View Full Version : What TV shows do you watch?

11-21-2002, 01:22 PM
After reading the "Birds of Prey" thread I was wondering- What TV shows fellow SSG'ers watch. I'm not talking about the "If I have time I catch it", or "If I'm flipping around and see it on" type stuff. Moreover the shows you make it a point to watch, and schedule your time around it. "I make it a point to have dinner finished before it comes on", type of watching.

The only shows I make it a point to watch are Enterprise, 24, Futurama and the Simpsons, and Survivor. I wish Fox hadn't canceled Titus, I used to watch it and That 70's show and on Fridays Dark Angel.

I watch 24. Beyond that I just watch the local news, discovery channel and new dvd releases. Um I also watch both WWE programs every week with my husband. His cousin wrestles on the Smackdown show. I loved Freaky Links but fox took it off the air for some reason. Did any of you all watch it ??

11-21-2002, 01:34 PM
Birds of Prey
The Shield (Well I will when they start on the next season in January)
The Simpsons
Drew Carey Show
Whose Line Is It Anyway

Rogue II
11-21-2002, 01:40 PM
The only shows I ever plan on watching are Football, Hockey, Sportcenter, Simpsons, Monty Python (Thursdays on BBC America for those of you who hav Dish Network) and Futurama.

If I remember, I watch South Park and sometimes see wrestling.

Most of the time, my TV is tuned in to Sesame Street, Bear in the Big Blue House, and Blues Clues. If you don't understand, get your own 1 year old.

JMS, who is your husband's cousin?

Farscape...well, when it was on! Besides that there is nothing that I actually plan to watch. I do watch the Simpsons when I get home everyday, but that is because it is the best thing on at the time that I am eating dinner.

11-21-2002, 01:52 PM
I watch alot of TV Programs. I actually perfer a good British sit-com than a movie any day (appart from Star Wars of course ;)). You can't beat British comedy :D! (Friends came close)
Red Dwarf,
Bad Girls (no it's NOT a porno like alot of people think, it's a drama set in a woman's prison :)),
V Graham Norton,
Father Ted,
Fawlty Towers.

And many, many more ;)

Patient Zero
11-21-2002, 01:59 PM
Pendo, you still have Red Dwarf on tv over there? Damn, I'm lucky if I can find Fawlty Towers on PBS during the wee hours of the morning once a month.

The Overlord Returns
11-21-2002, 02:27 PM
Hockey night in Canada ( and any televised Leaf game)
Premier League (scottish)
That 70's show
American Justice..........

11-21-2002, 02:33 PM
Friends (almost every day, re-runs though)
That 70's Show

those are the ones I watch on regular basis, then there are others I sometimes watch like 24, futurama, sex and the city etc.

11-21-2002, 02:50 PM
I guess I wan't thinking of Sporting events as a TV show- but I watch a lot of them. Way too many actually. I spend half a day on Saturday (I only watch Oklahoma and on occasion Kansas State), and all day Sunday (I watch all games, but never miss the Jets)watching football. Now with College Basketball starting up, I'll be spending many a night in front of the TV. As soon as Baseball is over, it seems college basketball starts, good thing I'm not an NBA or NHL diehard.

11-21-2002, 03:23 PM
I watch TV every so often, so here is the list:

The Simpsons
Adult Swim (Sealab, ATHF, Harvey Birdman)
Kids in the Hall (when it's actually on)

NickToons TV at midnight to 1 am and 8 am to 9 am M-F

It's not Nickelodeon the channel, this one plays cartoons 24/7 and NO COMMERCIALS. I get it through Charter digital cable.

They still play animaniacs all the time too!

ps. good to see a fellow Spongepantser :D

My TV time has been cut dramatically within the past year. My life has become busier. Heck, I used to watch two hours of Game Show network everyday but now I am lucky to sneak in a half hour (but I still find the time to come here almost every night) ;)

The shows that I do find the time to watch:

The Simpsons
The Price is Right
Buffalo Sabres NHL Hockey
Buffalo Bills NFL football
The Fairly Odd Parents
Various History Channel programs (my favorite being History's Mysteries)

11-21-2002, 10:06 PM
These are shows I actively watch and/or tape to enjoy, I watch a lot of other stuff while I work, but these I go out of my way to see:
The Practice
Law & Order: Criminal Intent
South Park
Stargate: SG1
Iron Chef
Good Eats
Adult Swim Sunday (I tape these for someone else as well, Home Movies, Sealab 2021, Brak Show, Space Ghost Coast to Coast)
Battlebots (another that I tape for someone else)

I also miss Titus and Family Guy not being on the air, those were funny shows. I kinda hate how Fox treats their new series.

I wish there were new eps of Rocko's Modern Life and more new eps of Spongebob, but it seems like now I've seen 'em all at least 3 times.

11-21-2002, 10:20 PM
late night tawk: letterman, conan, kilby. also leno, charlie rose & carson dildy if they have a good guest, otherwise 2 hell w/them :p

whatever trek's currently in production, and snl of course
also try to catch the local weathercasts when i can- gotta see them sunset timelapses

11-21-2002, 11:15 PM
Family Guy did get 3 seasons out of Fox (not in a row though), and Home Movies is still being made on Cartoon Network.

Personally, I can't stand talk shows anymore - I blame Andy Richter, after he left, none of them were as fun to watch. Don't get me wrong, Conan is still funny whenever I catch the show, but I rarely go out of my way anymore to do so.

Oh I forgot the Late Show w/ David Letterman - but only on Fridays, and days when I don't have school the next day.

There's only gonna be like 14 new SpongeBobs between now and 2004. They're too busy working on the movie, which comes out then. :)

See, that's why Malakite is a moderator, he watches more TV than I do. ;) I'm kidding of course, nobody watches more TV than I do. :crazed:

I can't believe I forgot to list Harvey Birdman, and I'm really glad other people watch Good Eats! Good Eats is the opposite side of the "fun food learning" coin from Unwrapped.

I'm surprised so many of you go out of your ways to watch series that aren't in their first run.

Oh, and I forgot to list The Osbournes, Scrubs, and Andromeda (which by default means I also watch Mutant X, but only because it directly precedes Andromeda - ah convenience ;)).

11-24-2002, 01:17 PM
Hey chaps

I can't find any reference to 6 Feet Under here ........ it's the best show to come out of the US in years (I'm a Brit).

I'm watching season 2 on UK satelite TV - both me and the mrs LOVE it.

The acting is superb and the story is brilliant (if a little wierd at times).

Anyway, love it, love it, love it.

Keep it up US.

whatever happened to one-stop dishin? i Still don't get the need for a "gendiscuss" And "other" in the misc section, and now this?? sometimes it seems like you ptb ain't gonna be happy til the forum's subdivided into 9 million superspecialized-narrow bacobits like "people with hiccups" :p
anyhoo, i forgot to list this 3-minute show from australia that comes on every morning on pbs right after business minute and right before yoga stretch. it's an educational program designed to teach anyone how to speak in a perfect aussie accent and it's called Eat A Choy, Mayte! :D (sponsored by fostuh's :p )

jt: "I rarely go out of my way anymore to (catch tawkshows)"
jms: "wish I had that much time to watch TV"
-i have a 15-year old vcr warhouse slaved exclusively to the task of taping all them tawkshows & i watch em the next day while eating or doin somethin not requiring full attention, cuz during the banter (but not the sketches) you don't even have to look at the screen usually (which i guess is why they've started to syndicate the audio portion of letterman on drive-time radio). i also fastforward thru all the comms, the creds, the applause breaks, and the nearly-ALWAYS crappy musical guests (dave matthews, foo fighters, sheryl crow & countless clones thereof) so i get done in no time :D

11-26-2002, 09:36 PM
It wasn't my idea to make a TV section. As for 'other', that's for silliness like the Bouka and other non-discussion threads.

I have a bank of 20+ year old VCRs, including 2 Betamax machines, but I only use the 2 modern ones. The others are for repair practice, I can't imagine watching even more TV. :D
