It's confirmed! The game is in the works.
It will sport large-scale battles. For the first time, you won't play as Kyle Katarn, but rather a generic Jedi of your own choosing. And even better, it's coming out this fall!
www.jediknightii.net has the full story. You can see the screens here. http://www.lucasforums.com/showthread.php?threadid=95808 Some are a little small, but... :p
Regardless, it's great news! :D

I think they're right, it's definitely appearing to be a hoax. One of the levels shown is definitely the same exact Bespin level from JO, while it could just be a rehash of the level, it's doubtful. It's the room in which you run into from the Cloud City high-ledges and about 2 Rodians come running around the corner. After you killed them the two grey panels go into the wall and you can see Bespin Security Officers arresting some thugs and one of them actually closes the window again.
From those screens it looks like it has nothing to do with Kyle, which is very highly doubtful. Obi-Wan was originally supposed to be Jedi Knight II, but that was fortunately changed when they seriously messed up in production. I just doubt they'd make a Dark Forces sequel without Kyle, because the Dark Forces Saga is about Kyle Katarn. Unlike they said on that board, the Mysteries of the Sith JK expansion was about Kyle Katarn as well, and it expanded on his fight with the dark side. Just instead of playing fully as Kyle, you played the rest of the game after a certain point as Mara Jade. (Jan Ors isn't in MotS)

Heh. Nice to see some other people here visit my stomping grounds. :D Any of you guys registered at LucasForums (http://www.lucasforum.com)?
It indeed may just be an April Fools joke. :( Look Here (http://www.gamestar.de/reklawyks/secret-jk3/). If it's not, this was pretty bad timing for a mag to break a story like this. :D

Actually, you're right, it is in fact the same Bespin level. The last 3 shots shown were comparison shots of the last game with the new game. You can even see a Reborn in one of the comparison shots. :)
The game is real -- they already mentioned in PC Gamer that one of the Lucasarts reps admitted to its existence during a press conference. And in this game you play as one of several generic Jedi of your choosing -- one of Kyle's students. After all, a big complaint with JK2 was that people were sick of playing as Kyle. :p

Very good news, guys. (I think ;))
A raven employee just popped up today at LucasForums and started answering some questions. He hasn't been around since JO came out. This surely supports that the game is not a hoax. :)

are they going to improve the lightsaber combat? that is my biggest complaint about jedi knight 2, which was other wise an awesome game. so far, video game lightsabers are really just glowing clubs.
i'd like to see a game that had real saber battles. in which you have to actualy block your opponents blade, or you loose your life or a limb just with one missed block. i know it would make for some short saber fights and may make the game more difficult, but that's my wish.:)

You can easily do that in JO using a few console commands. ALlyou have to do is turn on the Saber realistic combat then you'll get blocks, one hit kills and severed everything. :)
I'll try and find the exact console commands for you.

Using the dismemberment cheats in conjunction with the 1-Hit-Kill mod -- which has been out for some time, and causes all characters to die or "be severed" from one hit with any weapon -- allows for some cinematic combat, although the duels are dully short.

That's not a good way to do it. There's modes that can only be activated through the console that allow for much more blockage and one hit kills from the saber. You don't need any of those mods.
A raven employee just confirmed that it is a new game and not just an expansion. Woohoo! :)
I don't remember them all but try putting in these two:
g_saberrealisticcombat 3
and
g_dismemberment 3
You can set the "3" higher if you'd like. You need to enable cheats to use these too.

You can now see several new screenshots. TF.N already posted this today, but I'm showing you folks all the same.
Just go to http://www.lucasarts.com/products/jediacademy/ and click on Screenshots. :)
You'll see some amazing stuff -- a Wookiee, a Jedi on Tauntaunback (instead of horseback -- get it?), a Sarlacc-looking creature, and more! Enjoy. :p
