View Full Version : Another Exclusive Figure ??
04-08-2003, 05:49 PM
I was browsing on another site and I came across some information that there was (possibly) going to be another exclusive figure released at the MEXICON City Collectors event:
It mentioned that it would have the same run as the Lucas figure, it would be a ROTJ figure, metalized and on the same type card as Vader and R2. ALso, it mentioned that it would be released later to everyone.
Any truth to this rumor -- and are there any speculations as to who it may be?
Boba Fett, Emperor, Han in Carbonite, Royal Guard???
My hope would be a cool version of an old ANAKIN SKYWALKER!!

I heard the same rumors too, but not about the metallic deco.
The banners from the convention had an image of the Yak Face figure on them, so I'm wondering if that will be the figure, but I'm only guessing.
I also did read or hear that it would be available at a later date through some other vendors, like the fan club or some one else.
But I'm sure we'll see something or more information soon enough.

On another thread, someone told something about another Yak Face figure for Mexico...no need at all...how about Dannik Jerriko??
04-08-2003, 06:35 PM
Nah...forget about that!! If it's another Yak Face then at least that will make one exclusive that I won't bust my a** 4!!!

Man oh man, please let this be available through the fan club! And not on-line for a period of 10 minutes like the Silver Toy Fair Vader.

funny thing is, I remember the starwars.com site talking about it a few months ago and the convention should have already taken place and I don't think anything has been revealed or mentioned since.
They made mention that the "exclusive" was to be an already released figure. If there was to be such an exclusive, I'm sure it would have surfaced right away on starwars.com or on ebay, but when I searched the database for the mexicon info, nothing came back.
Maybe the exclusive was scrapped?

Whoops, posted some bad info in the message above. Sorry.
I just did a searching and checked out the Rebscum page, and got the "iffy" info.
I have to admit I'm a little skeptical. They mention a run like Sacul, yet it will be available to the rest of the world later? They also made mention of the Toy Fair Vader being re-issued at some later date too on another card, and we all know how that turned out.
I know they had give aways in other parts of the world for sacul, but it was never made available within the US from an alternate source and if they are going to use the same production numbers, this might be another mess and ebay inflation bit.
But I won't put much stock into it till the convention hits or images show up of the figure.

No how did that turn out? The FC Vaders had the exact same cards.
I doubt it's Yakface, the figures they've done have had metal elements about them. I'd guess it's either a Stormtrooper, Scout Trooper, Royal Guard, 3PO, or if you wanted to really stretch it a TIE Pilot.
I find the idea of the chrome figure pretty crappy, however from what I've read they're handing them out differently. They're being handed out in the packages that are given to you I guess when you give them your ticket, which is pretty cool, like how the Sacul's should've been handled. Sad that it takes Mexico to possibly get it right.
I think the rumored US release of it on a different card will mean a US card, cause since it's Mexico it'll likely be a trilogo card.

Way back when either the starwars site posted this or it was on the fan club site or some toy mag, but originally the toy fair vader was going to have a card exclusively for the toy fair...and here's the big and...AND it was rumored to be re-issued at a later date on a new card that didn't have the toy fair text on it.
Obiviously nothing ever came from that, and Hasbro later said it wasn't going to re-issue or re-card that figure.
I remember almost bidding on them until the fan club offered them, and I remember the fan club stating something about the figure being re-issued later on a differnt card. And your right, its same card and nothing more happened...I have a hunch this will be the same thing.
Hence, I don't by into any of the speculation at this point.

Yeah I read it to at RS, I'd be willing to bet it's going to be Boba Fett. For one thing we can count all human and aliens out. It has to be a droid or masked charactor, so I say it's Boba. I don't think it would be 3P0, because whats the point? A Stormy would be cool!

Well, I heard about this figure but not that it was going to be from ROTJ. If they are going to release to us in another form, through the fan club, mail away, whatever then it is fine. I am going to bet that it is a vac-metal Royal Guard. I think that that would look cooler than a vac-metal Boba Fett.
04-09-2003, 01:27 PM
Since it's ROTJ - which either means the return of Anakin, if you think like me, or the return of Luke, if you think like others - I say it's one of those two figures.
My money's on Luke Jedi. Hasbro never seems to tire making those suckers.

A silver Biker Scout would be cool.
04-09-2003, 03:18 PM
Out on a limb here, but a reissued Leia as Boushh would look great in metal.
04-09-2003, 03:44 PM
Got a new one: Silver Ewok. I have a vision of a POTF2 Wicket all shiny-fied.
04-09-2003, 04:00 PM
Since we're tossing out guesses...
I think its got to be some what of a main ROTJ character...
Wicket has always graced books, poster and is sort of an icon for RTOJ.
There were images of the royal guard on folders and posters...
Luke and Leia are always in the forefront.
What figure uppon 1st glance would say "Hey, this is what RTOJ is all about"...
So I gotta toss out a goofy one and say...a metal vac Wicket!!!

This was taken from a "rival" site...
Just to add more fuel to the fire about this.
"New Vac-Metal Figures On Tap
4/9/2003 1:04:31 PM | Reported by xxxxx
Our reliable Bothan Spies have chimed in with good news for later this year. Vac-metallized figures---the treatment used for Toy Fair Vader and 25th Anniversary R2-D2---are planned for Boba Fett and the Clone Trooper. The Clone Trooper is believed to be available as a special promotion, like TRU's Gift With Purchase R2-D2, while Boba Fett will be a little more exclusive.
Rumor has it that Fett will be based on the ROTJ version (in commemoration of Jedi's 20th anniversary) and will be initially available at the Mexico City Convention in July and then via the Star Wars Insider/Fan Club after that. The figures will be carded in the same style as the Vader and R2-D2 and have a limited run. Keep it here in Galactic Hunter for more news on this coming soon.
The caveat emptor applies that this information, although coming from reliable sources, has not been confirmed by Hasbro. Take it as rumor for the time being."
04-09-2003, 07:12 PM
Come on guys they are not going to metalize a Human. It will be Fett, mark my word. Hasbro likes CORE charactors. I Hope they use the 300th fett, they better not go with the POTF2 one. How about a vintage Boba, now that would be cool!
04-09-2003, 07:18 PM
Fett would be cool, but I always associated him more with ESB. I guess it's a vintage thing, cool new "secret" figure, first appearance, etc.
ROTJ where he "dies" on screen.
04-10-2003, 09:50 AM
What about a metal vac Boba Fett E3 sneak preview?
04-10-2003, 10:35 AM
It's just got to be a Stormtrooper. They are such a cool star wars image that they will have to make a metalicised one of them.
Just wait til the golden aniversary, what's the ebtign they bring out as C-3PO for that.... If any of us are still collecting in 24 years!
04-11-2003, 09:15 AM
The latest info from the site that I got the info from says the following:
".... there is no solid evidence to confirm that the figure will be vac-metalised, and our source is non-commital on this matter."
There is no telling who the figure will be with a comment like that -- the "metal" FETT would be cool. If it is not metal -- this sure seems like the perfect time to introduce that #1 Jedi Luke that everyone is talking about~~
04-17-2003, 08:41 PM
HeHeHe, I told you so. Don't you hate when someone says that, LOL. It was a gut feeling that it was Fett. Now to find him.
04-21-2003, 09:35 AM
Ok turbowars -- you were right -- and your prize is having to get all of us on this tread one of these figures. You must be strong with the force.
Now THATS funny -- hahaha.
04-21-2003, 07:23 PM
Dude if I could get time off work and not get canned, I'd go to Mexico and get as many as I could for some of you, the rest I'd sell on E-bay, Now that's FUNNY HeHeHe.:crazed:
04-22-2003, 09:03 AM
Thanks turbowars -- its nice to see that there are still some nice imperial tie pilots in the world :D
