Remember the cartoon "Battle of the Planets"?

I loved it when I was a kid in the 70's/80's.

Anyway, series 2 of the action figs is available in early 2003 and the Tiny figure comes with a MM sized PHOENIX - cooooooooool !!

I've seen series 1 in comic shops in Liverpool but didn't buy them as the MM sized vehicles are pretty boring.

But the PHOENIX - that's a different story - in the absence of any new Trek/Wars MM's, I'm definately having one.

You can just see it on this link.......

Bit of an expensive way to get the Phoenix isn't it Britcit ?
If only toy manufacturers made half as many vehicles as they do action figures.

Did you get your Konami UFO set?

yorkie! always good to see an old face drop by now and again:)

we ain't hoid a woid from you in a dog's age (get it? ...yorkie?...dog's age? ha ha ha i crack myself up.
:crazed: ) pardon my goofballism, i'm truely glad to see that your still around, stop in more often! :)

speakin o' hairy hounds from hell, where's ol beelzebub been keepin himself lately? baal! pop in from time to time and say howdy, particularly now that you got the 1st of prolly many proto's to tell us about :)

as fer the phoenix, i'm with vt, we need to see a better pic. all's i see on the link at ee is a trio of marvel comic wannabee's running around in interstellar clown suits. can't make out the ships too well from that photo.

i'm gathering by your enthusiasm bc3, that this is a pertty cool ship. i can't say that i'm familiar with the show. accordin' to the product description, the show's been on the air here in the u.s. since 1978, and it runs in syndication on the cartoon network. you'd think with two chillun, ages 7 and 8, i would have seen at least one episode (my kidz are aghast when they hear that back in their old man's day, cartoons were a luxury, only available to be seen on saturday mornings:eek: gawd dad? how on earth could you live without cartoons, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week?! ), but i honestly have to say, i'v never seen this show.

if you find a better link bc3, of if after you've received this and it is indeed as cool as your hoping, let us know about it!

I was looking after a rare micro model of the regular "Eagle" from Space 1999 and I think I will pass and order a few Konami sets !!!

i just received the ufo moon base from hobby japan.

each of the mm sized ships require assembly and painting, which shouldn't (hopefully) be too difficult.

the directions are all in japanese, so this should be somewhat challanging to complete.

wish me luck! (i'm gonna need it!)

when i hopefully complete the assembly, i'll post a pic showing the completed moon base and vehicles.

GSJ, maybe you should ask Hobby Japan for a translation. When I bought the X-Wing kit, I had the same problem with the instruction sheet in Japanese, I e-mailed them and they sent me the instructions translated in english by mail.

A pic of the upcoming Konami sets has been posted on the HLJ website, in addition to the "Space 1999" Space Eagle, there will be a very cool Space Hawk (seen in only one episode in the serie).

i just placed my pre-order for one of these sets, so if anyone else is ordering this set, once we receive them, maybe we can trade and swap if necessary due to the boxs being packed randomly. this way we can increase our chances of each person getting a complete set.

if i end up getting a set of 10 of those fishies, i'm gonna hurl big time:eek:

i just received the shipment from hobby link.

the 1st two boxes i opened were the eagle and the hawk from space 1999.

wow! the detail is amazing. the ships are about 5 inches long (too big for mm's, they're about the same size of die casts)

i am thrilled with the hawk and eagle. the eagle comes with a seperating building section, (just like the old dinky version)

if you haven't ordered them yet, by all means do! you will not be disapointed. a really supberb toy!

02-24-2003, 11:02 AM
i opened up all the box's and the only one i didin't get was the red super car.

i received 2 eagles, 2 hawks, 2 mac's jet cars, 2 stingray's, 1 explosives truck u-59, and one fish. (thank gawd only 1 fish)

if any of you guys who ordered this set, have an extra supercar, i will gladly trade one of my dupes for it. (i'll even throw in the fish)

i would like to hold on to both sets of the eagle and the hawk, but if someone got two supercars, and not one of either the hawk or eagle, i will gladly trade dupe for dupe.

Mmmh...
It's very curious, this Bandaï Enterprise was announced to be a model kit. And the first pictures of the ships shows model parts
http://www.hlj.com/ths/ent/index.html (bottom of page).
Maybe these parts are tooling process samples... But on the other page : http://www.hlj.com/stann.html HLG said it is a model...
If I understood well, the model is a snap kit and it will be pre-painted (the famous "Aztec" deco). I'm sure you will have to paint a few details and apply the decals by yourself. I'm really curious to see what will be inside the box.
The price is also very interesting if you order one from Japan (MIM have them for pre-order : $94.99).

cabour
02-25-2003, 09:54 AM
Sicqnus, the correct spelling is "model kit", but modelers often say "kit" or "model" to speak about it, that's why you may be confused (comme on dirait une maquette ou un modèle réduit ici !).

Side note : an Enterprise-E is also coming from Bandai (end of year)

I'm kinda skeptical now on this one... I really loathe model kit decals (and stickers from regular toys too really) and for the price on this, if it requires additional paint and assembly beyond ultra-basic, I may have to stick with the Art Asylum one. Damn, I feel really bad even for typing that out, but I am that unskilled and lazy when it comes to models, the poor electronic NCC-1701-A I built back in the late '80s (or was it early '90s?) was fragile and a huge pain in the behind to build and had a bunch of ripped & poorly-aligned stickers.

Upon reflecting on this for a total of 3 minutes, I'm pretty sure I'm gonna end up passing on this Bandai model, the fragility alone would be a major issue for me since I live in earthquake-country.

There was also a toy of the refit-Enterprise produced by the South Bend Company in the mid 80's. A very curious toy with electronics and removable saucer & nacelles. Pretty good toy for the year, almost impossible to find nowadays...

I'm impatient to take my hands on the AA Enterprise-A ! If this toy is as good as the NX-01, it will be a great addition to my collection !!!
AA sais they will produce later the Reliant (13" long) and the Enterprise-E (originally planned to be 16" long but could be longer).

Now I have to rob' a bank...

One up for auction on Ebay :

Actual value of this toy is between $150 and $300 (last sale from NewForceComics on Ebay) for a mint in mint box item with unapplied decals.

Thanks for the head's-up on that, an interesting piece that, had I owned it as a kid, I would have been way into it. The concept is great, modular starships would be really cool. If I had the dough, I'd jump all over that auction.

My young neighbour showed me yesterday a few figures from the WizKids "Mechwarrior" Dark Age - Booster and Starter sets. Each booster came with cards, maps and great painted mini-figures : 1 mech, 2 armored vehicles, 5 infantery figures.
The booster sets could be find for approx $6 each. There is more than 116 figures to collect.
Another great micro-figures collection.

did anyone else order the sci fi gerry andersen set from hobby link? i could swear that several of us here (other than me)was going to do so.

anyway, i highly recommend doing so before they become unavailable. the ufo konami set (which is now out of production) fetches a ton o' scratch on ebay. that aside, i definately recommend the sets to all here, they really are quite amazing, detail wise. and as i stated before, they're about the same size as a galoob die-cast, so they definately qualify as sci fi micro fun!

JediTricks

sic, I had heard that the MechWarrior stuff was all N-scale. Isn't that too small for anything Action Fleety or even MMy (figure-wise)?

cabour
03-05-2003, 03:15 AM
As I precised in another topic, the AT-TE and the mechwarior stuff (which is effectively in N-scale) are around the same scale.
And I found funny to put some of these tiny figures and robots next the AT-TE, that give more life to it.

good shot jansen is right about the konami sets. They are really well done, are far better detailed and painted than the MM diecast. The UFO set is certainly the top of the entire SF line.

Finally got my Battle of The Planets Phoenix ship from the TINY action figure.

I love it.

It is almost micro sized and is made of tough plastic so that I can throw it in the box with all my other micros.

The details is quite good and all in all makes a great addition to my collection.

Would recommend it!

hotwheels has this pak of 5 or 6 spacey "atomix" ~mm-size vehicles which include a hi-tech speedboat and a tron-esque tank. meanwhile transformers offers a few 3-pax of semi-clear "armada" vehicles which aren't too far off mm/dc size.
personally gonna pass on armadas, but might snag the atomix pak, if it goes down from $5-7 to, say, $2.50

I have nearly every Minicon from the Armada line (over 50), and half of the minicons in the new Energon line (there are 6). I like the little buggers, only a handful are real duds. I'm not sure how they'd stand in for MM collectors, but WM seems to have some of the Armada minicon 3packs on clearance if you wanna check 'em out. The Energon Saber set, the 3 yellow clear minicon jets you saw, are repaints and remolds of the first Armada set, the Star Saber figures, which also featured clear plastics but were more realistic jets.

Ever since Atomix playsets went down to $5 at Target (for this year's sets, last year's are still $10) I've been very tempted to get these, they look like worthy successors to the MM throne. Oh, and the Atomix car 5packs have been lowered to $2.50 at Targets in my area.

-in that case, if i can't bag the same price here i might prevail upon you to score me the tron-tank set (it'd go nice with my vintage technobot that looks like a lightcycle  ); in return i wouldn't charge you for your replacement sact (what, you didn't think you were gettin that for Free didja? )
