I like the character Wat Tambor. He intrigues me, and his back story is cool. (can check it out on the database at starwars.com) Anyways, I think he's an interesting character obsessed with technology. There is only one thing that bugged me a little bit...I was thinking, they should have named him Nam Tobor. This would have been cool because Nam Tobor spelled backwards is robot man!! Anyways, just thought I'd share.

Damn, that is a great idea. If I only had GL's cell phone # I'd give him a call.

Can't tell if you really think it was a good idea or if you are being facetious.

whenever i hear wat, i think of the large temple in cambodia angkor wat. could lucas have borrowed this for his name, the capital of what is now cambodia was once located at sambor.

I disagree. I think they should have named him Enihcam Edud. That's Machine Dude backwards. Or maybe Lacinahcem Trap Gnivah Yug (Mechanical Part Having Guy)!;)

Well... since Orn Free Taa was derived from "Corn Fritter" they could have a guy called Tac Sal... which is derived from "Taco Salad". ;)

This is from starwars.com...
"As befitting a technocrat, Wat Tambor is entirely encased in machinery and is even reliant on technology to speak. His deep, resonant voice is strangely mechanical, modulated by a set of dials built into his torso."
This made me think...Could this be a clue? Will it be the Techno Union that builds the suit for Anakin Skywalker???? interesting...

I had a remote control robot as a kid called "Tobor". It was lame, and as a result I must cast a nay vote on the name change. Nice try though - still beats Coleman Trebor.

I think we are all just being silly at this point.
Just as an aside... is Wat Tambor related to sitcom guest actor Jeffrey Tambor?

Tobor was lame, but who could resist him with a tagline like "TOBOR is ROBOT spelled backwards!!! It was a good enough selling point to hook me in!;) :crazed:

Maybe the character's name is also a nod to proto-trade-unionist Wat Tyler, who led an unsuccessful rebellion of peasants against King Richard II in England in AD1381...

Hey, I resent that remark.....(J/K) :D :p
I've speculated for sometime that Wat Tambor and the Techno Union (hey that sounds like a cool name for a "Techno Band") are the progenitors (look it up) to Vaders suit. It's funny though how Gl made Wat's vocalizer screw up. It makes them look inept. Kinda like when Bill Gates tried to show Microsoft 2000 for the first time and it didn't work.
