View Full Version : New Transformer re-issues revealed!

Well, the transformer sites are all abuzz with the news. It seems that TRU has entered some new info in their store computers. Here's the list, so far:
There is still no release date on these.
I don't recall a Silverstreak from the original line. I fear the prices are a bit high, all the die-hard fans seem to be saying the same thing. I also fear that Hasbro messed up BIG time with their choices here. We can only continue to hope for a re-issue of good old Soundwave and those COOL cassettes (Ravage was SOOO awesome!).
Anyway, if anyone is interested, I got the info over at:
a SSG affiliate site.;)

I agree that the prices are a bit high. I picked up Hot Rod only because he was the cheapest of the lot at TRU. The Optimus Primes left pretty quick but the Ultra Magnus has become a shelf warmer.
I also agree that the choices are a bit weak. I would love to see Soundwave make a comeback. With Bandai re-releasing their Macross Valkyries gives a perfect opportunity for Hasbro to give us Jetfire again. Come on Hasbro!

Silverstreak must be a new name for an old figure, like "Rodimus Major" (ugh), because the name isn't on the master list either as "Silerstreak" or "Silver Streak". I bet it'll be Bluestreak, who was one of my favorite first-wave Transformers. It could also be Sunstreaker, another first-wave Autobot, but I can't imagine "Sunstreaker" being a taken name. Plus, Bluestreak was gray while Sunstreaker was yellow.

I think you're right ... he may look a lot like this too ...
So rumor is that PM Optimus (http://www.transformers.com/pl/product_id.9660/dn/view_product.cfm) aka "God Ginrai" (how nice is that?) and Starscream (http://www.transformers.com/pl/product_id.9659/dn/view_product.cfm) are being released day after Thanksgiving.

The day after Thanksgiving?
Where did you hear that? I'm just curious.
BTW, Power Master Optimus...did he even sell that well the first time around? I think this is another BAD choice by Hasbro. Unfortunatly, I will be shelling out $35.00 for a Starscream, it's a bit steep, but cheaper than the Takara re-issues.
I do SOOOO hope that Hasbro gets their act together and re-issues Soundwave SOON.

I would love to have a Starscream. Sadly I have to work the day after Turkey Day and I'm sure they'll be gone quick.

I think you could file this rumor under "take it with a grain of salt", but ...
here it is (http://www.tformers.com/article.php?sid=749&mode=flat)
As for the Powermaster Optimus ... I dunno, it's one of my favorites ... but the real draw is that it's really "God Ginrai" and he comes with all of the extra bits and what not ... though that price is probably gonna keep me from buying him. Especially when I can find a Japanese/Takara reissue (http://matrixcollectibles.site.yahoo.net/godginrei.html) for the same amount.
Starscream on the other hand ... yeah, I'll probably get that. Oh yeah, the other release rumor ...
an update regarding the soon-to-be-released Series II, consisting of Starscream and Powermaster Optimus Prime with Apex Armor. Starscream is listed as shipping this next week and on December 12th. Powermaster Optimus Prime with Apex Armor has Christmas Day (December 25th) listed as his ship date (http://www.transfandom.com/)
I have a feeling that they may be putting out a good quantity of all these for the holidays. They've been selling pretty well ... though I still see huge piles of Ultra Magnus at TRU.

Silver Bluestreak looks pretty cool, I hope that's what they end up doing, though I'll take shiny silver paint over chrome plating if I get the choice. I dunno, some things just look cheap when they're chromed.
Bah, Powermaster Prime is not a good choice. I had the figure during its first run, it's actually a fun toy, but as a $50 collectible even with the Japanese extra pieces, it sucks. As for Starscream, I confess that I never really loved that figure's design, so I'll be saving my $$$ for something else.
Soundwave on the other hand - perhaps with all the various cassette designs - would be a must-have.

Oh YEAH, I loved all those little cassettes...especially...
It would be SWEET if they made a box set with Soundwave and all the cassettes displayed in a window box!
As for Starscream, I actually liked the jet designes. I had one way back, I forget which one, Ramjet I suppose.
