View Full Version : Imperial Forces 4-Pack Packaged Test Shot!!

It looks like some changes have occured, since we saw the first samples of the Imperial Forces 4-Pack. The Vader appears to still be a Emperor's Wrath version, but is now solid black. He looks good, and I can't wait for these sets to come out. If I recall correctly, they are planned as TRU Exclusives. It's test packaged in the box for the "Ultimate Bounty" 4-pack. The pictures are from American Dream Comics.

Here's the back of the packaged test shot, showing the "Ultimate Bounty" 4-pack. Still think it looks pretty good, and people that missed the somewhat HTF 300th Fett should be happy. It's still a shame they didn't include Zuckess, instead of the more recent IG-88 figure. But it's still a nice set. :)

Yeah, I'm gonna hate paying for all that when all I really need is the AT-ST driver and that funky looking swoop.

What is the suggested retail price for these? They look great, especially since I never got the 300th Fett, IG-88 or the Emperor's Wrath Vader.

Both of those sets look great! I'm glad they decided to paint Vader all black, he looks very cool now. The stormtrooper, a sandtrooper without muck or a shoulder pauldron or backpack, looks nice as well. As does the new AT-ST Driver, now I need an AT-ST for him.:D The droid is very cool. The cannon was an odd choice seeing as how we're getting one with the new snowtrooper and already have one anyway. Still cool, though. The interrogator droid is stupid, if they needed to put one out, they should have used the original that came with COMMTech Vader. It seems odd that they are using an old-style saber with Vader, with no flare. But where is the stormtrooper's gun??? We have a rack, but no gun.
The bounty hunter one is blah. OK figs, but I have them already. The IG-88 is good, because like it says, there were five droids like him. I'm not sure, but Bossk's yellow looks darker. Could be the light, though. Aurra's bike is COOL AS HELL!!!!!!! That makes the whole set kind of worth it. I'll be getting both sets.:)

The AT-ST Driver is kick arse. Nice to see that a rehash could be so good. We've been needing a better version of him for a while. I never really liked the incorrect beefy POTF2 version. I dug up the old thread and here's a link to the image of the original test figures.

http://www.sirstevesguide.com/forums/attachment.php?s=&postid=186820

The Vader appears to be the only major change to the set. They did change to the big gunrack from the Commtech Stormtrooper, from the little white one from the Target Accessory Sets. I don't see the 3 blasters in the package anywhere, I hope they are just under the name flap. :)

I still think that Driver's face looks REALLY fake.

And that swoop bike is awesome. The skull on the front is a great touch.

Oh no! Not another exclusive! It looks great, but I won't get my hopes up that I'll actually be able to find one in a TRU.

Beast

TRU's exclusives have been fairly easy to find. Thankfully they seem to know enough to stock plenty. I've seen plenty of all their recent exclusives. And being that most of the figures are reissues, repaints, and rehashes, they shouldn't be that difficult to acquire. Knock wood. :)

Knocking on wood as I type......

I'll wind up getting these as well, and I too want to voice the hope that they're EASY TO FIND. EASY EASY EASY TO FIND!!!!!!!

And not too, too expensive.

Theres some neat figures in here, the Emperor's Wrath Vader looks good with that repaint, and it's nice to see the new AT-ST pilot no so beefy. The swoop bike also looks really cool, too bad you have to get a set that most people already have the figures for. But then again for those who don't, there is 3 figures in that pack that are pretty good :)

Toys R Us exclusives are easier to find, it's usually the target ones I have trouble with. Speaking of which i'm still after a Target Exclusive Tatooine Skiff. Anyone out there have a good deal on one ;)

Love the pictures. Looks like I'm gonna get both for sure.

Imperials: Nice solid EW Vader will be an excellent addition to my collection of Vaders. That Stormtrooper, nobody can ever have enough, so glad it's there. AT-ST Driver, it does look a lot better because of the Officer sculpt. That R4 looks AMAZING. It goes well with the Vader and the Interrogation droid. Was that R4 in the trilogy?

Bounty: Cool set but not thrilling. I could use that Boba loose, as it is "the" best figure ever. Aurra Sing and IG are figs I already have. The bike looks nice, wouldn't mind owning one. Bossk I do need, and it looks nice. I wonder if the sculpt is different than the POTF2 one.

I still want to see resculpts of 4-LOM and Dengar. And Zuckuss, I don't mind if they don't re-issue him, because I FINALLY GOT ONE. :D

I WILL buy the Imperial set!!! Love that R4 droid. Will buy the set for him, if nothing else.

I WILL NOT buy the Bounty Hunters, since I already have all those figures (plus an extra Bossk). Nice figs all, just not what I need.

I, too, hope these Sets start a trend! I like 'em much better than those Target Accessory Sets, which never enticed money out of my wallet.

Now, how about a Rebel Astromech Droid Set?:)

Beast
03-02-2003, 08:43 PM
Well, the original early retailer lists had additional sets listed. "Rescue on Hoth" and "Rebel Allience". There was also one listed as "Jedi Hunters", but that's assumed to have been the early name for the "Ultimate Bounty" 4-Pack. :)

Beast
03-02-2003, 09:39 PM
No release date yet, but most likely late summer/early fall. Usually when most exclusives start hitting. Oh, and in regards to price, they should be less then $20.00. When the original pictures of these showed up, GH had the following info. :)

Diamond UK lists this set with a price of £27.99, so we're guessing a price of $20 here in the U.S. With the army building potential of 3 out of the 4 figures, it's a safe bet that the new Imperial Forces Figure Set will be a hit!

I won't get the Bounty Hunter set becasue I already have the Boba Fett and Boosk, have the POTF2 IG-88 and don't want/need Aurra Sing, but the Swoop Bike looks very cool
I don't know about the Imperial Forces Set, I really like the Vader repaint and the Stromtrooper is nice too, but I don't really need the AT-ST driver or the Gun (the mouse droid is a cool addition to any diorama IMO) and the R4(?) unit looks nice too but I don't really need him either, so I guess the price will decide if I get this set

BTW is that a clear stand on he lower right in the packaging?

I'm glad to see they updated the Vader.
The AT-ST driver is awesome! He makes he set IMO, plus him being a troop builder type, it's nice to get a few more.
The stormtrooper is unique, and looks good.
The droid is interesting, more droids are always welcome (that's why I love the Star Tours line) Does anyone here have a movie shot with this droid in?

Don't know about a movie shot, but I think this droid is called R4-I9. (http://RED6.TK)
I think it's mentioned on the fact-file leaflet for the R2-Q5 figure, but if I remember rightly the colour-schemes don't quite match.

It looks like the AT-ST driver is just the Tantive IV rebel troopers head on an Imperial officers body with an AT-ST drivers helmet and a little paint. I really like the droid though. What I don't understand is the choice of accessories. There is no real theme to it all (other than the fact that the bad guys used it in the original trilogy.) I think Hasbro is just trying to see if we'll buy any random things they package and put in front of us. I'm ashamed to admit it, but I probably will.

Beast
03-03-2003, 04:57 PM
Well, basically that's what the costumes were. They took the Imperial jumpsuits and had them made in grey instead of black. Slapped on a pair of gloves and a helmet with some goggles. So no big deal if it's a hasbro rehash in this case. It's still better then the buffed AT-ST Driver from POTF2. :)

As for the accessory choices, I don't see anything wrong with what they picked. They did have limited choices, and it's basic Imperial gear. They should have included the smaller IT-O droid from the Commtech Vader though. The Mouse Droid appears in all 3 of the OT movies, so no problem there. And while we only see SnowTroopers use the cannon in the movies, it is basic Imperial Gear. :)

I think it's a reissue. It doesn't look like they really retooled Bossk.

Wow these are great and I plan on getting both. :)

I too would have loved to see Zuckuss in the Bounty Hunter pack instead of IG-88 or even Bossk for that matter. Aurra's Swoop Bike is way cool though, to bad she won't be able to sit on it.

I love the Imperial R4 droid, he will look great next to R2-Q5. Vader looks great all black and the new AT-ST Driver is a welcome addition too. The only thing thats weak IMO are the accessories. I can't see finding a use for any of it.

Overall I'm very impressed :)

You know there is a big difference, like those are retail sets, and they're not in a box, they're on a card. ;) You always gotta bring up that old argument everywhere we go. :D

Anyways, I hope these aren't too hard to get, TRU might be unsure about ordering too many due to Target's accessory sets moving slowly. I hope we see a loose version soon so we can find out if they do have blasters, cause either the Stormie or AT-ST Driver are gonna be twiddling their thumbs while the other plays with the E-Web cannon. That's why Big Bad Vader Daddy's there, so he can be sure they share! :D

The R4 droid is the wrong color. When i customised my R4-M9 I discovered after searching everywhere to see if i was right that the actual movie droid is a sort of dark blue gray not black. It doesn't really matter because the black looks cool anyway but technically yes, the droid is wrong.

The AT-ST driver does look better than the first shot we saw. The stormtrooper is cool too. Vader without the see through bits could be funky as it's a decent vader sculpt without his cloak bilowing around too much. I'm definately going to try to get the Imperial set and depending on the actual cost of the sets i might go for the bounty hunters just to get the swoop. I can use two of the figures for customising and when you consider that the set won't retail for that much more than a single figure with swoop it's not going to be too bad a deal if you have to dump a couple of the figures. I'll use IG-88 as IG-72 and Bossk will be useful for making a Hr'chek Kal Fas figure for my cantina. Or at least his head and hands will. Aurra Sing will be going in the trash though and Fett i'll just give away to my nephew.

Not doing too bad with the multipacks this year. Bring 'em all on and more. Makes life much easier. I'm a lazy shopper and adding one item to my cart is so much easier than adding lots of single carded stuff. I'd be happy if they released a whole wave boxed up together like this so there was no hunting down the individual pieces. No, actually I don't I'd end up buying a ton of unwanted resculpts that way. However, the army builder sets and multipacks are an excellent idea. one of the few that hasbro has actually pleased me with.

Galactic Hunter showed loose pictures of the Imperial Forces 4-Pack. There are blasters in the pack, they were hidden beneath the flap at the front of the box. 2 POTJ Imperial Blasters and 2 Imperial Long Rifles. The set looks great. They also broke the word about the 3rd "Rescue on Hoth" Set. Can't wait to get all three of these. :)

The Imperial Forces and Ultimate Bounty sets are planned as Toys R Us store exclusives later this year. The pricepoint is not known at this time, although our best guess places it around $25. A third set, Rescue On Hoth, is also planned, with re-issued figures of POTF2 Luke Skywalker Tauntaun , POTF2 Hoth Leia, Hoth Chewbacca (the Saga Cloud City version with snow deco), an orange and white R3 droid with clear dome, and of course, a POTF2 Tauntaun.
It's nice to see a re-issue of the Luke that can ride the Tauntaun, since so many people had trouble getting the Luke and Han w/ Tauntaun. Leia: Hoth is a nice figure to re-issue as well, though I wish the scale was a bit more accurate. Very cool to see Cloud City Chewie with snow deco. That way we get a accuratly scaled Hoth Chewie, without having to get another Chewie carded. And the inclusion of one of the often requested R3 droids from Hoth is sweet. Plus a cheap way to get a POTF2 Tauntaun. :)

Here's a good picture of R3-A2, which appears to be the one that is planned for the set. Since they said orange and white, and this is the only R3 Unit in the Hoth Base that features those colors. So far it seems that the Imperial Forces and Rescue on Hoth Sets are the two best, since they actually feature signifigant retoolings. :)

It looks like a nice set. This was my custom wot I started back when R3-T7 first hit the pegs. I never got around to finishing him so this is just the first coat but it gives an idea of how the thing will look as hasbro do it. I'm thinking that if this is true and we'll get a Hasbro version I'll use this one and make it red instead so i can use it in the rebel briefing room. Just like the one in ROTJ, crimson/maroon red and white, clear dome. Sat alongside the white with red markings R5 droid. :)

JarJar Binks --- think maybe they'll "kitbash" the Leia?

Seriously, all they'd have to do is:

1) a head swap on Bespin Escape Leia
2) some minor retooling on the legs (add some boots)
3) rework the vest to fit better

Not saying this WILL happen. But after looking at the fairly extensive work they did on the Imperials --- it's not completely out of the question.

I'll definitely get this Hoth set as I never got a Tauntaun and you all know how much I love astromechs! I can't wait for both this and the Imperial set.

Totally wicked cool. Way to go, Hasbro. Way to go. :D

Hmmm Better be Han's tauntaun. I'm sure this is what it will be and if not then hasbro will have screwed up. The Luke and tauntaun set is not that hard to come by really, What people want is a tauntaun for Fan with the Han figure straddling it. I realise that this upcoming Han is supposed to be a side order for this upcoming Tauntaun release but the upcoming han is poo. There was nothing wrong with the one from the tauntaun and all he needed was ball hip joints and he would have been great.

Chewbacca bespin with dandruff doesn't really appeal to me. Neither do re-releases of Luke Hoth and Leia Hoth. Both figures were not that good first time round. I just want to know when we'll get a dead tauntaun with real feel squishy guts? Y'know all squishy like the Acklay guts? yeah like that but on a dead tauntaun with split apart belly. Push the tauntaun side and pop out the guts. Pull the guts to one side and shove luke in there. Packed with a snowy base and a survival tent for Han already erected. It would be better if they just exchanged the Luke figure for a Hoth rebel in the tan vest and exchanged Leia for a Toryn Farr with headset. Exchange Chewie for a snowspeeder pilot with removable helmet, maybe a proper Dack Ralter or Zev Senesca or Wes Janson or Hobbie Klivvian. I can think of many more interesting ways to market these things than this set sounds. Even with rehashing it would be so easy to make the set much more interesting and with new characters. as it is it just sounds dull to me.

I like the looks of the Imperial set and I'll buy the bounty hunter set only for the speeder but this Hoth set... I don't know. I guess i'll take a gander at the pics when they show but i can't see it being terribly fantastic.

Jerjerrod
03-21-2003, 12:15 AM
I agree with Jargo. The Hoth set suggests how lazy Hasbro is to give us resculpted figures. Hoth Luke sucked the first time around. Hoth Leia wasn't that bad, but anyone who wanted it must have picked it up already, since its going for like $2-$3 on ebay. Besides, I rather have a Rieeken in there instead. Snow Chewie? Ugh! The most suitable Chewie already got made in POTJ (Mechanic), which looks IMO better than any other Chewies including Saga Chewie. The Astromech is the only one I'll want.

The Bounty set is also a waste of time, as I now have all the figures in it. So, to pay that much for a Speeder, that's crazy.

The Imperial set is GREAT!!! I love that Vader in solid black. The AT-ST driver looks better than I thought, The droid is gonna be one of my favorite droids ever, I just know it. Finally the Stormie, looks awesome. At first, I thought it was a clean rehash of the POTJ Sandtrooper, but if you look closer, it's a combination of both the Sandtrooper and the CTC Stormie! The lower body is from the CTC, which the knees can bend. I can't wait to get this set.

If the Bounty Hunter set had Fett painted in ROTJ colors as a C2 version of Carkoon Fett, that would've been sweet and it'd be a great seller, but alas.

The Hoth set I would rather come with the Han from the Tauntaun, we could use a new Hoth Luke basic figure anyways. Plus the Han could be used as a C2 version of Hoth Han so people who don't want the gimmickized versions can have one to get. We basically got a Hoth Luke in the Hoth accessory pack, just with a goatee and older. ;)

I'm hoping this set is more like $20 or $15, cause if you think about it theres not a whole lot of new stuff going into these sets.

Hey Jargo if you need to find quality stands you should try realstands.com. They're kinda expensive if you only buy a few but they have good bulk discounts and do trade figures for stands at a very generous ratio. I ended up getting 240 stands for 3 new figures. I didn't like the commtech chip stands either and I needed something that was flat, clear and didn't detract attention from the figure. These fit the bill and I am extremely happy with them so I thought I'd recommend them. :)

Jargo
03-22-2003, 01:48 PM
Thanks :) I've seen the realstands at a couple of places here in the UK but they do end up being really pricey for what they are. Although with them being crystal clear I guess they look better than those clouded plastic ones Hasbro is making from the cheaper end of the plastic spectrum. Polythene plastics. Not a nice look but at least the Hasbro ones are oval and will accommodate the funky disco dancing poses figures.
I'd prefer the realstand ones but like I say they end up being a bit too pricey, so for me the better option would be cheaper plastic ones in bulk. If I buy this set it might inspire me to take a mold of the stand and do some resin casting. Make my own bulk.

But thanks for the info anyway Hellboy. ;)
