I got this over at Rebelscum:

9
What sort of timeline have you seen (or can you guess at) for the release of Episode II sneak peak figures? Hadn't the STAP, MicroMachines Theed Palace and Mace Windu mail-in figure already come out by November of 98? I've seen the list of 5 or 6 figures (B.Fett, Shaak Ti, a few others) that are supposed to be some sort of "preview". What's your take? Any possibilty of another mail-in?

Well, according to what I've read the Episode II line will hit retail on April 22. From now until then, we've got the FX-7 wave (hitting stores now), Eeth Koth wave (released in the Orient, probably here by the end of the year), and the BoShek wave (I'm guessing Jan/Feb). I've heard rumors the Preview wave may arrive as early as January, but toy distribution after the holidays is typically slow. My guess is we'll see wide spread release in February or March, then the new line in April. As for the mail-away figure, Hasbro hinted we should start saving out Jedi Master Points in San Diego. No word yet what they will be used for, but reports to date say five "Preview" figures, four of which will come in a case as the "Preview" assortment. That leaves one figure, which could very well turn out to be the mail-in offer. Speculation at best, but something to be prepared for.

Our Jedi Master points are going to able to be exchanged for real estate.

It's true folks, the more Jedi Master Points you have, the less likely you have any closet space, or you're paying too much for storage. Now our good folks at Hasbro have come up with an ingenious solution as well as a send-away collectors really want and need.

Hasbro has set aside some land in the middle of Wyoming in a quaint little town with 1 Target, 1 Walmart, and 1 Toys R Us, and no way to phone Rhode Island, and soon we will be able to exchange red, green, and blue cardbacks for our mortgage. This unusual settlement of collectors will be studied for generations, if we survive that long. Full-time National Guard and militia will be present at all the toy retailers but won't interfere unless the situation becomes unneccesarily violent.

The great social experiment is at hand. I'll see you at TRU - in Wyoming.

(editor's note: Harrison Ford will be selling his estate and moving far, far away prior to this deal going through).

Heck, I'd take crappy collectibles, at this point (pun intended)! I'm almost at the point (pun still intended) where I'd take already released figures. At least we'd feel like we're getting something for holding onto these things.

Heck, I'd trade in all my points for a can of mildew at this point. I have no idea why Hasbro includes these points on the box if they aren't going to use them. I remember I had saved all the MicroMachine points I collected over the years. I wrote to Galoob a letter stating what it's intentions were regarding the points and I never received an answer back. I then e-mailed them via their webpage and I was told basically, "throughout the year, we hold various promotions in where these points can be utilized, blah blah blah." I then e-mailed them back asking about these specific "promotions" and they failed to reply. I still have those points saved even though Galoob is pretty much defunct (taken over by the metamegaconglomerate known as Hasbro) and I hope, one day, one distant day, that there will be contests, offers, promotions, etc. that allow us collectors to finally turn in these points.

Well I hope they become useful for something. I have TONS of those things saved up!

Bring it on Hasbro!

LBC, you may have given Hasbro an idea: Mildewde, the plant man who befriends Obi-WAn while on Bost N'Fernooine in E3! ;) I sure hope not.

The one thing that will get my goat, will be if it's another "only points after this date" offers. :Pirate: ! I didn't like that aspect to get the Mace Windu fig.

The scary part Bel-Cam is if Hasbro releases the can of mildew and slaps a Star Wars label on it, I'll probably buy it.:frus:

I heard somewhere, outthere, that you can save up those Jedi Points for an exclusive Jango Fett figure next year...

Has there ever been a true reward for the points? I think not. also what do you all deem as an appropriate amount of point for say....

the boy and his mother, just the boy them

sorry got off track. point>fig?

I'd say 100 pts. this means that if we bought the big items ie queens ship...we would kind of get rewarded by adding another figure to the set.

what about exclusive only through points. I think it is a good idea, this way hasbro forces (no pun intended) you to by more or they can make it specific points for specific figures. For instance red queen, queen starship, capt. pan, ric ollie and along those lines gets you an exclusive r2-a4 (green r2).

what do you think. maybe I should post this in dear hasbro as well!!!

Unless its something really special that we've all been looking forward to since 95'-96', and you will not be able to get anything even close to whatever it turns out to be, most promotional deals or exclusives fall very short. So, I don't have high hopes for anything these points may be used for.

I don't want an E2 sneak preview figure, or some new resculpt of a different character, or some obscure cantina alien that in 2 years every dealer on the planet will be selling for $5-$10.

And how many points are we going to need? If you'll need 500 points for 1 figure, I say forget it.

At this point so close to a new movie I have very little hope for Hasbro. They need to wise up and start making better choices for the future.

Hasbro run a two tier system with regards to figures and exclusives. If you live in the states then you can have exclusives because of course America is the whole world and everything centers around America.

If you live in third world Europe you can have all the useless crap you want except the interesting stuff which only gets sold in the center of the world. Plus you don't get any exclusives as penance for living in the third world.
Hasbro runs a UK fan club that offers nothing but sky high priced figures that nobody wants that have been out elsewhere for years. hasbro UK doesn't appear to offer anything. Not even the distribution of figures to stores over here. It's down to some other company by the looks of it. hasbro UK seems to be primarily a design house for their other crappy toy lines.
Chances of UK people getting hold of anything redeemable against jedi master points - 0%. None of the other mail-ins were applicable to UK citizens. Not since the vintage line has the UK seen a mail-in exclusive outside of an expensive import. we are the poor cousins Hasbro would rather went away and simply dropped off the face of the planet. And until Hasbro addresses some of their more insane policies I'll shout loudly whenever I can get a shout in edgeways that Hasbro suck. If you have a problem with this then just stop and remember, it's your problem not mine. My problem is a company that sucks.

You can have my exclusive Jargo, I guarantee you I won't want it.;)

Of course I'm grateful to you Wolfwood319, but we still don't know what the exclusive is and whether in the end we'll actually want it. I'm just letting off steam generally I guess. It just feels like Hasbro are taunting us collectors from other countries with these America only figures. It is possible to find these things over here in comic stores and the like but at about four times the original asking price. I found the cantina band member that way and paid so much for the first one that when I realised I was being duped I swore blind I'd only ever buy reduced figures in future. Why should I be forced to pay the same amount I pay for a vehicle just to get a single, most likely uncarded figure? What is Hasbro thinking when they plan these deals out? Are they run by C. Mongomery Burns? Seems that way to me. :frus:

But thanks anyway for the thought Wolfwood319.

I think I'm getting a slight inkiling, e-Jargo, that you have a little bit of partial disappointment in Hasbro, is that right?

Here's my big fear. If the points end up being worth something, BUT they have to be from figures purchased after 2001 or so. Grr! Arr! :Pirate: That would be stinkowich!

Maybe your concerns Emperor Jargo would best be served with a thread in the Dear Hasbro section. We all feel your pain but are not in positions to do anything about.
