The most insane commercial I have ever seen that uses Star Wars. Can you say lawsuit?
The local police here have a commercial where a man in a hooded cloak is asking a suspect where the meth lab is. The suspect at first says he doesn't know, then the guy in the cloak waves his hand at him, Jedi-style and the suspect gives up the address of the meth lab. Cut to the outside of the "meth house." The same guy in the hooded cloak walks up to the door, igniting a green lightsaber as he goes. Then theres an interior shot of a bunch of "meth supplies", chemicals and whatever, and you see a lightsaber poke through the wall and cut it away, like in the Tusken Raider tent in AOTC. At the end some cop says something like, "If you make meth, watch out, the Force is with us."
The cgi effects are actually pretty good, too, it looks like a "real" lightsaber. I wish I could convert it to an mpeg in my computer somehow, but I don't know how.
So anyway, I had to make one of my ultra-rare appearances to share the North Little Rock Police Departments new "meth campaign" Think George Lucas has a lawsuit?
Hey Fulit ! Good to "see" ya again.
If George had costumed the Tuskens in stained wife-beaters, then he might have a case. :D
:crazed:

It's definitely funny. The funniest thing, is the cops themselves play all the roles, and few things are funnier than a no-acting Arkansan cop that can't even say a few bad lines convincingly.
If I was braver (or stupider?) like Tom Green or someone, I'd clip a towel to my back for a cloak and take my blue lightsaber and burst into the N.L.R.P.D. and announce, "I want to learn the ways of the Force and battle meth dealers!"
Anyone know what kind of equipment you'd need to like, tape record the commercial and convert it to an .mpeg on a computer?
50 points if you do.

Fulit, that sounds hilarious! And can you imagine the bad press Lucasfilm would get if they sued the police department? :D

It depends on your computer. If it is relatively newer, you might have a "firewire" connector in. If you don't know what one looks like, you'll have to look through your manual or other printed materials that came with it to find out. If so, then you need a VCR with Firewire out. Then your operating system might have a capture program, like Moviemaker that comes with Windows XP.
If you don't have a firewire built into your system, you'll have to purchase one of the many types of products that allow this sort of thing. Dazzle (http://www.dazzle.com) is one that allows both digital in as well as analog. If your VCR is older, it might just have RCA's out so you'll need a capture device that supports analog in. Dazzle has a couple as well as Pinnacle (http://www.pinnaclesys.com). You can also buy a new ATI (http://www.ati.com) video capture card, like the 8500DV, which supports digital and analog. But that one requires the newer AGP 2 slot.
All video capture devices work far better with faster processors and all the RAM you can afford. Most also come with some kind of editing program, though some are easier to use than others. And most will set you back around $200 or so.
How can I redeem my 50 points? :)

Umm... we don't have a system for redeeming the Jedi... I mean Fulit points, yet, exactly, but we're, um working on it, yeah, that's it, and we should have something soon. That's the ticket.
Oh, yeah, thanks, stillakid!
