What the crap is this crap?!?!?!? So, the ONLY way to see the deleted scene of the Asssault on the Droid Control Ship that was cut from AOTC is to pay MORE money?!?!?! What about the 15 bucks I slapped down on the DVD?!!?!? I swear to God, if i spend money on this site, i better get a wake up call by a new cast member each day, welcoming me into a new day, and there better be an R2-D2 droid replica serving me chocolate milk on my way to work. This is nuts. Granted, some stuff would rule, like Episode III info and the Animated Series stuff, but i'm just irked to no extent here.

Oh, thanks for the link though. :D

That definitely sucks. I wasn't amazed from anything I saw, as for the deleted scene bah, I'll just wait for it to be on Kazaa. Maybe if the cost came with something like a Fan Club membership or some special member stuff. Waste of money, methinks.

It's kinda lame that they don't make this free. But i've heard that it's only like 10 bucks a year or something like that. So if they really give us some cool crap it would make it worth it. But the official site hasn't really ever dished out all that much in the way of really exciting stuff.

Welcome to the new and improved internet. I remember the days where you could get most everything for free, now they just charge you for everything and anything they can. If it keeps up, I'll just have to disconnect from cyberspace.

Damn, I was hoping for a rebate on my theater ticket. Tell you what, I'd rather spend the $15 bucks to see less of that movie, ala the IMAX version.

Lucas has finally snapped. He won't take our money to give us the original cuts of the first trilogy. Yet he will accept it for sneak peaks and deleted scences.

Like Guyute said, "So, the ONLY way to see the deleted scene of the Asssault on the Droid Control Ship that was cut from AOTC is to pay MORE money?!?!?! What about the 15 bucks I slapped down on the DVD?!!?!?" This site is already advertising for the Star Wars brand, now they want MORE money for it? Bah! Not terribly likely from me.

I totaly disagree with it! It's just another way for LucasFilm to take money off the fans . I'm still gonna purchase it, but I won't be happy :(.

Can't wait to see that deleted scene though, even though it should have been on the DVD.

The Assault on the Driod Ship is just a rough cut. That means that they won't have all the effects shots done and the sound editing won't be complete. What a waste. I'll check out on the free day, but unless it's unbelievable I won't get it. As it is, I rarely check the SW site because this page and the starwars.com newsletter gives me all the info I want.

I am joining, but I just hope there isn't too much Episode III stuff on there :(. I'm also a bit miffed cause the username Pendo was already taken on StarWars.com, so I won't be known as Pendo on there .

I knew it. The one cut scene I actually wanted to see. Why can they complete the waterfall scene from TPM and put it on DVD, and not do the same to this scene. I am not paying for this crap.

Aparently they didn't do it to the control ship raid because it was only a trimmed scene. It didn't seem like a trimmed scene to me though.

I may tell some people in private, but I won't post it in the forums because any person would be able to get it, and use it to post offensive material in the forums, and get me into trouble :(. When I've purchased it I'll see...

So it cost 20 bucks for the year or 4 bucks for month-to-month access. Hmmm..something sounds familiar. The "free" trial requires a credit card and if you forget to cancel, it automatically charges you the 20 bucks. Ahh..now it's coming to me. All this is, is glorified porn site for star wars geeks. No way I am going to be suckered into this.

Jump into hyped-up-space more like. What the hell was all that questionaire thing for when they obviously intended to charge for content anyway? They must think we're all thick as two short planks. Hell I'm not payin' for any promo for a movie. SW.con can go to hell as far as I'm concerned.

06-07-2003, 03:07 PM
So far it hasn't even been worth the price I've paid. I only hope when the free period is up on Tuesday more interesting stuff will be up.
It wouldn't cost the website that much more money to give us all that Hyperspace stuff for free, all they'd need would be a bit more web space !

Pendo- I'd hate to say it dude, but i don't think it'll be worth the $$ until there is some filming and whatnot going on with Episode III. I'm sure come whenever, when that happens, they'll provide it, but until then, it'll just be the same ole 'crap. It'll also be worth the $$ when the Clone Wars cartoons get closer to their release. Until then, there won't be much, sadly. Damned Lucasfilm. :D

Pendo
06-08-2003, 05:18 AM
Well filming begins next month so hopefully it'll be better then :).

The Droid Control ship scene is on the site on Tuesday, so looking forward to that. I'm trying to think of a way I'd be able to send that to people. Parhaps it'd work if I e-mailed it...

Bleah, the new front end of the site looks AWFUL! Is this supposed to entice me to sign up, or vomit? They can keep their droid control ship scene, there's no way in hell I'm gonna visit the SW.com hyperspace. In fact, there's a strong likelihood that I'll be removing the sw.com bookmark from my browsers altogether.

How is it?!?!? :D

Pendo
06-10-2003, 05:42 PM
I would post it if I could but don't have anywhere to post it.

I'd probably be willing to try and e-mail it to a few people, but that person will have to make sure that their e-mail will hold enough space for the file, which is 21MB (hotmail does not support enough space), and I will only send it in size '320 x 140' otherwise it'd take hours for the video to send. PM me with your e-mail address if you want it, and I'll try my best (although I can't promise anything).

The scene isn't really that good. It is really, really rough. You do get a good glimpse at what COULD have been though, and the very last shot showing the dead Jedi is awsome :).

Nobody boycotts magazine's because they charge. That's my thinking on subscribing. $19.95 a year for what I've already read so far is cheaper then subscribing to some sci-fi magazine that is months behind the current news. :)

I'm a tad behind on this, because I had no idea what "Hyperspace" was until I tried to check out the official site earlier.

First up, since my connection is sssslllllllooooooowwww, I set Explorer to not automatically display images. So, my first impression of the site is that it's completely impossible to use without graphics. A big minus in my book.

Second, the "tour" of Hyperspace is absolutely nothing, and opens in Shockwave or some similar add-on. Which means several minutes to download. Ugh.

Third, I hate anything that tries to hide the fact that there's a fee until the last possible second. It's an admission that they know this should be free and they're embarrassed (rightfully so) to be charging.

Most importantly, it really, really, REALLY ticks me off that my purchase of the DVDs, "making of" books, visual guides, novelizations, annotated screenplays, and the Star Wars Insider mean absolutely nothing to Lucasfilm; they want more of my money.

As of this morning, I have lost any and all respect I had for Mr Lucas. He's now a money-grubbing, slimy Hutt, probably with a girl (or possibly a young boy) in a metal bikini tied up in his basement. He lucked into a few of the greatest movies of all time in his quest for more money.

I hope a million bears poop on his head and he vomits himself into oblivion.

Glad i'm not the only disgruntled one. I've already abandoned hasbro and their toys and now i've deleted all cookies and links to the official site from my PC. just don't want to know. I'm not even that arsed about the final prequel anymore to be honest. Couldn't care less if i see it or not. There are other more interesting movies out there and other movie companies willing to share for free at every step of the way. Willing to give you the fan more for the money you do plonk down on DVD or book or whatever.
I'm sick of star wars. had enough.

I finally looked at the site and hyperspace is junk. It offers hardly anything that is of interest to me and probably 95% of SW fans. I took the tour and felt like I wanted money back. I agree with El Chuxter and the bear comment. Poop on him now, if the bears don't I might.

Of course this could all be a cunning ploy from mr. lucas to kill the franchise dead. Hope that people give up on star wars and he can forget all about it and do his other lame projects. Howard the duck II, American grafitti redux, over sentimental journey the return.
Oh yes, and then there's the Indiana jones movie with the semi-dead Mr. Ford reprising his role. An old man action hero, just what the world needs right now..........

There is already an established thread discussing the pros and cons of the Hyperspace thing. But I'll comment and say that so far the web diaries and the web cam have been worth it. So you're getting a lot more then just a custom avatar for $19.95 a year. Which is cheaper then most sci-fi magazine subscriptions. :)
