I was just wondering if anybody has seen the new Transformers Commemorative Seriess III consisting of Jazz, Silverstreak, and thundercracker yet? I've looked on Transformers sites, but most of them seem pretty focused on Armada, which I'm not really into.
I did find a report sayint they've shown up in Canada, but has anyone in the States seen them yet?

They're not out in the States yet. They were pused back to April 15 or 22 .. can't remember which.

At any rate, I would recomend the Takara reissues anyway. They are mostly original and do not have any viagra missles like the Hasbro reissues.:)

Holy Crap! These things are EXPENSIVE. I bought Optimus Prime 'cause my original is decimated, but my checkbook vetoed Ultra Magnus at $40+ and I haven't even entertained the idea of getting Powermaster Prime and Starscream.

I loved the Constructicons and the Combaticons. I hope they reissue the builder sets.

Series III was pushed back to April 15th per the TRU website.:(

I have seen all of them at retail at least once, except Power Master Optimus, which I don't really like that much anyway.

I went ahead and pre-ordered series III, from the website.:D

Are you judging that from the original American PMOP? The new one makes the old one seem like a knockoff! The cab is diecast and the fists on the Super Prime retract. And of course you get God Bomber, called APex here is the states. It's a lot better than the original US release.

Don't count on that... the Combaticons are very unlikely... the were just released twice in the Robots in Disguise line. Once sold seperatly, and then a Wal-Mart exclusive pack. And Hasbro has stated that most of the other gestault molds have been lost, and it would be to expensive to make news one..

I hate when Hasbro uses excuses like that one. It can't be any more expensive than the new molds for Armada toys!

At any rate, I got the Starscream reissue, and although the missles look goofy, it's pretty cool otherwise. And I believe I still have a lot of the old Jazz and Bluestreak weapons rolling around in a box, so I'd rather get the US versions rather than hunt the Takara versions on the internet. Although I wish I could afford a gold Jazz or clear Starscream. I check E-Bay every once in a while for those.

I won't be getting the Thundercracker though, because I have my old, beat-up, almost-complete one from 1984. It was the second Transformer I ever got, and it's still in good condition!

My old Thundercracker is missing his wing. I used to chalk it up to "battle damage" and leave him in robot mode. :) But now he's in a box with all my other vintage TFs.

Anybody been picking up those Fun4all keychains of the original Mini Autobots? Not exactly rereleases, but close enough! They even got the original techspecs on the back! :D I got the first four and am waiting for Gears and Huffer to come out.

It's not an excuse.. first of all molds are very expensive. And reverse evolution remolding doesn't always work. Yeah they make new molds for Armada, BUT Armada's release scale is WAY bigger than what the G1 line is. The smallscale release of G1 stuff probably isn't enough to justify Hasbro or Takara making remaking old molds. And Hasbro isn't really to blame for this. It's more then likely Takara's fault for losing the gestault molds. They originally created them, and for the most part have used them the most recent. The last Gestault Takara made, besides the Car Robots Valdigus(G1 Bruticus / RiD Ruination), was the Seacons (http://www.bwtf.com/bws/toys/reviews/godneptune.shtml#coelagon) in Beastwars The Second. So it's a good bet that one still exists. We know the Combatacons do, but they won't be released in the CS. So, in question is the Aerialbots, the Protectobots, the Technobots, the Constructicons, the Stunticons, the Predacons, and the Horrorcons. Then of course there's the Japanese only Landcross and Raiden. Superion, and Devestator were used in G2, so it's possible those exist. Menasor and Defensor were planned, but never released. So it's up in the air who's missing. Hasbro made it obvious that not ALL of them are gone..

If you get Gold Lagoon Jazz, I wouldn't open him. His paint flakes of too easily. I would wait for Takara to release Bluestreak.. they will probably give him show accurate colors like they gave Starscream.

Yeah, I guess I wasn't taking into account the lower production numbers for thew rereleases. And I think I may go with the Takara versions of Tracks, Smokescreen, and a few others, because they don't seem to be much more expensive than the American releases. Tracks is one toy I always wanted but never got around to owning as a child.:( Never mind that I had like 100 other Transformers!:)

My girlfriend got me the Bumblebee keychain at Hot Topic. It was so cool in the package I left it that way, which I rarely do with toys.

You know, what I'd really like is if they went with old characters in new molds. Like make the Constructicons with the same names and make them appear similar, but maybe make them more posable and make them connect together in a more sturdy way. Whenever Armada runs it's course, that's what I would love to see next. I'd go back full-fledged into collecting Transformers if they did that!! I mean, I do like some of the Armada toys, but for some reason can't get into them too much. I loved Optimus with the self-transforming trailer. I got it for my girlfriend's son for Christmas, and I think I enjoyed it more than he did!:)

Adam

Another Takara enthusiast. Good. :) How much are the keychains at Hot Topic?

You know, I would friggin' love new "neo" molds for all the old characters. We ARE getting a 20th Anniversary figure next year, which looks to be a new G1 Optimus Prime. The first pictures of that will be at botcon of this year. Hasbro has said they are going to say away from the ultra realism that G1 and RiD had. So it's unlikely we'll see any more classic ones, unless 20th Prime sells extremely well. And it should. Also, there are 2 lines (potentially 3 if CS still exists in 2004) next year. The new Kid Targeted show (Armada sequel?) and a FAN LINE WITH NEW MOLDS. Despite what I said a couple of sentences ago, I believe Hasbro said this line could have designs remenicent of classic , and more important to me, WAR WITHIN designs. Don F. (Who's last name I refuse to butcher) drew The War Within mini series. He's also mentioned that he worked on some designs for the 2004 line........

And by the way, if you like Superbase Prime, you should LOVE Supercon (Deluxe) Optimus Prime. He is awesome. Great articulation, especially considering its an Armada toy. I would go on about it, and a few others (Jetfire, Red Alert..) but there's an Armada thread for that. :D

Hasbro has hinted that Bluestreak is possibly in the cards for a Takara release soon, in anime colors, so now I don't have to buy silverstreak! yay!

On a related note, if I see one more person ask to get a blue Bluestreak made, I will go insane. Bluestreak refers to the way he talks, not his color.......

EDIT: Ok I take it back, apparently he was blue, and I just thought his hood was black. :stupid:

Wow! I didn't know about that! I LOVED the War Within series, and was thinking how cool new toys based on that comic would be... I'd definitely be into those toys if they made them! The artwork was fantastic all-around, and I loved Grimlock and Megatron's vehicle modes.

And the Bumblebee at Hot Topic was $6.99 (the sticker's still on the back of the card!).

I payed about 5 bucks for Cliffjumper at my comic shop.. that makes me feel better. :)

Orson said that he would try to incorporate classic and War Within designs, but we would have to settle with 80% remenicent to the designs..

That sounds good to me! I can't wait to see this new Optimus. 80% reminiscent sounds like enough to get me interested.

Adam
04-05-2003, 05:37 PM
Well, I think the 80% thing refers to the new line, not the Aniversary figure. If it is Prime, it should be pretty cartoon acurate I would think.

Okay, so I just made a major investment. I got Gold Jazz, Anime Bluestreak, Red Tracks, and Grey Skids for $110.00 off of E-Bay before shipping. It looks like I got a decent deal, but I'm new to buying the re-issues and exclusives and stuff.

I really hope this new collector's line thing is true, especially if they are pretty cartoon-accurate. I'd love to see a larger Bumblebee, a not-so-goofy Brawn, and Ironhide and Ratchet with ACTUAL HEADS instead of flat sticker-faces.

So where do you get your news from? And what's a good place to buy the Takara re-issues from? There is a display case at a collectible toy store here that is full of Transformers. I got a Jazz PVC for $6 from there. The guy has some of the new Takara re-issues, but they are like $45. Also, he was in there one day and remarked about how he buys the HOC PVC's from Walgreens and re-sells them there, so now I don't want to buy from him anymore. I'm really interested in getting some of the Takara pieces though. With such a drought of Star Wars figures lately, I'm getting excited about spending too much money on something else now!:D

For the record, I really wouldn't mind if they made a blue Bluestreak like the old prototypes in the original catalog. I'd probably want to get it. When I was little I took my silver Bluestreak, and a Blue marker, and did my own paint job on him! I did this with a few of my toys... I guess I'm a "customizer" from way back!:D :) :D

Adam

Your ebay deal doesn't sound too bad.

Remember the collectors line is not going to be straight G1. But there are supposed to be some influences in it. Orson (Hasbro) has made no promises though.

I get my news from Americandreamcomics.com, tfw2005.com, bwtf.com, and tformers.com. Mostly though, I see a thread about it in AmericanDreamComics' forums.

Bigbadtoystore has all the current DW reissues except for Sideswipe and Megatron. Sideswipe is sold out, and BBTS cannot sell Megatron.

You can also get the Brawn and Windcharger keychains for 9.99 there.

You can get Sideswipe and Megatron at Maybang.com. I have never ordered from them, but have heard good things.

That's who is taking all the HoC! It took me forever to get the ones I have..

About Hasbro losing the molds? I think a knockoff company called Megatoys found them because I was in Wal-Mart diring the Easter holiday and their big thing is pre-packaged Easter baskets at ridiculously low prices. Anyone, a couple of baskets I saw had the complete Constructicon set in it, under the name "Changeable Robot: Construction" but they had the freakin' Decepticon symbol all over the packaging! And another basket had the Protectobots in it, except Hotspot was now red instead of blue. Both sets were only $9.87 and you got candy and a basket with them to boot.

So, my point is/was, no molds is no excuse for Hasbro.

sith_killer_99
04-20-2003, 10:16 AM
Yeah, I saw these as well, in fact, I bought the set.

Unfortunatly, these don't even compare to the original Consructicons. They are different molds, the individual robots don't even have faces, all the joints are seriously loose and the things were falling apart, not really glued together too well. I couldn't even put the big robot together all the way, they just didn't fit together right.

I would rather pay $60.00-$80.00 for a real set.

I have also seen several other knock off sets on e-bay: Bruticus, Superion, Devastator, etc.

Adam
04-20-2003, 12:52 PM
It more likely that the ko company reverse engineered toys instead of using the molds. They wouldn't be so craptacular if they were the original molds.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see them again, but its just not going to happen anytime soon.

Hasbro will not reissue anything Takara has not. Takara has never reissued Soundwave or the Dinobots. And as to their current reissues, they are probably going to do the convention reissues again before they do anything new. So expect all of the seekers, and some Autbot cars I can't remember right now. Ultra Magnus and Hot Rod and Rodimus Prime will most likely get the Takara treatment as well.

If they do reissue a new mold anytime soon there will be a lot of suprise and delighted people.

JediTricks

Those knockoffs are mostly molds pulled from production toys.

Been seeing a ton of Apex Primes and Thundercrackers lately, and a few Jazz and Silverstreak figures too. Opening up the packaging for the latter 2 is really not good though, I look at it and think "how is this worth thirty bucks exactly?" and put them down. I seem to be in the minority there though because there are very few of those Autobot cars.

Adam
04-24-2003, 05:06 PM
The cars ARE too expensive. I don't buy the TRU exclusives. I don't mind the prices on the Takara reissues because they are imported. And better. ;)

By the way. Bigbadtoystore is having a massive spring clearance sale, including plenty of TF stuff. I myself just ordered Brave Max ($106) and Takara reissue #5 Smokescreen($26). I almost got God Neptune(GESTAULT!) minus accesories, but his parts are a little hard to come by. It was hard to pass up at only 16 bucks though.

There's actually a lot of other stuff I want to get too, but I just don't have the money.

I finally got my shipment from my E-Bay purchase Saturday! These things are great!

I LOVE Gold Jazz. He looks kind of funny in car mode because the roof doesn't line up right, but in robot mode he looks awesome (I didn't apply the stickers. All the pictures I'd seen were stickerless, and I think it would detract from his appearance.) He looks fantastic in my display with all his weapons and lights all around him!

I never had Tracks as a kid, and he's a cool toy, especially in red like he appeared on the backs of the old boxes from the second year.

Bluestreak was always one of my favorites. Anime Bluestreak is an improvement on the old color scheme. Looks great!

The grey Skids is really cool. I'd forgotten about how many little doors open on this mold. The head is different because it's supposed to be a different character, and the color scheme seems to suit the toy. And it comes with a little scooter (I assume it went with the Diaclone driver) that fits into the rear compartment!

I think I prefer non-firing missiles, though, because these things launch so far I'm surprised I haven't lost any yet, or shot my eye out. Also, some of the stickers are a little oversized, and don't really fit on the toys correctly. Otherwise, though, these are fantastic toys!

I got the TRU Jazz, way too expensive, but I likt the mold better than the Takara one because the roof lines up in car mode. But that missle launcher has to go. (I have my old Jazz missles, but can't find the launcher. Looks like I'll have to track one down somewhere.)

Also got Dreamwave reissue Smokescreen. Never had him as a kid, and this edition is perfect. Those missiles REALLY launch, though, as I said before.

Now I'm waiting on a G@ Sideswipe I won, and a DW Skids reissue. Hoping to also find a DW Tracks for a decent price. No Star Wars to be found, so I'm digging the Transformers in the meantime!:) :)

Yeah, I just picked up my TRU Jazz re-issue. I am also looking at going for the "Collection" book style re-issues. Does anyone know if the boxes are the same size as the new TRU book style boxes?

Obi-Dan Kenobi
05-05-2003, 01:55 PM
Yes, the box for my TRU Jazz and Dreamwave Smokescreen are about the same size.

Adam
05-05-2003, 11:53 PM
And of course for bigger ones, like Megatron and Optimus Prime, the boxes are bigger.

I wouldn't transform Gold Lagoon Jazz that much, I hear the paint flakes..

Obi-Dan Kenobi
05-12-2003, 03:03 AM
Yeah, I don't really intend to transform Gold Jazz much. He looks really cool in robot mode, with light reflecting off of him, so I'll leave him be. He's more of a display piece than a representation of the character anyway. And the roof thing in car mode bugs me.

Got my G2 Sideswipe in the mail the other day. I'm going to see if I have some G1 weapons in my stash to put on him. Also got a Tracks on Ebay. I should get that and Skids this week. I've been hauling in the Transformers! :)

According to Toyfare Prowl, Red Alert and Skywarp are the next wave.

And Hoist, Tracks, and Grapple are the wave after that (What , no Decepticons?)

Obi-Dan Kenobi
05-16-2003, 06:26 PM
Yeah, the lack of Decepticons is disappointing. And I heard the reason for it is that they've released too many planes. But they've only relesed three. Andthey've released seven cars and three large trucks. So they throw in an extra CAR? I don't get it.

I'm really hoping they'll release Thrust over here. I've seen nice-looking loose ones for as low as $40.00, but I'd like a fresh, in-the-package new one. And the Japanese reissue was limited so it's going for outrageous prices. Grapple's good news, though, as he's one I really want. So has anyone seen the new wave (with Prowl) in North America yet? I've heard a few reports, but nothing I thought was reliable.

I agree with everyone that agreed that these TRU reissues are way too expensive! It is really sad that TRU/Hasbro wants to charge us $19.99 for a re-made Jazz figure. Too high for me and my friend who loves transformers. I got lucky a month ago and found an Optimus Prime, and I bought it. I asked my friend, "Do you want to give me the $43.00 for this and keep it?" He said, "No, I really wish I could get it, but I just can't afford that!" I said, "I don't blame you buddy." So I took the figure back to TRU. Sad, sad, sad. ($43.00 is with TX tax included...this figure, as many of you know, retails for a whopping $39.99!!) C'mon Hasbro/TRU, price these things so that more people can get them and enjoy them!!! They are TOYS!!! TOYS!! TOYS!!!

Yeah, Hot Rod (Rodimus Major, or whatever) went for $19.99, but the other cars have been $29.99. According to Hasbro, it was TRU who upped the price. If you look hard enough, you can get the Takara reissues, and even some of the repaints, for the same price!!

Obi-Dan Kenobi
05-22-2003, 08:10 PM
Okay, I just saw the news over at American Dream Comics. Man, a brand-new Soundwave complete with Buzzsaw is very tempting...

As far as the Dinobots and Insecticons, I think I've heard those mentioned as likely, but there's always the issue of whether or not the molds are still usable or even still exist. Of course, the word on Soundwave for a while was that his mold was damaged, so anythings's possible!

JediTricks
05-22-2003, 10:15 PM
The mold could be completely gone and Takara could still pull molds from the original, Hasbro did this with those Vinty SW re-releases in '95.

I hope Soundwave gets reissued here in the US, I'd especially like him with all his cassettes rather than just Buzzsaw. No matter what though, I'll be buying this re-release.

--

Slightly off-topic, this just popped into my mind. If you were able to, how would you modify G1 Optimus Prime to make him a better figure and/or vehicle?

The first thing that comes to my mind is a door that pops up to cover the big hole in his back, maybe have his internal systems and the leadership matrix pop up to cover the empty cabin instead. Also, I'd let the legs swing forward more, and I'd like to figure out a way to get his fists intergrated into his arms somehow.

Adam

Yay for Soundwave!

Jetfire will never be reissued. You can buy the same mold from Bandai though, with some minor differences. (Colors, head.)

TRANSFORMER LEGOS?!?! WTH??! I truly live in a world of the bizarre... :D

My pet peeve with G1 Optimus was that he couldn't hold his gun straight on because of that stylized handle on the back end. The flip open chest seemed pointless since it didn't come with pilot. Unless you stored his fists there... if they could figure out a way to put the fists in the forearms. More leg articulation. Roller should have been able to transform.

I found the Heroes of Cybertron Rodimus and Grimlock last Monday!! It was at a Walgreen's I've never been to before in a kind of a rough neighborhood near the University area here. I was quite happy, as I've been searching for these forever. Hopefully I'll see the rest of wave 3 soon. Oh, and a few weeks ago I got the Japanese PVC's of Omega Supreme and Siren. Also got my Takara Skids and Tracks. I highly recommend both, especially if you can get them for $32 each shipped! I just love the packaging, although it makes me wish I could read Japanese! My Transformer shelf is starting to look like a collection!

If I could improve Optimus, I'd go along with most of the things listed, especially the retractable hands, and a solid back in robot form. Not so many labels, more painted details, and better leg and head posability. And a trailer that appears out of nowhere when you change him into vehicle mode.:):)

Adam

Skids and Tracks will soon be mine..

Glad to hear the HOC 3 is starting to show up.. finally. Maybe now I'll be able to find series two!

And in case anyone is remotely interested, the next TF line after Armada was officially anounced today. It's called TF Energon and more info can be seen here, http://www.tfw2005.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=78 or in the Armada thread.

Obi-Dan, if only that trailer could appear from nowhere... if only. Good call on the stickers, more paint and less stickers is one of my mottos.

I'm still confused, are HOC the US version of the PVCs or the Mega Super Collection figures (or whatever the heck they're called, the poseable ones that are a ripoff of Bandai's MSiA line).

BTW, "TF: Energon" somehow seems so flat as a name, maybe it'll get more catchy by the time it hits.

The HOC are the US version of the PVC's. Almost identical, except they have light-pipe type eyes.

Hey, Obi-Dan, until your post, I didn't know that they had made a Grimlock PVC! I was so excited about it that I went to a Walgreen's halfway across town to look for it. They had 3 Paradron Medics when all I wanted was a Grimlock! (Isn't that an Alanis Morrissette song?) :crazed:

Yeah, those Paradron Medics seem to be hanging around no matter where I go. They and the original Arcee are probably the reason the third wave is so hard to find. Keep looking, though. It's taken a lot of searching for me to find those two, and I still haven't found the other four from that wave!

Those World's Smallest Transformers are too cool. I hadn't seen the second wave yet. What's up with the take-apart Megatron?

Not sure whats up with the megs, we'll get more details as it comes closer to release. Wave 1 hasn't been released yet.

They cost 2.99(or 3.99.. cant remember which) a peice at HLJ, or 50 for a cse of 12 at BBTS.

Went to a Walgreen's and a Meijer today. Saw 4 Paradron's at Walgreen's. Meijer had the usual Arcee/Paradron army, and also a whole case of wave 1 HOC (Prime, Starscream, Skywarp,etc...). Nothing new, though.

Yeah, the new reissues are just sitting among the last series here. Also, the PM Primes don't seem to be going anywhere. Wish I could find an original Prime still sitting around... I'll probably get Red Alert if there's a markdown, (he's one of the few from my childhood that is still more or less in one piece, but he's pretty beaten up) but I'm gonna get the Takara version of Prowl, with the chrome weapons.

However, yesterday I did find an Ironhide PVC, at yet another Walgreens, and for the third time, they had to do a price check! I'm finding them, slowly but surely.

All i really want are: Sideswipe, Sunstreaker, the Dinobots, Soundwave, and Thundercracker (for right now at least) I know most of them havent been released yet but anybody know if there are plans to put these guys out?

Adam

Sideswipe has been reissued by Takara, and Thundercracker is available at TRU right now. Soundwave will be released by Takara in August. Hasbro has no current plans for him. No idea about SUnstreaker and the Dinobots.

This may have been addressed, but why are most of these reissues priced at $30 to $40 bucks? I know they're exclusives but the prices just seem too high to me, they're not at FAO after all. Has anyone heard a reason why they are priced so high, or is it just that they are exclusives.

Hasbro makes them a little expensive in the first place, and TRU jacks the price up even more.

It is the Hasbro Starscream. If i recall correctly you (Adam) prefer Takara version reissues. I believe ive seen your reasoning before but right now it eludes me (wasnt it something about the weapons not being plastic?) I think the next one i go for is either going to be Hasbro Skywarp or Takara Sideswipe. Luckily Sideswipe doesnt look like hes going for much on ebay. So will the reissues from Hasbro and Takara look odd together?

Obi-Dan Kenobi

I went to Wizard World this past weekend, and since I couldn't get in to the Kevin Smith Q&A, I went to the Hasbro presentation. They indicated that these reissues would continue, that they and TRU are happy with the arrangement that they had, and that they would continue to only release toys that Takara has already released. They said, more or less, that they did not intend to bring Soundwave out over here at this time. They also said there was no way they would do Megatron or Sixshot, because both are guns (I wonder if that counts Galvatron out too.). I also heard recently, on some message board or something, that they cannot bring out things like Sunstorm or the clear versions, or Gold Jazz, because they are exclusive to Japan. Sounds like a bunch of hoohaw to me. I personally would love to see more variations on the Starscream mold, especially Ghost Starscream. And the black versions of Hot Rod and Tracks are really cool. But, oh well.

And I saw the reissues of Hoist, Tracks, and Inferno up close. They look exactly like the old versions. Assuming they don't change before they hit the shelves, they should have chrome weapons which are not oversized and look really good.

Also, I got a Takara Prowl for $30, Mega-SCF Rodimus for $15, and Smallest Transformers Sideswipe for $4, and Bumblebee, Soundwave, and Starscream for $5. All in all, it was a good haul.

Hasbro Starscream has viagra missles. The old missles are too small for current soccer moms, I mean, US safety standards. And if they are the old missles, they no longer fire, which isn't a big deal. I also prefer Takara, because I have their boxes displayed and I want to keep it looking uniform.

Okay, I apologize for the back to backs posting, but this is brand new info. Hit TRU today, and they did have Rodimus Major from series I. Now I wasn't watching for these back when they first came out, but this TF is packed in a totally different type of box than all the other commemorative ones I've seen. It is a small rectangular window box, not one of the flat "opens like a book" models. I don't know if this is a different box from when he was first released, but it doesn't look nearly as nice as say Jazz or Silverstreak which are the same size. How do you go about finding what the new Hasbro and Takara releases will be and who they will contain?

Online retailers, or transformers websites like tformers.com or tfw2005.com

How likely is it that the Dinobots will be released one day?

Don't really know. The popular opinion WAS that Takara will first reissue everything it had previosly reissued. This is no longer the case as Soundwave is being reissued, and has not been previously. (The mold was damaged.) Hasbro has stated they won't put out anything Takara has not, for now. As for the Dinobots, there's no clue really.

He looks nice and im glad to be able to include him in my modest G1 collection, but his packaging (and that of his other Hasbro friends) looks lame when compared side by side with my Takara Sideswipe. And seeing that for only a few dollars more i can get the nicely packaged Takara versions and even ones not released by Hasbro (such as Soundwave and Astrotrain) the choice is easy to make.

Hey, I don't really visit the collecting threads that often, so bear with me, but In Hasbro's commemorative reissue seires I also really wanted to pick up the Tracks reissue because I never had him as a kid, however when I looked at him in the box, he looked pretty generic looking with no stickers, decals or paint on him what so ever. 1) Isn't he suppossed to have red and orange flames on his hood? 2) or Did the original Tracks also look so generic?
Just wondering, because if it's an error then I might really want to pick him up, but I thought I'd ask before I spent the $30 bucks for him!

Blow the dust off this thread...

I finally got the Takara reissue of Soundwave that i had wanted for so long. Ended up getting him through ebay instead of an online retailer and it was actually a couple dollars cheaper than i would have payed at the same Etailers. It feels good to finally have a version of him that has all his weapons. Add in the bonus of Lazerbeak and im one happy camper.

While looking at him last night i couldnt help but hope that Takara will one day reissue his cassettes. To the best of my knowledge there are 10 baddies (not including Japanese exclusive ones, just ones that hit here) but with Lazerbeak already being included that leaves nine (Ratbat, Slugfest, Overkill, Frenzy, Rumble, Ravage, Buzzsaw, Squalktalk, and Beastbox) cassettes left over. I doubt they would jam all them in a single box so im thinking four or five would be more realistic. Assuming four were to be put in an assortment i would hope for it to include Ravage, Rumble, Frenzy, and either Ratbat or Buzzsaw. The remaining five or four (depending upon how many they would reissue in a single box) could be thrown into a reissue slot for later. Hopefully this will happen sometime in my life, im not getting any younger.

Since my last post in this thread i had held off on buying Astrotrain because i noticed Bigbadtoystore had raised his price to $39.99 (Soundwaves had also been raised to $59.99 prior to his selling out) and im debating whether to get the black and grey version that came out over here from a local collectors/scalper shop in Omaha for about $60 still in package. Theyve also got Blitzwing for around the same price.

Speaking of the local collector/scalper shop they recently had a "Everything is 20% Off" sale (during the free comic day) and i was able to pick up their two Dinobots, Slag and Snarl, for about $145. Not a bad price in my opinion considering that both came with their boxes (which look good for being 20 years old) and bubble. Add to that that both figures were in awesome shape with no chrome wear or sticker wear (i was told that both came from a private collection, the previous owner opened them, applied stickers, posed them a bit, then returned them to their boxes) and came with all accessories. Of the six missles that came between the two of them, five are still connected to the rack. Very nice figures and easily the pride of my small collection of reissues and originals.

Back to the topic of Takara/Hasbro reissues: i havent heard of any new Hasbro products so nothing from them springs to mind as a want. But ive seen that Takara plans to reissue Hound and the Insecticons. Im planning on getting the Insecticons but am not quite sure whether i will be getting Hound or not. I like him but other bots have priority. Im hoping that one day soon Takara will release Sunstreaker. Ok, im done, sorry if bored the crap out of you.

A brief revival for this thread...

I recently acquired two Takara reissues. I got Blitzwing, very cool packaging, and Predaking last week. Blitzwing is probably my favorite triple changer, i think he looks good in both his vehicle modes. Predaking is sweet. I love the individual animal modes, (remember im a sucker for bots that transform into beasts) the robot versions are okay, could be a bit better, but its forgiven since together they create the coolest combiner.

Soundblaster is the next reissue slated to come out. I would like to get him, mainly because he will come with Ravage, but probably will pass. Perceptor will follow, but i wont be buying. Perceptor just isnt cool enough.

They really need to draw a line withthe reissues. I am cool with them doing the core characters... but when i heard about Predaking.... Man am i ****ed. I have the original 100% complete metal version.... which is now worth nothing but personal value. I could understand you being upset that an uncommon piece you have is going to be mass produced again, but on the same hand if you really value it for what it is and not how much someone would be willing to pay for it i think it shouldnt be such a big concern. Im slowly assembling the team of G1 Dinobots and i could see myself being slightly bothered that figures i spent a pretty penny on are being released again, but then at the same time i wouldnt care, because the versions i have are still the originals and would impress most people. But if they were to be reissued, i would hope it would be in more cartoon acurrate paint schemes.

So do you collect any of the reissues or are you no longer a G1 collector?

For the most part im content on picking up reissues, but for my favorite characters (such as the Dinobots) i go for them whenever money permits me to.
