View Full Version : Yes!!!! 3 Stooges!!!!!!!

There's a vocal group of Jim Carrey fans out there who'd love to see the former comedian ditch his recent trend of serious-minded movies like The Majestic and get back to what made him famous in the first place: making people laugh. The Three Stooges would be a good start, especially considering it may be written and directed by Peter and Bobby Farrelly, who gave us the Carrey classic Dumb & Dumber (which has a non-Carrey prequel hitting theaters soon). Granted, the rumor that the former In Living Color star is considering a part in this modern take on the classic characters is completely unconfirmed, though it's certainly a funny thought. Another completely unreliable rumor has Orange County underwear model Jack Black joining Carrey as either Larry, Moe, or Curly. Who would play the third Stooge? That's anybody's guess.

I love the Stooges. There is no reason for a modern Stooge movie.

I'll use The Little Rascals movie as proof that old serial comedies do not make good new motion pictures.

As long as Jim Carrey and/or Jack Black is in it, I don't care.

Why can Hollywood not be original? Think up your own movie ideas, and quit rehashing everything. This is the total re-hash generation.

No, the fact that the majority of the cast are kids is the downfall of that movie.

Just because there are big name actors in a film doesn't mean will be good....or even should be made in the first place.

But there is more hope for it than a mostly juvenile cast.
Harry Potter is one of the exceptions. Jack Black I would propose to most likely be Curly. Jim Carrey to be Moe. The only problem is that Jim is a bit tall to be Moe. I'm sure they will figure it out. I would like to see either Chris Elliot or Jeff Daniels to be Larry.
Ben Stiller to be Shemp.

This is a horrible idea. The Three Stooges were gods. This sounds about as lame as a classic Three Stooges short where the "three" in question were Shemp, Joe, and Curly Joe. :(

Can anyone explain why Jack Black is funny? He does the same "I'm a dirty slob" character in every movie or appearance. He wore out his schtick long ago, IMO.

He's very clean-cut in 'Shallow Hal.' :)
Sleazy, yes, but physically clean and well-groomed.
In 'The Cable Guy' he's a regular guy just looking for a game of hoops and a Soundgarden concert. :D

Ah. I guess I'm generalizing, I tend to do that. I don't know, I must be strange because I could wact Tom Green or Jackass for hours and laugh, but I can't stand Jack Black for 10 minutes. Maybe its because his name rhymes.
You know who they need for this movie....
Joe Don Baker, Carrot Top, and Treat Williams.

might as well throw in Pauly Shore and a Baldwin to be named later into the movie as well.
James Boba Fettfield

My vote is for Adam Baldwin.

I saw this one today. It wasn't really LOL funny to me, but for some in my theater, it was (plus the running Captain Obvious commentary from the kids behind me  ). Loved the puns and less-obvious sight and word gags, more than the standard Stooges physical stuff. Yes, there's some during-the-credits stuff, too.

They should have made it in 3-D, so you could feel like you're getting poked in the eyes by the Stooges. :)
