Battle Droid

Haven't seen anyone mention this before.

Now if they'd only make a Battle Droid Builder Set. With Pilot, Security, Commander, and Infantry Droid. (all using the POTJ Security BD mold) Though I'd still like a carded Pilot Droid also, and a AOTC Commander Droid.

Cool, and they are cheaper than the Stormtrooper Troop Builder Set.

11-15-2002, 06:55 PM
Very sweet! Seems like we'll be stocked with an abundance of sand troopers.
Is this going to be sold at the Fan club like the Stromtrooper set?

Related to these, I still haven't picked up the Endor Troop builder set. What's the story on this, is it an official item? WIll it be available through the fan club. It seems now that it's available at etailers and ebay, but I'd rather buy it from an actual source.

I think the Endor set was official - I picked one up through a local specialist vendor about 6 weeks ago.
Spent about 40 mins customizing each of the 4 figures to give it an individual look, removing different patches of the dark green paint from each of them - all done while watching a documentary about the English Civil War of the 17th Century. Seemed apt somehow...

They ARE a bit over-rated if you ask me, though - 4 identical figures in camouflage gear, and all with the same face.....

11-15-2002, 08:35 PM
I got these too. They just fill up the background so it doesn't really matter if they all look similar. I did a similar thing with a couple of the original carded endor rebels, way back. And I'll be doing the same to my four pack and three of the saga endor rebels I got hold of. I'm leaving one of each as is though.

But this four pack is legitimate all right, it's just that some folk got it before others. :)

This sandtrooper set looks pretty spiffy. I bought six of the POTJ one and they all have that bloody awful brown kaka paint job. I hope this four pack comes without all that messiness. The red and white ones look pretty cool. Pity they all have the same arms though.

There's also the rumours of the clonetrooper 4-pack(red,green,blue,yellow), the scout trooper 4-pack and rebel alliance 4-pack (Hoth).

I'd like to see a Naboo royal guard 4-pack or a Naboo royal security 4-pack. Those were hard to get hold of. maybe they could redo the royal security in a set of two yellow uniform and two blue uniform, two from each movie they were in. The royal guards don't appear to change so just shove them out as is.

I love 4-packs of any army builder. It just makes me drool and I can't wait to see a 4-pack of biker scouts. Those are my absolute favorite next to the orginal stormtroopers!

WOW, these are 2 sweet. I plan on buying 5-6 sets plus 3-4 Stormtroopers sets.

I really thinks Hasbro is on to something with these sets. Now if we could get a few different ones:

Battle Droids (as listed above)
Gungans (with new weapons/accessories...like that cool drum)
Naboo Royal Guards (I also like EJ's 2-Yellow 2-Blue idea)
Imperial Officers (2-POTJ Black and 2-POTF2 Piett like re-makes or something along that line...I'm not too picky)
Snowtroopers (I still can't wait to see shots of the new Snowtrooper!!! But they should do 4-packs of these as well.)

I would like to take a moment to thank Hasbro for cranking out the 4-packs, so here goes:

Thank you for the Stormtrooper set

Thank you for the Endor Rebel set

Thank you for the Sandtrooper set

Thank you for the Scout Trooper set.

And while I'm at it, thanks for the Target Accessory sets!!! They are they best "Deluxe" figures you have cranked out. Please, keep 'em coming.:D

PS, I know that they plan on making a Gungan Accessory set. I still want a 4-pack.;)

Once again, Hasbro exceeds my expectations. This is a cool set, and I hope they continue to do things like this. Nice that they did both the black pad and the grey pad. Since there is a bit of confusion whether both those colors exist or not. Gonna throw the picture up here from EE. :)

Lovely, isn't it!? :D

11-16-2002, 01:59 AM
Looks like it won't be available from the fan club after all, and may be exclusive to EE and other online retailers. This was posted over in the Galactic Hunter forums. :(

OK, Mike [Sullenger] just cleared this up for me. Apparently this Sandtrooper 4-pack was originally intended to be a Fan Club exclusive, but with their recent ownership change and transition, Hasbro gave this exclusive to some of the online retailers instead. Phew!

I pre-ordered two sets of these from EE. AT $17.99 I couldn't help myself. NEVER have I pre-ordered anything, from anybody; but this is too good to pass up!

From the picture, it looks as if they'll all be 'clean' versions, instead of having identical dirt stains on their armor. Very, very good!

Man, I've gotten a head rush...

Mmmm, that set looks tasty...

11-16-2002, 09:00 AM
Now this is a set I'd want!

11-16-2002, 08:39 PM
With this being a February release it looks like the beginning of '03 will be pretty busy for us collectors. I can't wait!

I just finally got off my tail and ordered the Endor Troop pack. These troop builder sets is a step forward for Hasbro, actually doing something that collectors want to see.
Bring on the Rebel Fleet Trooper set!

11-17-2002, 07:43 AM
that set looks sweet! I just hope toypalace wil get it so I can order it too
althought the figs will need some custom weathering I'll definitly get at least one set, since I only have one POTJ sandtrooper
and I thought I had to customize my CTC stormies to get more sandtroopers...:)

11-17-2002, 09:04 AM
Is the Endor Soldier set available? Where at and how much?

Lord Malakite
11-17-2002, 01:07 PM
At least they had enough common sense to include all four colors. :) Specifically the black pauldron Sandtrooper since he has never been available prior (unless you count errors or customs).

11-18-2002, 03:41 PM
The concept of a four-pack army builder is long overdue.

11-18-2002, 04:01 PM
Endor rebel 4-pack is available at toypalace in germany who are having a sale right now to celebrate being in business five years.

go here to take a look see. I think they have them in stock right now and they do their prices in dollars too. http://www.toy-palace.com/ They might seem to be expensive but that's because it's a US exclusive supposedly, so it's a bit like selling ice back to the eskimos, (no offense intended to eskimo type people here, just a figure of speech, m'kay? :) )

11-19-2002, 11:42 AM
I wanted to second that note about the anniversary deal that is going on at toy-palace.de at the moment, I ordered there yesterday (10 figs, including Ephant Mon) and all basic Saga figs are 9,25 euros with the 15% off sale (which is pretty good for european standards)
so all of you guys who live in europe (non-uk I mean) and are still looking for Saga figs at a decent price, hurry up and order now, the sale is till 24.11, I think

11-21-2002, 02:27 PM
the army builders are awesome!

12-02-2002, 01:10 AM
What's the deal with the Endor builder set....is this a fan club exclusive that I missed or has the secondary market just gotten their hands on it earlier?

I keep checking the fan club website and haven't seen Endor Builder set. I don't think they are out yet. Sir Steve will probably post when they are available.

I haven't decided if I will pick up this set since I already have 2 POTF2 Endor troops and 4 (3 bearded, one non-bearded) Saga Endor Troops. I really dig the rest of the upcoming 4-packs. I can't wait to get them.

12-02-2002, 11:55 AM
My only problem, I'm one of those d**n completists. I NEED ONE OF EACH! Luckily I'm not a variation hunter.....otherwise I could not afford my habit!

Rogue II
12-02-2002, 01:35 PM
It must be hard being a completist....and expensive. Especially considering there is just little white box with 4 figures in it.

The Endor set will probably be the only Classic trilogy set I won't get. The POTF2 Endor troopers wern't bad, but I don't think it is worth $20. If they eventually show up at some crazy WOTC sale for $7, I will probably get them.

12-02-2002, 01:41 PM
I picked up plenty of Endor Rebel troopers when they were on clearance at the stores a couple of years ago. I might pass on this one, too.

12-03-2002, 08:54 AM
Are there any differences between these in the 4pk and the old POTF2 Endor soldiers....my monitor sucks and Im not seeing any differences at all. If there are some differences Im in, but I collect loose figures so I could imagine that 4 of my Endor soldiers came in a white box if I have to, to avoid spending 20 US that is.

Rogue II
12-03-2002, 09:03 AM
Well, I just looked again at the pics in the Collector's Database. They appear to be the the same mold as the POTF2 version. The only possible difference is a slight color variation.

These are actually available. I accidentally got a set instead of the thing I DID order from Yestertoys. I sent my set back since I had no need for them and I didn't want to feel like I was ripping them off. Anyhow... I had the little box in my hands, so they ARE out there. I'd try Yestertoys if you live in the U.S.

Have a blast kids!

12-03-2002, 09:36 AM
Yep, I think Im out. Most other sets for sure, but not these. Im not getting the Saga TIE Bomber either, even though it has "New improved Battle Damage!!!!". Not worth it. Man am I jaded after that shuttle fiasco....if this keeps up I'll be cutting them off completely (yeah right). :)

Id like to see the Imperial officers and rebel troopers come out like this, maybe a rebel technician set w different tools inside....apparently we're getting a Target set so the molds should be around.

Hey, since we're near the topic, what's the story with the Imperial 4pk? Who's in it and who's got a pic? Who's selling them? Is it available yet? How much? I searched these forums for this item a week or so ago and didn't get much info.

12-03-2002, 09:40 AM
I think that is a "forthcoming" item that has appeared on vendor lists. I don't know that ANYONE has confirmation on the contents of that set at this time. There is some vague speculation that it will be more officers than additional "troops" since those will be coming out in packs of their own.

12-03-2002, 09:51 AM
If Hasbro does release an Imperial 4-pack, I hope they modernize the figure, meaning get rid of the 1970s sideburns on the current Imperial officer. He's a little dated, and it shows. Other than that, a great figure.

I can't wait until the Rebel techie comes out!

12-03-2002, 10:15 AM
Dated or not, we DO sort of have to accept that even though it was the 1970s for us, it was still the way people preferred to style themselves during the height of Imperial reign.

I was under the impression that Galactic Hunter already gave us a sneak preview of the Imperial Forces 4pk:

The set contains a Vader, Stormtrooper, New AT-ST Driver and New Imperial R4 droid.

Also, TPU (The Private Universe) posted info on the Jedi Hunters 4pk - it includes Aurra, PotF2 Bossk, PotJ IG-88, 300th Fett (all repaints) and a Aurra's Swoop. (I'll post a link if I can find it)

The Imperial 4 pack is on preorder at yestertoys.com

I did a search on Yestertoys for "Endor." I see they also have:
Endor Troop builders - $22
Endor Trooper (POTF2 FF/Carded) - $5 ea.
Saga Endor Troop w/beard (not mint) $3
Saga Endor Troop w/o beard (not mint) $7.25

Personally, I'd pass on the "official" troop builder set and buy the carded versions.

Isn't there a Saga Imperial Officer and Rebel Fleet troop (both with head variations) on the list for next year?

12-03-2002, 11:00 AM
Missed that report! It's sad that you'll have to get all that rehash for one "new" droid. Methinks that passing on this one is in order.

Rogue II
12-03-2002, 11:37 AM
The whole package is a full of re-paints, but what do you expect for army builders? The only one I'm not crazy about in the Imperial set is the EW Vader. There are plenty of other Imperial troopbuilders they could have included in the set. I still plan getting it.

12-03-2002, 05:21 PM
Re-using parts for stuff like the AT-ST driver is okay since it is more acurate than the previous one. The stormtrooper really doesn't need updating from his commtech version but this one uses the sandtrooper as a basis which is pretty neat. A plain stormtrooper with arms doing something other than limply hanging. Not that that's bad but this is at least legitimate variation. However, doing a stormtrooper in a sniper position or a stormtrooper in a gunslinger position as part of a set like this might have been a tad more enticing. Provided it had trhe same sculpt quality. The droid is a rehash and an obscure one at that perhaps they'll change that for an Imperial R4 droid since they're doing the sculpt anyway at some point. That would be cool. Something i think would please more people than a re-used R4 droid. Vader is an odd choice. I've never taken to the EW Vader. Maybe if it'd had more articulation and they'd done an Emperor to go with it i might have gone for it but i hope they use a different Vader like doing the Dagobah one in solid black plastic, that's a good vader sculpt. The accessory is a bit weird too considering we're supposed to be geting a snowtrooper with cannon later in the year. Why chuck out the old cannon if they're going to release a new one?
So i think it's fair to say that the pics posted at Galactic hunter are really early prototype pics of the set and everything could change or it might not surface at all. I think pre-orders on this are a little premature to be honest.

12-09-2002, 12:04 AM
:D Clone trooper troop builder sets - that's what we need.

12-09-2002, 06:41 AM
Amen, FishEyedLouie!!!

12-09-2002, 04:25 PM
There's one supposedly coming in 2003, all the colors but plain white according to the speculation. or is that rumor? I agree that a plain white clonetrooper in a big old army builder pack would be the most financially lucrative and beneficial thing Hasbro could do right now to capitalise on the movie. A trooper ten pack or even just five would do. neutral pose but with articulation enough to get other poses. That way you could get the Kamino marching troopers out of them as well as all action Geonosis troopers. If hasbro are finally getting into the swing of this army builder lark then you'd think they would go for the pack that everyone seems to be clamouring for before shoving out stuff like Endor rebel troopers. Let's face it, the Endor fatigue rebels didn't exactly do much whereas the clonetroopers kicked bug and droid arse.
You can't really build an army out of sneak preview clonetroopers because they were short supplied. The red stripe clonetrooper is command and looks dumb in any number, the deluxe clonetrooper looks plain out stupid with that bulky armor so the answer must be to make a plain white clonetroop[er grunt and shove him out in great numbers.
