View Full Version : Iraqi people dancing in the streets

Has anyone seen the news footage of the liberated Iraqi citizens dancing in the streets of Baghdad? When I first saw the footage, the first thing that went through my mind was the "celebration sequence" at the end of ROTJ special edition. It actually made the hair on my arms stand up.

What? Why?

This is not a political post...nor is it religious!

This thread makes a direct connection between current events and the Star Wars saga.

In what sense?

1. It directly references a current political event.

2. You say G** Bless the USA, a political statement itself.

3. If threads making humorous references to these events without once mentioning anything based in reality are to be locked, than this one should as well.

Anything better to do? Hi pot? This is kettle...........you're black!

Well, if the rule is going to exist, it should be absolute. Good political news, bad political news, what have you...........

IF the ban is lifted I will be the first to congratulate the Iraqi people on their new found freedom.....

That being said, I don't wish to be banned...so I will say no more ;)

Seriously, just stop the posting in this thread. I believe Steve's or JT's advice on these type of posts were not to respond to them, report them, and they will be dealt with when a moderator for this section gets here. That's all I'm saying about letting it go.

It's the "America" that's political.....not the deity ;)

How is the word AMERICA political?

I live in the United States of AMERICA
I am AMERICAN
I eat AMERICAN cheese
my favorite song is "God Bless AMERICA"
I think that Miss AMERICA is hot
My favorite Baseball league is the AMERICAN League
MY favorite group of islands is AMERICAN Somoa
All U.S. paper currency has "United States of AMERICA" printed on it.

Uh Oh, I had better watch myself...I'm getting REALLY political now...How AMERICAN of me!

This is not a political post. I am drawing a direct comparison between SW and current events.

How should I make this comparison without mentioning Iraq, the word liberation, or the city of Baghdad? My post would make no sense without those words being in there. I edited to remove the "God bless America" part, so as to not offend anybody's
religious beliefs...but the remainder of my statement is far from political...unless you consider the end of ROTJ to be political as well. In which case, I say shut the whole damn forum down!
