This is a real straight up question. Do you think Anakin will make to the level of Jedi Knight in or at the end AotC? In ANH Obi-Wan said that Anakin was a Jedi Knight just like him, I know the Obi-Wan didn't always tell the truth (OK, he lyed-ALOT) but it's worth chewing over.

i kind of doubt it...maybe...

If he isn't given the level of Jedi Knight by the end of Ep2, then the outlook is grim.

However, Obi-Wan did say, "I was a Jedi Knight too, like your father," so it is possible he is given this title sometime between Ep2 and 3.

Why not, after all Anakin last longer in the fight with Count Dooku than Obi-Wan does but he still loses.

He would have to take the trials unless......Did Obi Wan actually take them, or did he have the title bestowed upon him by the Council because of his deeds in TPM? Anyone have the novel handy? If he were able to earn it by his deeds, then it is possible that he will earn it at the end of AOTC.

I think he becomes a Jedi Knight right before he makes a huge leap towards the dark side.

Obi-Wan got his title because he cut Darth Maul in half. Yoda confirmed that he was a Jedi Knight and allowed him to train Anakin at the end of TPM. Anakin may receive his knighthood for his efforts against Count Dooku.

No I don't think so :( cause he'll still be under Obi-Wans instructions in the beginning of EP3

Okay. You get to be a Jedi Knight by taking the trials.

You get to be Jedi Master by successfully training one padawan into Jedi Knightdom.

So Qui Gon wasn't really a master. He failed with his first padawan (Xanatos) and didn't live to see his second padawan take the trials.

Obi Wan wasn't a jedi master either. Because HIS Padawan KILLED OFF ALL THE JEDI. Not a very successful training.

No wonder the Jedi are extinct...

How do we know he will still be under Kenobi's wing at the beginning of E3?

he must have read the script they had on ssg a while back...(sigh) can't wait to see whose wrong and whose right..

Does Obi-Wan actually say "...jedi KNIGHT, the same as your father."

Or does he just say "...JEDI, the same as your father."

That would make a difference.

Either way, I dont know why Obi would still be training a Knight, because later on in that movie, Darth says to Obi, "When we last met I was but the learner, now I am the master."

Maybe Darth was referring to himself as being a learner under the tutelage of Palpatine/Sideous.

Maybe I have misquoted him. I'd check, but I dont want to have to fast forward and rewind through a magnetic video tape (ugh).

DVD head count: One down, three to go (or five if you count the two that haven't come out yet).

Same as your father...that states that Obi-Wan and Anakin were at the same level both Jedi Knight's or Obi-Wan was blowing smoke up Luke's @#$...

Cause Vader said (if I remember correctly) "When I left you I was a learner but now I'm the master - Vader,ANH(something to that effect) meaning he was a padawan learner until he left Obi-Wan after the Obi vs Anakin Battle!

OBI-WAN: I was once a Jedi Knight the same as your father.

VADER: When I left you, I was but the learner; now I am the master.

EP I OPENING CRAWL: the Supreme Chancellor has secretly dispatched two Jedi Knights, the guardians of peace and justice in the galaxy, to settle the conflict...I think you guys are playing the semantics here a wee bit too literally. Obi-Wan's ANH words are vindicated by the Ep 1's opening crawl, just because one is a padawan, that does not mean one is NOT a Jedi Knight. Clearly the term "Jedi Knight" is flexible in non-formal usage.

As for Vader's comments, just because he said he was the learner when they split up, I don't think that means he was not a Jedi Knight at that time, I think Vader simply meant that he was still just a Jedi that Obi-Wan taught and NOW he's more... much more.

All good points, JT.

one thing we may be overlooking is that anakin may leave the jedi order all together after his marriage to padme. are the jedi allowed to marry? this itself may get anakin booted out.

11-09-2001, 10:34 PM
I don't fully understand why the Jedi wouldn't be allowed to marry. Wouldn't it help in carrying on the Jedi lineage? Maybe it's just this point in Star Wars history that disallows it. I'm guessing the Jedi were starting to become too stringent in their ways and try to govern too much, which is why they set themselves up for destruction.

If Anakin was booted out of the Jedi Order, it would only add to his anger and make it easy for Palpatine and the dark side to consume him...

Maybe they give Anakin the rank of Jedi Knight because it's such a time of stress in the Republic, and they feel rushed to fill their ranks. And they think maybe Anakin's gloatful tendencies will be satisfied by a title that is nothing more than honorary, and they think maybe his hatred will work to their advantage. After all, the Jedi Order, in the end, is no more powerful than their weakest Padawan.

Is "gloatful" really a word?

I agree completely with Jedi Tricks, and add to it.

Someone posted more of the script, actual lines from Episode 2's "Harry Potter" trailer [in this forum -check all the latest E2 threads], and in less than a week you will hear it in Padme's own words (and she called long-distance from Coruscant to tell me using all her free minutes on Sith PCS)

The Force is in everything, so natural selection will keep new reproduction from producing the Force sensitive.

However, I think Qui-Gon has a lot of bastard children populating the galaxy, so they're not especially worried about it.

Anyway, saving Obi-Wan's life, or trying to anyway, might be Anakin's last heroic 'Jedi act' and he'll try to leave the order shortly after that, to run away with his new love. Well wouldn't you? (But I'd keep that starfighter...)

11-10-2001, 07:01 AM
Must be why he's not too kind to his wife....or soon to be, I don't think they're married until some part in the movie when a wedding segment happens? I heard that somewhere awhile back...

11-10-2001, 09:56 AM
i knew i'd read something before about the jedi order forbidding relationships, but couldn't remember where i saw it. the force.net has a description of trailer #3 that will play with harry potter. the dialogue of this trailer should clear this confusion about a jedi marrying all up:)
