View Full Version : A New Captain Typho?

so what do you think. I know the first one was a bit of a pegwarmer (I've seen at least 20 on the pegs at one time), but I really loved his second outfit. I know the first one had more "toy" potential because of the action on the platform and all not to mention it was meant to be a companion figure for the Padme Pilot figure, but they could do his second "security officer" outfit ala Supreme chancellor Palpatine detail. It could also have a removable hat and a gun that could attach to his belt. Just like the first one. I think it would really look cool in my "heading back to Naboo" diorama

I'd buy one!
01-26-2003, 01:38 AM
Tycho, you'd buy one if all they did was switch his eye patch. (Just kidding.:p ) Heck, I'd probably buy one, too.
BTW, welcome to the forums, nova blue. Nice to see another fellow Southerner, besides all those infernal Georgians.;)

thanks twodot tatooine
Hell yeah, I'd love a new Typho. The first one is teriffic, and I'd love to see that transformed into a Naboo Security edition. :)
01-26-2003, 11:40 AM
Sure, I'd take one. He appears a heck of a lot more in that costume than he does in the one we have now.
01-26-2003, 12:12 PM
I'd definately buy a new Typho. I think it's a great idea!
01-26-2003, 12:24 PM
I'd buy it, what are we buying again? I must have one!
01-26-2003, 12:33 PM
Heck where to I mail away for it? Oh wait we would be buying it. I'm down the more the merrier.

Using the head sculpt from the last one and giving him a removable cap would be good but his official duties uniform is far superior to the pilot outfit. Typho and a new Naboo royal security officer in the blue uniform would be really cool in a wave together or as a three pack with a Naboo royal guard rehash. No gimmicks just good solid sculpting and articulation. Typho rocks! Well as far as downplayed characters go he rocks. Still, at least he got lines and actually looked as though he cared what happened to padme unlike his Uncle Pancakes who couldn't have cared less for the Queen in TPM. I digress. I vote a big yes to a decent Typho figure in his second outfit. :)
01-26-2003, 02:44 PM
I might get one too, but I think we all know that it isn't going to happen...
01-26-2003, 07:32 PM
I might go for this if they also made a subtle change to the eye paint, eyebrow paint, and mouth sculpt. I think his face is just so blah, he doesn't need a constipated sculpt but something a little less like he's bored to be in the film.
01-26-2003, 07:43 PM
Yes. I would buy that as it would be a refreshing change. I think that we should get more fringe characters other than Anakins and Jangos.
01-27-2003, 02:05 PM
Judging by the number of Typho's which are STILL hanging from the pegs, we'll probably not see another one of him. I agree with those who'd buy another b/c I sure would. However, the handful of folks who would are by far outweighed by the bucket loads of those who, apparently, won't.
01-27-2003, 02:09 PM
Eh, i'd love to see this one, eventually, hence the word eventually. Give us some figures that have yet to be made first, and THEN kick into another Typho. He wasn't that much of a figure, but he provided the goods. I'd pick one up!! :D
01-27-2003, 02:26 PM
I definitely can't think of another figure that could excite my interest any less than this one. Sorry guys. I just don't want another. (I didn't even buy the first one . . .)
He just wasn't very compelling to me at all.
01-27-2003, 02:39 PM
Ah, c'mon Mark2d2!!! The way he delivered his 8 lines and that crazy eye patch!!! You KNOW You wanna hear the story and sense the danger of how he got that!!! eh???!? eh!?! :D
01-28-2003, 01:51 PM
I wouldn't buy it
know why? because I have the first one which is IMO a perfect resemblance of Typho and is very cool figure, and I don't need another one
sorry to disappoint you guys...
01-28-2003, 10:53 PM
Yeah, but at least 4/5ths of the character's time in the film in the film is spent in a different outfit.

What about a Naboo Accessory Set with Typho? They could use a Panaka body and a Typho head. I believe their costumes are basically the same. All they would need to do is sculpt up the hat. Toss in some Naboo blasters and other accessories, and release it that way. After all, only collectors are really going to want him anyway. :)

Not the same outfit at all and that would be the worst thing to do with typho that i can think of. Typho's costume is so different from the bed blanket turned into a coat costume of Captain Pancakes. Typho's costume is more refined and his tunic is made entirely from leather. he wears some kind of jerkin underneath the tunic that is also made from leather but isn't the same jerkin he wears as a pilot. Typho is cool. How could you not want a figure dressed in a huge leather coat with an eyepatch? Beats the crap out of some stupid EU Sith witch crapola that wasn't even in the movies.

I couldn't agree more emperor Jargo
01-29-2003, 10:56 PM
I'd like to see Typho is his security outfit, but it's not that urgent of a figure. I'd rather see some generic Naboo Pilot figures.
01-29-2003, 11:10 PM
Ah, ok. Thanks Jargo. Like I said above I couldn't recall if he was wearing a uniform like Panaka's or not. I didn't bother to stick the DVD in to check. :)

I definately want the jacket/cap version of him. It's an interesting costume...an edgier version of the Naboo Security look we've seen with those scalloped shoulder pads. Much more interesting visually.
Plus, I'd like to see a new version of Jar Jar (in a more nuetral pose) wearing the same outfit he sports in the pic that Emperor Jargo posted....
01-30-2003, 07:37 AM
Well, how about Padme in that outfit in Jargo's picture? (Senator Outfit)
Or Dorme for that matter?
Anakin needs a cloaked figure whose Jedi robes hang straight down on him - non-action posed.
As to Captain Typho, those shoulder pads give me pause for concern. You'd have to cut through them (mold them onto the separate arm pieces for him) putting a gap in his shoulders to allow the figure free range of motion. If you made it soft plastic and part of his torso piece, he'd be able to bend at the elbows, but not raise his hands higher - almost like the range of motion that Nute Gunray's figure is limited to.
How would you guys want it? Super realistic, or fully articulate as normal figures are expected to be?
01-30-2003, 09:15 AM
Same as they managed for the naboo royal security. He had shoulder pieces that were part of the jerkin but were molded onto the arms. Works fine on him.

thanx for the pic Jargo, I didn't really remember the outfit when I wrote the reply, and the other outfit does look very cool, and I would probably even buy him if they'd release him, but only if he had a somewhat neutral pose
01-30-2003, 09:55 AM
thanks guys for the interesting replies. I just thought it would look really cool, if they ever made any Padmes in senatorial gowns(a stretch I know) think how cool it would look to have Captain Typho in his official security officer's uniform standing next to her, neutrally of course. I know the figure would be mainly used for dioramas, and display scenes and not have much use for "action scenes", but to be honest the pilot version wasn't all that action oriented either.
01-30-2003, 01:11 PM
Typho as a pilot, he stands, he falls, he holds his helmet and his gun, he sits on his tush in a banana yellow escort ship, he acts concerned.
Typho as a head of security in official dress uniform, he stands, he walks, he stands he walks, holds his cap, he holds his gun, he acts concerned.
Frankly, I see this other Typho as only being a possibility if he's in a 'screen scene' with padme Palapatine's office outfit and Dorme. The office outfit is in my opinion the nicest Padme outfit (next to the white tatooine one) and is the only outfit to make Padme look like a mature adult senator. The outfoit she wears in the picture above makes her look like some Austrian Frau and its not that flattering really. Or they could do a screen scene all in a senate box with Padme in her senatorial address outfit with dorme in her purple robe seated and typho seated. It'd be one way to get a senate box and one way to get a new Padme and a Dorme figure out as well as Typho in this cooler outfit.

Thanks for the pic Jargo, that is definitely the better of the 2 costume choices. If Hasbro had re-released the Naboo Fighter for Ep 2, I could understand why we got a pilot version of Typho, but w/out it the pilot figure should have been the one put off until 2004 or later and the regular outfit should have been the main one.
Tycho, of all Padme's outfits in Ep 2, that is probably my least favorite. Also, if we're going to get handmaidens, I hope they'd be recognizable costumes from Ep 1 rather than these bleah ones from Ep 2.
