Yesterday, I was emailed information from a LucasFilm source that Celebration 3 is definetly in the works.

Where would you like it held ?

1. West Coast (where? Why?)
2. Mid-US (where? Why?)
3. East Coast (where? Why?)
4. Who cares ?

I'll post more details as I get them.
Thanks

I am banking that it will be held in Indianapolis once again. It seemed that everyone that went, fans and otherwise, felt it was well done. It is a somewhat central location, and while I would love it to be on the East coast. . . I think that it is only fair that they plan it for a central location.

I heard rumors that they had already contacted the Celebration II site, etc., and told them not to schedule anything for that week in 2005, soon after Celebration II ended. Who knows. . . all I know is that being this will be the last one (Episode III will be the last theatrical release). . . I'm going regardless of location. I missed I, and II. . . I won't be missing this one.

Oh yeah. . . and I couldn't get your link to work.;)

I do not knwo what is wrong with SSG but if you click the link then hit refresh on the page that opens, the image opens. SSG must have a problem.

It's not SSG, it's the server the image is hosted on. Like Geocities and many other hosts these days, servers are disallowing direct links to images, sounds, and other non-HTML items.

I have a feeling that now that the Fan Club is in the hands of another company, we'll be seeing Cel 3 in Washington state.

Ah. . . good point JediTricks. . . it had slipped my mind that the Fan Club is now in new hands.

That would be unfortunate if it was on either coast, I think. That would make it much harder for everyone who may want to go. A central location would be ideal. Unfortunatly, with my luck, it will be on the west coast, and the chances of me going will then be extremely slim.

Unless they did two. . . one on each coast. . . but that would be asking too much, and would never happen.

which again brings us back to a traveling show. They should tour major cities across the country. San Fran, L.A, Dallas, Houston, Jacksonville, Tampa, Orlando, Atlanta, NY, etc...like a 28 city tour to honor the 28 year anniversary (in 2005)

A travelling show might be a bit much. It is supposed to be a grand event. If they have a 'bunch' of them, they won't get great guests and special events for all of them. It will turn out to be a group of similar named, but greatly different shows. If they have two (maybe a third centrally located), they can spread them out enough that they can get the same great guests, and fans can feasibly attend more than one of the events.

This is all speculation though. . . Celebration III hasn't really been confirmed (though it is almost a given). . . and there will likely only be one.

not 'offically' confirmed though Steve Sansweet was the one who emailed me that it was in the works.

I actually went to Celebration II, and found its layout to be pretty LAME actually. Sorry to say it, but the security was terrible, especially right after the 9/11 incident, the distribution of the Jorg Sacul fig was hideous, and overall I expected something better.

There were many who stood in line for HOURS, that made the trek just for the figure, and were turned away with nothing. Next thing you know, cases of them appear on eBay- And I thought the Sith were fictional characters..

Not that my opinion means anything, but what if any Celebration II Exclusives were made only available with the purchase of the ticket, at the time the ticket purchase was made? Taking it one step further, a ticket holder could only purchase one type of exclusive per ticket they pay for. In practical terms, this means that, say, when I go to pre-purchase my Celebration III ticket, at that time I have to decide which exclusives I want and pay for them then. The merchandise is then shipped to me with the ticket. Then the exclusive remains just that...an exclusive to the event and each ticket holder gets just one of each per ticket they pay for. Of course, someone can buy multiple tickets and then multiple exclusives and try to make up the cost on ebay later, but it seems that fewer opportunists would take that road as the upfront cost (with the unused ticket) would get pretty hefty.

I didn't go to CII, but friends that did attend explained later that they missed many "events" because they had to stand in extremely long lines for hours at a time just for the chance that the Jorge Sacul might be available. Kinda takes the fun out of the experience.

Lets not start the CII bashing again. It's been a year already, get over it :D.

I think if it was in Indy again it would be good. Hope they open the football stadium for the concert and autograph signing. That would make good sense and the lines a lot more bareable.

Perhaps CIII would be in Chicago. It's just as centralized as Indy and is known for holding large conventions.

I doubt that it would be on either cost. I mean 70,000+ came to CII wich outnumber CI by a lot. So, I think a central location is good for everyone. If you have it on the east coast all the west coast people are screwed and vise versa. So, there is no reason why anyone would think to have it on either coast.

Plus, it shouldn't and wouldn't be on the west coast. I mean all those fanboys that close to Skywalker Ranch. There would be a mob storming the ranch. They'd have to get the Stormtroopers out in full riot gere to keep them out :D.

I've got an idea for CIII. Keep it in a centralized location, but also add an internet component to it for those who can't make it. For some very miniscule fee, like a buck or two, contestants at home could log in to the CIII site and view a variety of live webcams of the event as well as live streaming of the various presentations. Naturally, it's better to be there in order to get the merchandise and get up close to the stars and such, but the web tie-in would undoubtedly attract a lot of users.

101 North to Lucas Valley Road exit. Turn left. Go down that road for approximately 10 to 15 minutes (caution: wind-y road). Soon, you will see a fence on the right side against a wooded area. The first break in the fence where there is a driveway is the entrance to the property. If you reach Nicasio, you've gone too far.

Of course there is no admittance to the property without a proper escort etc etc etc. But you can see the address sign and a little bit of the front guard shack.

Unless somebody really has a jones to see, well, nothing, you'll get a better view of the ranch in that book called, George Lucas: The Creative Impulse. :)

How about Kansas you can't get more "centralized" than that... It's the middle of the USA!

I didn't go to C2 or even C1 for that matter but I think Indy is a great location for that type of event. Chicago might be a bit more accessable for travel but it would be a bit too big and costly to host the event there. The size of Indy I think is a better fit to this event. I hope it hosts C3.

Indy was great, and an easy 3 hour drive... but if they have it in say... ST LOUIS! then Id be able to spend the entire weekend there..

Indy is one of the top contenders to host C3. That's according to everything I've read. The big reason is space availability. The convention center was available for the May 2005 weekend, and Wizards went ahead and reserved it for '05.

A decision is supposed to be made sometime this summer about the location. Since I'm less than 2 hours away, I'm kinda partial to Indy.

The Indy Jedi Knights had a survey up on its website seeking comments about C2. You might want to take it.

Celebration II was awesome! Too bad it can't be in Denver again though, I live not too far from there. They're working on remodeling the Denver convention center, I wish they'd hold it there. But Indy is also a good choice.
I didn't see anyone from here at CII. Maybe next time there can be a different kind of thing (instead of a homemade badge) for us to identify each other with . . . maybe a template for an iron-on t-shirt? Hmm . . .

The best way that I can think of dealing with the exclusives issue is simple. When purchasing a ticket, include two detatchable tabs for the two figure limit. Once the tabs on the ticket are gone, it's done. The other option would be for people to fill out a form and drop it off at a number of locations throughout the convention. Once this is dropped off, it is then sent to the exclusive area and the orders are filled. You then are charged at time of pickup. You can even schedule pick up times. At numerous locations. 1-100 on East side 101-200 on West side, etc......If they are out of items, you are then not charged for them at time of pick up.

I loved Indy! Even though I live in Chicago, it's a great town and was wonderful to go there. If you can afford it, eat at St. Elmo's. The steak was incredible and the shrimp coctail is the hottest mutha I have ever had from the horseradish.

I hope its somewhere in the Midwest, preferably Chicago, being I live an hour away from there. But if not, thats ok too.

I really want to go to Celebration III. I missed the first two, and was never able to get a Jorg Sacul figure. So hopefully I will be able to attend C3. :)

Just in the last two weeks I read on another SW site that the location decision for C3 is supposed to be made and announced by the end of the month. That's good.

Two friends and I attended Gen Con in Indy on July 26, and it was better organized and ran than C2. Although we waited in line more than an hour for our tickets (we didn't pre-purchase because we weren't sure we were definitely going) the line moved quickly. And there were several little things like coolers of ice water set up in the hallway that made a difference.

Whoever's gonna operate C3 might want to get in contact with the Gen Con folks and get some tips.

I am making plans to go to C3...! I hope they pick a good location that isn't going to cost an arm, a leg and five months of collecting!!
