What do you perfer 12inch and 3 3/4 figures. ever though there isnt as many 12inch as there is 3inch. But still what you think.

04-16-2003, 10:14 PM
I thought I saw a thread on this somewhere, please forgive me if I am wrong. It depends on the figure for me. I like some and dislike some in both catagories.

04-16-2003, 10:16 PM
You might have I'm just writing what comes to mind. Sorry if this Question was asked once before

04-16-2003, 10:19 PM
I haven't even started a thread, just for that reason. Plus there is just so much to read on these boards without having to cover every section. Just trying to help!

04-16-2003, 10:20 PM
Oh no problem its helps to here what others think. I just like reading about stuff like this!

04-16-2003, 10:22 PM
It's not the size of the figure......but how you use it.

04-16-2003, 10:25 PM
wow thats one way to put it!

04-16-2003, 10:25 PM
That reminds me of an Eddie Murphy song, one of the lines was "stick a banana in your butt", and the whole song was about sticking things in your butt. Don't ask me why, it just does.

04-16-2003, 10:52 PM
I mostly collect the action figures. If a 12" looks really good I'll get it.

04-16-2003, 11:06 PM
Size matters not. Quality is the key.

IMO, most 12" figures have looked like cheap pieces o' junk. Bad likenesses, terrible clothes. On the whole, just awful. The outstanding exception being the Biker Scout. You'd think that a larger size would afford the creators of these more opportunity for better sculpting and more accuracy, but the reality is entirely the opposite.

Besides, they're just too big.

04-16-2003, 11:10 PM
I have all of the bounty hunter 12 inchers (including a Marmit Fett) and some of the Vaders. But, that's about it. I just don't dig them all too much. I'm a little dude collector primarily. I only buy a 12 incher when its something extra cool like the bounty hunters. But, that's just me.

04-16-2003, 11:11 PM
Yes, and you can't really make playsets or ships for them, the speeder bike being the exception, but look how big that turned out to be. I collect "most" of the 12" and all the 3 3/4 inch figures, providing I can find them. I just have this thing for 3 dimensional peices, both figure lines fufill that for me.

04-17-2003, 12:04 AM
I rarely see a 12" I like, - the new Gammorean Guard however does look very nice. Otherwise it has to be 3 3/4" for the choice fo figures, and senitmental value too.

I guess size isn't everything.

04-17-2003, 02:47 AM
I really do like and collect both.

But the fact that the 3 3/4 inch guys have groovy ships to fly around in gives them a definite edge.

Still, the detail of the 12 inch. . . Cantina Aliens are especially nifty IMOP. . . makes that line a lot of fun to collect as well . . .

04-17-2003, 03:15 AM
I'm with stillakid on this one. I personally have never been terribly impressed with the 12" figures and chose to focus my collecting budget on the 3.75 stuff. I don't have the space to display all my 3.75 stuff let alone trying to find the massive amount of real estate needed to show off a 12" collection. I do admit however that I am curious about seeing some photos of a complete 12" collection. I think that would be a sight to behold indeed.

04-17-2003, 07:58 AM
I just see the 12 inch figures as really badly out of proportion with those big melon heads and IMO they are little more than voodoo dollies. I fail to see how they can sculpt items at four inches tall and get the proportionds right and the facial details so accurate and then make these ugly foot long things so badly. There is nothing on this earth that would tempt me to purchase a 12 inch figure or creature. I'll stick with my little four inch figures which are cheaper and have a better pedigree. Thje mongrel 12 inch things can gather dust at the back of a warehouse for all I care about them.

The 12" Count Dooku that came out last year is what got me started collecting the 12" line. I definitely pick & choose from the 12" line due to the prices. The Ultimate Jango is sweet as are the Marmit figures (talk about prices!).

I like both lines, but wish Hasbro would do a better job with 12" human figures (look at the new Padme & Ani - YUCK!)

04-17-2003, 12:04 PM
I am partial to the 3 3/4" because one, it's a nastalgia thing since 1978 and two, I really think the detail on them is better than on the 12" figs. I do collect some of the 12" figs though because some are just too cool to pass up.

04-17-2003, 12:20 PM
I'm selective when it comes to the 12". I've tried to get all of the 12" Leias and the Obi-Wans. If there's one on clearance at a reasonable price, I might pick it up.

I would've liked to have gotten all of the 12" bounty hunters.

I remember that Eddie Murphy song, BobaFrett!

I stick to the 3 3/4" guys too. I don't have any 12" stuff and if I ever did it left my hands very quickly. It was just said, but it is too big!! I have boxes and boxes of star wars stuff all over the place and I just couldn't imagine doing that with 12" stuff.

04-17-2003, 12:53 PM
The latest 12" Padme looks too Barbie-ish to me. I might have to pass on that one.

Dooku is definitely on my 'to buy' list!

04-17-2003, 01:33 PM
I prefer the 3 3/4" line over the 12" line. I have a few 12" figures but they had to be really special for me to pick them up.

I stick with the smaller ones. They take up less room.

04-17-2003, 02:28 PM
I collect both ,even though the 12inch line has beeen sukin lately, back in late 95 early 97,I was buying almost every single 12 inch that came out ,(the only ones Im missing is the tie fighter, the first Han solo -dont ask me why ,I guess I didnt want to shell out dough for it)and a couple of the 98 exclusives that came out like the R2+C3PO Tru ecx, other than those I have all the other ones, including exclusives but lately,I have only purchased the Dooku,Dengar,Zuckuss,Leai+Han,Luke+Taun Taun,Mace(I bought just to get that silver r2)I cant even remember any other ones...
the Potj ones were pretty dope though ,and I want those new Ewoks, and the new Lando too ....Im out

04-17-2003, 04:13 PM
aw... see, now look what you've done to me. I clicked on JangoFart's link to his collection and the 12" bounty hunters look sooo kool atop that shelf. just what I needed, something else to put on my list of things to fill out my collection once I'm done with 3.75

04-17-2003, 04:42 PM
I collect the 12" figures I like. I am fascinated with removable arms (don't ask me why..humans only) so I bought the horrible new Anakin. I also have the collector's series vader, leia, yoda and obi-wan. I have (saga) Zuckuss (bought it cheap), Imperial Officer (bought it cheap), Dooku (bought it cheap), and Mace (bought it to get silver r2d2). I am trying to get the whole jedi council. (I need Ki-Adi and Plo Koon). I will, 100% positively, buy the new Yoda and maybe the jedi luke. I stick mostly to 3 3/4" figs because they are smaller and cheaper. Some of the 12" are cool...SOME of them. Does anyone know if the new jedi luke will have a removable hand?? :D

04-17-2003, 04:44 PM
I agree with almost everyone! smaller figures are much better, But for some strange reason I find buying more and more 12inch stuff. About a year ago I had 4 12inch figures now I have 85. I think I just wanted something else to buy. Its very addicting

I like the 3 3/4" figures. They're much better looking, have more stuff, less money, and take up less space. I do, however, have the 98 Jedi Luke, electronic TC-14, and want the new Yoda (it looks awesome!!!!), these all just caught my eye.

I'm all about the little figures. I don't bother with 12" unless I see a good deal on them at clearance.

04-17-2003, 09:22 PM
I like the 3 inchers. Main reason childhood memory of playing with these. So when Hasbro started making SW figures again I went with what I loved best. But I have to say that I really never have liked the 12 inch. Maybe its because they remind me of dolls, the reports about how hard they can be to find, or how bad I think the faces look. Any way I just got into them.

Reminds me of a beautiful blonde Chinese girl I used to date. But that's another story.

Generally, I like the smaller figures, 'cause they're nicer and come with a smaller price tag (usually). But I have a few of the big 'uns. The 12" bounty hunters rock, as does the 1st 12" Darth Maul. Can't wait to get my mitts on the upcoming Biker Scout release!

"One day I got on the usual bus, and when I stepped in, I saw the most gorgeous blonde Chinese girl...I sat beside her. I said, "Hi," and she said, "Hi," and then I said, "Nice day, isn't it?," and she said, "I saw my analyst today and he says I have a problem." So I asked, "What's the problem?" She replied, "I can't tell you. I don't even know you..." I said, "Well sometimes it's good to tell your problems to a perfect stranger on a bus." So she said, "Well, my analyst said I'm a nymphomaniac and I only like Jewish cowboys...by the way, my name is Denise." I said, "Hello, Denise. My name is Bucky Goldstein..."

OMG StillaKid, my neighbor JUST told me that joke a few days ago! Weird :crazed:

3 3/4. If the 12 inch line was done better maybe then, but not right now.

04-18-2003, 08:41 AM
I get some of both. Just whatever ones I actually like :)
