View Full Version : What is your favorite Sitcom or Comedy Show?

03-28-2003, 08:08 AM
With all the depressing War stuff on TV, I find myself seeking out some comedies for comic relief from reality. So what is, or was, your favorite sitcom?

I still think Seinfield is my all time favorite. I can tune into it and laugh every time, and Iíve seen them all a million times. Every time I watch it Iím like ďCool, this is a good episodeĒ, Well they are all good. I donít think Iíve ever said, ďAwe, this episode isnít that greatĒ (Note!- Iíve never seen the final episode again on re-runs). Itís a show that can cheer you up anytime.

After that would have to be the Simpsons (if thatís considered a sitcom). I canít believe they have had 300 episodes already. I can still remember when they were on the Tracy Ulman show, and I bet many of younger BBF members cannot remember a time when Simpsons was not on the air. Some of you might not have even been born when it started! Crap, now I feel old and am more depressed when I started this threadÖ

Seinfeld is definietly my favorite sitcom, hands down.

I do watch The Simpsons every night before Seinfeld, and finish my night with a few episodes of The Cosby Show. I always enjoyed Bill Cosby.

The Simpsons. The only show I go out of my way to watch.

03-28-2003, 11:42 AM
Seems to be the same story with me too.

Will & Grace
King of the Hill
South Park

I love all of these in that order. My local net works run some of the re-runs twice a day. So, that is pretty cool!

1. M*A*S*H - I'm watching it now :D

I don't know why, but that show really just takes me "away" I like the mix of seriousness, flirting and comedy! That show is a true classic

2. Simpsons - no need to mention why, I'm sure we all know!

3. Roseanne - although I don't particularly agree with all she's done in real life, her show was pure comic genius!

Go Pendo! Boyz from the Dwarf! I never tire watching that show.

I gotta go with:

Simpsons-must see TV...for me.

South Park- I love the extra episodes they are playing at 930 on Tues-Thurs.

Futurama-11pm, Adult Swim

King of the Hill-anything dealing with Bobby or Cotton especially.

I've started catching The RED GREEN Show on PBS lately. Kinda like Home Improvment, without the sappy lessons learned at the end of each show.

Seinfeld is the best.

Really like Scrubs.

R.I.P. Phil Hartman - NewsRadio was hilarious.

Hmmm... "The Simpsons" and "Will & Grace"

04-22-2003, 02:42 PM
Seinfeld, Cheers, SCTV, early 90's reruns of SNL.

Sitcoms suck these days. Or maybe I'm just getting old :(

They do suck for the most part. Ithink people try to hard when writing them.

Married with Children is my alltime favorite.

I used to try to reserve time to watch a few sitcoms that I enjoyed like Seinfeld, Friends, NewsRadio, and The Simpsons. Now there really isn't any sitcom that I look forward to watching outside of reruns of Seinfeld and the older Simpsons.

The only one that's still in production that I like to watch (and I'm not even 100% sure new ones are being made) is Whose Line is it Anyway. A lot of people rag on him but I really like that Wayne Brady. He has real talent.

I loved Ed. I hope it gets renewed. It takes me back to my small hometown and the coziness of it.

That 70's show.
Third Watch (nothing like watching your job and mocking it!)

I liked Wayne Brady's variety show that only lasted a few weeks.

Isn't that show still on? Every day they play ads for it on Dish.

04-22-2003, 06:13 PM
The show I'm talking about was on about a year ago and only lasted about two months, I think. It was a primetime variety show. It was called The Wayne Brady Show which is what his current talk show is called, I beleive.

Doesnt anyone watch Malcolm in the Middle??????? I really like the new show on Fox sunday night called Oliver Bean. For anyone who hasnt checked it out it reminds me of a naughty version of Wonder Years. I watch the simpsons and 24 also....so my list goes:

Oliver Bean
The Simpsons
Malcolm in the MIddle

05-12-2003, 08:08 AM
I pretty much can't stand Oliver Been, I have no real reason why, just can't. Malcom used to be a really good show, but it's lost intrest for me now. For the most part Sitcoms are lousey right now, but there are a few with promise. FOX always has sitcoms I'm interested in, but as soon as I start watching- they cancel them like everthing else on FOX. I wouldn't be surprised if FOX only aired Simpsons, Malcom n the Middle, and American Idol every day.. Oh wait, they almost do already.

Malcolm in the MIddle (On Fox)
AFV (On ABC Or ABC family)
That 70's show (On Fox & WB)
M.A.S.H (On FX)
Who's line is it aways (On ABC Family)

I've been watching those My Wife & Kids and George Lopez shows too. There's just nothing on at 8pm on Wednesday nights, so I usually find them while I am eating my dinner.

Grounded for Life - This is going to be my wife and I when we have kids

The Loop - The last job I had was similiar to that show

Generally I watch tv only on the weekend (I'm not counting a movie as tv) and when I do its usually something on the: History Channel, Discovery or Food Network. Iron Chef America is the only show that I plan on watching in advance.

Nice. It's Dick Cheney's favorite, too, you know.

03-27-2006, 09:47 PM
I really don't watch sitcoms. I do like SouthPark and Robot chicken, but I mostly watch Forensic Files, 48 hour mysteries, Cold case files and things like that. If Lost is not a rerun I'll go with that.

05-18-2006, 09:38 PM
If I had to pick one, it would be Seinfeld.

Phantom-like Menace
05-19-2006, 05:30 AM
M.A.S.H. is my pick. That show is never going to get old. I've watched each episode over and over, and the only reason I can't quote them is eleven years equalled a lot of episodes. I don't think there is an episode of that series that I dislike or wouldn't watch if it came on right now.

05-20-2006, 01:43 AM
Hands down Seinfeld

05-20-2006, 01:47 AM
I will never understand why Seinfeld was ever popular. The guys not even funny. The shows about nothing, but then again most of these shows are about nothing. I'd like to kick the crap out of that short sawed off guy.

05-20-2006, 02:14 PM
I've had quite a few in my time that I've loved.

All in the Family reruns on TV Land

Diff'rent Strokes reruns when they used to be on Nick at Nite

SNL-from the '90s and any episodes where Christopher Walken hosts (I've got a disease and the only prescription is more cowbell :D)

MAD TV-the later episodes

The Simpsons-up until the writing got shoddy around the 50th season. I hope the movie brings it back to the golden age of the early years

Futurama-a funny show, my favorite is the Roswell episode

Family Guy-has surpassed the Simpsons as my favorite cartoon in its sheer hilarity and inside jokes

South Park-there have been some great episodes, but this season has been kind of crappy, especially that one with Towelie and Oprah. That one was awful. All that they do now is poke fun at current events. There needs to be more originality

Robot Chicken-Genius

Aqua Teen Hunger Force-You can either love it or hate it, but I love it.

My Name is Earl-You gotta love Jason Lee. And this is a pretty original show

And my current favorite....

The Office-the US version. I'm a Steve Carrell fan and not one episode has gone by where I haven't laughed like a maniac. I love everyone on that show and I hope it stays for a while.

I couldn't agree more.

Another show that deserves a more that worthy mention would be Freaks and Geeks. Carlos the Dwarf... excellent stuff!

I've been watching Dinosaurs on DVD the past few days. It's a bit dated, but holds up better than most other shows from that time. Very funny stuff.

05-29-2006, 10:03 PM
I used to watch Dinosaurs back in the day when it was on tv. From what I remember, it wasn't all that bad. Now that the dvd set is out, that is one I need to revisit. Good to hear you are enjoying it Chux and thanks for the reminder.
