I just got my SW insider today and the map that came with it really helped answer alot of questions. It helped clarify that Naboo and Dagobah are not the same planet as some folks were speculating. I didn't realize that there were so many planets that were close to each other and/or far away.

Is this from issue #65? Still waiting on it...
Is there a quote from Lucasfilm to confirm Naboo/Dagobah? Not to be a nitpicker, but all the Boba Fett "history" stories were OK'd by Lucasfilm and were shot to pieces by AOTC, so I've become a tad more skeptical lately.

Is it the same map that was issued with the star wars gamer series? Colored, planet listing, hyperspace routs, etc?

Or is it a map like the maps on the hard bound inside covers of the new jedi order books?

Man I can't wait I love maps...

They do give reference to all those maps and are similar. THis one is specifically for Galaxies 2, An Empire Divided. But it shows Naboo and Dagobah as seperate planets and are a distance away.

cool a new up to date map...

I wonder if anything in the "unknown region" will be listed...man I can't wait.

Kamino is listed as is all the planets that have been destroyed.
As is Naboo's sister planet Rori. It says that despite 25,000 years of hyperspace, a great deal of the galaxy is unexplored.

Man, I wish my insider would hurry up and get here...I wanna see the map.

It's a cool map. I'm thinking about framing mine.

Map is pretty neat. I am a little disappointed in the SW Galaxies images, since they seem too CGI (yes, I know that's what they are). Interesting note: Naboo is the Emperor's vacation rereat? Hmm...

So, according to the map, In TPM they left Naboo headed for Coruscant, but had to land on Tatooine, which was in the opposite direction...
The other think I've never liked about stellar cartography in the SW universe is the fact that all the planets are in a single plane. That's mighty convenient...

I always got the impression that the hyperdrive was broken so they wanted to get to the closest planet without Trade Federation ties, regardless of direction. Or maybe that's the rationalization I came up with when I saw the NJO map. :D

Obi says it is small and "out of the way."

Those crooks at the Insider, I sent them a check for renewal, and they sent me a renewal notice, but no magazine. How long has the new one been out?

Don't you remember the classic "Mickey Mouse Versus the Greek God of the Underworld" cartoon? The god Pluto challenges Mickey to a battle of magic and Mickey tricks him by reflecting Pluto's blast back to him, turning the god into an orange, thin dog. That was a funny one... :p

I got my Insider this week, too (1/5-1/9/03)

Is KORRIBAN on the map? The Sith homeworld? Can't find it.

weren't there just a select few who knew about that planet? Its like the planet vader had his "retreat" place. Vos, Vox, something like that...

Yea I remember reading the comics about the hyperspace wars.

I thought some of those planets were lost to time, and others stayed hidden and only known to sith lords. What was the name of that sith grave yard planet? That was only known to vader and the emperor, or a select few?

Either way I wouldn't want to mess with those dog/beast that would attack anyone who's not a sith lord...

I'd like to ammend my last post...

It wasn't the hyperspace wars comics, it was from those jedi tales stories. The one with Jori Darklighter and her brother Gav who were trying to map hyperspace routs and got caught up in the middle of a sith feude, and helped lead the sith into the core worlds...

Yea these guys.

OG Sith (http://www.sirstevesguide.com/forums/attachment.php?s=&postid=222856)

If that is true that plays great into my novel I am writing. The Borg find this planet by accident and assimilate a number of these Sith in a burial chamber deep beneath the surface. The Sith are not quite dead but in a Darkside force induced stasis in which is just before death they lock in their life force.

If you look at it closely, they actually look more like the Planet of the Apes ape-men and women.

Don't know. I thought their last name was darklighter, or something to that extent.

Actually, it was Darragon. Gav and Jori Darragon.

But there is a Gavin Darklighter, so the error was not severe. He is the newest Rogue Squadron Leader in the NJO era, I believe.

True.

Of course, the character in question was also named Gav and not GavIN.
