Heres a shot of the top. It was cut using a 10" table saw. The round tip was cut using a 15" jigsaw.

Here's the plans I drew up, by taking measurments from the Action Fleet pod and x by 3.5

Here's some assembly of the pod. I used a wood rod for the frame and plastic sheeting for the skin. JB Weld is a great glue for the skin

can't wait to see it finished, it looks cool ATM
just keep us updated when you proceed with your work:)
01-28-2003, 07:41 PM
OK, you asked for an update, well here's a few photos. This is the top of the pod with window and small jet cones. There's still tons of detailing to do.
01-28-2003, 07:48 PM
Is starting to look like a POD. I threw it together to show you guys. I cut out the side port windows and finished the rear large jet cones. Like I said, there's still a ton of detailing to be done. well here it is
01-28-2003, 10:32 PM
Wow, that is really coming together nicely. In the next pic of the whole thing like that, could you put 3PO and/or R2 next to it to show scale?
01-30-2003, 10:14 AM
it's really coming along well, can't wait till it's finished, but the form and all looks really great
I'll second that request for the size comparison pic
01-30-2003, 02:05 PM
Looks great... A job steadily looking better! Can't wait to see it finished with 3P0 and R2 there!
02-02-2003, 07:58 PM
GOOD JOB. VERY INTERESTING! :D
02-11-2003, 06:30 PM
Hey guys I put together a web page for my pod. There's a few new shots. Here's the link
02-11-2003, 07:49 PM
Looks great! The details are really coming along now.
02-11-2003, 07:57 PM
Check back tomorrow and I'll have shots of almost all the panel detail. They are drying as I type this. I bought the paint, so It's just a matter of time. I give it another week or 2, or 3 LOL. It's raining now, so the glue and paint doesn't dry very fast, so maybe 4. :(
02-12-2003, 08:41 AM
wow, it's really coming along well, the details look really cool
02-12-2003, 02:26 PM
I updated my web page, check it out. Thanks for all your encouragment Guys!
02-12-2003, 06:32 PM
DAMN, it's looking better each time you update, the detaling is fantastic, really cool
can't wait for the finished pod!:)
02-12-2003, 07:14 PM
Yeah, looks really fantastic, the paint and the added brightness in the room really show off just how cool this piece is now. Is there gonna be an interior to this at all?
02-12-2003, 08:02 PM
No interior, from the get go I had not intended to. Sorry.:D Thanks again guys!
02-12-2003, 09:27 PM
I'll be over to make a mold when you're done. :D
02-14-2003, 08:02 PM
*sniff* you... you're not sorry at all! :(
Wow! That's really fantastic. All this customizing talent is inspiring. Wish I could find the energy to start up again.
02-16-2003, 02:55 PM
Turbo, that's awesome man! Really great work, I wish I had the equipment & skill to do something like that.
Ever think about doing a true 3' figure scale Sandcrawler to go with it? After seeing your work on the pod, I'm sure you could pull it off!
02-16-2003, 03:03 PM
Yeah I have thought of it, but if you think about it, it would be HUGE. I have seen one and it was something like 4 feet high and 6 feet long. There's really no place to put it. Though it would be awesome to have. Hey thanks for the compliment. I have started to do some detail on the Jet cones, with the fuel lines. It's almost read for paint.

Haha, that's a side of JT I'm not really used to seeing... :D The pod looks great, better than Hasbro could do. Hasbro would add guns and firing missiles and God knows what else... Keep up the great work! :)

I think a look like this- :dead: -is a little more accurate. :D
02-26-2003, 10:50 PM
Drum roll please, well guys the wait is over. Here's some photos of my COMPLETED Escape Pod. Click on the link below and check out the photos on page 2. LMK what you guys think. Thanks
02-27-2003, 07:47 AM
very cool, I love the detailing, very realistic
but is the white really that "bright" in the movie?
still very nice work:)
now make a diorama for it...:D
02-27-2003, 01:14 PM
I don't think you really see the white in the movie. Remember this hasn't been weathered yet.
02-28-2003, 05:24 PM
Pretty cool, but still no shots of a 3PO & R2 figure near it? :D
02-28-2003, 09:40 PM
OK OK OK OK OK OK OK Damn IT!!!!!! Here's 2 more photos. One has R2 and 3PO and the other has a stowaway that was never seen in the film. I hope you are happy;) Click on the link below and go to the bottom of the page 2.

Wow. Nifty indeed. This furthers my resolve that Hasbro has got to make one of these! It's such a great ship! And this is an even greater custom! I'm totally blown away. . . Go TURBO!

http://community.webtv.net/TURBOWARS/TurbosCustomStar So first I have to scroll to the bottom of page 1 and then to the bottom of page 2?!? What do I look like, a scrolling and clicking machine!?! :D j/k, very cool. R2 and 3PO alone is an incredible pic, reminds me of the AF battle pack you based this on. Ephant kinda dwarfs the pod though... well, not exactly, it's just that Ephant is so big that the pod looks small even though it's not; you may as well have put a Batman figure in the shot too ;). Anyway, great work indeed, and it really looks like a killer toy... too bad Hasbro won't put out something like this because it's not exciting enough or some equally-lame excuse.
03-05-2003, 06:50 PM
Thanks JT!. No Hasbro will never do this one. If they did I'd be mad, because I bothered with this one. Just like I hope Hasbro does not make the full size Gunship turrets, I bothered to do those to.
03-05-2003, 11:18 PM
Yeah, but yours was made with personal care and effort that Hasbro's will never be able to match. Plus, if they do come out with one, you can sell yours on ebay before it reaches US shores. :D ;)
