just smooth off the bark a bit i can make it look like a different type of tree. Leave off the top branch and add some more leaves and twigs at the top with paper wrapped wire and PVA glue coated fabric for leaves. Just a few simple tweaks and a whole new Ent. Although it's the expense right now that's stopping me. The small version doesn't interest me at all even as a sort of midget Ent. I dunno, i have so much on order right now, maybe I'll wait for the treebeards clogging the shelves in TRU to go on clearance.

08-21-2003, 04:08 PM
Alright, this topps em all! I just scored Super Posable Gollum and Pelennor Fields Aragorn at Target today! The Bendy Gollum SUCKS compared to this one, this one is definatly worth the buy. Aragorrn is wearing the Gondorian armor and is super posable as well. He holds the sword with BOTH hands, has the elvyn dagger on his back. His hais is made from soft rubber so his head moves all directions. He has several layers on his outfot as well. The detail is incredible!

08-21-2003, 05:08 PM
How's the face sculpt? Sounds like I'll finally be happy with an Aragorn figure......

08-21-2003, 07:40 PM
Never mind Aragorn, how's the Gollum? how does the rockface thing work, have they actually left all the points of articulation in or skimped? What's the paint job like does his face look stupid does he look like he'll break easily..... *breathes* forgive me. SPG is one of the figures I'm most looking forward to. *shrugs sheepishly* :D

08-21-2003, 11:05 PM
Here's the lowdown on Gollum. The sculpting is excellent. He's actually sculpted with a happy face though interchangable heads would have topped everything. Both arms have 6 points articulation including shoulder, bicep, elbow, forearm, wrist and fingers. Both legs have 6 points each as well. The legs and shoulders have ball joints. Now remembering that Gollum is very skinney and "gangley" as Faramir put it, the figure appears to be somewhat delicate, but the plastic used is very firm. You can pose him crouching, standing, covering his ears, pretty much whatever you want him to do.

The climbing action is a cheap thrill. Yes it works, several stone pieces of a stone wall are included. You put Gollum's hands in 2 little holds and sort of shift him up or down.

The only reason to get this figure is FOR the Gollum figure. It totally blows Bendy Gollum away. I don't know what posessed ToyBiz to even make Gollum bendy in the first place.

08-22-2003, 09:34 AM
Cool! thanks for that. *moves Gollum back to top of want list* One more question, The bendy one had the face as a seperate piece glued onto the head which was part of the one piece body. Is the head on crawling Gollum a one piece mold or two halves stuck together? I'm just wondering if it might be possible to switch the faces over, put the snarling face on the crawling G and the smiley face on the bendy one. Why would I want to do that? because crawling G nearly aleways looks fierce and having a crawling snarly G coming down the wall at the hobbits would look cool as ******! :)

08-22-2003, 10:53 AM
Its possible, SP Gollum's head is movable as well (moves side to side) a peg attachment, you could try removing it.

08-22-2003, 06:47 PM

Jayspawn...is this Gollum a 12" scale figure you're talking about...or another variation on the bendy-size Smeagol & Gollum in the red & blue pkgs. Just curious?

08-22-2003, 08:29 PM
He's talking about 6" scale super poseable or 'crawling' Gollum. The 11" deluxe Gollum will come with less articulation and interchangeable faces.

08-22-2003, 09:00 PM
The wall crawling Gollum sounds awesome, and so does the Aragorn! thanks for the reviews. I cant wait till my pre-order comes in! :)

I Just found the 8" Treebeard today. It does seem to me like this one was really made for the AOME line. Especially seeing him next to a bunch of AOME figures & Playsets... I'm sure the upcoming Merry & Pippin AOME figures will go nice with him.

And I fought back the urge at the Balrog playsets today :dead: It was tempting though, that and a few Moria Orc 3 packs....

08-23-2003, 03:00 PM
Yeeaaahhh! My AOME Saruman's Chambers arrived in the mail today from KBkids.com! It's an excellent set! Basic but effective! The Saruman, Gandalf and Grima figures are nifty. Grima and Saruman are in pretty neutral poses but Gandalf is stuck in an action pose. I'd say that $30 is a little high in price, but since I'm a big Christopher Lee fan I don't sweat it much. :D

I got Eowyn, Orc-Sam, Orc-Frodo, and Eomer at TRU. Saw the rest, but they weren't that different or impressive...Can't wait for that Super-Poseable Pelennor Fields Aragorn and Armored Eowyn, though. :D As for the crawling Gollum...come on, we've got enough of him. Well in my opinion at least.

I picked up the super poseable Gollum yesterday. I didnt see any other LOTR figures though. He looks much better than bendy Gollum/Smeagol so im glad i held off on them. I wouldnt be suprised if he is reissued with a angry head later on.

08-24-2003, 06:55 PM
Yesterday I found series 2 and grabbed Aragorn & Eowyn in Armor - no Gandalfs left, but there were 4 Super Poseable Gollums. It looks like everyone’s divided on this one. I passed on him because (1) I have both bendies already, (2) he’s got these bug-eyes that make his face look rather silly - IMO. And I do agree that the climbing feature is no more than a gimmick, so that was a turnoff too. I guess you should just have a look for yourselves and then decide. I was actually excited at first to see him, but upon closer inspection, I decided to pass.

Aragorn & Eowyn on the other hand just plain rock!!! These are definitely a must!!!

08-24-2003, 08:55 PM
Hell yeah! Awesome find, I'm glad you found those. I just can't describe how much I want Aragorn and Armored Eowyn, they look bloody awesome. As I said before, Toybiz is doing an unbelievable job with this RotK line. Even the gimmicks that they give some figures usually don't hurt much... I'm still in awe of King Eomer and Non-Armored Eowyn, and the Orc-Hobbits, in my opinion, far exceed ANYTHING that Hasbro has released to date. No gimmicks, tons of detail, accessories, and articulation, what else could you ask for? Good luck everyone! :)

08-25-2003, 01:18 AM
I was out of town for the weekend, but did some really random hunting and found squat. Glad to hear people are actually finding stuff.

I have an extra Eowyn if anybody wants her. I head back to school the 6th of september, so if nobody wants her by then, she's headin' back to wally world! Drop me a PM if interested! :D

08-26-2003, 12:14 AM
We had it coming.

LOTR Barbie Aragorn and Arwen!!!

Here is a pic for giggles. I might get a set...for me to poop on!!!

thanks to GD for the pic.

08-26-2003, 01:42 AM
Oh God. Yeah we had it coming alright.

08-26-2003, 07:57 AM
Scored armor Eowyn & Pell. Fields Aragorn, as well as wall-climbin' Gollum at Columbia, MD Target. This is a Greatland Target, the normal one nearer to me doesn't have LOTR at all. Does this shipment actuall have Gandalf, or is he coming later? There were none in sight.

08-26-2003, 04:25 PM
Jedi Jon- Yeah, Gandalf is in this assortment, he just hasn't been spotted yet. I need to hit some local Targets ASAP! :D

Please tell me that Barbie set is a joke. If not, how can they justify making that but not other LOTR figures we want? Nothing new over here. Same pegs being warmed by the usual suspects. JMG, pm me with what you seek or how much for the Eowyn whenever you get a chance. From what i can tell now, only one Target in my area is carrying ROTK figures. Hope im proved wrong though. Glad to see other people finding new figures.

08-26-2003, 10:14 PM
The barbie set looks absolutely hideous though. Just like all 12 inch dolls, out of proportion and nothing like the actors who played the character or the costumes from the movie etc. Variation on a theme is all they are, voodoo dollies. Mutant 'things'.... bad karma.

Anyone counted Gollum's POA yet? There's a report at thegd.com that series one hit the Phillipines with the Uruk Crossbowman instead of Aragorn helms deep. So he has been released after all. Could just be early cases that didn't have the Uruk-hai. He's 2 per case. Wonder which mix the UK will get.

08-27-2003, 09:30 PM
Got my Super-Poseable Gollum yesterday.
Jargo, he has a ball-jointed head, shoulder and hips, cut-joint biceps, forearms, thighs and waist, bending (as opposed to bendy) elbows, wrists, fingers, knees and toes, as well as multi-jointed ankles that twist side to side as well as pivoting up and down. Really freakin' cool! Except, some of the joints on mine have pretty wide gaps in them. Still cool all the same.

I saw Pelennor Fields Aragorn at the same store, but had to pass due to a shortage of cash. I was a bit disappointed that his likeness has seemed to have gotten even farther away from Viggo's since the Helm's Deep Aragorn. :( Still a cool looking figure due to that awesome costume design.

I actually thought the Barbie set was pretty cool as those things go. My girlfriend really seems to dig the love story between Aragorn and Arwen, so I knew she'd probably think it was cool. She's pretty sure she wants to buy one, even though she wishes that had gone with a Liv Tyler and Viggo Mortensen likeness rather than the generic Barbie and Ken they use.

08-27-2003, 09:50 PM
Cool. Man, can't beleive we still have two weeks to wait before this stuff hits retail here. You guys have series 1,2 and 3 already which is I guess the reason I've been driven to the Muppets. Now I have three full time collections going what with star wars too. I'm going to have to get very selective about what I buy from each line. Be more subjective and circumspect. WAAAAAAAAH! Me want it allllll!!!!!! :(

I bought a Hobbit and Ugluk two pack at Shopko for $2.99 a couple of days ago. I dont care about the Hobbit so i may just trash him but its Ugluk who i really wanted. I want to customize him to look like another Uruk Hai from the Amon Hen battle. Unfortunately im at a loss as to how to go about it. Should i try to make a mask out of cloth or is there some other way to make him look different? Anybody done any customizing on one before? Any tips? Thanks.

08-30-2003, 04:22 PM
What you need to do is go over to www.thegd.com (http://www.thegd.com) and poke around in the customising section where there are lovely inspiring pics of many different Uruk-Hai customised figures. Some good tips there about making helmets and armour too.

09-01-2003, 11:28 AM

I looked around the customizing section and was very amazed at what some people had done. I have an idea of what im going to do now.

LIMP, its almost the same situation over here. All i see are Eomer, and orc armor Sam and Frodo. I did come across the Treedbeard and Gollum once but nothing after that.

09-02-2003, 09:05 AM
Bumped into the new ROTK treebeard - 6".

Question is - will this be the right scale for the AOME? It looked to be just about right - but I am seeking the experts thoughts.

Thank in advance...

09-02-2003, 09:22 AM
Ace- yeah, from what pics i've seen of the scale comparison, he fits perfectly w/ the AOME. If you head to www.thegd.com they have pictures of him carrying i think like AOME Merry and Pip. :D

09-02-2003, 10:06 AM
He's the right scale alright. I was against the small figure of treebeard at first- but now I have one for AOME Merry and Pippin when they come out. I hope ToyBiz makes a few more Ents in the smaller action figure size.

09-02-2003, 08:48 PM
Yep! He looks perfect with the AOME figures. I have mine standing with my AOME figures, holding Frodo & Sam (since Merry & Pippin aren't out yet).

I would go as far as saying that it looks much more acurately scaled w/AOME than the 14" Treebeard does with the 6" figures.

If you collect AOME, I would definitely suggest getting him to go with them. :)

Hang in there guys, there is tons of ROTK in my area. In fact, the only item I have yet to see is Eowyn, although I'm sure I'm just missing her in the stores when I get there. Both series one and two seem quite plentiful here.
Also, while I have yet to see it on the shelves, I've noticed TRU's shelf tags for the AOME Helm's Deep playset have it priced at $29.99, much cheaper than the fifty dollar price tag I had heard rumored.

By the way, Jargo - you wouldn't happen to have a link to the list of LOTR stuff that is being rereleased, would you? Even if you could simply post the list here, I would greatly appreciate it!

09-02-2003, 09:40 PM
Hope this helps. I believe this is from the MARZ distribution website so this contains new and repack listings. And next year the line changes it's name to 'Trilogy' enabling them to just shove out random waves and mixes much like Kenner's old way of putting out old with new star wars figures so people have a better chance of finding things they may have missed. I note there isn't a listing for a repack of the elven archer annoyingly but this may change. Distributor listings are one thing but TB vascillate wildly on what's going to be in a case so really this isn't hard and fast just tentative.

Ace- yeah, from what pics i've seen of the scale comparison, he fits perfectly w/ the AOME. If you head to www.thegd.com they have pictures of him carrying i think like AOME Merry and Pip. :D

Thanks for the feedback from all of you. Now I wish I had picked him up when I saw him.

Couldn't find the picture you were refering to - but I'll trust everyone nonetheless!

Finally found a new LOTR figure, Eowyn in Rohan armor. I seen the PF Aragorn also but something just didnt look right about him so i skipped. Check those paint applications fellow forum members. The other Eowyn there had a stray mark (very noticable) above her eyebrow.

09-05-2003, 01:01 PM
Good pick up, Kool-Aid!!

I just got a notice from amazon that my order for the Uruk Hai w/ crossbow has been cancelled, cause it won't be released?!!?? WTH is this crap?!!?!?

I'm doing some hunting today, it being my last day before going back to school. Hopefully, i'll find some ROTK stuff so i can keep cancelling my pre-orders. :D

09-05-2003, 09:46 PM
Heh, I got that same notice today JMG. Amazon is on crack.... I just got done reading an article at the green dragon stating that they're shipping two per case now (replacing re-pack Aragorn).

They've got lot's of pretty pictures of him (in the package and out). So someone has found him. Don't know what the hell Amazon is talking about......

09-05-2003, 09:50 PM
Jpak- I e-mailed amazon and asked WTH was going on cos the figure is out now, so i just wanna know if they don't have enough or if they underordered or took too many orders or something. This worries me, cos if i start gettin' more notices like this, i'm going to go Hulk on them. :D

09-06-2003, 07:27 PM
Hey I was at Wal-Mart today and noticed the wave of TTT and ROTK Gollums (all bendys, still trying to find the wall climber :(), what is with that Smeagol version of Bendy Gollum? That was just kinda screwed up, took a bit to notice the difference.

Saw one of those Treebeard figures, I'll have to pick that up, he was frickin heavy! :D

09-07-2003, 02:41 AM
Jpak- Hey, i got an e-mail back from TRU customer service, and they just said, "yeah, you should've gotten an email saying it's not available." HOwever, as the GD pointed out, it's still available in the bundle pack. That is BS in my opinion. If i wasn't at school and this wasn't one of the easiest ways to get the ROTK figures without having to hunt, i'd tell TRU to....well, you get me. :D

So, if anybody could pick up an extra Uruk-Hai w/ Crossbow, i'd really appreciate it.

Also, www.thegd.com has pics of the Harad Archer and Pip in Armor. Nice! :D

09-07-2003, 02:59 AM
That is total BS.... You have to buy the bundle to get him. Oh well, my thoughts were that all these figs would be readily available at retail at some point anyway. I pre-ordered the figs with plans of cancelling any that I actually find in the stores (like you did ;) ).

Those pics at theGD look awesome!!! I wonder if Amazon will cancel the Harad Archer too? Only thing that looks funny to me is Pip's naked feet with all that armor. Still a great figure though, I will definitely be getting one!

Oh yeah, a heads up:
They have the variant Gandalf the White at BigBadToyStore right now for $9.99. I'm ordering one of those suckers right now!

09-07-2003, 02:07 PM
That Gandalf looks good, but i like my Gandalf the Beige. hehehehehe

Amazon has a picture up of the new Aragorn. Granted, click here and there is prolly a spoiler for few (the name of the figure). But, enjoy!

KB toys has Eowyn for those of you who need her. Check out the link below to order:

Notice: JMG does not take any responsibility for any problems you may or may not have w/ KB toys.com. thank you :D

Also, while I have yet to see it on the shelves, I've noticed TRU's shelf tags for the AOME Helm's Deep playset have it priced at $29.99, much cheaper than the fifty dollar price tag I had heard rumored.

Sadly, it looks as though that $29.99 shelf tag saw for Helm's Deep was a mistake, and has since been corrected at all of my nearby TRU stores.

Also, I saw the Pelennor Fields Aragorn w/Brego set at TRU today. Pretty cool lookin' except for the face on Aragorn, which looks even less Viggo-ish than the regular carded PF Aragorn. Why can't they do that man right? There seems to be plenty of good sculptors at Toybiz lately, and the dude already has a pretty chiseled looking face in real life! Yet each new Aragorn figure since the excellent Helm's Deep version has looked progressively less like the brotha.

09-10-2003, 12:19 AM
Actually, the Helm's Deep Aragorn looks just like Viggo.

Saw the AOME Helm's Deep playset at TRU today. I thought they would have included more than just 3 figures. Seems a little cheap. Oh well, I guess we have the packs. Its cool looking- just too small and inacurate.

So what do those of you who collect the AOME line think so far? It seems like on LOTRG.com that many people were thrilled about it at first but when they actually seen them or bought them they started to voice complaints. I have now warmed up to my homeless looking Aragorn with bow feature. Ugly figures need love too. Whenever i look at him i just try to picture him worried about the hobbits and that is why he looks like that.

09-10-2003, 01:23 PM
I like AOME so far. I only have 3 items myself (Saruman's Chambers, Gandalf & Shadowfax, and Wraith & Horse) but its a pretty good line. I stilll have to get Frodo, Sam and Wraith and the Wraith set. A lot of the sets I want are in Series 2. Can't wait for Haldir!

09-11-2003, 12:24 PM
So far I am very pleased with my AOME. As I open, I have found these to be better toys that the 6" line. With loose joints (including loose articulated ankles) the 6" fellas seem to have their own struggles just to stay standing (one too many at the Pony I guess).

I grew up on the old Britains knights, cowboys and spacemen - in addition to my prolific SW collection - so the scael really suits me. I also like the development of good environments. And Finally, the scale lends itself to better home construction of other environs.

There are a few minor issues - foot pegs, articulation (lack) and paint application. But all-in-all - two thumbs up.

09-11-2003, 07:13 PM

Clickity Click for all who need it!! (LIMP, lookin' in your direction, cos if memory serves, you need her, right?!? if not, oh well!!! Order her, those who need it!)

cheers! :D

Edit: in fact, they have the following newer figures for sale too, so hurry now!

Arwen and Asfaloth
6 " Eowyn
6" Galadriel
Deluxe Legolas and Arod
Deluxe Pellenor Aragorn and Brego
Prologue Elven Warrior
Warg and Beast
6" HD Legolas
12" Rotocast Legolas
12" Rotocast Aragorn

(saw this list on GD, go now!) :p

09-11-2003, 08:01 PM
Speaking of Arwen and Frodo, I found them both at Target this morning! In the FOTR packaging too, they were $16.99. They also had the Wraith w/ Horse as well.

Wal-Mart this morning had the Fellowship 9-pack in TTT packaging. Only $29.99! Great price, very cool looking. I passed because I have all the figures already. Impressive.

AND Media Play finally got in the AOME figures including all the figure and horse sets as well as both playsets and Helm's Deep. The playsets were only $24.99 cheapest I've seen them.

09-12-2003, 06:09 PM
Finally got Helm's Deep today, very pleasing. I'll now have to auction off a few extra figures I have on ebay, but it's worth the trouble to have Haldir.

With this set was the first (Canadian, anyway) wave of single carded figures in ROTK packaging. I picked up Eowyn, but passed on Gollum, Smeagol and the small Treebeard. They also had the large Treebeard in ROTK packaging. All of these figures had pics of the actors/actress on the front, they had none of the first US found wave with the pics of the toys themselves on the packages.

09-13-2003, 12:26 PM

Go on, get him now before they become hard to find, again!!! It's too tempting to buy like 8 and put them on ebay...they're still going for around 60 a pop! heheheheheehehe good luck!! :D

On a side note, i have 2 Prologue Bilbos, Uruk Hai w/ Crossbow, SP Gollum and SP Aragorn waitin' for me at various stores in Ohio. some friends/family are nailin them for me. I can't wait to see the Uruk Hai! HH! :D

09-13-2003, 05:29 PM
Holy crap!

Thanks for the link JMG! One of the few LOTR figures I actually wanted to keep sealed, now I can bust one open too! :)

09-14-2003, 12:24 PM
Im tempted on getting him but i wonder does this mean he will no longer be a chase figure? I probably should but for money reasons (im trying to knock off some things from my list of Star Wars wants) i dont really feel like doing it.

09-14-2003, 02:41 PM
Eh, i'd go for it Kool Aid. Lord only knows how long this figure will be easy to find. Most likely for a while, but i would suggest snagging this figure wherever ya see it! :D

On a side note, I was able to had my pops pick up ARagorn (SP), Gollum (SP) and Pro-Loge Bilbo, but the di-...mean guy who was supposed to be holding Uruk Hai and the other bilbo never put them on hold, thus they were sold. He's lucky that I didn't show up and find out they were gone, cos i would've gone hulk on his arse and it wouldn't have been pretty. I swear, that damned Uruk Hai w/ Crossbow is going to alude me!! argh!!! :D

EDIT: Twilight Frodo is sold out. Hope some SSGer's got him!

09-15-2003, 10:18 AM
I passed on Twilight Frodo, there's too many things to buy latley. Which sucks because I kind of wantede one to display. But oh well, he may yet show up again.

09-15-2003, 01:10 PM
Man, would I have loved to have a shot at that Twilight Frodo (yet another disadvantage of not having access to a computer every day! ). I'm not really dyin' to get my hands on yet another Frodo variant, but if they wanna make it easy for me I'd be all over it!
I also saw the Crossbow Uruk-Hai yesterday (had to pass again due to shortage of funds). He looks awesome, but one thing of note about him is that it appears his head at least has been reused (albeit slightly retooled) from the Uruk-Hai Berserker. Still gotta have 'im either way.

09-15-2003, 01:26 PM
Not a solitary ROTK sausage in the UK yet. You guys are panicking aboy not getting one figure but we haven't even had anything at all yet. I think one guy found one Warg in one store but that's it. Talk about panicking over not getting stuff, try the UK distribution on for size. Oh and now it appears all those exclusive multipacks for ROTK are being offloaded over here in Europe. The packaging says exclusive figure included and there isn't. Just the same old repacks. What a pile of junk! So those are going to keep later waves of figures from getting through to us. :( Damn Toybiz. All my enthusiasm for the figures has evaporated.

09-15-2003, 01:51 PM
Roojay! dude, pick up that uruk hai for me, bro!!! I'll trade you for my extra Prologue bilbo!!!! (once he comes in from amazon). eh eh eh!! eh, oh buddy ole' pal! :p

09-15-2003, 03:22 PM
If I had the cash to pick him up, and if I had the cash to pick up an extra one, and if said extra one was available at the store, you'd have yourself a deal! ;)

09-15-2003, 04:21 PM
Picked up AOME Helm's Deep set for $50 at local Toys R Us over the weekend. I HAD to open it...my son's already comandeered it. It's way cool, and the side walls almost suggest more modular attachment may be coming...anyone???

09-15-2003, 04:38 PM
I think I read somewhere the deeping wall will be released sometime. This will just click onto the side of the main set I guess. I dunno cuz i don't collect the little things.
If you check out lordoftheringsguide.com by following the link in the network tab at the top of the page you'll find your answer. Plenty of folk with more knowledge than me. LOTR dedicated and fanatic folks who are actually really nice to know. :)

09-16-2003, 12:15 PM

If only they'd get the Uruk Hai w/ crossbow, but by my calculations, they'll get it for order in oh...2005 ish? :D good luck! :D

09-16-2003, 12:48 PM
Damn.... trying so hard to get this ordered, but my wife is hovering dangerously close to my shoulder, watching my every move!!! Im being as stealthy as I can.... wish me luck as this is about the only figure from the past I really want right now...... hopefully he'll still be in stock when I can finally click the checkout button.

Do it, jj!!! I was lucky to get this guy at a local comic/collectibles shop last December for $13.

Guyute, how do you find out about all these figures for sale? Do you frequently check out KB's website or do you hear from another site and just post it here for those of us who dont visit that site?

09-16-2003, 09:46 PM
Kool Aid- I check The GD before i go to work in the morning as well as several times during the day. I'm hoping to one day see that KB Toys or some other site has that damned Uruk Hai w/ Crossbow. I post the links here cos i know a lot of folks have started collecting this line late and even if they didn't, there are a lot of figures people missed. :D I'm working on some good karama here. Help people get figures they need and one day, i'll magically get my Uruk Hai w/ Crossbow. Oh, that day shall be glorrrrrrrrrrrious. :)

09-16-2003, 11:25 PM
Their turn around as far as shipping goes must be really good - I've already received the Galadriel and Twilight Ringwraith that I order on Friday!
Galadriel is a really nice figure. She looks exactly like Cate Blanchett, and even has a pretty nice cloth cloak with a hood. She doesn't stand all that well with those dainty little feet of hers, but I'm more than willing to devise a way for her to stand.

09-17-2003, 03:19 AM
Bah! Green Hulk almost stopped by to smash the computer... Stupid KB's site won't accept my credit card info because it's billed to a Canadian address. I even put in my brother's mailing address in Ohio to avoid hassles, but it seems Im a second class citizen to them. I had Galadriel, Arwen and Asfoloth with injured Frodo and Elrond in my cart to no avail. I feel sick. I'll put out a general plea, if anyone else is ordering, could you please please please find it in your heart to pick up an extra Elrond? Ill gladly cover him and help generously with your total shipping costs.... PM me if you can help. Thanks in advance!!! :D

Good luck to all you others, this is a good chance to pick up a couple of tough figures.

09-17-2003, 02:10 PM
Heh...sorry I haven't posted here in a while guys.

I was going to let everyone know that Elrond was at KB, but I see you all know.

jjreason, I will check my fianances and see if I can order you one. Right now is a bad time of the month for me (mortage).

09-17-2003, 11:45 PM
Hey hey!

I got my "Gandalf the whiter" variant from BigBadToyStore. Looks nice, I'm much more pleased with this one than the 1st release. Also found a super poseable Gollum today - great figure!! Would be a perfect figure if he had double jointed elbows & knees though, but it's still leaps and bounds above the bendy. Not too sure why they put magnets in his feet though, the base is not magnetic or anything.

Anyone seen this upcoming ROTK AOME playset yet?

This might be the first AOME playset I buy. Just too damn cool! Would love to see that thing in ToyBiz scale too.

09-18-2003, 12:03 AM
WHOA!

09-18-2003, 12:13 AM
Welcome back, Quite-Long, nice to see you! :D I hear you about the mortgage, I can hear the footsteps of mine approaching too - I get mine taken out automatically the Monday after every payday, so I don't have time to spend every red cent and bounce the payment!

Today I found Prologue Bilbo up here, but passed. Just not enough going on there and there were other things calling attention to themselves at TRU today (Hoth 4 Pack).

Anybody else check out the picture of the Art Asylum 3" figures for LOTR? I was checking on that Elrond deal yesterday and nearly crapped when I saw prologue Isildur and Elendil with Sauron! How cool is that?????

EDITED: Had a look - I had initially thought these were from a new, medium sized line by Art Asylum, but am now of the belief they're from AOME. My error was based on my cardback from the AOME Dark Rider on Horse in front of me right now, which tells me that AOME is made by "Playalong", not "Art Asylum" as per their site. Insights?

09-18-2003, 09:44 AM
I have not heard anything on the LOTR MiniMates. I've seen all the AOME playsets so far. I wish the Helm's Deep playset came with more than just 3 figures. Seems kinda cheap.

09-18-2003, 12:33 PM

Indeed, K-B seems to be a bit confused as to who's making these. They are all (the Elendil, Isildur, Sauron pack included) made by Play Along rather than Art Asylum. I'm assuming Art Asylum may have had a hand in the design and sculpt of these figures - as they are known to do (they are a design studio first, toy company second) - and that may be where the confusion stems from.

P.s. Isn't this line just the GREATEST? :D
I'm loving it more and more with each new piece they reveal! That Fell Beast set just cinches it.
Wouldn't it be great to see something like this for Star Wars also? Just think of all the awesome playsets and dioramas would come out of that line!

09-18-2003, 04:51 PM
Holy Poop on a stick! Prologue Bilbo @KB toys!

cheers! :D

09-18-2003, 11:28 PM
Damn!! KB is just THE place for LOTR right now. Thanks for the heads up JMG!

I got my 2 Twilight Frodo's from KB today. The packing job was just awful, the two figures were just dropped in an oversixed box with just one of those "air pillows" in there. Very weak..... Miraculously one was still in mint condition, the other.... well it looks like that's my opener!

09-19-2003, 01:01 AM
I'm gonna have to check Prologue Bilbo out. I plan on ordering Elrond this weekend anyways.

See I like the 'air pillows' and Amazon uses. I've never had a problem with them.

09-19-2003, 01:17 AM
I was pretty excited to see him up here, but when I picked up the pkg to look at the figure, I didn't like the face and the package seemed very empty. Small figure, one small accessory - big friggin' package. I guess I kind of likes the One Ring detailed onto his palm, but not enough to out the cash. Im not a huge fan of the figures of the Hobbits for some reason.

09-19-2003, 01:38 AM
The air pillows don't bother me either when there's enough of 'em to secure the goods. These figures were just bouncing & sliding around in there. I guess it's just a pet peeve since my 1st few jobs were shipping positions and we never packed boxes like that.

It would'nt stop me from ordering from KB in the future though since I open pretty much everything anyways. I just think the TWF looks cool in the package with that eye of Sauron background and all.

09-19-2003, 01:44 AM
I guess its just the endless search for the cheapest and most effective packing. I've always had packages with the air pillows tightly secured- they were filled pretty good.

09-20-2003, 02:09 AM
Going on a tip from a fellow SSG in the area, i called around and put some toys on hold and my pops was good enough to get them on his way home from work. I got:

Gandalf the White
3 Uruk Hai w/ crossbows!!!!

Score!!! Now, i won't be home from school to check them out and friends in the area have said, "dibs!" but who knows. If i have any extra, i'll be sure to let y'all know. HH! :D

09-20-2003, 10:32 AM
What store did you get the Crossbow Urk-Hai figures Master Guyute?

09-20-2003, 11:29 AM
KB Toys and KB Toyworks in columbus. Keep checkin' dem KB Stores! They're stockin' that wave! :D

Yesterday my mother seen a Eowyn at a KB but didnt pick it up for me due to not knowing if i needed her. So today i rushed to the KB and luckily she was still there. No sign of Bilbo though. Im suprised the KB even had ROTK figures. It still had a decent amount of the older figures.

I finally got SPPF Aragorn today, and I also ordered Elrond from KBToys.com. Just thought I'd post that... :)

09-20-2003, 04:41 PM

My plea above asking someone to order me an Elrond if they had the means has been answered by Kool Aid. Thanks very much!

I have some loose figures Im getting rid of CHEAP to make shelf room for the newer ones. If you need/want any of these for customization or army building purposes, PM me and we'll line it up.

Theoden in Armor
Legolas Helm's Deep
Legolas in Rohan Armor (darker chest plate from HD 5 pack)
Legolas (from FOTR 9 pack)
Gimli (from FOTR 9 pack)
Strider (from FOTR 9 pack)
Aragorn (from HD 5 pack)

as well as one loose Dark Rider with standing horse from the AOME line.

All of them are complete and in perfect shape - displayed only. Let me know.
