What is the official title for the second X-men film?

Is it X-Men-2, all advertisement posters say that it's called this.

X2, It say's this at the beggining of the actual film

Or is it actually, X-Men:X2?

Silly question, but it's been bugging me for a while.

The official name is X2: X-Men United. Given how late in the promotion the "X-Men United" began to show up, the fact it doesn't show up in the opening sequence, and how godawful lame it sounds, I think "X-Men United" was a last minute addition to the title by some studio execs. I've noticed a lot of people seem to think "X-Men" refers to all mutants, not a specific team of certain individuals under Xavier's tutelage.

It's actually going to be marketed as Capt Toadstool Saves the Circus starring Oliver Platt and Linda Lavin with a special guest appearance by Fred Savage. It will be followed six months later by a 2-disc Capt Toadstool 2.5 DVD...
