View Full Version : Unleashed: Pole Dancing Leia and a Lazy Rehash
11-27-2002, 11:39 AM
Just say the new Unleashed on Hasbro.com. They seem to be getting lazy with a line with great potential. Having only made 7 figures. Hasbro will go right to rehashing Vader for the next 2. They couldn't even make ten unique sculpts? Lazy.
Then there is pole dancing Leia. Will Look good on the shelf with my pole dancing Jenna. Interesting that Hasbro chose seduction for someone who is a "slave" and is basically sexually assaulted by Jabba. Good message for kids.
Why waste time, Give us Yoda, Han and Chewbacca. Then the true power of this line will be unleashed...:crazed:

Now that we have clearer pictures, the Vader doesn't look all that bad. The left arm should have been reposed more, but it's still nice to have one without his helmet. Since these are supposed to be artistic interpretations, and not actual scenes from the movie, the Vader looks fine this way. :)
Leia: Slave Girl is a work of art. She's well sculpted, and nicely posed. Regardless of the complaints that she's overly sexy, she was in that outfit from the movie anyway. I'm just happy to see that they did such a nice job on the sculpt. Better then the Padme Unleashed. :)
The biggest news, is the last line of the article. "Check back early next week for a sneak peek at the second wave of 2003 basic figures." Hopefully, we will finally see pictures of Anakin: Wedding, Lama Su, Aayla Secura, Flying R2-D2, SP4 and JN66, Boba Fett, and Bariss Offee. :)

One can only hope... it's been WAY too long since we've seen new pics of the basic figures that are yet to come!
Seriously, though- Leia looks fine, but again weren't we covering these in the vinyl figures?

The sculpts are good, But why not Vader choking Capt. Antilles or change the pose a little and bring out his oxygen chamber more. The previous Vader is a GREAT collectable. Let's not cheapen it with similars. Make an Unmasked Vader count.
As for the basic figures...More Jedi! and PLEASE have Anakin wearing his Jedi robes. It could be a great figure...

Slave Leia looks lovely. Vader looks alright, but i want something kinda new. Choking somebody was a nice suggestion. I wonder if Hasbleh would ever make a like an unleashed 2 pack Final Duel w/ Vader and Luke. Or maybe have 2 sets of jedi duel and have them connect? That would rule! Just my thoughts though. :D

Good Golly Miss Molly. Leia's lookin' mighty fine. There's nothin' finer than a half-nekkid woman holding a vibro-blade. And she's all kinds o' fine.
LEIA will be my first purchase from the Unleashed line. And I think the Vader is a big improvement from the last one. I love the angry expression on his scarred face. May get him, too.
11-27-2002, 02:37 PM
Leia is nice and a must have for any SW fanboy. IMHO. ;)
As for the Vader, yeah the choking pose would have been sweet. I can't believe Hasbros bringing out the rehashes, all ready, in a line this young. :(
But what the hell, it's Vader, and I'll have to have it. :D

LEIA!!! :D :D :D

Very nice. I wasn't going to buy any of the Unleashed, but this Leia would make a nice bookend to go with Amidala. And they'll both fit in well with the Danger Girl set.
11-27-2002, 04:47 PM
I'll get'em if they're about $1 when I find them. Vader sucks, it just doesn't fit being rehashed from Bespin Vader. The Leia is pathetic, just an "artist's" dream of sculpting and they know they'll sell them. I think she'd look better in an action pose or with a Jedi Luke about to swing across on the rope.

Oh come on Leia looks great for a hunk of pastic. I have enjoyed the line up till now, but the new Vader brings fear to the life of the line. Hasbro did say that the 2003 line is changing to ummm I guess a softer side.

Nice piece of [EDITED] fantasy for some I guess. It's leia's costume but it's not Carrie fisher. I'm sorry but that pose couldn't get more [EDITED] if it tried. I might have been kinder if it had shown Leia in character but that's just any old slapper from a lap dancing club with a brass bikini on. Soft porn to attract the spotty teenagers and guys who got married too young and still like to think they could cut it with the chicks.
Maybe they could do a soft porn one for the girls and do Anakin having his 'nightmare'. I am so not interested in these 'things' lump of plastic is dead right. Useless lump.

I am rolling on the floor laughing at the recent comments made on this thread. And they say "I" post some rather suggestive stuff? In any case, I will enjoy this thread for as long as it lasts. :)
Now you see, Hasbro still supplies us with fun with their products - even well before they are actually released!

The Slave Leia is a...toy? Gosh, I'm sure glad I don't have an 8-year old who buys these things. I mean, damn, her [EDITED] is hanging right out. I'm sorry, but this "toy" is a disgrace to the toyshelves.
Having said that, the character depicted is a nice looking figure. This thing should be like a fan club exclusive or something.

Umm, did you actually see Return of the Jedi? Check it out sometime, and you will notice that the figure is based on the outfit. You get an eyeful of her cheeks when her and Luke swing over to the skiff. Besides, a pair of arse cheeks isn't even dirty. Have you seen PG movies now a days?
I don't understand how americans can be so damn sexually repressed about everything. Even the site of the human body. It's the same with movies, show an arse or a breast and you get people screaming, but violence, blood, and gore, and people don't even bat an eye. Hell, McFarlane has done alot more risque things. :p :)

Do you have children, and if so, would you buy one of these for them?
Who cares what McFarlane has done...that is not a line for young children in the 1st place, IMHO. This figure is W-A-Y out of line with everything else Hasbro has done.
Believe me, I'm all in favor of nudity, if it's done TASTEFULLY. This figure is NOT in line with the spirit of the character it supposedly depicts. This is a pole-dancing stripper. When I saw ROTJ, Leia was a SLAVE against her will. There's a big difference.

I dont have a very strong opinion about the Unleashed line. I'm not to interested in them unless they make one that really catches my eye. The Vader doesnt look to bad but it I like the choking idea I saw in another post and as far as the Leia humm.....what do you all think about posing her in a fighting stance maybe with the cannon on Jabbas Sailbarge??
11-27-2002, 09:38 PM
Children arn't the point, or the issue. American culture is the most sexually repressed one on the planet. Sure, a figure that gets decapitated, cut in half, or has a arm or hand cut off, and no one bats an eye. Show a bit of cheek on figures that are specifically made for teen and older collectors, and you get the complaining.
The human body is a work of art. Would you cover your childs eyes for images of Michaelangelo's David. Or any of that other great works of art that depicts unclothed figures? Seriously, it's sad sometimes how anal-retentive American culture is. For christ sake, it's not like Leia is buck naked. :stupid: :p

You're not seeing my point. MY point is that the Leia sticks out like a sore thumb with respect to the rest of the Hasbro line. That's all.
This toy was made because of the recent surge in popularity of these porn star figures that look NO DIFFERENT from this.
Michaelangelo's David is just a guy standing there being naked. An ACCURATE depiction of the subject (we can assume). This toy is INNACCURATE and in bad taste.
If it's not for kids, make it a Fan Club exclusive. But I bet the thing will say something like for ages 3 and up right on the box.
11-27-2002, 09:50 PM
I see your point, it's just horribly presented. The entire Unleashed line, is artist interpretations of the Star Wars charecters. They are not based on 100% on the charecter from the movies.
You have no knowledge of why the figure was made. The people that collect porn star figures, likely don't even collect Star Wars ones. They arn't even sold in the same sort of quantities, or in the same manor.
Hasbro's Leia: Slave Girl is just a representation of Carrie Fisher from Return of the Jedi. Hell, if they can stick her on the beach in the outfit for a magazine, what is so wrong with this. Hell, some Barbie dolls are more seductive looking then this.
The entire line is inaccurate, so you obviously don't get the nature of the line. They are artistic interpretations of the charecters. That's why Maul is in an Anime pose, etc. The only bad taste the figure is hitting on, is your sexually repressed attitudes.
The figure doesn't need to be a Fan Club exclusive, as there is nothing wrong with it. It's a perfectly natural figure. Man, with people like you, I'm suprised they ever made a Slave Leia figure at all. I'm sure you would have complained about the POTJ Deluxe verison as well, had you been a member when she was released..

1st of all, you know NOTHING about me, so you can keep the personal comments about your OPINION of my character to yourself.
2nd of all, I understand the concept of the line.
3rd of all, the 1st post of this thread references the similarity between the porn star figures and this thing. I guess we have no proof, but is it coincidence that this thing comes out as the porn figures get popular?
4th of all, you're right, the porn star figures aren't sold in the same manner. Why do you suppose that is?
5th of all, if it's a ****ing match you want, I've been reading SSG since it BEGAN and posted HUNDREDS of times before the Forums were overhauled, using the same name. You can ask JT. Or Derek. Or Thrawn. I think Tycho was using these forums back then as well. Or anybody else who was around then. I'd bet even SirSteve would recognize that. Since you WEREN'T, you would not know! Dude, you LOVE to judge a book by it's cover. I bet you believe that SirSteve first started posting in August of 2001, too. LOL.
My apologies to everyone else here. Didn't mean to start a flame war just by posting MY HUMBLE OPINION.

THAT IS IT! I am getting sick and tired of seeing you 2, EricRG and JarJar squaring off on who has the bigger coconuts! This is not for the board, get it through your heads!! If you have problems or you see that its coming to an arguement, TAKE IT TO PM!!! I am an easy going guy, BUT I will not allow anyone to walk all over me or my areas! That is not showing respect for me, for this site, or for your fellow Forumites.
This thread has been closed! If I see any other referances to a Pole Dancing Leia, those comments will be removed. That being said . . . .
